I don’t know whether to thank the Ribeiro of the ‘80s, or laugh at the Ribeiro of 2020.
Since last few years, Ribeiro has become a Congress propagandist and takes potshots at BJP. Has to do with his Christian background

CJI Says It's A Dichotomy To Allow Killing Animals For Consumption While Not Allowing Killing Of Animals For Offering To Deity And Then Consuming
The appeal, filed by PE Gopalakrishnan, a Shakthi worshipper, claims that animal sacrifice is an integral part of his religious practice and the Order of the Kerala High Court which dismisses a challenge to the impugned Act, impinges upon his fundamental right under Article 25(1) of the Constitution of India.

The plea, filed by Advocate A. Karthik, states that the order of dismissal was passed without considering the contentions raised by the Petitioner in his application for impleadment before the Kerala High Court.

The grounds raised by the Petitioner include:

1) Unreasonably interferes with the rights of the Petitioners under Articles 25 and 26 of the Constitution of India.
.....
2) Violative of Article 14 of the Constitution of India
....
3) Impugned Act is repugnant to The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 (Central Legislation) and therefore, void in view of Article 254 of the Constitution of India.

[Breaking] Rajasthan Speaker vs Sachin Pilot : SC Refuses To Stay Rajasthan HC Proceedings; HC Judgment To Be Subject To SC Orders
"In this case, it seems party members cannot raise their own voice against their own party. Voice of dissent cannot be suppressed. They had all been elected by the people. Can they not express their dissent", he observed.

Though Sibal repeatedly tried to emphasize that the issue in the case was whether the High Court had power to issue a direction against the Speaker at an interim stage, the debates veered towards if refusal to attend party meetings could attract disqualification.

BJP will move to Court against six BSP MLAs joining Congress. BSP could also become a party in the case. @Mayawati has already demanded president rule in Rajasthan.

Why Sharad Pawar spoke out against the Ram temple

Pawar is trying to woo the Muslim community, which has shown a preference for the AIMIM over the NCP.
Of late, Pawar has been trying to occupy the secular space in Maharashtra that the Congress has been rapidly losing. In the recent past, Pawar had publicly opined that the Muslim vote would be crucial to government formation in the state moving forward. He pointed out that the BJP could not come to power in Maharashtra, despite being the single largest party, because of its lack of Muslim support.

It is no secret that Pawar has so far failed to woo Muslims, despite repeated attempts going back almost three decades. For instance, on March 12, 1992, when Mumbai was rocked was 12 bomb blasts in Hindu areas, Pawar, then CM, had falsely announced that there had been another blast in a Muslim area as well. He later claimed that he had done so deliberately, to prevent communal tensions flaring in the state. More recently, Pawar was among the first leaders to publicly use the phrase “saffron terrorism” in 2008, after bomb blasts in Muslim-dominated Malegaon left eight people dead. In the past decade, Pawar has also maintained the practice of attending the Iftar party in Mumbai’s Haj House, wearing a skull cap and breaking his fast with the city’s prominent Muslims. He has also offered political support to the community, promoting leaders like Husain Dalwai and Nawab Malik and helping them achieve positions of power.

So now it is clear that there is a concerted push. Hopefully Pilot will get the desired verdict from SC and his camp can join the floor test. Meanwhile not only the independents but also the 6 BSP wallahs are under target with Mayawati also supporting this. All these open fronts are a great way to keep Congis harried.

^^ Absolutely! but twists ..

Rajasthan HC can pass order on Congress MLAs' plea against speaker notice: SC
A three-judge bench of Justice Arun Mishra, Justice BR Gavai and Justice Krishna Murari was hearing a special leave petition (SLP) filed by the Speaker against the Rajasthan High Court's interim order on a plea of former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot and 18 MLA of his camp.

The apex court said that voice of dissent in a democracy cannot be shut down, however, added that the HC order will not be implemented as it is seized of the question raised by Speaker on the HC jurisdiction to entertain plea against Speaker's notice to rebel Congress MLAs.

The top court observed that the issue is tricky and needs prolonged hearing. "Let this matter be heard at length," the SC told Speaker's counsel Kapil Sibal.

