If the liberals are screaming, that means it is an excellent move. Use the opportunity to do something bigger for Patel to "placate" the liberals. Next step would be to find something named after SC Bose and name that after Modi (or Amit Shah (!), or better yet, Manohar Parrikar). Let them scream about that, and then build up Bose to placate them.

In this matter, liberals are still brain-dead. They scream and whine and make their intent perfectly clear. Use that signal as your touchstone before they learn and get more sophisticated. It would be hard for them to break this habit anyway, given that their whole modus operandi is based on outrage to begin with.

It's the street dog effect. Sometimes on streets in India, they bring an elephant which walks sedately along, collecting coins and showering blessings on the donors. The street dogs freak out each time, trailing along a respectable distance behind, barking their heads off. The elephant doesn't even notice them. The dogs follow the elephant all the way down the street until it exits, and then go back to sleep, satisfied that they chased the mighty elephant away by their barking.

What would you do if you wanted to tire these dogs out to death? If I were really mean, I'd send in one elephant every half hour. So the dogs don't have a chance to recover and are at it all day. They have no time to go barking at the real threats, engaged as they are in scaring away the huge elephant. Either the dogs adapt to having an elephant wandering into "their" street at will, or they bark themselves to death. Their choice.

There's a website called drik panchang that advertises itself as Hindu calendar website. However, today it has Hazrat Ali day on calendar. Is that a Hindu thing? Does anyone know jaichands running this website? I'm surprised that no one has called this website out and exposed them.

Drik Panchang has all traditions' festivals AFAIK, even Yom Kippur, Good Friday, New Year etc. I don't think it's a question of jaichands-- the app makers just want to maximize their user base by including every festival or public holiday that could be relevant to any Indian. Similarly, old-school calendars like Sharda Press panchangam (which used to hang on the kitchen wall of my parents' flat in Mumbai) show Abrahamic holidays as well as Hindu festivals, tithis, and such.

In some ways this is actually a good thing. The overwhelming focus of Drik Panchang is to inform and educate about Indic traditional festivals, calendar systems, etc. Almost everyone who downloads it is going to be of Indian origin with at least some baseline level of interest in Indic knowledge systems. Any Muslim or Christian who actually downloads and uses it cannot help becoming immersed in the Indic perspective. All said and done, it's more likely to have a ghar-waapsi effect in our favour than a digestion or inculturation effect against us.

1.Granting Disha bail on merits fine but pomposity? “Citizens are conscience keepers of govt” in any democracy. Does this include citizens who are maoists, radicals, burn public property, desecrate Red Fort, pelt stones? “Wounded vanity of govts”. Sounds judicial or political?

I said so when people were kicking up a storm on social media last year to postpone NEET (Swamy army poured plenty of fuel on the fire hoping it would burn the govt) that this was BIF's continuation of JNU hostel protests and anti-CAA agitation, but then NEET went on smoothly, covid cases dropped and the BIF found a lightening rod in form of farm bills. Now that farmers agitation is fizzling out they are desperate to bring the youth back on to the streets to protest, so we have "Modi rozgaar do" increasing in intensity. A large group of people who have taken or are yet to take SSC CGL/Railway board exams are gathering in Delhi to protest about employment. Remember Prashant Kishore's tweet a month ago about why the government is not allowing colleges to resume despite covid cases dropping ? Well, now we know why. They once again want JNU/DU/Jamia Milia to organize protests and riots.

Truth be told the highly incompetent HRD ministry is responsible for some of this mess. The SSC CGL exam notification was in early 2018 with proposed exam dates middle of 2018, after many postponements the exams finally took place in Dec 2019, but the results are yet to come out more than an year after the exams. Same with Railways, the exam notifications came out in late 2018, the exam dates were announced in 2019 and we are in 2021 and the exams are yet to be conducted. With one of the largest youth population in the world unemployment is a huge issue in our country. While much of it can be attributed to our sheer population and a declining quality of education, the government bureaucracy in its own hiring process does no one any good.

If citizens went after judiciary standing in a way of holding judiciary accountable, would they still be granting bails? It's easier to do it when citizens are going after non judiciary institution.

Ambarji,

No one knows the sun tzu logic of NaMo and company not going after certain areas. They are certainly aware. They didn't do it while ruling GJ and they are still not doing anything while in center. If anything, dharmic money going into non dharmic institutions have increased many fold in GJ over last twenty years. And there's no doubt that Modi himself doesn't know what's going on with brainwashing as he said himself in recent times when talking about Suheldev.

