If you can throw a little more light on this.

Is it because comparatively better handling of this ChinaVirus19 as of now ? But isn't it very early to say.

not only EPS but also the BJP is making its presence felt in rural and in many urban areas by their free and fair food distribution campaigns. This is in spite of opposition parties trying to physically stop such food distribution efforts by the BJP cadres by using religiously motivated senior police puppets to place obstacles in their path on a daily basis

EPS's fair and compassionate sheltering, feeding and handling of the migrant labor issue in TN is in fierce contrast to how the kerala and delhi states have handled the same issue.

his dedicated and confident handling of the chinese virus issue has shown the TN people his administrative skills and his sincerity, as well as, his capacity to serve his people, irrespective of caste creed or religion.

But you are right. It is a bit too early to say.

but hair transplanted stalin and other fundamentalist and caste party leaders are a worried lot these days.

I have to say TN gov has done very good job so far. They are using volunteers to distribute vegetables and every one with ration card is getting some money and it is being delivered at home(atleast in Chennai). But as other have said, TN people suffer from anti-incumbency wave Elections. After long time JJ won in 2016 elections even with anti-incumbency. Hopefully this time also dharmic forces will come to power.

Kerala HC seeks Centre's response on plea for evacuation of citizens in UAE

A petition sought directions to the Union Ministry of External Affairs and Civil Aviation for permission to evacuate.

The court - referring to an advisory by the Government of India - observed that it is advisable for Indians in foreign countries to stay there at the moment, and that "the state needs to be on guard, and be cautious about letting persons from abroad coming at this juncture."

^^^ Please note; Kerala and its politicians wants the evacuation to be done 'free of cost'. That is Kerala govt will not pay, the passengers will not pay and the Central Govt is to bear the cost and also arrange the logistics. And when COVID-19 subsides the next drama would be to arrange free transport to send these folks back. I am being very cyinical here, after hearing/reading about the "secular" dramas of GoKL.

One Swathi Devineni, supposedly a Telugu anchor based in US posted a selfie video comparing US and Indian situation in the context of Chinese virus and talked favorably towards India and how India is better managing it than US.

There is nothing objectionable in what she said. But leftist Telugus launched a vicious lies and propaganda against her for "spreading hatred against America" (which she did not do in her video). Some leftist Telugus even went ahead and complained about her to Homeland security and launched police complaint against her that she is "spreading hatred against America".

What are the 'leftists' doing in yeevil imperialistic Yamerica? They should have been in the neighbouring Cuba, right? Or are they following the foot steps of the Kerala commies who will abuse USA always and every time, but then join the IT band wagon and run away to the US? how is this waste dumping still continuing.

Is there an official ban in place on the transporting of non essential goods traffic

Aren't interstate goods carrying vehicles supposed to have valid e permits and other GST related official documents or are the commies being selective about that too.

I don't see anything she said is remotely considered hate speech by FOE standards. She is well protected under her freedom of speech rights for police or courts to consider any case.

Kerala’s Communist Government Releases Info On Deal With US Firm To Store Covid-19 Data After Outrage, Gets Exposed Even More

M R Subramani
Apr 16, 2020, 5:22 pm
Snapshot
The release of letters on a Covid-19 data deal with a US firm by the Kerala government has raised more questions than settling the controversy.

The Kerala government’s move to use a mobile application developed by a US-based firm to record details of its citizens under surveillance for symptoms of coronavirus (Covid-19) has sparked off a political controversy.
Sprinklr, the US company floated in 2010 by Ragi Thomas, who hails from Mavelikkara in Kerala’s Alappuzha district, uses the citizen experience management platform to help the government record data on Covid-19 patients and suspects.

The US firm had offered its services as 'donation' but the purchase order said the customer had no obligation to pay. However, after its implementation is completed, the company would provide the customer with the pricing for necessary Sprinklr services.

At that time, the Kerala government — the customer — could use its discretion to determine the amount and, if any, would be paid to the US firm for its services.

On 10 April, opposition and senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala objected to Kerala data on coronavirus patients and suspects being fed into Sprinklr’s servers.

Chennithala, who heads the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) opposition in the state assembly, alleged that data was being uploaded from ward levels and wondered what its implications would be.

Though Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) brushed aside Chennithala’s charges, the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) released letters of affirmation — first sent on 11 April and the second on 12 April.

These letters were uploaded on the state government’s IT Department website. The release of the letters has raised more questions than settling the controversy.

