^ Tejas production will be in trouble , I think in case they sanction GE 404 engines then Modi should test nukes as anyway usa will be full of enmity no matter how much Modi bends to Biden.

On the other hand it will be good as this chinook Apache gravy train of defense purchasing will halt too

A conspiracy theory, is the LCA signing being delayed (by a secret syndicate, whoever they are, not the people in front), hoping that non blue president will sanction India on S-400, thus by stopping GE-f404 and dooming LCA? That way LCA never happened and back to import gravy train.
Can we buy 83 f404 upfront?

In case of sanctions, there will many other already inducted ameriki systems, aircraft and artillery for us to worry about but then even though it will be expensive, we as a country will learn to avoid ameriki systems and no govt will buy from them again.

the amerikis are too savvy and too greedy to burn such expensive bridges over which their gravy trains run.

So no sanctions also because it will become a double edged sword that, for them, will cut both ways.

As in US, so in India: Antifa in India glorifies Naxalism, advocates violence against Sanghis and engages in genocidal rhetoric

Donald Trump has declared that the USA will designate Antifa as a terrorist organisation. The US President took the decision following large-scale riots, where stores were looted, people were attacked and buildings were set on fire.

The Democratic Party is the party of Urban Naxalites Party of America (UNPA). These protests have proven it, but they're playing with fire. When a Democratic party president and congress gets in charge, they will resort back to the same old business as usual and the poor non white in the US will continue to get squeezed. Expect more rioting as 40+ million unemployed and frustration is coming out.

States like NY and CA will become ungovernable because their major cities will have fallen into the abyss. Trump needs to declare martial law in the top 100 metros across the US. Call out the regular US Army and shoot the rioters.

Neither it is a pro-Democrat forum where 'progressive' democrats like AOC, Ilhan Omar, Biden, Sanders etc show their AntiHindu and AntiIndia policies openly. Nay flaunts it.

India must do what is necessary for its Geo-Political interests. In the physical space, it needs to erase the Pakistani threat and take care of the Chinese Lizard. In the abstract sense, the threat of Radical Islamic Terrorism looms large.

The current president of the US has come out strongly in support of India and against Radical Islamic Terrorism and also supports India's staredown of China arising due to Chinese perfidy. Indo-US relations could never have been better.

Now you take your pick. Support the president of the US and further Indo-US relations or cry about the failure of AOCs, Sanders, Ilhans, and Joes and lay it on the members?

Yes if you support any candidate who is Anti-Indian and Anti-Hindu*, you will be called out.

Added later: China can choose the path of co-operation and not confrontation. However, any US political entity supporting China which supplies nukes and missiles to Pakistan and supports terrorism against India *must* not find favor in these pages.

I would like to jog your memory to Robin Raphael. It was her creation of the Hurriyat's and Lashkar-e-taiba which started a cycle death over some 25+ years leading to 40,000+ Indian lives lost. Please let that sink in.

Personally I do not care which party is in place or which candidate is in place. As long as it leads to a better Indo-US relation and a positive growth and enrichment of both countries and the world, I am all for it. Currently, I see only Donald J. Trump rooting for India. He may have his motives, but they are aligned with India's goals.

PS: I am *not* a Hindu.

Historically Indians who are US citizens ( mostly Hindus) vote for Dems. But of late Dems ( and labour in the UK to whom Hindus/Indian vote regularly) becoming anti-Hindu. Entire global left has become Anti Hindu. That is a major security threat to us.

Telephone conversation between PM Modi and President of USA Donald Trump
https://www.deshgujarat.com/2020/06/02/162084/
President Trump spoke about the US Presidency of the Group of Seven, and conveyed his desire to expand the ambit of the grouping beyond the existing membership, to include other important countries including India. In this context, he extended an invitation to Prime Minister Modi to attend the next G-7 Summit to be held in USA.

Prime Minister Modi commended President Trump for his creative and far-sighted approach, acknowledging the fact that such an expanded forum would be in keeping with the emerging realities of the post-COVID world. The Prime Minister said that India would be happy to work with the US and other countries to ensure the success of the proposed Summit.

Prime Minister Modi expressed concern regarding the ongoing civil disturbances in the US, and conveyed his best wishes for an early resolution of the situation.