"It is an important question relating to the future of democracy — whether dissenting views could be silenced through disqualification proceedings initiated by Speaker. This needs to be decided," the SC added.
1. Party members/MLAs/MPs CAN voice dissent against their own government/party.
2. HC CAN hear the case before it.
3. However, its decision cannot be implemented.
4. SC will hear the constitutional question in detail before HCs verdict is implemented.

Net-net, Pilot & his band of rebels get a reprieve for now till the SC opines on the larger question and it will take a while for that. IFFF a vote for trust is held now the Raj government is skating on thin ice.

this is to help in following correct social customs after any bereavement
RIP, Rest in Peace, आत्मा को शांति मिले are appropriate only for deceased abrahamics (jews/xtians/muslims) as their souls have to rest in graves till D-Day/Qayamat.

For deceased Hindus/Sikhs/Jains/Buddhists the appropriate condolence are: Sadgati, आत्मा को मोक्ष मिले, OM Shanti.

we are wondering if Shiv Shankar Menon, Shyam Sharan and N Menon have written any articles yet telling us Indians to not fight a superior China and seek an honourable existence.

Incidentally, all three are manchurian candidates and have a big role to play in past China policies.

Left leaning Babus of the MEA and RAW are themselves India's biggest enemies. China was right in its assessment.

Nirupama Menon Rao, निरुपमा राउ, بینظیر @NMenonRao · Jul 4
If I read China’s actions correctly, she is more than ready to burn all boats with India and is just waiting for us to make “strategic miscalculations” (her words) before doing so.

Quite an embarrassment for diplomats that armies are negotiating across the table than them

"Strategic miscalculation" by China looks to be:

1. Not anticipating world reaction to the incursion.
2. Raking up multiple disputes on several fronts with different players.
3. Entering into a military situation in spite of being suspect 1 for #COVID19
4. Hong Kong situation playing out to it's disadvantage.
5. Dependence on a bankrupt ally for a decoy front as a distraction strategy.
6. Miscalculation of Bharat's military response and subsequent retaliatory 'soft' measures.

They have till date seen a Nehru doctrine on China which was romanticism bordering utter foolishness & complete negation of Indian interest. All said & done, you too are from that school.

It is the “dyed in the wool” foreign service officials that have contributed towards the impotence of Indian foreign policy over the years. Too “politically correct” and hence totally ineffectual to face changing ground realities.

There should not have been any thoughts of gathering to begin with. The seriousness about chinese virus and reducing headaches for the country as it's preparing to go to war isn't instilled in the ruling party itself.

You haven't won a war over congress or emptied out peaceful occupied buffer zones or eliminated Chinese virus or eliminated poverty or brought Ram rajya to have processions like this.
A car rally in Surat to welcome Gujarat BJP chief CR Patil cancelled over social distancing concerns
https://www.deshgujarat.com/2020/07/24/ ... -cr-patil/
Surat: Thousands of BJP workers and supporters gathered here with as many as 1,000 cars to welcome local MP CR Patil who was visiting the city for the first time after becoming Gujarat BJP president. However Patil on his arrival at Surat airport told media persons that the rally was cancelled over concerns of social distancing.

Patil said he arrived at airport and saw the drone-captured pictures of 1500-2000 cars gathered for rally. Patil said he also felt that rally of over 1,000 cars in the city may create an issue, and therefore he decided to request the leaders to drop the idea of procession.

Patil said, ‘I was assured by party leaders and workers that they will take care of social distancing and also see that none is infected. The arrangements were also made well by them. But now kilometers of long queue of cars is there and we don’t want to take smallest risk in Covid-19 pandemic situation. They have feelings for me and they are willing to express it but I have requested that all of them gathered with 1500-2000 cars should leave the place and go back to back. At the same time I have also requested to postpone another rally of 1,000 cars planned tomorrow at Maroli, Navsari, Gandevi by party’s local MLA and leaders.’

Patil said he would meet party workers through web and other modes.

A one km long flag of BJP was brought to rally venue. The procession was to start at Valak Patiya and end at CR Patil’s office in Udhna area of city.

Also, India has asked three chinese journalists working for communist mouthpiece xinhua news agency to leave the country this month, after refusing to extend their visas.

