why

only one community has contributed to this cause. It's their money by right

let them decide what to do with their money.

why should they be limited to the options you have given

has anyone asked them

when every tom, abdool, and aziz begged, pleaded, and threatened the Hindus for a multireligious "hospital" in Ayodhya, in place of the Ram Mandir, what was the end result.

no outside camels are being allowed to slyly push their heads into what they all demanded be a strictly sickular tent.

the time has come to give ourselves the priority without any foolishly qualifying ifs and buts.

@ ricky_v

most rich temples are under govt control anyway. Fraud minorityism ensures that Hindu wealth has been socialized but roler and roper wealth remains privatized, often their coffers filled frequently from fraudulently appropriated wealth slyly taken from temples under various socialized and sickular pretexts.

Blaming temples for not helping the poor is a form of Hinduphobia.

Ask first for church and mosque nationalization and then the compulsory use of their foreign acquired wealth for the benefit of the Hindu poor.

why not this option

Replying to @TheJaggi

Just a handful of 465 NGOs hold Rs 9000 crores in FDs and SB accounts. GoI must nationalise those assets.

Sir, these options are given by the parties, not by me. This was in response to the sentiments that these opinions are voiced by the opposition and not by "our" guys in power, when in reality all parties are interested in the bit of gold we have entrusted to the temples; some dream of utilising it to send their extended and neighbour's families to the west, while others dream of using it for sabka something or the other.
To answer your rhetorical question, nobody will ask us and nobody will care howsoever it is commandeered.

I have had simple rule for decades. Never contribute anything but token amount to these govt controlled temples. Hindus have no one to blame but themselves when it comes to casting votes or doling out donations to temples that don't openly help Hindu causes.

For non govt ones that are shy about talking or educating about threats to Hindus, I don't donate anything.

Without asking the central government the commies in Kerala already tried doing this using the pliable cronies they have installed in the Temple Endowment boards. 5 crores given but people have approached the High Court. The Devaswom related acts are very clear on how the money received as donations should be used. So it is only the legal experts among Hindu devotees who could at least make an attempt to stop this day light dacoity by the commies.

No one can be forced to hear something: HC
PRAYAGRAJ: The Allahabad high court has held that “azaan” (the call to ritual prayer in Islam) can be recited from the minarets of mosques by human voice only and without the use of any amplifying device or loudspeaker.
The court added that such recitation by human voice cannot be hindered under the pretext that it violates the guidelines issued by the state government to contain the Covid-19 pandemic.
Pronouncing the judgment on Friday, the court also held that “azaan” may be an essential part of Islam but its recitation through a loudspeaker or other amplifying device cannot be said to be an integral part of the religion and warranting protection of the fundamental right enshrined under Article 25 of the Constitution (right to religious freedom), which even otherwise is subject to public order, morality and health, and other provisions of the Constitution. Thus, under no circumstances can sound-amplifying devices be permitted to be used between 10pm and 6am by the district administration.
“It cannot be said that a citizen should be coerced to hear anything which he does not like or which he does not require since it amounts to taking away the fundamental right of the other person,” the court further observed.
Disposing of a PIL filed by Ghazipur BSP MP Afzal Ansari and others, a division bench comprising Justice Shashi Kant Gupta and Justice Ajit Kumar observed, “Traditionally, and according to the religious order, ‘azaan’ has be to recited by the imam, or the person in charge of mosques, through their own voice.”
“Right to religion by no stretch of the imagination ought to be practised, professed and propagated saying that a microphone has become an essential part of religion. No one has got the right to make other persons captive listeners. One cannot disturb others’ basic human rights and fundamental rights. Use of loudspeakers can cause hearing loss, disturbance of sleep, interference with communication, annoyance, etc., and other diseases. Right to sleep is not only a fundamental right but it is to be conceded to be a basic human right,” the court observed.
Giving this judgment, the court directed the Allahabad high court registrar-general to forward a copy of the judgment to the UP chief secretary for onward circulation to all district magistrates in the state to ensure compliance.
In the PIL, Ansari had requested the court to direct the Ghazipur administration to permit the recitation of azaan by only one person from mosques as it does not violate the guidelines issued to contain Covid-19.