I think a cabinet reshuffle is 2 years overdue starting with ousting Javedkar, Ravishankar Prasad and Tomar. You cannot blame 50,000+ students for losing their patience when they have been waiting for results for more than an year now after nearly waiting for 2 yrs for the exams . Agreed that its not the first time there has been a long delay in conducting exams or announcing results, but as the population grows and finding jobs becomes harder and harder it is imperative the government does some housekeeping to speed up hiring in its own departments.

In other news there is transporters strike tomorrow to protest against high fuel prices. This after already everyone from state transport buses , autorickshaws to my local kirana store have increased the prices on everything blaming it on increase in petrol prices. The center needs to be very vigilant the next few months because we have a ripe situation of high inflation, youth and farmers unrest, a highly active BIF network all coming together at the same time.

I don't know about other states but in GJ lot of BIFs, bureaucrats, and politicians run various modes of transportation behind the curtains. For example, in one big city in GJ, majority of tempos are ran by a group of people who get govt salary.

In Karnataka, the state government (both Congress and BJP) have done a decent job when it comes to road transport. KSRTC is probably the best run state owned transport company in the country, and its no wonder that they were the first ones to introduce worldclass Volvo buses, low floor Volvo city buses, Mercedes and Scania buses and direct buses from airport to some major city etc. That said there is also a very strong private bus and truck industry who lobby hard to keep Indian Railways out of lucrative routes. Rickshaw unions are demanding a 40% hike in minimum fare blaming it on high fuel costs, the truckers have already increased the tonnage fares and after violent strikes last month, the Karnataka state govt is mulling increasing the bus fares across the board.

Patel asking for something to do with Solanki. One would have thought that Solankis would have abandoned congress on this simple point alone.
Renown city doctor writes letter to CR Patil seeking Ahmedabad to be renamed as Karnavati
https://www.deshgujarat.com/2021/02/25/ ... karnavati/
...
Patel in his letter reminded BJP that it had decided to rename Ahmedabad as Karnavati many years ago and now with a grand victory in Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC), the BJP should rename the city as Karnavati.
...
Some factual errors in Dr. Patel’s letter

– Dr. Patel has in his letter opined that with over 75 percent majority of BJP councilors in AMC, the city’s name can now be changed as per constitution’s provisions. The fact is, there’s no requirement for 75 per cent majority in AMC for renaming the city. Constitutional amendment is not required to change the city’s name. The final decision on renaming of city has to be taken by union Home ministry. The request can be made by elected civic body/ the State government with any number of elected representatives.

– Dr. Patel has mentioned that February is Karnavati’s birthday. NO that’s not true. February 26 is not the birthday of Karnavati city established by Karnadev Solanki. It is the birthdate of Ahmedabad city which has replaced earstwhile Karnavati.

Personal agenda’: UK court on Markandey Katju’s testimony in Nirav Modi trial
In his testimony, Katju had said in the court that India was in terrible economic collapse and the (ruling) BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) were trying to solve the problem but they did not know how to, so they found scapegoats and Nirav Modi is a scapegoat for causing financial crisis in India.
In his judgement, reviewed by HT, Jude Sam Goozee said – “I attach little weight to Justice Katju’s expert opinion. Despite having been a former Supreme Court judge in India until his retirement in 2011 his evidence was in my assessment less than objective and reliable. His evidence in Court appeared tinged with resentment towards former senior judicial colleagues. It had hallmarks of an outspoken critic with his own personal agenda.”

The Judge further said that he found Katju’s “evidence and behaviour in engaging the media the day before giving evidence to be questionable for someone who served the Indian Judiciary at such a high level appointed to guard and protect the rule of law.”