Security agencies red-flag Chinese fronts in education, not just power and telecom

Jul 23, 2020

An exercise to minimise the role of power and telecom companies believed to be linked to the Chinese government could be expanded to cover other critical sectors such as higher education as well, people familiar with the development said after a July 15 review of the penetration of such companies and institutions in the Indian economy.

The high-level meeting attended by national security planners and a select group of secretary-level officials comes against the backdrop of the Chinese army’s aggressive moves along the Line of Actual Control that led to a stand-off from May this year. The two sides earlier this month started disengaging at the face-off points in eastern Ladakh after several rounds of talks but Beijing has been slow to pull back its troops.

Last week’s exercise was aimed at coming up with a comprehensive assessment of the footprint of Chinese companies and institutions that could be a proxy for the Chinese government or have close ties to the ruling communist party. “The initiative was driven by the top political leadership,” a government official said.

Much of the discussion at the meeting revolved around a presentation made by security agencies that put the spotlight on two core areas; telecom and higher education.

Security officials who briefed the top civil servants spoke about several instances of universities and colleges tying up with Chinese institutes through Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) without the requisite approvals.

A classic example cited by the security establishment was the Chinese-government funded Confucius Institutes to promote Han Chinese language and culture - typicality set up in association with a local partner institution.

In the telecom sector, security agencies pointed to the telecom department’s instructions to state-run phone company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, BSNL, to amend its tender to exclude Chinese equipment makers from a large 4G upgrade project.

But private phone companies often prefer Chinese equipment because they are cheaper. There have also been allegations that large tenders are tailored to suit Chinese companies. Industry body COAI had last month spoken against restrictions on private companies, insisting that geopolitical issues should be kept separate from corporate decisions.

The education and telecom ministries have been asked to review the Chinese involvement in the two sectors in light of the presentation made by the security agencies and chart the next steps for the sector.

The rule that requires approvals from the education ministry, home ministry and the external affairs ministry before signing pacts with Chinese institutions or universities isn’t new. On 1 October last year, the higher education regulator University Grants Commission told universities about the need for approvals for its courses. But it is unclear if the government followed up to ensure compliance.

That exercise is expected to start soon.

Beijing started setting up Confucius Institutes across the world in 2004 to promote Chinese language and culture in foreign countries. But as China started rolling out the institutes across the world, the Chinese government-funded outposts also started increasingly coming under the scanner of agencies in host countries. The initial concerns were only about academic freedom, institutional autonomy and reported instances of censorship. But some institutes started to shut after lawmakers expressed concerns that these served as a platform for chinese intelligence and political agenda. Some more, after the law prohibited the defence department from funding Chinese language programmes at institutes that host Confucius Institutes. These institutes have run into trouble in other countries as well including the UK, Canada, France, Australia and Sweden.

Of course it made sense to supply rice to chinese instead of arms to Tibet.
Nehru helped PLA forces to rampage and decimate Tibet by supplying rice in 1950s: Read details
https://www.opindia.com/2020/07/nehru-c ... ade-tibet/
In his book, Will Tibet Ever Find Her Soul Again?, Claude Arpi has made significant disclosures on how the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had supplied rice for the invading PLA troops in Tibet at a time when Chinese army was busy rampaging and decimating the Tibetan way of life and culture in the early 1950s.

“The most grotesque incident of this period was the feeding of the PLA’s troops with rice coming through India,” writes the France-born expert on Tibet and China. According to Arpi, without the active support of the Indian government, the Chinese troops would not have been able to survive in Tibet.

To overcome the food crisis for the PLA troops in Tibet, Chairman Mao and his comrades looked towards India. SK Krishnatry, the Indian Trade Agent (ITA) in Gyantse, wrote that the Chinese government had requested the Government of India “for an agreement allowing facilities for the transport of food and other supplies through India”.

The Chinese government wanted India to transit facilities for 10,000 tonnes of food grains through India. The Jawaharlal Nehru-led Indian government initially agreed only to allow the transit of about 3,000 tonnes of rice to Tibet.

This rice diplomacy between India and China continued for the next four years. India, on 20 October 1954, re-emphasised that it would continue to supply rice to the PLA stationed in Tibet. “Rice which China would buy was intended exclusively for Tibet, and only difficulties of transport have necessitated this purchase by China,” reported The Hindu then.