There are a lot of differences between the first letter of affirmation and the second. This, critics point out, shows that the Vijayan government and Sprinklr were put on the backfoot by the charges raised by the opposition.

Within a space of 24 hours, Sprinklr’s tone changed from being assertive to meek submission.

The content also underwent changes in tune with the shift in the US company’s stand. The letters of affirmation were regarding how the data would be collected, used, stored and rights of Sprinklr over the data.

In the 11 April letter, the US company put the onus on the Kerala government to make the data available for providing Sprinklr’s services.

As per the letter, Kerala would indemnify and treat Sprinklr, its staff, directors and affiliates harmless from anyone associated with the company’s access to as well as the use of customer data.

These terms went missing in the 12 April letter of affirmation.

The first letter also gave rights to the US firm royalty-free, non-exclusive, non-transferable, worldwide right and licence to copy, cache, store, reproduce, perform, display, use, distribute, transmit and generally make available the customer data in electronic form via the Internet, through wireless communications and social media.

In the letter of 12 April, Sprinklr changed its stance and said the data at all times would remain the property of the citizen and would be removed on instruction (from the citizen).

The company said it would not do anything with data beyond the limited rights granted to it by the citizen.

In the 11 April letter, Sprinklr asked Kerala government to provide all data. But in the next day’s letter, the US company talked of personal data provided only pursuant to the citizen’s consent.

Also in the letter of 12 April, Sprinklr would host the data within the geographical boundaries of the country.

The release of the letters cut no ice with the opposition, particularly Chennithala. The senior Congress leader urged Vijayan to examine the deal and said documents released were only email exchanges.

He argued that Sprinklr’s services were not free and the state government would have to pay post-coronavirus.

One of the main allegations of Chennithala is that data of 8.7 million ration card holders had been handed over to the US firm.

On Wednesday (15 April), addressing the media, Chennithal alleged a huge scam and argued that the letters of affirmation were not a legal agreement.

He also questioned why senior bureaucrat and IT Department Secretary M Sivasankar featured in Sprinklr advertisement and wondered the reason for its removal from the company’s website.

The opposition leader has threatened to get back to the media with more details.

On the other hand, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Mulapally Ramachandran has sought the views of the CPI-M politburo as it has always championed the cause of data privacy.

the comparatively low spread of the chinese virus in India seems to be attracting gora vultures to feed upon and digest Indian corona virus infection data to try and determine the causes and come up with possible solutions or even tailor vaccines for similar populations elsewhere.

and rightly, they have chosen the one govt that is among the greediest in India: meaning commie, without conscience and completely amoral.

They are all overseas Khangressis.

We have seen the ferocious attack on our chair and a great patriot Sam Pitroda :D , who asked a few questions about the Balakot attack. They cannot even reply in a civilized manner. Corruption is rampant in the government. The prime minister never answers to the public which is not the way of democracy. There is an unequal distribution of wealth, and a few people control most of it. The Congress Party has come out with a new program for equitable distribution of wealth benefiting the poor. If BJP comes back, we do not know whether this would be the last election in the country  . This is the time to support the young visionary, Rahul Gandhi, who works tirelessly for the country :rotfl: , he said.

Funny thing, this Po Reddy guy is a cousin of one of my massa batch mates, I found him on Facebook. Him and most of his family/friends are hardcore Congis. They all hail from Hyderabad and other towns in TG. Some of them successfully made the transition to TRS but most of them stayed with TG State cong and this is nostly because they do not see eye to eye to TRS leaders(wrong cast is what I was told by one of them, long time ago). There is a lot of Congi gravy train that need to be milked and will feed these guys stomach and ego. These guys are so entrenched in the congi eco system that in my observation, they all marry only from Congi eco system families. Also, like most things in TG/AP, these guys are supremely castiest.

These guys have a penchant for drama and will do anything that will keep them in "public view". I will not at all be surprised if his Police Report on Swathi is a drama to boot. In fact, I'm willing to bet that he never stepped inside that police station in NJ. There is no law in any state in US that will entertain a case like this. You can badmouth the great Khanland all you want and it will all be protected by the First Amendment clause of US constitution. I will also be not surprised if this Po Reddy character is amicable with Swathi in real life.

now, why doesn't this news surprise me

the TMC in waste bengal is doing exactly the every same thing: robbing the PDS peter to pay the jehadi paul
Dhankhar said that there were three problems with the PDS in West Bengal. “First, supplies are not reaching the needy. Second, the PDS has been hijacked by the ruling party and distribution is taking place through them. And third, people are getting the food grains in lesser quantity and of poor quality,” Dhankhar said.

could it not just be god's will, after all, seeing as to how it's god's own country anyway

What's your issue with name calling a state?

