There was a report of a NOTAM for an experimental missile scheduled a couple of weeks ago.

viewtopic.php?p=2563508#p2563508

People asked if it had happened.
Most likely the experimental missile part is on the regular missile flown.
So I would think it's a K4.

It was K15. K4 test is going to be soon, NOTAM is out.

that is a stock image, mostly used as a filler.

The actual footage/images of the Arihant launch will not come out so quickly.

https://twitter.com/ShivAroor/status/15 ... 9194772480 ---> Pretty sure the Indian nuke-capable missile launched from nuclear submarine INS Arihant today was a 750-km range K-15 Sagarika. The real big momma, the 4,000 km range K-4, is likely to be tested in the next couple of days.

^ Waiting for it. So, they had a mix of K-15s & K-4s in their tubes when they left Vizag.

Does K-15 Sagarika always fly Hypersonic cruise trajectory to yield 750-km range?

Can it not fly Ballistic?

Or both Ballistic and hypersonic glide (on re entry)?

India's submarine fleet to get booster dose early next year
On the SSBN (nuclear-propelled submarines armed with nuclear-tipped ballistic missiles) front, the 6,000-tonne INS Arighat is also slated to be commissioned within the next few months.

When she joins INS Arihant, she will add some teeth to India's strategic deterrence posture by strengthening the country's weakest leg of the nuclear triad. Under the Rs 90,000 crore advanced technology vessel (ATV) project, two more 7,000-tonne SSBNs (currently called S-4 and S-4*) are under construction, with one of them being "launched into water" last year.

As of now, India however has just one operational SSBN in INS Arihant, armed only with short-range 750-km B-O5 or K-15 missiles.

^ I am disappointed that the Arihant diving/helmsman station is looking all TFTA as in a western submarine and not at all SDRE with very long dark narrow corridors.

---

I do not think people on twitter understand the importance & implication of that single photo above (of the helmsman station).

This is the first photo of an helmsman station of any boomer (SSBN) in Asia and outside of the select few countries (US/UK/Fr/Russia).

And that helmsman station really looks TFTA.

Sorry Dishaji, I am disappointed. The valves look like they were coming out of a Sintex tank. :rotfl:

https://x.com/VivekSi85847001/status/17 ... 18903?s=20 ---> The Silent Indian Democracy. Beautiful model of India's doomsday creator "INS Arighat" nuclear powered, nuclear ballistic missile submarine. It belongs to one of India's most secret projects ever. The Indian Navy has two such submarines in service & two more bigger in the making.

https://x.com/GODOFPARADOXES/status/176 ... 69812?s=20 ---> Interesting SSBN models.

1. Cross-shape rudder/planes (center model has end plates on stabilizers)
2. Sail planes
3. Streamlined sail
4. Superstructure with higher % of blending
5. Silos (IMO 12) because aft will also have the reactor & machinery room
6. Bladed prop (center model)