Ten months later, the first truck would reach Lhasa from the Chinese side. With China supplying rice directly to Tibet, imports from India wasn’t required anymore.

I was once attending a presentation on farming in the US and one of the guest speakers was a farmer who later became a state leader. He also had cattles. Somehow the topic came to groups like PETA. He told us that once PETA wanted to inspect his farm to ensure animals werenot abused. So, he invited them to his farm and couple of ladies came to conduct the inspection. After inspection, they were not leaving...farmer was wondering what was going on. Finally, one of the ladies blurted out that they like meat a lot and would like a fresh cut. shocked farmer eventually gave them some of the cuts. his view was these people are hypocrites.

Swapan Das Gupta had written this article on 14 December 2007 in The Telegraph, Kolkata. He was so incredibly prophetic then.

and he goes on to say sometime later:
In 2008 or 2009, I approached a leading publisher with a proposal to write a political study of the Modi phenomenon. Their editor got back saying that the staff was horrified at the very idea that a sympathetic study of Modi should even be considered.

1. Saket Gokhales father was a police officer and had been arrested/ suspended in a drug smuggling case and released.

This happened in Devendra Fadanvis's tenure in 2015 & seems to be the reason why Saket has a grudge over BJP.

2. A journalist first & then social worker, Saket claims to be inspired for social service by Rahul Gandhi & is staunch supporter of Congress party.

He also has filed a PIL in Allahabad High Court, with a hidden agenda of being a hinderance in the laying foundation in Ayodhya.

3. This PIL by Saket Gokhale has been obviously dismissed.

Before this though, he has been supported by all Shivsena/NCP/Congress officials & workers. Along with a controversial statement by Sharad Pawar excerpting, the covid pandemic wont be any lesser because of Ram Mandir.

4. Because of this PIL from Saket Gokhale, sentiments of people across the country who are eagerly waiting for the temple construction, after decades of successful legal battle, are hurted badly.

5. This gesture has been strongly condemned all over the country & Congress party has been
criticised for being anti Ram Mandir on social media.
Saket Gokhale has claimed, he received 138 calls in just 600 seconds from the RSS , which seems highly impossible!

6. A few people protested outside the residence of Saket, which was obvious as the action from him against Mandir had been condemned in Maharashtra too!

7. He made a laughebale accusation on the protesters outside his house, of being RSS 'goons' !
He informed himself about the protest through social media & Sachin Sawant, spokesperson of Maharashtra Congress, reacted immidiately upon it!

8. Taking cognizance of his tweet, Home minister Anil Deshmukh immidiately provided him a police protection.
No wonder upon the humanitarian approach of the HM on politically favourable VIPs unlike a common man, who have to scuffle for even an E-pass!

9. When video evidence of the said protests have came out, just because of the slogans or their attire, it would be unjustified to claim them politically allied to any party! More over that, the group of protesters promised not to injure Sanket physically!

10. All these events have raised a big question mark upon Congress party & its allies, as they're in power in Maharashtra, are they allowed to favour a person politically concurrent with them & opposing a legally won battle on Ram Mandir out of a vindictive approach on a party?

Mumbai couple exhaust Rs 4 lakh savings to feed 1,500
Mizga Shaikh (above) and her husband Faiyaz Shaikh used up the money saved to buy a house.

MUMBAI: When students at Zeal school, a small educational set-up in Malwani’s densely packed Ambhujwadi, told their principal they couldn’t afford to pay fees during the lockdown, she decided to give them a three month waiver. But chatting with her students revealed some of them barely had two square meals a day.

The principal, Mizga Shaikh, spoke to her husband, Faiyaz, and they decided to donate rations in the neighbourhood. Four months down the line, they have spent Rs 4 lakh from their personal savings and reached out to 1,500 people. The money had been saved up by the couple to buy a house. The beneficiaries of their donations cannot thank them enough.