Most of the economic woes of the state can straightaway traced back to historical events and biased treatment from Congress govt.

That said, the state has sent almost half the MPs to the same party as the one ruling India right now. And every non-partial observers agrees if EC had provided central forces to cover the booths, the count of MPs as same to those of the powers in Delhi would have been past the majority mark

The citizens of the state have amply empowered the central govt. If the central govt. simply lacks the courage and conviction to dismiss the state govt. that's their problem.

By the way, what's your proper name? May we have the pleasure of analysing the achievements of your state of origin?

Juvenile acts as terming "West"as "Waste"may be okay in FB groups.
Anyway, I'm reporting your post for name calling a state.

Name calling is wrong and shaming everyone in a state, it is like sikcular/ leftNazi hatred of all Gujaratis in general.

Mamata has already done her damage. Dismissing her Govt now will be counterproductive, betterto try and get rid of her democratically in 2021

After Spending Spree, Kerala Government Says It Is Facing ‘Financial Crisis’ Due To Covid-19 Lockdown

During the weekend, Kerala Finance Minister Thomas Isaac said that the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government in the state was reeling under a financial crisis in view of the nation-wide lockdown to tackle the spread of novel Coronavirus (Covid-19).

Given the poor financial situation of the state government, the statement is not surprising, especially since the Pinarayi Vijayan government has been on a spending-spree since it came to power in May 2016.

Isaac told the media that the state has been able to raise only Rs 250 crore this month and it expects to totally mop up Rs 2,000 crore including payments from the Centre.

The problem for Kerala is that salaries alone account for Rs 2,500 crore of the exchequer’s outgo.

Interestingly, the government led by the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) attempted to raise Rs 2,500 crore by asking the government employees to contribute their one-month salary.

The state government even proposed to collect the contribution in six equal instalments — five days salary each month for six months.

But it has run into problems with the employee associations owing allegiance to the Opposition United Democratic Front (UDF), led by the Congress.

The LDF government came up with the proposal of six instalments after its plea for donation during floods in 2018 was sternly opposed by various government staff associations.

Compounding the Pinarayi Vijayan government’s plans are that it has been able to raise only Rs 168.9 crore under the Chief Minister Covid-19 Relief Fund.

As against this, Pinarayi Vijayan’s LDF government has spent Rs 350 crore, which was given to the Civil Supplies Department to buy food kits.

On 27 March, the CPM-led government converted the Chief Minister’s Flood Relief Fund into Covid-19 Relief Fund.

Of the nearly Rs 4,800 crore received by the Flood Relief Fund, the state government had been left with only around Rs 1,700 crore. This amount is reported to have been allocated for welfare measures during the current lockdown period.

For April, the CPM government could resort to getting ways and means advances that the Reserve Bank of India provides to tide over a temporary mismatch in states’ cash flow.

After that, the treasury faces the danger of becoming empty, according to Isaac.

Chief Minister Vijayan says Kerala would need an overall financial package besides a special one to rehabilitate those who are returning from abroad especially Gulf countries.

He told the media that the state had raised the issue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and would raise it again during the video conference with the Chief Ministers.

In December last year, the UDF issued a white paper on the financial situation of the state and charged the LDF with mismanagement.

Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala, presenting the white paper before the media, alleged that the financial crisis was due to the Pinarayi Vijayan government indulging in corruption and being spendthrift.

The white paper said Kerala’s public debt has increased to Rs 2.5 lakh crore from Rs 1.5 lakh crore in 2016 with the annual plan fund being cut by 30 per cent.

The Vijayan government targeted a 30 per cent increase in tax collection but could achieve only a 12 per cent rise.

Another Congress leader and member of the Legislative Assembly, V D Satheesan, alleged that the state government had failed to create any assets.

The UDF white paper said that between July and September 2019, as many as 1,050 bills valued at Rs 1,133.46 crore were not cleared.

The white paper pointed out at the Comptroller and Auditor General of India’s findings that the Kerala government masked its financial crisis and was unable to rein in expenditure.

In November 2019, a controversy broke out in Kerala over the diversion of World Bank loan for meeting general expenses.

