Saar, please read the entire letter. In the very next sentence, Modiji goes on to say “For this, an environment of trust, devoid of terror and hostility, is imperative.”

It’s probably a message regarding all this track-thoo stuff going on, that there can be no peace without dismantling the terror infrastructure first.

Don't worry about it. The PKMKB message from Dilli is 100% intact.

During the Trump era it was "tere maa ka B."

Now it is "Aap ke maa ka B, huzoor".

And Blinken-Sullivan types can feel pleased with themselves about how gracious we are being.

Thaw in India-Pakistan relations as Indus Water Commission meets after two years
'Cordial' discussion between neighbours comes after two years of tense relations
Mandira Nayar March 23, 2021

It is officially a thaw. In the first major engagement between India and Pakistan after a deep freeze post the scrapping of article 370 in 2019, a meeting of the Indus Water Commission was held on Tuesday.
The meeting comes after a gap of two years. On the agenda is the rather contentious issue of hydropower projects that India has cleared in Ladakh, which Pakistan has objected to. While there has been no official statement as yet—there is a possibility of a joint statement later—sources claim the discussions were “cordial’’ and centre around old projects.
“Pakistan wants to have friendly relations with all countries including India,’’ said Charge d’ Affairs Aftab Hasan at the Pakistan Day event held at the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi on Tuesday. To achieve peace both countries shall resolve all outstanding issues, he added.
The meeting of the Indus Water Commissioners may be the first tangible engagement between the two countries in a long while, but it comes on the heels of signalling of softening on both sides. In February, the two sides surprised the world by conjuring up a mythical beast in the world of the India-Pakistan relation: The joint statement.
“The two sides reviewed the situation along the Line of Control (LoC) and all other sectors in a free, frank and cordial atmosphere," the statement said. “In the interest of achieving mutually beneficial and sustainable peace along the borders, the two DGMOs agreed to address each other’s core issues and concerns which have the propensity to disturb the peace and lead to violence." Both sides agreed to strictly observe “all agreements, understandings and cease firing along the LoC and all other sectors with effect from midnight 24/25 Feb 2021," the statement read.
The agreement—which indicates that there were channels open between the two governments despite the hostility—has sparked off various theories. There is a suggestion of the American nudge—President Joe Biden wants to ensure a stable Afghanistan—as well, as well as a report by Bloomberg on Monday that suggested that the UAE brokered the deal. The ministry of external affairs has not issued a statement so far.

Talks begin on India’s disputed hydropower projects
Amjad Mahmood, March 24, 2021

LAHORE: Pakistan and India began their first talks under the Permanent Indus Commission in two and a half years in New Delhi on Tuesday to resolve the longstanding dispute over the hydroelectric projects India is building on the River Chenab.
Reuters news agency quoted an Indian official as playing down prospects for a “breakthrough” in the ongoing talks. Pakistan’s delegation could not be contacted for its comments despite several attempts by Dawn.
Pakistan is concerned that India’s plans for hydroelectric plants — Pakal Dul and Lower Kalnai dams — on the Chenab in the disputed region of Kashmir would damage the flow of the river into its territory.
On the other hand, India defends the construction of the dams by saying they are allowed by the Indus Water Treaty brokered by the World Bank.
“It is our job to find a middle path. But to say we can achieve something is maybe a bit too optimistic,” an Indian official involved in the talks told Reuters. “There are many things on which we can’t compromise,” he added.
The talks are set to end on Wednesday (today).
In recent weeks, the two countries have taken some tentative steps like resumption of a ceasefire on the Line of Control to improve ties and conciliatory gestures made by both sides.
Pakistan’s Indus Commissioner Syed Mehr Ali Shah, who is leading the country’s eight-member team, could not be contacted despite attempts as his cell phone remained switched off.

What should we make of this interview
Basit chap is totally against Badmash but the timing of this interview is a bit suspect!!
Furthermore do all the Corps Commanders in agreement with Bajwa's peace overtures
This Basit chap wont utter these on the Indian Channel ( regardless of Wire and Karan Thappad)
So what do we make of this:
1. Change of guard at GCHQ Pindi???
2, Derail any peace overtures
3. Expect a Mumbai type attack
4, Dim will be suicided??
This is chap least liked in FO in Pak and this is the chap who asked Dhoti Roy to write on Cashmoore??
Wonder who was this chap's boss or who he was working : Is he dyed-in-wool Jihadi with deep connections to a group hell bent on taking Napak to the stone-age.
I know some of the points I have raised may be bit wild but anything is possible in Napak

We are so lucky that we have neighbors like Pak & Chinis, who keep us on our toes. Otherwise even a hint of "aman & tamasha", GoI will run towards hugging and peace.

Pak & Chinis use this behavior of ours to the hilt. Lahore, Mushraff, Manmohan's "peace park", Modi visit to Pak, Modi-XI meets.. talk peace and then hit in the back.

Pak are obessed with us. Just as GoI is obsessed with this "peace with Pak & China" bug.