“The lockdown has been very harsh on residents of Ambhujwadi, many of whom are daily wagers. When classes halted abruptly and schools everywhere started online classes, we too decided to go ahead. But students said their parents owned a single mobilephone and if their parents went off to do odd jobs, they would take the handsets along. We still tried to make a bunch of students sit together for classes over ‘Zoom’. But their parents didn’t even have money to buy books. That is when I took my teaching staff into confidence and waived off fees for all students for three months,” said Mizga, 38, who has been running the school out of five rooms for a decade. The school is yet to get a government recognition. When parents told her they were finding it tough to put food on the table, Mizga and her husband approached family friends and colleagues to pool in a sum. They started off by purchasing dry rations locally from Malwani and distributing it among students’ families.

“In the initial days of the lockdown, we stored sacks of rations inside the empty classrooms of our school. Gradually, a non-profit group chipped in,” said Faiyaz, 45. For eight weeks, the NGO organised for khichdi to be served to residents and the Shaikhs were involved in the distribution process. After the NGO packed up, the Shaikhs decided to continue the work. “We found out a place in Bhayandar where we could procure stocks from at better rates. We made 10 kg and 15 kg kits containing dal, rice, sugar, tea, oil etc. and started giving them out in Ambhujwadi. As word spread, some people living in Jogeshwari and Sion also came down for the rations,” said Faiyaz.

The Shaikhs meticulously maintained a record of all the beneficiaries. The work took up a lot of their time and it also meant spending less hours with their own kids-- a 13-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy. “But we will continue helping people as much as we can. Allah will help us save for our house again,” said Faiyaz, who works as a manager with a perfumes company, and has also dipped into his Provident Fund for raising money. Local youth have been volunteering to help with the ration distribution.

Not only food, the Shaikhs have also shelled out for medical expenses for a youth who had an accident. “A 22-year-old family friend slipped in the bathroom and lost consciousness. He had to be administered stitches on his leg and when we approached the Shaikhs for help, they footed the entire hospital bill,” said Shehzad Shamsher, an Ambhujwadi resident.

CR indicates shift in Gujarat BJP’s recent practice of inducting opponents to party’s fold
https://www.deshgujarat.com/2020/07/25/ ... opponents/
Gandhinagar: It seems there’s some policy shift coming in Gujarat BJP. For last few years, BJP in Gujarat is seen inducting number of Congress leaders to its fold, especially the MLAs. This now happens regularly ahead of general elections and Rajya Sabah polls. However today while addressing the party workers in Surat city, Gujarat BJP’s new president CR Patil questioned this convention and indicated a change.

‘I have just received a reporting as a State party chief that some Congress men have joined BJP in Kaprada where assembly seat by-poll is pending. I believe that, OK tell me, do we want the situation to continue that Congress persons join us or we need to induct them and then we win elections?’

Party workers loudly replied, ‘No’.

Patil continued and said, ‘this voice should go across the country that BJP workers fight and win on their own strength. That is their habit, that pride, that guts need to be put in action.

Patil further said, ‘we don’t need a situation in which that someone has to be inducted and then we become happy that with his induction we have become further strong. We don’t need that. We have to fight based on our strength. When I contest elections, Congress persons would come to me and convey their offer to help me. I would reply, hey you can’t help your own party with loyalty, and you are offering me your help? I have full trust on my own party workers. You continue to oppose me and fight against me in full strength. I don’t need your help. Gujarat BJP workers only have power to tell this.’

There are similar stories of lower or middle class people in other cities who spent several lakh hard earned money to feed poor. It is the strength of India. One of my friend who is a high ranking IT exec, woke up at 5am to cook kichadi to feed people who were queuing up for breakfast.

‘Promotes Tradition, Provides Employment’: PM Modi Hails Madhubani Painting-Based Covid Masks
https://swarajyamag.com/insta/promotes- ... ovid-masks

In his monthly Mann Ki Baat radio address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the women self-help groups in Bihar for making masks depicting Madhubani paintings. These masks have gained popularity during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Modi said, "This Madhubani mask not only propagates tradition but also provides employment to the people ensuring health and safety."

In his address, he also referred to the innovative use of the bamboo industry in the northeast. He said that artisans from Manipur, Tripura and Assam have started making quality water bottles and tiffin boxes from bamboo.

"If you look at their quality, you will not believe that bamboo bottles can be so decorative and eco-friendly. When you make them, bamboo is boiled with neem or other medicinal plants which also brings out medicinal properties in them," he remarked.