Kerala’s problem is that at least 52 per cent of its committed expenses of Rs 1.27 lakh crore goes towards salaries, pensions and interests payments.

Kerala’s fiscal deficit was estimated at Rs 26,291 crore in 2019-20 fiscal.

many govts in India have perfected the covertly operated the host & parasite system of sickularism

and many govts have become quite brazen in demanding that such a system now be regularized and make no bones about their demands on the majority knowing fully well that there will not be a widespread blowback.

nationwide, apart from temples and Hindus in general, there has been a pathetic response from others in spite of desperate govt pleas to contribute funds and lend a helping hand to manage the ongoing crises.

TN Government Gives Free Rice To Mosques, Gets Slammed For Asking Temples To Donate To CM’s Covid-19 Fund

Snapshot
People are questioning whether the AIAIDMK government, which is accused of legitimising temple land-grab in the High Court, is now using them to appease a community for electoral benefits.

A decision by the Tamil Nadu government to provide wheat and rice free of cost to 2,895 mosques across the state for Ramazan feast has led to a controversy with many questioning it.

On 16 April, Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary K Shanmugham said the mosques would directly deliver the rice to the beneficiaries in small packets.

This is an annual affair but given the fact that resources are hard to find due to the economy being hit by Coronavirus, the move has been questioned.

Eyebrows have been raised, particularly when it has asked various temples to totally contribute Rs 10 crore to the Chief Minister's Coronavirus Relief Fund.

A total of 5,450 tonnes are to be distributed to the mosques by the ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) government. At a cost of Rs 21 per kg of rice that the Centre charges Tamil Nadu, the state could incur a little over Rs 11 crore for the rice distribution.

The Madras High Court, while upholding the decision, has asked the Edappadi K Palaniswami-led government to respond to a plea for extension of the scheme to other marginalised groups.

The Tamil Nadu government move has particularly come in for sharp criticism from Puthiya Tamizhagam (PT) party founder Dr K Krishnsamy and its youth leader Shyam Krishnaswamy.

PT, which enjoys a good following among the Devendra Kula Vellalar community, has been at the fore demanding that the community be de-listed from the Scheduled Castes list and be treated as a Backward Cass one.

There have been others who have criticised the AIADMK government for the decision to distribute rice free of cost to the mosques, while asking temples to contribute to the Chief Minister’s Covid-19 relief fund.

“Tamil Nadu government takes Rs 10 crore from temples for Chief Minister’s fund but gives free rice to mosques from government money. Taking from one religion alone and giving free to others is secularism? Why aren’t churches and Wakf boards contributing?” a person wondered on Twitter.

Shyam Krishnasamy asked why should rice be distributed to the mosques when some jamaats have passed resolutions rejecting it.

Dr K Krishnasamy, in a statement issued yesterday (27 April), alleged that the rice was being distributed by the AIADMK government to preserve its vote bank.

He asked why should the Palaniswami government provide rice to mosques when many people were struggling for food. Poor farmers were going hungry and the rice could have been given to them, he said.

Another said that usually, the Tamil Nadu government would supply rice to the mosques to prepare porridge during the month of Ramadan, but priorities this year should have been different.

Critics on social media also pointed out how the Tamil Nadu government had wanted to legalize squatters on temple lands before the Madras High Court stepped in to stay the order.

The state government has termed the landholdings of the temples as “unwanted lands” in the court while seeking to vacate the stay.

The state government has, however, finished distributing the rice and it is now begun to reach the targeted beneficiaries.

Without any freebies for Ramzan, there is a 100% chance that minorities won't vote for you. With freebies, the politician believes (mind you, it is only a belief, there is no scientific survey) there is a 10% chance that 5% of the minorities may vote for you. The cost to public exchequer is, let us say, is Rs 15 cr (Rs 30000 per tonne of rice multiplied by 5000 tonnes). What is not to like about the freebie decision?

Covid-19 Fight: Pinarayi Vijayan Has Become A Prisoner Of His Own Media Image; Communist ‘Kerala Model’ Is Falling Apart

Venu Gopal Narayanan
Apr 29, 2020,

Snapshot
The ‘Kerala model’ remained unquestioned by both a curiously-cowed opposition and an overawed press.

But now it seems to be falling apart.

The so-called ‘Kerala model’, aggressively promoted by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan appears to be coming apart at the seams – both fiscally and in managing the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic.

