That is what I am trying to figure out as well. He posted it in his twitter feed.
Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Armed Forces
My first thought was a Scorpene but the upper hull profile looks different. Also seems a bit bigger than a Scorpene.
Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Armed Forces
Only scorpene and arihant have such frontal construction.nachiket wrote:My first thought was a Scorpene but the upper hull profile looks different. Also seems a bit bigger than a Scorpene.

He likely just lifted a picture of some submarine and put his caption in the tweet.

Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Armed Forces
Unfortunate. One would have hoped an IN veteran would not act like our regular DDM, especially since unlike DDM he would have known it wasn't one of ours.Rakesh wrote:He likely just lifted a picture of some submarine and put his caption in the tweet.
Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Armed Forces
There was a video tweet by 1-2 ex-IAF people from a video game showing a Mig-29 landing on a dam. Somehow, even the professionals are not up to date in this stuff.
Never before seen picture of Indian army troops with a large feline trained for anti-infiltration and counter-terrorism duties in J&K.

Fully agree. In the meanwhile, I came across this treasure of *Indian Navy* submarines (also from twitter).nachiket wrote:Unfortunate. What is the missile M2000 is carrying on the innermost pylon on the port side? Doesn't appear to be a MICA.

Jamwal ji, it's much too big for a magic, I believe.jamwal wrote:Magic-2, I guess
Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Armed Forces
Bala if you are talking about the innermost pylon next to that big mother spice then I believe its two Mica RFs being carried in tandem and it gives that view. IIRC the upgraded mirage 2000 can carry 4 of these puppies under the body.Bala Vignesh wrote:Jamwal ji, it's much too big for a magic, I believe.jamwal wrote:Magic-2, I guess

Yup, that's the one!! Thanks, andy mullah!!
Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Armed Forces
And what is the big black pod on the other side? Doesn't look like an LDP.
Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Armed Forces
It's the control pod (hosts the datalink) for the Popeye missile ie Crystal Maze on the centerline.
Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Armed Forces
You are right Karan! Damn I thought that was a spice 2000 but its indeed the crystal maze the nose fins are the distinguishing factor for me.Karan M wrote:It's the control pod (hosts the datalink) for the Popeye missile ie Crystal Maze on the centerline.
This is a very potent load out fully capable of self escort and strike!
Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Armed Forces
I assumed it was the Spice 2000 as well. Thanks Karan. That is one meaty pod though. Self escorting is nice but I wouldn't want to get into close combat after firing off the Popeye with that thing still hanging underneath.
Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Armed Forces
That's not the Damocles LDP?
Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Armed Forces
With those 4 Micas, all BVR capable, you shouldn't have to. And they double up as WVR capable too. With a HMS, you need not maneuver hard either in all circumstances.nachiket wrote:I assumed it was the Spice 2000 as well. Thanks Karan. That is one meaty pod though. The other significance of the pic is we've modified the Upgrades to fire our earlier H/TH weapons load. We can expect to see Spice and the Israeli /US LGBs on the aircraft too.
Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Armed Forces
No, we don't have the Damocles anyhow. Just the Litening.Pratyush wrote:That's not the Damocles LDP?

Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Armed Forces
Ok, pardon my ignorance here but why would the upgrade need to be modified for this? Shouldn't it be de facto given that the aircraft was already capable of using them.Karan M wrote:The other significance of the pic is we've modified the Upgrades to fire our earlier H/TH weapons load. Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Armed Forces
We had modified the H/TH aircraft to use them but most of their avionics were replaced during the I/TI upgrade. So some modifications would have been needed during/post-upgrade to integrate those weapons (Spice and Crystal Maze) again.Bala Vignesh wrote:Ok, pardon my ignorance here but why would the upgrade need to be modified for this?