I am perfectly OK with this. The voting public needs to understand that Sardar Patel was NOT insulted, as the Liberandus are screaming (the same people who were happy to deny him Bharat Ratna for decades). In any case, Modi it too popular for this to make any difference.
That clarifies things. Poster amdavadi mentioned the same thing in the sports thread - the old cricket stadium was and is named after Sardar Patel and continues to function even today, albeit only for domestic matches: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sardar_Va ... _Ahmedabad

Govt invites applications for 1,619 post of doctors; only 530 appear in interview
https://www.deshgujarat.com/2021/02/25/ ... interview/
...
Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) had recently announced vacancies for 1,619 medical officers in the State government (Gujarat Medical and Health Service, Class-II – Medical Officer and Insurance Medical Officer). Against 1,619 vacant posts advertised for recruitment, only 795 candidates actually qualified at the end of the written competitive exams. Out of these 795 candidates, only 530 candidates uploaded documents (degree etc), and from 530 who passed written exam and also uploaded documents, only 265 candidates appeared for interviews. Needless to say, they all were selected. How many of them actually appear and join job still remain a question.
...
When asked whether same happens while recruiting candidates for any other stream, Shri Dasa replied, ‘this doesn’t happen in any other stream. For example, in Engineering field, 350 posts are to be filled, for which over 30,000 applicants are going to appear in exams and none of them generally remains absent.

This worrying situation clearly explains that while the government’s efforts are sincere, there are takers to respond in equal number. It’s worth noting that doctors recruited under this drive would get around Rs. 70,000 salary per month to start with, in addition to benefits availed to government servants.

I think Nirmala Sitaraman is attempting to do what pappu and co. failed to do in the last 6 yrs. For the 8th time since December the household LPG cylinder price has been hiked yet again by Rs 25 today, that's Rs 200 increase per cylinder since December 2020. The commercial LPG rates have gone up by Rs270 in the last 2 months. To make matters even worse the direct subsidy to consumers, which was one of the achievements of Modi-1 govt, also stands suspended. All transporters and trade unions have called for a Bharat band in protest today.

No one, i mean not even 3rd generation RSS karyakartas i speak to is happy about the current situation. The government needs to cut spending and go after the income tax defaulters instead of screwing over the middle class and the poor. There's only so much people can take before the anger boils over. I don't know about other states but if there was to be snap polls in Karnataka, INC will come back with a thumping majority.

Btw, the disconnect between disney economics and imaginary "healthy inflation" rates calculated by economists Vs the rigors of daily life for a common man here's some dose of reality. The fuel price increase has created a cascading effect on daily essentials - as of today the price for a kilo of onions is Rs 50, Okra Rs 80, Cucumbers Rs 70, carrots Rs 40, Oranges Rs 75, bananas Rs 60, black grapes Rs 150.Sunflower oil Rs 136, Toor dal Rs 130 - Rs 140, masoor dal Rs 110. On an average in the last month alone these items have seen anywhere between Rs 20 to Rs 40 increase, for some perishable commodities the prices have doubled compared to June 2020.

Keep looting the middle class with high fuel prices. Buggers are shameless and spineless. I pray for the day Yogi takes over and this vishwaguru is made to sit in some forest spouting inane gyans. Every month, there is a slight 10% increase in opex when taken in combination of grocery prices, fuel prices and travel expenses.

Yup, too many self goals are being taken here, and a small businessmen having to fight delayed payments, GST outgo and a pain to desperately beg for collections to pay staff salaries. From a economic point of view I am doing Not for Profit business in my For profit business, I was salaried person for 12 years, believe me better to be a salaried person rather than a small businessman in services, the year has been a disaster. IT refund is also not being processed.

I have worked super hard for no reward, only Ram temple and the outright anti national nature of the opposition(who support what PFI will do) is keeping my support for the BJP- but for a common Middle class person it will be very tough to see people voting for BJP in this assembly elections.

They dont seem to have any strategy. When people are suffering they will name stadium after PM with Adani and Ambani end- this pure bad optics. They are scoring self goals without any thought process. Most people are not going to the thinking about checkmating China, LCA orders, investment in Rail infrastructure, not issuing fresh oil bonds, all sane stuff but will not win votes.

This Petrol/Diesel price with 33 Rs Central tax on Petrol is a very bad self goal. Gas cylinder price up 200. The rupee also can pushed up to 68 or so. exports are not going up anyways.

Mean while some thing is cooking in the Indian National Congress, with a 'rebel group' firmly in place. No wonder Modi spoke about G.N Azad's exemplary contributions to democracy & parliament etc. etc. :rotfl:
Another Revolt? Ghulam Nabi Azad's Homecoming Shifts Congress Battleground to Jammu. Kapil Sibal is also part of this group.

There is more to it. Mainly in Asia; look at countries which are always in the radar of western countries (US & its side kick UK et.al). It is India (majority Hindu), Myanmar (majority Budhists), Sri Lanka (majority Sinhala Budhists). In any country which does not have an X'ian or Islam majority, fissures are introduced in the society and the country and its leadership will have to spend all energy in fire fighting. Any society which is not having an Abrahamic religion majority is now facing threats of extermination or conversion.