Yet, two weeks ago, when Swarajya first started asking hard questions of Vijayan’s communist government, it was a lone voice disputing both the Marxists’ public reporting of the pandemic, and its management.

These queries seemed in bad taste, since, as per Vijayan’s daily evening press conferences (gushingly dubbed ‘sunset meetings’ by a formidable public relations brigade), the count of positive cases in the state was in steady decline.

They were down to the low single digits, quarantine was in full effect, and every last Nizamuddin Markaz returnee had apparently been accounted for by the end of March.

On the administrative front, Vijayan was busy declaring fresh welfare schemes, dutifully zoning districts in colour schemes, planning an exit strategy which would be the envy of the known world, announcing grand economic recovery packages, and preparing for the return of lakhs of Malayalees from the Gulf.

In the backdrop, while numerous foreign publications were writing touching pieces about how the communists’ ‘Kerala model’ was the best thing since sliced bread, the statistical veracity of these claims remained studiously unquestioned by both a curiously-cowed opposition, and an overawed press.

But not a day after the first probing queries were published, and an article appeared, hastily confirming that yes, well, while all the Tablighi Jamaat returnees were accounted for, there might or might not be a few, who might or might not be accounted for. This is what happens when journalism becomes indistinguishable from meteorology.

The same day, there was a spurt in cases, and the count started climbing up again. Only 51 cases were reported between 10 and 20 April; as many more were reported over the next three days. While this trend shift confirmed that the doubts raised were not misplaced, it ended up raising more doubts, because now, the scanty details supplied made no sense.

If Vijayan was to be believed, individuals were manifesting symptoms three to four weeks after their last probable points of infection – a medical incongruity.

Even more incredulously, a chunk of the fresh cases were located in two districts, Kottayam and Idukki, which had just been declared virus-free, and hence graded green; meaning, that they were set to exit the lockdown first.

Both became containment zones instead. As a result, Kerala was forced to witness the utter absurdity of two districts going from green to red in a matter of days. The ongoing controversy, over the origins of fresh cases in these districts, is another story entirely.

To make matters worse, Vijayan tied himself up in knots at sunset on 28 April, by saying that only four cases had been reported in Kerala that day – all from the North Malabar hotspots of Kannur and Kasaragod. That’s when the balloon went up. The hitherto-cowed local press howled in protest, since reports had already emerged from Idukki district of three new cases. Why were those not on the tally, they asked? Vijayan’s response was baffling: it wasn’t three cases from Idukki alone, he said, but 25 from the state, and all the samples had been sent back for re-testing.

Further, to add to everyone’s consternation, he blithely chose not to divulge any patient or contact tracing details. He avoided further questions, on what was an unnerving first in India – of positive cases being inexplicably and unfathomably pushed back into the system, instead of being reported.

The horse(ICMR) itself has revealed that around 70% of the covid19 patients are asymptotic. It means that the virus will remain in the population until a vaccine is developed. The only CM who has had the guts to accept his reality in front of the public is AP CM jagan reddy. All others CMs have carefully stayed quiet and preferred the wait and watch game.

Kerala appears to be always putting on a show for some obscure crowd. The centre has continued to ignore keralas antics because of the "pigs rolling in mud" argument. That southern state is experiencing community spread like other states. It's gamble of bringing back its diaspora from the gulf is going to cripple its healthcare dept. It's practice of socialist policies has already strained its treasury but communists are not afraid of bankrupting themselves in the process.

Kerala is financially broke, says finance minister Thomas Isaac

Updated : April 25, 2020 12:33 PM IST
Isaac was peeved in the way the various staff organisations attached to the Congress-led UDF strongly opposed the suggestion that he put forward by requesting all state government employees to contribute one month's salary to the CM Covid Relief Fund.

"If we include what the Centre would give is in all we will be able to touch Rs 2,000 crores. For payment of salaries along we require Rs 2,500 crores," said Isaac to the media

month after the lockdown, Kerala Finance Minister Thomas Isaac on Saturday said that the state has been reeling under huge financial crisis as all what the state government could raise in April was a mere Rs 250 crores.

"If we include what the Centre would give is in all we will be able to touch Rs 2,000 crores. For payment of salaries along we require Rs 2,500 crores," said Isaac to the media here.

"Then a way out is to draw from the Ways and Means and including overdraft, it will come to Rs 2,500 crores. After that what happens would be, the treasury would be closed. Such is the situation that we are in," the Finance Minister said.