Will some TN based PT inform me whether it is correct that there is a Dept of Christian Studies in Madras University which using taxpayers’ money is to hold an international conference in July and invite anti Hindu “scholars” to present papers?
12:20 PM · May 15, 2020

Yes, Confirmed.

Points :
1. Madras University has a Department for Christian studies
2. The seminar is asking for papers on Hindu Temple, Murtis, Chakras etc
3. Organizers are Christians
4. The agenda is putting Temple in the front cover

University of Madras has different departments for Christian, Vaishnavite (and perhaps a few other) studies. The VC should ensure that each dept organises seminars for their religion only to avoid stoking passions and communal harmony. A separate inter religious studies dept can do generic theology research.

This needs to be handled with care to avoid accusations of interference in academic freedom and independence.

Another way to handle this is to ensure that all papers submitted for publications will be peer reviewer by Professors from the respective departments of focus (ex: Hinduism, Buddhism, etc). The US professor in collaboration seems to have published several nasty papers on Hinduism which will then be quoted and a parallel academic peer reviewed distorted view of Hinduism will be spread throughout the world.

Time to take this seriously and fix it. Governor is the chancellor of universities and he should take the Univ of Madras VC to task.

Mahants of Kashi Vishvanath Mandir bans entry of Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan after he asked govt to appropriate all gold from Hindu temples

Days after former Chief Minister of Maharashtra and Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan stoked a controversy by suggesting the government to extract gold from the Hindu temples in the country to use in the war against Coronavirus, the Mahant fraternity of Shiva’s abode and Jyotirlinga Kashi Vishvanath has decided to ban Chavan and his family from entering the temple situated in Varanasi.

According to the reports, the Mahant of Jyotirlinga Kashi Vishvanath temple has not only decided to ban Chavan and his family from entering the temple situated in Varanasi but also urged other Jyotirlinga temples to take similar action against the Congress leader for his irresponsible comment.

Meanwhile, a former Mahant of the Kashi Vishvanath attacked Congress leader Chavan calling him ‘mentally deranged’.

The questions for Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan raised in the subsequent responses are valid. They should be asked if they feel their money was well spent and if they agree with Afridi's anti-India motives and views. At the very least they should be tried for anti-India activities.

The agriculture sector reforms announced yesterday by FM
@nsitharaman
are historic at multiple levels. It frees up Indian farmers & the food supply chain after 700 years of exploitation (so it is not just about reversing a socialist era mistake). 1/n

The origin of the license-permit system and the systematic tilting of markets/prices against farmers was introduced by Alauddin Khilji circa 1300 in order to feed his army and enrich the Turkic nobility, while deliberately impoverishing the population. 2/n

It is an extraordinary reflection of our slave understanding of history, that Indian textbooks still present Khilji's systematic exploitation as "reform" and instead blame the traders who were subject to arbitrary inspector raj 3/n

This same tilted agricultural policy was used by the East India Company to force Indian farmers to grow indigo (for Manchester) and opium (for China), and then sell it at depressed prices through agents. It completely impoverished rural India and caused repeated famine 4/n

Interestingly, the British were very careful to keep their own hands clean so that the blame fell on the traders. This is the source of 1950s and 60s film plots. Meanwhile, those who provided the supply chain, were accused of "hoarding". 5/n

Now government interventions are needed sometimes in extreme situations - say wars - when markets get disrupted (this will be true even in the future). However, it is indefensible that a license-permit raj was perpetuated at the cost of the farmer for so long. 6/n

Thus, we had absurd fluctuations in onion etc prices every year - from very high to to very low. This has little to do with production, and everything to do with poor storage. Yet, those who invested in storage were raided and termed "hoarders". 7/n

As shown in the latest Economic Survey, those items that were considered "essential" were ironically the ones that suffered the largest fluctuations. Meanwhile, countries that do not even grow onions (say Singapore) enjoyed stable food prices 8/n

When one considers significant take over of businesses by muslims in last two decades coupled with their exponential population growth, I don't think that they will be too worried about losing business here or there. The economic boycott ship is just about sail or has already sailed. This is observing from GJ. Other states are going to be in worse situation. Criminal networks, mosque funds, jihad funds, etc. have been systematically funding as many joints as possible for multitude of reasons from whitening money to conduct love jihads.

