So if RJD has to fight, Laloo will have male caate on all seats of Bihar (the one that can fight/win) and have all women candidates in ay kerala, meeting its women quota. Now just for the sake of argument, let's say BJP is in fight for all seats in India (unlike it is not in fight in many southern state). It will be forced to choose 33% women candidate in Bihar (all else being equal), who may not be the best candidate to win.
For LS polls, you do have a point as RJD/Laloo may pull this kind of stunt. But then, how about for polls of Bihar assembly? Those tactics will not work.
Against, say 33% of the seats are reserved. Suddenly Hyderabad is reserved for women, and Owaisi son either has to go gender change or his sister/wife/ other female members become important. Imagine, Wayanad and Amethi both are women reserved, appu shree will really get a gender change.
:) That scenario would be funny :rotfl:
In 40 seats of Bihar, RJD+ JDS cannot find 13 women candidates. They have only so many female family member. Imagine against them is from BJP ticket, again an yadav women, but maybe a retired or ex IAS/IPS or some similarly able lady. Who will win? RJD and JDS and MNS and TRS and DMK ...can also similarly choose able lady candidates, but their cadres, party members, family members may not support them. Cong will do fine as will TMC.
I think you mean JDU. I am 100% certain every politician in every political party in India can find his version of Rabri Devi. Each one will find either a wife/daughter/daugther-in-law/sister-in-law/whatever to stand in for him, just to comply with quota.

I am not a politician and I don't own a political party. If this is really about women empowerment, why do you need a law that reserves 33% of seats to women? For each of the seats reserved for SCs & STs (22.5%), give nomination papers only to SC women & ST women. That would be two birds, one stone. A twofer deal  Nothing to do with delimitation, census, constitutional amendment, blah blah blah. Here & now 8)

la.khan ji,

That's 33% guaranteed reservation plus all the general seats that women normally fight from

If all the women seats on the bus are occupied, women will occupy the men's seats also. The constitution gives them that right

The congis couldn't get it passed because there was and still is massive opposition to this idea

mulayam singh went on and on about "balkati" women against whom he was, for some MCP reason, vehemently against

women may vote for the bjp but a large number of men will angrily vote against. Currently, it will be far easier to sell this idea in the south rather in the chauvinist north

the chauvinism in the north and south is just a matter of degree. It's a 19/20 difference without a distinction

MCP's abound all over this wondrous land, not withstanding the cursory lip service paid to "rani of jhansi" and "rani kittur chennamma"

only the mafia rani has grasped the chaos that will ensue after the passage of the bill, and she is hoping that pappu, in all the mess, squeaks through unnoticed, slyly slithering his way to the PM gaddi.

But Modi and the BJP are 10 steps ahead in the way they have planned the roll out of this women's reservation bill.

any which way you slice it, it will never be allowed to happen......

meanwhile, back at the ranch...................

sp leader shafiqur rahman barq, who compared taliban to Indian freedom fighters, now wants separate space for namaz in new Parliament building

"There should have been space for prayer for Muslims in the new building at least to do 'Allah Allah' at the time of Namaz," Shafiqur Rahman Barq said. On Tuesday (December 19), Samajwadi party MP Shafiqar Rahman Barq courted controversy after he demanded designated space to offer Namaz in the new Parliament building.

seeing the reaction of the political parties, the congis did not touch the women's reservation bill again because it turned into a political landmine. They are hoping that the BJP will oblige and step on it

this will split the voting public, and splinter the electorate on communal, and caste lines, with each seeking "reservation" for their own caste/community/tribe/linguistic preferences and what have you

sub nationalism will rise and dominate their thinking, allowing the BIF to enter the picture. A malevolent version of sub nationalism already dominates the political, linguistic, and cultural discourse in an educated state like TN or even in KER

Now, the congis are hoping that the BJP implements it, pays the political price. while the congis and their partners reap the benefits of the resulting voter anger to gain votes for themselves

is there another country, or even a democracy, where women's reservation for parliament seats exist.