Read the news about the 'new rebel camp' in the news I posted above. Kapil Sibal is one of the rebels. But I will never believe that Kapil Sibal has any thing good in mind for India. Looks like the whole family is into this 'lawyer' business and that Supreme court levels. Perhaps it may be a good excercise to come up with the family trees of 'eminent jurists' in India, especially at higher courts. People are generally worried about 'political dynasties', but dynasties else where often fly under the radar.

Except for the gang in the bolded part, I am in favour of helping every other group. Fuel prices are sky rocketing and this is one area where Modi & Co are always on the defensive and generally just to push issues under the carpet. I am hearing stories of LPG subsidies (in DBT mode) are stopped/delayed in some areas, while it is arriving on time in other areas.

I am not even an amateur economist, so Gurus here can any one explain why the fuel prices and LPG prices are sky rocketing? Why can't the government bring in any regulation here? The standard excuse seems to be "fuel prices went out of GoI ambit when MMS was in power. No fuel companies decide the price.". No one buys it, and sooner or later people will start voting for parties offering freebies (with minimum paper work).

Nobody will claim salary- if you are making real money, you will have a few Companies, Partnerships and in some case Trusts, where all the money will be made and bought in thier name. The real rich fat cats , have some Salary Income, Interest Income, Rental Income, Dividend Income, Speculative Income , Currency trading Income, Capital Gains etc. they are ones who are not depended on their work. In India once your Salary cross 1 Lac rupees per month the office politics starts as a lot of unqualified people with no real skill target the person with cunning tricks, similarly many Salaried people are do unreasonable bargains and very poor at processing payments.

Now that India's policy has been openly declared at the UN, the pakis can hardly claim that India is the aggressor

on another front, it appears that the pakis are groveling and hoping to return to their aman ki tamasha rhetoric and the gullible Indians are buying it once again. FATF has hit them squarely in their islamic chaddies and the hans have doubtless pushed them to this state because their CPEC ROI is at stake.

India will, as usual, snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and fall over themselves to kandle kiss their taqiya spouting islamic brethren.

Income will be claimed in partnerships and Companies who will pay the tax, not in your individual name. Most of the tax paid under Income tax is Corporation or Corporate tax, Partnerships tax, tax on individuals is a very small portion of Income tax collected.

We have a small family business that does road and building contract for BBMP. We also do some building contract for small houses. We get our payment after 2 years and this is for nearly 80% of our capital. The rest is profit after two years. Even then, it gets held for some amount of time as quality guarantee for EMD and FSD. We don't get GST bills from our vendors as they are small time sand and other material suppliers mostly. The beg for payment totally takes new meaning when dealing with govt officials for 2 years after single payment, yet it is far better having 40lak+ CTC and taking 2 lakhs home and spend from there.
Regarding corporate and various other company taxes, this is all payed by the company after deducting expenditures like car and office rent and others. Some pay office rent to their own spouses by keeping office building in their name  . Anyways, Reliance chairman takes 1 lakh per month salary. The rest is expenses from Jio.

I can assure that it is common now in most Mid and high level IT companies in Bangalore for slogging yourself for the past 18 years. You get 2 lakhs in hand anyways and thats the frustration.

mylapore mami gets a harsh reality check

do black lives really matter, or is the massa merely joking when he says that they do

or does it depend on whether the black is the house variety or the plantation kind

for all those wokes in India who thought that the MM was occupying an exalted position in the biden administration, riding shotgun, as it were ...........

well, here goes nothing

turns out that bidenwa is a warmonger in the obama mold.

This article is misleading. The subsidy amount was reduced to zero last year due prevailing prices, but the subsidy policy itself exists. Per the FM herself, there is a committee that reviews the subsidy amount periodically and adjusts the subsidy. Apparently, the amount right now is ₹28 per cylinder. It's not much, I agree, but it exists. In fact, this low amount was the question raised by the journalist Rangaraj Pandey in this Tamil interview of NS from last week, the answer to which she clarified about the committee.

It would be interesting to see what are the overall yearly effects due to price hikes for income tax payer vs non income tax payer. For example, a salary person getting paycheck after taxes vs some maid getting pay without having to worry about taxes.