The two leaders also exchanged views on other topical issues, such as the COVID-19 situation in the two countries, the situation on the India-China border, and the need for reforms in the World Health Organisation.

President Trump warmly recalled his visit to India in February this year. Prime Minister Modi said that the visit had been memorable and historic on many accounts, and had also added new dynamism to the bilateral relationship.

The exceptional warmth and candour of the conversation reflected the special nature of the Indo-US ties, as well as the friendship and mutual esteem between both leaders.

You're asking that after all the sanctimonious sermonizing and expressions of "concern" raised by the Americans every time there is some incident in India? Obama even had the audacity to try and lecture us about human rights while he was here, while back home the cops kept murdering his fellow black people and getting away with it.

If it isn't normal practice it should be made one. These riots and the incidents preceding it are showing the world the true colors of America.

Even Trump is not exactly pro Hindu unless you go and support him. Then he will say Modi is his best friend but goes to make fun of his accent. He said during this pandemic Churches, Synagogues and Mosques should be open but did he say temples? He just plain forgot. We have do what is best for US (menaing individual 'us') and if that helps the other US (meaning the country), so be it and everything else is maya.

Trump is pro himself and no one else. EJs are useful idiots for him. However, Trump gives India strategic breathing space. A great opportunity was lost to liberate POK in Feb. 2019, as the US would have said nothing or little at all. Just some tounge clicking and meaningless words from Trump administration.

Deleted verbal diarrhea. You've already been politely asked once, so this time the politeness is not on offer:

What part of 'do not demand any particular view of US politics here' do you not understand ? You're entitled to whatever you believe about US politics. Others are entitled to whatever they do. You are NOT allowed to tell them what they should do here, or worse, indulge in namecalling.

Here we go again

U.S. Starts Probe Into Digital Tax Plans From EU to India
The Trump administration is starting investigations into digital services taxes considered by several trading partners from the European Union to India that could lead to tariffs being imposed on the countries’ exports to the U.S.

The probe announced Tuesday encompasses digital taxes that have been either adopted or are under consideration in Austria, Brazil, the Czech Republic, the EU, India, Indonesia, Italy, Spain, Turkey, and the U.K., according to the U.S. Trade Representative’s office in Washington. The move seeks to determine whether levies on electronic commerce discriminate against American tech giants like Apple Inc., Alphabet Inc.’s Google and Amazon.com Inc.

A so-called section 301 investigation by USTR can take months before a decision is made on whether to impose tariffs. The U.S. used the same avenue to conclude wrongdoing by China that led to tariffs on some $360 billion in goods from world’s second-largest economy.

USTR has launched and completed a 301 probe into France’s digital services tax regime but held off on levying duties on the country as the two sides are negotiating a global regime at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.

A USTR spokesman didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. A spokesman for Google declined to comment on the investigation but said the company is against “unilateral taxes.”

The investigations are a rare area of bipartisan agreement in Washington. Senators Chuck Grassley and Ron Wyden, the top Republican and Democrat on the Senate Finance Committee, said in a joint statement that the USTR is “appropriately examining” the digital taxes that “unfairly target and discriminate against U.S. companies.”

Tax Conundrum

The OECD is trying to find agreement among almost 140 countries on a global tax overhaul to address how multinationals -- particularly tech giants -- are taxed in the countries where they have users or consumers.

India in April expanded a digital tax that’s been in place since 2016, making it much broader than those in Europe. Spain is preparing a digital tax that would go into effect if no international agreement is reached by the end of this year.

The tax is in line with the EU proposal and initiatives already approved in other countries such as France and Italy, a press officer for the Spanish government said. It doesn’t discriminate against any company based on its nationality and will be applied objectively, based on a firm’s’ revenue and under the premise that taxes be paid wherever profits are earned, the person said.

Several other European countries -- including Austria, France, Hungary, Italy, Turkey and the U.K. -- have already announced plans for a digital services tax. Many others, including the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Latvia, Norway and Slovenia, have discussed implementing one.

Tuesday’s announcement could be a bone of contention in just-started U.S.-U.K. talks toward a free-trade agreement.

OECD officials are pushing to stick to an original deadline to reach an agreement this year, despite setbacks from the global pandemic, however some officials have already acknowledged the project could spill into 2021.