Nah this is standard practice for anyone who has written a book and trying to sell it. Obviously the target audience is Indians, and something outrageous has to be said on air pointing to something outrageous being said in the book for copies of it to be sold.

But if PTI membership/office comes as a result of throwing NS under the bus, that is icing on the cake.

Yesterday my wife told me about a Paki girl who is going "viral" with a "Pawri (party) ho rahi hai" meme and everyone is making versions of it.

Watch for this girl to soon start making statements on Cashmere. :D She will soon be on twitter and start spouting opinions on Islamophobia and freedom for Cashmeeris. A new Malalalalalala in the making modeled on Gretaji.

The aman tamasha might be to divert some "facsism" muck, withe new administration. Later we can say, we tried.

I am confident the terror group and its fountain head will revert to some attacks, as we will delay any attempts of forced peace and thing don't progress as wished.

India won't talk until the terror groups are dismantled, while pak will not talk anything other than cashmere.

If I have to bet my money on one I will put it on 3. Pak has a habit of doing this periodically and at some politically opportune time. They might want to do something to gauge our, US, and China's intentions in the neighborhood.

rNDTV is a known media pimp. I have continuously accused rNDTV of US SD paid channel into India. And rNDTV does not have India's interests, to the point that it is an unwritten compact that rNDTV is not linked in this pages.

rNDTV shadow bans several of BRFites and nothing wrong in not linking their biased and anti-India posts over here.

Now coming to the statement from GOI, remember, GOI and India's goal is to pursue peace and prosperity. If our rabid dog of a neighbour wants to wag its tail for a bone for a brief while, why not throw a bone? Its real politik.

Also I get the feeling that the average BRFite is a under-confident overtly humble bunch. Take the case of the trial balloon from Gelf (I do not want to call it Middle-east, since India's middle-east is indo-china sea). Is it possible that the trial balloon came from gelf so that it will be a smooth for our north-west erstwhile part and now a kabila country can take it easy? Will it not draw out some who want to throw in the towel?

Pakistan wants to have good relations with its neighbours. It's imp that instead of war we work towards eliminating poverty & illiteracy. It'd only be possible if there is peace: Aftab Hasan Khan, Charge'd Affaires, Pakistan High Commission (1/2)

For peace to prevail, issues must be resolved through dialogue especially J&K that has been going on for 70 years: Aftab Hasan Khan, Charge'd Affaires, Pakistan High Commission (2/2)

Covax vaccines for poor countries delayed by India: Gavi spokesperson

India is holding up export licences for Covid-19 vaccines destined for poor countries due to increased domestic demand as its own cases rise, Covax facility co-leader Gavi has said.

The AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine is being produced under licence in India for the Covax scheme, also led by the World Health Organisation (WHO), which is meant to ensure that low-income countries can access Covid-19 jabs.

“Delays in granting further export licenses for Serum Institute (SII) of India-produced Covid-19 vaccine doses are due to the increased demand of Covid-19 vaccines in India,” a Gavi spokesman told AFP.

SII is manufacturing vaccines for 64 lower-income countries via Covax, and for India's domestic vaccination campaign.

Hindustan times gives a lot of coverage to such news from Pakistan. I have frequently found Pakistan specific news the main page of their online edition when the news is not covered by any other major media outlet as major news (even TOI). Also they keep Paki specific news much longer in the their main page. They covered PSL and news related to PSL on their main page.

Most news rags in India have this "if we aren't criticising the Govt we aren't doing our job as fifth estate and exerting our divine right" itch.

For decades they got enough cause in the form of an endless series of scams and sham leadership, and they have gotten used to a type of reporting & opinion writing thats entirely based on fault finding. Reporting about Paki terrorist attacks and showing them as proof go Govt's ineptitude and relaying Paki statements as a means of criticising the policy of the Govt of the day is part of it. Generations of jholawala journos have been bred in this defeatist culture, where nothing Indian can ever be good, and seeking bideshi validation is part of it. They may wear suits now, and speak English like they have a fork stuck in their mouth (Rahul Shivshankar, Karan Thapar etc), but they have the same jhola mindset and it keeps them in their comfort zone.

In the NaMo era, the jhola journos find themselves out of sync with both the Govt's thinking and people's sentiment wrt to Pak. It leaves them bewildered. But the old jhola reflex is still strong, and we'll keep seeing such coverage for a while until their minds are reconditioned to new realities. Even then, the lefty pseudo-secular outlook and itch will remain until a new generation of "made in India" journos take their place, and ditch the itch and the jhola for good.

Basit chap is out of work for some time and is desperately trying to find favors with the establishment for a gig. He is salivating for sometime albeit with disappointment as plum advisor positions are being offered to others. But as you can see he has been sidelined. May be because the establishment doesn't trust him. Rightly so. He came out looking like a snake in the interview. Himself admitted that badmash brought him from Germany and made him high commissioner in India and also promised him position of foreign secretary. And than tried hard to show that Ganja didnt like him.