I am sure all of you are seeing libarandus shedding crocodile tears and tearing into ModidJi for the 'plight of migrants'. In all of this cacophony, several issues stand out in my mind:

1. Around 2nd week of March, when Coronoa virus struck India full throttle, there were no easy options. Lockdown and get a handle on things, or business as usual, and potentially millions of cases and 100s of 1000s of deaths, and untold misery. It would have been an unmitigated disaster.

2. So ModiJi had to act, and act he did. Now one can argue about the 4 hour deadline, but he had to do something quick. Imagine for a moment, he said lock down in a few days, 3, 4, whatever. Can you imagine the mad rush of the migrant laborers to get home? It would have been chaotic. In the melee, 1000s would have suffered infections, and potentially scenario #1 playing out.

3. Once the shock lock down was imposed (and mind you, not before some warnings like the Janata curfew), it required a national resolve. Unfortunately, with India's million mutinies that wasn't to be. Starting with Kujli's perfidy, migrants took to the streets. Once the exodus started, the system was overwhelmed.

4. The global anti-Hindu mafia consisting of Islamists, Christians wanting to harvest souls, commies, Hindus haters, whites and their slaves couldn't let go on using the horrific and tragic images of migrants to play out their anti-ModiJi pet peeves. When Islamist 5-star traitors like Saba Naqvi, Rana Ayyub and their ilk start talking about 'plight of migrants', you know how serious they are.

5. Lost in this cacophony is the scenario in #1. Bottom line: India with all its pitfalls and constraints, India has done quite well IMO. Its still not out of the woods, cases are rising daily. The worst may still be yet to come. But we have a measure of the situation. There were never any easy options, and every option would have had its own terrible consequences. Easy to sit on the side lines. But I repeat, before patting ModiJi too much on the back, my feeling is India is not yet out of the woods. Situation needs to be managed carefully with lock down restrictions ending.

6. Finally, Nirmala Sitharaman Avargal hit the nail on the coffin at Pappu's drama bazzi on taking a few hours off his luxurious abode in Delhi and doing some migrant tourism. She asked him to lift migrant's suitcases and their kids and walk them home if he were really serious about 'plight of migrants'. Bloody scum bags Pappu and his slaves.

It must be recorded that the only BJP CM (or any CM) to stand tall during this entire crisis is UP CM Yogi Adityanath. Despite being a poor state with minimal infrastructure, he has ensured that students and migrant labour from UP were brought back and taken care of with dignity. The sheer scale of the effort his government is making is impressive.

The end of APMC monopoly. More power to the farmer

The end of APMC monopoly. More power to the farmer

Rajalakshmi Nirmal
May 17, 2020

The farmer can choose the market to sell, based on where auctions are transparent, trade is fair and price is attractive

While farmers may be disappointed with the ₹20-lakh-crore stimulus package that has no provision for ‘loan waiver’ or ‘direct cash transfer’ to ease their immediate pain, structural reforms taken up by the Centre can go a long way to empower them.

The Centre has turned the ongoing crisis into an opportunity and has lifted provisions of the Essential Commodities Act on onions, pulses, edible oil and other key food items. It also intends to end the APMC monopoly and put in place a Central law to free up inter-State trade and set up a framework for e-trading of agriculture produce.

If the above-mentioned steps materialise, the farmercan decide the market he/she want to sell at attractive prices.

Cracking the whip

The Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC) Act of most States currently restrict primary sale of commodities to within the limits of an APMC mandi.

The first sale in crops produced in the area notified under an APMC can be conducted only under the supervision of the mandi board officials through licensed commission agents.

There are two main problems with APMCs: First, the mandi licence is issued only to those individuals owning a shop/godown inside the APMC. This has become an entry barrier for the private sector — both individual traders and corporates — and has discouraged free trade and competition. The traders (buyers) inside the mandi take advantage of their position and fix prices by forming a cartel.