When and where exactly will this reservation mania finally end

To paraphrase Britney Spears : The lure of the 'Vote Bank' is so potent that no political party will shut down reservations.
Probably will go on for another 75 yrs.
My suggestion would be to reverse it, turn it on its head: 5% for Brahmins, 10% for economically backward and rest open seat for all others.
That will set such a din that it will be heard simultaneously both in Kailash and Yamlokh!! and of course Boolokh Of the AngloSaxon kind :rotfl:

srin saar,

if it is really such a great vote winner, why then did they stall it for over 27 years.....

no one wants to oppose it publicly and openly but they are all in a blue funk about how to stall it

As opposition parties rushed to claim credit for Modi govt's passage of Women's Reservation Bill, it is worth noting that they had stalled the legislation for over 27 years.

Shri Pappuji is vociferously demanding caste census!
He has tried gas-lighting before as well.
seems to be calculated move to counter HIndutva/Nationalism push
One hand ask allied to attack Ram Charithramanus/Sanatan Dharma
Question contributions of the officers to split Army morale
quietly split on communal lines by bringing in special measures for Peacefuls (meaning if Hindus dont support us we wont provide them benefits) as they done in Karnataka
Caste Census to divide further the votes
The powers to be (from outside) seem to think that Peacefuls+ Unsatisfied OBC/Dalits+Woke Hindus sufficient to beat Namo/BJP!!
What damaka from this special session (or is it yeh to trailer hain Film bakhi hain??)
Or introduce something on the last day Like UCC or Waqk board Act amendment or bill to free temples from Government control

1) It is precisely for this reason RaGa is thundering about caste census and everyone knows he wants to Divide and Rule. Not going to oblige.
2) India is a country in transition from the pre-modern to the post-modern era. This reservation is needed to push us into the modern era at least. Mind you is being done without a violent revolution like the French or Soviet or Chinese.
3) The sunset clause is three Lok Sabha terms or 15 years. And the bill is coming as the 128th Constitutional Amendment. If it were an ordinary bill, the politicians after 15 years would just extend it. Now they have to make another Constitutional Amendment in the future to extend it.

The way i see the womens reservation bill rollout timeline: delimitation exercise cannot be stopped now. That is a huge win. I have posted this before - NaMo will exit in 2029 only after delimitation and expansion of the LS seats - forever removing the possibility of minority appeasement. He would have decisively turned Indian polity majoritarian and there is no going back once seats are expanded. Truly the modern Octavius of India.

2024 is truly the MOAB - Mother Of All Battles. This passing of the bill is durable even in the unlikely case of BJP losing 2024.

Great news that the women's reservation bill is almost through.

In my mind the constituencies reserved for women should be pan-India, unlike the SC/ST reservations that address their demographics in specific areas. So, 33% of constituencies should be reserved as "women contestants only" on a rotating basis in each election of LS or any VS. The rotation schedule can be made years in advance so parties have plenty of time to plan. Probably the delimitation exercise is needed first, to determine what the overall constituency map will look like for the coming next few years.

Raman saar,

The beauty is that this bill has been introduced and passed as a constitutional amendment, It cannot be stopped. It merely awaits the completion of the delimitation process, which process the BJP will initiate and also complete.

to stop this bill, they need another constitutional amendment to be passed, and the opposition will, quite simply, not have the numbers to stop it by passing another constitutional amendment

Fait accompli

Brilliant - looking forward to permanent end of religious appeasement with the expanded LS and 33% women MPs. No other nation in the history of humanity has led the way in affirmative action like modern Bharath.

The democles sword of 'Delimitation' is also causing jitters amongst the secular forces in the Southern states :D. Delimitation is done based on population. There is a fear that the maximum number of seats would be getting added in states like UP, MP, MH where the communal forces have a strong presence ;) . Parties like DMK, ADMK who use to use their monopoly in TN to form alliance with the party at the central government may find themselves irrelavant. KL MPs any way are only there for rabble rousing.

Sachin ji,

That is a very legitimate consideration

The states that markedly improved their educational infrastructure, social and health services, industrialized in a dedicated way, generated employment and attracted investments to ramp up production, generated more taxes and ensured social stability, increasing per capita income, and also inculcated a sense of civic responsibility in their populations, curtailed the birth rates in accordance with stated policies of the central govt as compared to other states who were lax and laggard in implementing the same central govt policies and objectives, should not be penalized for their sincerity, dedication, hard work, as well as, success, in implementing national guidelines

Delimitation cannot be used to penalize success and reward failure.

