Looks like all these folks are leaving for a state where they can have a decent living, warmer climes, and no state income tax state!
And then start running down Texas. Numbers of homeless and tent cities are also showing up in Texas. Just saw one in Austin and couldn't believe what Texas has come down to.

Unfortunately, Austin like other big cities like Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio are run by DemoCraps. Gov.Abbott is trying to legislate it.

Here's another cost of living indicator for all major metros in CA or other states:
https://www.salary.com/research/cost-of-living/ca

You can see the Bay Area is upto 86% more expensive than the average of the US. Now, this would be fine if salaries were commensurate, but they aren't. I know families who went to CA in the 1970s and 80s who bought a simple home in the Bay Area or Southern Cal and then sold 20-30 years later. They came out ahead and had nearly a $1M and moved back to their original states.

CA used to be a solid Republican state until the early 1990s. Moving to the suburbs was great and much better than say Houston or Dallas area suburbs which were quite rural back then. Then the SJWs and tax everything Dems ruined it. Now it is a matter of the middle class moving out of those CA suburbs into the Houston or Dallas area suburbs which have good schools and amenities. My other favorite state, Colorado, is going the same way as CA.

It is suprising to see WA up there - there is no state income tax in WA - but housing is expensive in Seattle metro area!

The more things change.....the more they remain the same. Gen Kumaramangalam's views on USA in 1947
"This country is not one that I will ever get fond of. I have not got a very high opinion of them. The people that I have to deal with are very kind, hospitable and have been very good to the two of us. But somehow I feel there is a trace of artificiality in that and also it is the result of trying to impress one. They I think are very jealous of the old world and its background and culture and this results in an aggressive inferiority complex. As for their state of morality, there is none. People seem to delight in trying to outwit each other by any means, mainly crooked. The politicians are racketeers and big business has a tight grip on everything in the country. The small country trader and the farmer I think have their hands securely tied by the big men. I do hope that our country proceeds with caution and doesn't get entirely under the influence of the States."[18]

US is a country with all major holidays that have been commercialized. One doesn't need any further proof than that. However, the ship seems to have sailed on that last sentence about not being under it's influence. From mayo on everything to Netflix to major commercialization of Diwali by online sellers to education centers to malls to Jio, everything's looking like US within India.

Goes both ways - as a Malloo, all I see is the US has started applying coconut oil on everything (from gums to guns), mindless in-law serials that they binge on and their presidential debate has started copying Asianet’s cookery shows were everyone talks nonsense at same time, complete with flies and mami :D

San Ramon Mayoral Candidate Criticized For Skipping Muslim Forum
https://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2020/ ... lim-forum/
SAN RAMON (CBS SF) — A San Ramon mayoral candidate received criticism earlier this week for declining to take part in an election forum sponsored by a Muslim civil rights and advocacy group.

A statement Monday from the Council on American-Islamic Relations’s (CAIR) San Francisco Bay Area Office condemned Sanat Sethy for what its leaders said was his “Islamophobia and fear-mongering rhetoric” in justifying not participating in a Sept. 30 San Ramon mayoral candidates forum online.

“Sanat Sethy made his intent to divide voters based on bigotry very clear and in doing so missed out an opportunity to pitch his platform and positions,” Aliza Kazmi, San Francisco CAIR’s advocacy manager, said in a statement.

Once a professor brings in significant grants and their salaries are paid mostly from these grants, prof attitudes become arrogant linearly proportional to their salaries. This is true even of public universities. They publish mediocre papers and become subject matter experts in obscure areas, then they’re set for life. Universities are reluctant to do anything until the prof gets caught in something criminal.

Think that the balance is tilting towards Trump- Pence ticket. It's not about the damage control but more about the fact that a Left leaning news outlet like the NYT published this. Are they reading the tea leaves for a GOP victory already? Why bring this up?

I don't think that this may affect voting as already people are casting votes in advance voting and through postal ballots. Streisand effect notwithstanding.

But yes, should Trump win they will use this as a fig leaf of why the Biden- Harris ticket lost. In that case will we see a Michelle/ Chelsea ticket next time?

Edited Later:

Errata it was the New York Post and not the usual suspects if NYT that published this. Still feel that the Biden candidacy is on whether grounds.

Watching the US media with the exception of fox and some independent commentary, most of the others hate Trump to an extent that if he says not putting a bullet in your brain is good for health. These people will gladly shoot themselves. Just to get one over Trump.

I am not looking forward to a Biden presidency. And all the identity politics that will be exported by the Yankees after that.

In 2016 almost all predictions including the last minute ones were wrong, to the extent NYT projected Hillary Clinton as President till they declared Trump. In a lot of Trump Red states, Republicans seem to have increased voter registrations this time. Many current prediction models are still stuck the same way they did before so in some what-if scenarios such as what if Trump gives the same surprise as in 2016 only a very few Trump states turn blue that too within 1%. So you need to check balance tilting away from Trump from last 2016 election than tilting towards Trump as media polls are not accurate.

Sikhs put pressure on officials to solve 'hate crime' homicide
Joe Goldeen The Record
https://www.recordnet.com/story/news/20 ... 670992001/
...
Harpreet Sandhu, executive director of the American Sikh Caucus Committee based in Washington, D.C., classified Parmjit Singh’s murder as a hate crime, causing “deep, deep sorrow” not only to his family but the entire Sikh community.

He was incredulous when describing how the court could release the suspect for lack of evidence when, he said, that evidence included 17 different witnesses; GPS locations from the suspect’s phone showing him in the park at the time of the crime, going home afterward and returning the next day to retrieve his car; and the suspect seen jumping a fence and running away from the park.