Second, the APMCs have failed to provide even basic facilities to farmers. Leave alone infrastructure for sorting and grading the produce, many do not have even storage facilities (covered) or electronic weighing scales.

A case in point is the markets in Haryana where farmers are given only manual weighing scales and commission agents don’t pay them the MSP for their produce.

What the Centre has now promised will help build a direct farmer-end-user marketing model by sidestepping the APMC. The plan is to create a new trade zone, said a source in the know of things at the North Block.

How this will be implemented, given that agriculture is a State subject, is a big question.

The entry 28 in the State List is Markets and Fairs. Entry 26 of the State List mentions trade and commerce within the State. So, clearly, the Centre can’t poke its nose into affairs of a State with regard to agri markets.

But note that entry 26 in the State List is subject to the provisions of entry 33 of the Concurrent List of the Constitution of India which gives power to the Centre to decide on intra-State trade laws for food items, including edible oilseeds and oils.

Also, entry 42 in the Union List gives powers to the Centre for inter-State trade and commerce.

Thus, to put it simply, the Centre can decide on trade laws for both inter-State and intra-State.

While APMCs may continue to remain, the new trade zone being created by the Centre will offer a choice to the farmer and can end the monopoly of APMCs. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also said that there will be a framework set up for e-trading of agri produce.

While eNAM was set up with this idea, it has a long way to go.

It appears that the Centre is planning a new larger platform to connect farmers and end-consumers.

Here, however, it becomes essential that farmer rights are protected through a regulatory body. Currently, many farmer producer companies feel cheated by their buyers. There are several deductions from the price written in the contract. For instance, in Madhya Pradesh, while the private traders show a price equal to MSP or higher on the contract, the net price the farmer gets is way below.

Sample this: In Madhya Pradesh, this season, a large food retailer promised ₹1,990/quintal of wheat, which is ₹ 65/quintal higher over the MSP. But what landed in farmers’ pockets was less than ₹1,800/quintal. This is because, the buyer reduced the weight of gunny bags — 650 grams per piece — deducted a charge of 1.5-2 per cent for making payment within 5-6 days to the agent (he, in turn, reduces the price to the farmer) and also deducted 1.5-2 per cent on account of poor quality grains. There is no scientific means of determining the quality of grains, lament farmers.

While the idea of a new market(s) is good, equally important is conducting trade in a manner that is fair to both the buyer and the seller.

In the past few weeks, thanks to the Centre nudging the States, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka have modified their APMC Act to allow farmers to sell their produce outside the APMC without the latter’s intervention.

States should give preference to farmer producer companies when setting up new markets.

Other reforms

Besides the two key reforms — one on APMCs and other on amendments to the Essential Commodities Act — the Finance Miniter also announced a slew of other positive measures.

This includes setting up an Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (by investment of ₹1-lakh crore) and another fund for helping micro food enterprises and fishermen, and importantly, ‘Operation Total’ to enable farmers to realise better prices on all fruits and vegetables.

At an expenditure of ₹500 crore, the scheme will be implemented to provide a 50 per cent subsidy on transportation of products and a 50 per cent subsidy on storage. It will be implemented as a pilot over the next six months and then expanded.

While all these measures will take time to bear fruit for the farmer, once implemented, they will fill the gap in infrastructure at the farm-gate level and even out the volatility in food prices.

What is missing

Despite the severe shortage of labour and challenges in transportation amid the nationwide lockdown, many farmer groups have successfully moved produce of their member farmers to markets in cities.

It was an apt time for the Centre to recognise the work of farmer groups and support them. But it failed to do so.

If the Centre had extended concessional working capital loans to FPOs (farmer producer organisations) through a special credit line, it would have been a big help. Also, while the Ministry of Rural Development did release a comprehensive circular on how States should provide more work and take into fold all migrant labourers who have come back, it failed to list farm work such as paddy transplantation, sowing of vegetables/fruits and loading/unloading as permissible work under MGNREGA.

Had it been done, it could have helped marginal farmers, who have been hit by the pandemic, sustain their livelihoods.

Boring to read but this is the real deal. Middle men should be prevented from exploiting our farmers who should get a fair price for their produce