The Prime Minister also made a mention of the lemongrass cultivation by a group of people in Jharkhand. He said, "More than 30 groups in Bishunpur, Jharkhand cultivate lemongrass, which is ready in four months and its oil is sold in the market at competitive price and there is good demand for it."

Any person who's not a traitor would have termed this as an everyday task. However, this days everyone wants to associate their everyday task to big man's goals for brownie points. Just like one submits BS goals and accomplishments on annual review forms. All babus and ministers should be made to use the same convoluted processes that everyone has to follow to obtain their paychecks.
Indian Railways To Bring In New Clause To Promote Domestic Suppliers, Vendors In Procurement Process
https://swarajyamag.com/insta/indian-ra ... nt-process
The crucial decision was taken by the Railways during a review meeting with Union Minister Piyush Goyal held on Saturday (25 July) to assess the implementation of various steps to promote Made in India products in the procurement process.

The statement released after the meeting said, "It was felt that encouragement needs to be given to such vendors who can supply higher locally manufactured content. It was also suggested to create a FAQ section and a helpline number so that vendors may get clarity on various issues relating to the procurement process."

During the meeting, it was also decided that the Railways will also be instituting a user-friendly and web-based single step vendor interface for all its activities. It should give all interested vendors a clear idea of how to do business with the Railways, and all other relevant information.

Now why would an IPS officer be bothered by being transferred?
CM Yogi Adityanath Cracks Whip On Non-Performing Functionaries; Transfers 15 IPS Officers In UP
https://swarajyamag.com/news-brief/cm-y ... cers-in-up
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has cracked the whip on police officers who allegedly failed to control law and order in their respective districts and ordered the transfer and posting orders of 15 IPS officers.

Tiwari has been sent as SP (Railways) in Jhansi district.

Chitrakoot Dham Range DIG Deepak Kumar was posted as DIG/SSP of Ayodhya.

x-posting this video here..very rare good work from somoene in indian media

1. Problems in balochistan:
a. Drinking water problems and how PA shot civilians for water protests
b. destruction of fishery business
2. number of ports balochistan port: speciifcs of gwadar
a. In the video: Gwadar, Pasni, jiwani, ormara. Weak paki navy might find it hard to defend multiple thrusts on these areas
b. This link should also provide some more details on paki coasta resources, more than usual media
c. interesing facts about depths of different ports. Gwadar-17 mt, karachi 9-10 m. Surprises why paxis havent developed it yet. Potential reasons i thought were: i. Lack of seller ii. competition to karachi iii. prioritizing RIT (radical isl ter) over development
d. how china started thinking about it back in 2003. Look west chinese strategy. Role that gwadar plays
e. geographic advantage of gwadar
3. Chinese military presence in gwadar. I havent seen anything more detailed info balochistan/CPEC
4. How CPEC land has been claimed. Military has been instrumental in displacing the natives.
5. Electricity in Gwadar comes through Iran and it is not for commoners for corner plot army. Only 3-4 hours in gwadar.
6. Another business model of paxtani army in water tanker mafia. This makes me think even if paxtan is defeated militarily how will they be displaced from the civilian set up. Something like congress. In 70s east bengal was still not that deeply entrenched as the focus was on west paxtan. That needs to be thought.
7. 80% of coastline and fishery business has been self destroyed.

This is why the American editor of The Wire wants to silence IPS officer Nageswara Rao

Nageswara Rao highlighted the fact that there is an organised attempt underway to relegate the Hindu Civilisation to the dustbins of history. According to him, there is a deliberate to deny Hindus knowledge of their history and vilify Hinduism as a collection of superstitions.

https://www.opindia.com/2020/07/m-nages ... -islamist/
Founding Editor at The Wire, Siddharth Varadarajan, has hit out at former interim-director of CBI M Nageswara Rao after the latter spoke out against what he calls “Project Abarahamosation of Hindu Civilisation”. American citizen Varadarajan took great offence at the IPS officer for exercising his freedom of expression as guaranteed by the Indian Constitution.

Well, Devaki finally married M.N. Govindan Nair, who revived the CPI in Kerela and paved the way for their first victory in 1957.

Apparently, Nair, as a student was inspired by Nehru and dedicated himself to various social causes.

He is survived by a daughter who is a Supreme Court lawyer.