“Evidence, witnesses, and yet this judge has said there is a lack of evidence and witnesses. Granted, we are hoping that the district attorney and the city of Tracy Police Department will file this case immediately with the evidence to be produced in front of the judge,” Sandhu said.

Many people who support Trump are not answering polls, or they answer falsely to avoid retribution of being accused as a racist. It isn’t worth upsetting relations in a work place or professional setting. People like myself nod their head and agree, Trump is bad, and only my closest friends and family know my political leanings. Trump supporters are not those wearing red hats and paraphernalia. They are quiet.

The quietness is there even if it's not going to upset any relationships like in my case where most support the present course. In my setting, this quietness could be attributed to the seriousness of not staying the present course and everyone waiting for the result. I thought that I had posted earlier about that. Not sure in which thread.

In the end it all comes down to who shows up at the polling stations. The democrats so far have executed a well thought out plan to limit Biden's exposure and there by limiting his gaffes and display of his falling mental ability, they've scripted all his interviews and let the barrage of ads do the campaigning. Trump on the other hand should have passed the 2nd stimulus, now he sounds desperate by claiming his proposal of another round of stimulus is larger than what the democrats are demanding, this after spending much of the previous weeks saying the 2T dollars demanded by the dems is outrageous . The other baffling thing is Trump's advisors seem to have served him poorly when it comes to prepping him for coronavirus related questions. Those questioning his government's response should know that the US deaths/million is near same or lower than many European countries, and these european countries have the advantage of being geographically small compared to the US. Also, US has tested an astonishing 40% of its population for covid so far , incredible given the 330 million population. Not to mention some of the worst hit states are democrat run states and cities, and there is nothing to indicate the federal govt did anything to harm the pandemic fighting ability of those states. Strangely, despite the totally expected line of questioning Trump has failed to articulate the performance of his government's response to the pandemic, this and the stimulus is what has put his campaign on rough turf.

Even if Trump pulls a miracle and gets re-elected , i really wonder what will the political landscape look like in US say in 20 yrs time when the white population declines even more and the hispanic and black population continues to rise ?

Saw a very interesting docu on last months of Veitnam war.
Nixon Kissinger combo making some disasterous decisions and letting VC groups ( the invasion into Combodia stopped 3 miles short of VC head-quaters there)
And interesting talks of GI joes condescending attitude on handing over equipment to South Vietnam soldiers and their own trigger happy attitude of emptying mag into the bush most often not hitting anything!! except the vegetation
I am worried if the similar combo of present POTUS and the Sec of State handing Afgan on a platter to Talibunnies!!!
If Biden wins that will just allow Paki/Chini combine with Talibunnies and Turdogan to run wild!!!
What would be Quad status then!

It will come down to if Trump supporters vote in large numbers. In most polling, Biden will win if he is ahead by twice the Margin of Error (MoE). At this time, Biden will win Michigan and Wisconsin. Pennsylvania is very close, but Biden will win it as the Green Party is not on the ballot since the Democratic Party controls the state supreme court with a 5-2 advantage. Expect law suits, rioting and election violence. I really wish the MEA in India issues a travel advisory notice for Indians in the US. This is going to get ugly regardless of which side wins.

Folks - my question was not to trigger an election discussion but more towards understanding the political mindset of the voters in the US. What i see there are huge crowds in trump rallies despite the pandemic, obviously they are not being paid and bussed to the venues. On the other side I see the poll numbers for Biden being very high, doesnt add up. What drives the voters in the US is my larger question with the two above factoids considered.

the same as what happened the last time around. It didn't add up then too.

trump will win but there will be a lot of bad blood and commie instigated rancor to sour the entire electoral process and cast a pall over the deepening social divisions that are so rampant, overt and clearly visible in ameriki society.

obama is the biggest and the most crooked SOB there is on the ameriki political scene today, closely followed by hillary and her ever horny husband as shadowy movers of the (BAF).

there are a lot of BIF like backers (BAF) operating in the ameriki environment, all out to reconfigure the ameriki state and set a new commie narrative.

contrast this with our own "flawed" democracy with, as per the elite whiteys, semi literate caste driven Indian voters who don't know any better and every single time, the worlds largest democratic exercise goes off with very little or almost no violence and the transfer of power after such an election is always smooth and visibly so.

in the meanwhile, michelle is being dusted off and powerful backers may be prepping her for a run at the white house box office come the next elections.

nothing much to chose between her and the "black baptist" mylapore maami.

The crowds will be present where there are actual campaign rallies, Trump is doing actual campaign rallies where as much of Biden's campaigning has been through ads and him reading off scripts in front of a camera. Again, the poll numbers for Biden will hold up if those claiming to support him actually go out and vote. Looking at the early voting trends of the minorities , it looks like Biden's election to lose. Brad Parscale and Bill Stepien have really not served Trump well, and Trump has himself not helped his chances much by failing to articulate his govt's performance & constant flip-flopping on issues.

With most people sitting at home, they will vote.
Trump from beginning of COIVD crisis, behaved very impulsively. He is going off the rails. Now he is talking of leaving the country if he loses.

Most Republicans are reading the tea leaves. Trying to distance themselves from him. This is not Pro Biden. This is anti T vote

What i see there are huge crowds in trump rallies despite the pandemic, obviously they are not being paid and bussed to the venues. On the other side I see the poll numbers for Biden being very high, doesnt add up. What drives the voters in the US is my larger question with the two above factoids considered.
Bottom line: US polling is incorrect and there is considerable variation from state to state.