The center will have to work out a realistic correction factor, satisfy the stakeholders, and apply it fairly

^^ All the development in southern states for what purpose? To uproot Sanatana Dharma because it is worse than malaria and AIDS? Who cares about their education and good roads and perfumed lungis if these church-stooges with Hindu names are sworn to destroy the religion and culture of this land? There should have been bigger punishment for them for being race traitors, but delimitation will do for now to take away their influence over national polity.

I am from TN, in Delimitation the Each states % of seats will remain the same, but over the periods through conversion, cash doles seculars have worked out the minimum number of votes to win the seats. This will change the game as thier well laid traps like where party men children only studied MBBS is being affected.

sirji,

1000 years and counting, we are still here, scum like the dravidiyas are inconsequential, when looking at the larger picture

cashmere was the trailer in terms of the response from the center.

separatists in the south will be ground into the dirt and shot in the streets like the rabid canines that they are

dogs bark when the caravan passes by, and the camels don't even hear them. No camel caravan has ever stopped because of the frenzied barking

no one will allow the delimitation process to delegitimize their rights and this govt, in particular, will not do it

that said, the separatists are cornered and even a cornered rat will bite.....

their time is coming and not more than a few years are left before they bite the dust. They know it

in trying to screw one nutter die-nastie family, don't make the mistake of uniting the rest of the south by reducing their legitimate right to the exercise of political power to fulfill their aspirations

despite what any pillar says, the vital sedition law will continue. It may be worded differently, disguised, dressed up in clown costume or even appear buck naked

delimitation is a means to increase the number of seats, while maintaining the overall percentage in terms of numbers,

It's certainly not a toolkit to destroy ideologies.

That will be done by the realignment of constituency boundaries to trim, cut, curtail and de concentrate entrenched vote banks and panic the parties into looking for new candidates to fit the new criteria brought about by reworked vote banks

once, the taking the wind out of the sails process has been set in motion, the actual task of extinguishing the remaining embers will hopefully kick in.

and sanjayc ji, why do you think that the FCRA was brought in, along with so many other acts.....

Without NRC the delimitation cannot happen.

When we have lakhs of illegals with adhaar cards, passports etc, both real and fake, it will distort everything.

Census will happen granting Pappu's wish but only in 3.0 ;)

All other parties avoided the eventual delimitation and expansion by not building a new parliament building so they can say that there is no space. That is why they opposed the new building so vehemently. Now - the flood gates are open!

Raman ji,

the three jihadi families in j&k kept pushing the delimitation dates to suit their political power plays and ensure their die-nastic longevity

now they are playing the "talk to paki" card to stay relevant

papa jihadi is one of the most venal of the jihadi political scum to keep on bleating about his masters across the border

how have these part gora blood die-nasties become so relevant in Indian politics

let this coolie no 420 walk the talk and put his money where his mouth is

Let us talk about present-day population numbers. AP, with about 5 Cr people got 25 and UP, with almost 4 times that population, has 80. If delimitation is done, both AP and UP seats will increase, with UP seats increasing more than AP. We are okay as long as we have a better position, but the moment UP gets equality, we have a problem.

From what I see, we did not do delimitation for many decades and created this problem. Now, NM has solved this problem. If people of AP have a problem, let us each have 4/5 kids and next delimitation, we also can have more seats.

Double Setback For Chandrababu Naidu In ₹ 371 Crore Corruption Case

https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/chandra ... st-4414033

The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Friday dismissed N Chandrababu Naidu's petition to quash his arrest and remand in connection with an alleged ₹ 371 crore scam. An anti-corruption court sent him to the custody of the state police's Crime Investigation Department for two days. The Telugu Desam Party chief was arrested this month and sent to judicial custody for a 14-day period that ended today.
Mr Naidu will be questioned within jail premises by the CID between 9.30 AM and 5 PM on Saturday and Sunday. The sessions will be recorded on video but this will not be released to the public.

This is bad for CBN. He has been charged with 2 more Fibernet and Ring Road scams. His son may be charged in Fibernet.

I don't know if Jagan is doing right thing here near election time.