I watched few of his videos and initially he seems to be aspiring for no less than the foreign minister position. Was openly taking pot shots at Peer Qureshi and providing advise to Im the dim on how to run foreign policy. He seems desperate now.

https://www.dawn.com/news/1615316/pm-im ... mmad-azhar
The government on Monday decided to remove Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh from the post of finance minister and replace him with Minister for Industries and Production Hammad Azhar, Senator Shibli Faraz confirmed to Samaa TV.

According to Faraz, Prime Minister Imran Khan decided to bring in a new finance team in view of "the inflation that had taken place".

Azhar is the third finance minister to be appointed since the PTI came to power in 2018.

Prime Minister Imran "gave the portfolio of finance to Hammad Azhar who is a young and able minister so that he devises policies according to the ground realities of Pakistan and the poor get relief", said Faraz.
With this change, I am 400% sure that Pakistan is well on its way to 12% growth per year and to become a superpower by 2025.

Someone posted this here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Xb270c7l4o

It is worth watching. Basic points are

1. Al-Bakistan decided to compensate power producers based on capacity, not power delivered.
2. Cheen set up thermal power plants that are cheaper to operate (when compared to fuel oil power plants that Bakistan is operating).
3. Pakistan has given sovirgin guarantees to Cheen power plants. But cheenis have done three things (a) Asked Bakistan to set aside a pool of money to compensate power producers. (b) Cheen will have first preference in getting paid (c) Everything will be in dollars to prevent currency printing shenanigans.
4. All this has invited Mr Kaikomere Ballsqueezeki to Pakistan's economy
5. Even cheen power producers are not getting paid on time, and they have difficulties enforcing the sovirgin guarantees
6. Govt departments are among the biggest "defaulters" (read theft) of power

I also read documents/papers on the interwebs. The summary seems to be

1. Bakistan can get out of this mess by retiring older more expensive plants and keeping the cheeni thermal plants. However this means they break numerous contracts, might or might not be possible (unless they get IMF/Worldbank backing)
2. Some of the renewable energy projects (wind/solar) by cheen seems to be financially viable. They are attracting third party, for profit investments, so entire Pakistan's energy sector/economy might not be down in Pakistan

The last tidbit

All of Al-Bakistan seems to be

LOSS OF SOVIRGINITY BY ASKING STATE BANK OF PAKISTAN TO BE AUTONOMOUS!!! SOOOOSSSAAAAIIIIIII BUM ON IMFFFF!!!!! TALLER THAN HONEY DEEPER THAN MONEY FRIENDSHIP WITH CHINA!!!!

Most of the tranche of IMF money given to Pakistan is from China

The link was posted few post back.

There were some good points in the link but Sushant missed one point. Increasing price of state supplied electricity is making large industries in Pakistan to go for captive power plants. With this the whole burden of payment is going to end consumers and small scale industry that can't afford a captive power plant. Increasing prices increase theft and corruption and it gets into a self sustaining cycle.

Good points all, but I think not the complete picture.

If you take the aforementioned execrable Karan Thapar, as a case study, they are not only operating out of a knee-jerk reflex to criticize, but also fighting to save or salvage the birth privilege and sense of distinction from the unwashed masses, that is steadily slipping away in this century.

Karan comes from a long of pale-brown sahibs, of whom his late father the unheroic Gen. Thapar is a robust specimen.

We will ‘work with Pakistan’ for regional peace, says China
Ananth Krishnan, March 29, 2021
‘Pleased with the active interactions’ between Delhi and Islamabad, says Beijing.

China on Monday said it was ‘pleased’ with “recent positive interactions” between India and Pakistan and was ‘ready to work with Pakistan to inject positive energy’ into promoting regional peace in South Asia.
The comments from Beijing came in response to Pakistan President Arif Alvi last week describing China as the country’s ‘closest’ friend, and in the wake of recent developments on the India-Pakistan front following the ceasefire agreement.
“China cherishes its all-weather strategic partnership of cooperation with Pakistan,” Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said. “We are ready to take the 70th anniversary of our diplomatic ties as an opportunity to work together in the fight against COVID-19, carry forward our traditional friendship, deepen all-round cooperation, and build an even closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future for the new era.”
Mr. Zhao noted that President Alvi “stressed in his speech that Pakistan will focus on development, and remain committed to peaceful coexistence with the outside world” and “called on world leaders, especially South Asian leaders, to discard hatred, prejudice and religious extremism, and jointly safeguard regional peace and prosperity”.

Any chance of a pre-emptive strike against terrorist camps in Pakistan whilst the ceasefire is in progress?

They can be because the payer is paying for price that is sum of: aggregate mix and not for only coal power+ T&D losses (including theft)+ excess capacity charges

Pakistan never had good quality coal. CPEC thermal plants are using imported coal. Gas is the cheapest input after hydro. Captive plants are gas based.

You forgot the most important component - Corruption induced inflated cost of setting up the power plant (more then 2x) which has a multiplier and cascading effect on the other variables you mentioned.

True ..thats the whole idea behind CPEC. bribe corrupt govts to award projects at 2X 3X the actual cost and then force the country into a debt trap / inflated costs.

Nothing to be surprised here.

After all CPEC really means ‘Chinese Paxis Extortions and Corruptions’