I am all for expressing concern and even offering advice, if needed. Heck, it's time we release reports on US human rights abuses since they don't actually have a watchdog and we can help given our experience.

But, I am also trying to understand diplomatese - wherein there is a line (to some extent, self-imposed) between meddling and staying away. Our stated foreign policy stance is to not interfere in others' internal issues, so where does "expressing concern" fall? Are we crossing that line or not? If so, then the HR report is only a matter of time...

USCIRF recommends 14 countries to the State Department for designation as “countries of particular concern” (CPCs) because their governments engage in or tolerate “systematic, ongoing, egregious violations.” These include nine that the State Department designated as CPCs in December 2019—Burma, China, Eritrea, Iran, North Korea, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan—as well as five others—India, Nigeria, Russia, Syria, and Vietnam.

There are three angles to this:

1. India angle:
I was very clear that placing India on CPC would not have happened without US state dept or whitehouse nod. With eradication of NGOs and proliferation of SM that made US cultivation of Indian press redundant, US was losing leverage over India. Is this a way of US getting it's leverage back?

2. Evanjihadi lobby: Another possibility is that the evangelical elements in Trump sarkar went overboard and pulled it off without formal clearance from POTUS. One of the Trump appointees voted against including India in the list.

3. China angle:
US is planning to use this to sanction China.

What about the timing?
Is this a warning to the foreign powers instigating these riots in the US or just a part of the cold war against China?

1. Placing India or any other country on the CPC does not have coordination with executive branch, that is DoS and Whitehouse. They may be given broad leeway, and if Israel was placed on such a list, then you would see someone in the executive branch complain about it. USCIRF is a congressional commission where commissioners are appointed between the executive branch and legislative branch leadership. The USCIRF does not answer to a cabinet level secretary. This distinction is important to understand how the US government works so that we can draw the correct analogous parallels to the GoI, if one exists.

2. The EJ lobby is strong. Trump needs these nuts for re-election and lets them run around with a bible wrapped in an American flag for his benefit.

3. This is one more stick to beat China and if India is lumped in there, then that's okay because they can tell the Chinese. See we're not discriminating...

4. USCIRF is influenced by congress. If next year, parties in charge of congress and the executive branch change, then we may see Republican appointees criticize India and the other side leave India out due to coordination between congress and the executive branch. I doubt that happens, due to the party's appeasment of Islamists, but it is a possibility.

@Mort, may be it's there but I didn't catch US ganging up on India for nuclear matters by acting as hired help of Chinese. Also, all the direct and indirect help to Chinese by Clinton. And, political instability in India post 1995. The list on slave makers can go on and on.

Darshanji,

It is too bad some of the oldies like Ulanbatori are not here who know this history well and can show you the entire time line. The Dems in the 1990s were hoping for the Balkanization of India and were working hand in glove with the Chinese and Islamists towards this goal. It is also this decade where technology transfer to the Chinese was the greatest. Everything from missile guidance , rocket propulsion, W88 warhead design, and aerospace development.

Wasnt Nixon elected when US was burning due to riots in 1968? Nixon was an outsider. Trump is an incumbent. If riots continue(seems they will for some time) and the S&P makes new high every week, Trump will win. As per astrology who many follow, November will see a massive spike in US dollar (its going up anyway) and also the market. Can Trump control the discourse until then?

Mod Note

One thing we do NOT want to see on BRF is our posters arguing foreign politics with each other and dividing each other in the process, i.e. blue on blue.

On here, you're BRF members posting in the context of India's wellbeing. You may think party D is best for that, or party R is. But that is entirely your prerogative. Do not attack one another for that belief. State the respective party policies and leave things as is.

Please do not under any circumstances bring the toxicity of US domestic political disputes on here. Or UK, or Vanuatu for that matter.

This is the fundamental reason for the mod action against poster hgupta. A comment like this is offensive and unwelcome here:
I am not interested in seeing BR becoming a pro-Republican forum
It is just as offensive if you plug in any other party name. Whether a poster is pro or anti some foreign political organization is their own concern. One can choose to disagree but please be very cognizant of where you are, and understand that foremost, the other poster has the interest of India at heart just as you do, and is just as entitled to believe what he might think is a better choice.
