Chetak ji, yes, there could be money coming through hawala channels. But, that money doesn't add to India's forex account and may be causing more harm than good.

Besides funding crime, Hawala only creates demand driven inflation.

I'd like to see a chart of Punjab's growth in UPI transactions versus the whole country.

MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said during his presser a few days ago that they are looking into the number of Canadian diplomats in India, and parity will be sought. Plus, Amb Vohra said what he said.

Thats 2 clear warnings. Whatever GoB's expectations are, that were communicated in public and private, alas were not met by the Canadian side.

IMO, GoB followed through now, which NOT ONLY means they are 100% sure that Turdeau's credible allegations of possible links are hogwash, BUT ALSO that GoB has irrefutable evidence of what caused the plane delay.

IF Turdeau and Co ever dare to get stupid enough and produce some "evidence" concocted out of their mouths or musharraff, we cant be sure which one is being used, they're both the same anyways, then the GoB can release some evidence of its own through appropriate channels, and Turdeau cannot survive it.

bharat ji,

white or black, legal or illegal, all that money coming into India gets spent here and adds to the economy in one way or another.

The point is the miniscule amount of remittance money coming into punjab is not any indication of the actual amount of inflows. A fairly sizeable amount of foreign remittances come via the hawala channels.

It's only the middleclass that follows the white money maryada. The HNI and LNI do all their major dealings in cold cash.

Addition to the forex account is a moot point because that hawala money mainly manifests in India in the form of rupees.

As if Turdeau has any options to escalate!

They can't ask India to reduce staff in CA, which would make consular services impossible, and if we do the same, then all the students moolah, and free bodies to serve Canada will stop coming in from India altogether. Then they will be left with pakis, Rohingyas and Albanian and Ukranian mafias.

@A_Gupta is correct. That said, forces inimical to Indian interests (no pun intended) will find some other excuse to downgrade India’s credit rating.

Currently, India imports lot of NG from Canada. AFAIK, IMEC doesn’t include Canada. There is a lot of resistance in the US to any pipelines coming from Canada. So IMEC will reduce Canadian influence in the energy sector. What else do they have to export? Logs Timber, U(ranium), dairy, possibly some auto parts, and small passenger jets. All of that goes to the US. Timber export is being objected to by green groups. They do not want to Canada to do forest management which was the cause of most of the recent forest fires in Canad.

Many of these ESG issues (human rights, minorities, Climate, absolute- not per capita - pollution stats, HDI) are used as a leverage to get better bilateral deals. The more India protetsts, the more they say “she protesteth much”. Now that we have made a strong case, we should simply ignore the pipsqueak Justinder. He has huge problems at home.

We need to work with their massa just like we dispensed with the UK as the go-between and the US did too.

India asks Canada to withdraw dozens of diplomatic staff

Reading below the headline, I find this nugget -
Those who stayed past 10 October would lose their diplomatic immunity, the Financial Times first reported.
So it doesn't appear to be a move to cancel their visas. Rather more of a move to curtail any nefarious activity the Canadians are undertaking in India under the cloak of diplomatic immunity. This suggests they can stay on and work at the consulates long as that is all they are doing.

indeed .. remember british "aid" for "ngo" s and where that goes ?.. very similar

the bumped off "khalistani" was a Canadian intelligence operative .. the plot is thicker than it seems ..its quite probable that one of canadian operations were botched by Indian intelligence maybe by a 2 letter agency .. and maybe the Canadian high commissioner got an earful when he went with the "5 eyes" intelligence.. India is going to do more and heat up things where it is going to hurt .. Canadian operatives will be dealt with asap ..see more expulsions.. btw in the case of Canada the tail wags the dog.. that intelligence agency tells pm what to do. !!

Foreign intelligence agencies esp the 5 eyes countries., US, UK , Canada , Australia etc are very active through recruitment via the Indian diaspora.. the OCI cards gives them free access to India without arousing much suspicion.. i think the GOI will be quite circumspect in granting OCI cards to every NRI who applies for it.

The same Justin Trudeau who took part in a standing ovation of an actual Nazi in Canada's House of Parliament allowed hard-working Canadians to be roundly smeared as Nazis for simply disagreeing with him politically during the Trucker's Freedom Convoy.

...though three of the men had no criminal records, they were all denied bail and have been languishing in prison for nearly 600 days

The men Canada is holding as political prisoners are all working-class family guys whose lives were upended by government overreach and lies. Rather than taking the easy way out by pleading guilty to crimes they say they did not commit, all four are looking forward to having their day in court and proving their innocence.
Just FYI, guys with criminal records as long as your arm are routinely given bail in Canada.

Canada Presses India to Halt Further Diplomatic Expulsions
Trudeau says it’s crucial for Canadian officials to remain in India to try to calm tensions
Well, the Canadians could start extradition proceedings against the terrorists they are harboring to help calm things down. How will local presence in India help?

More likely the Canadians in India are up to no good and cannot keep their activities going without diplomatic cover.

Actually, not just offer, but force.

Which is what I think Modi is doing, in slooooooooooow motion.

Some time back I had posted that Modi has the math worked out.

I am betting that Modi is not just getting rid of the Khalistanis, but Justinder AND the Neocons in the WH!

It is a long term game. I would think beyond the life of a thread on BR.

Trudeau trying to crush free speech in Canada -- wants podcasters to register with the govt.

So Khalistanis and their antics are defended by Trudeau in the name of "free speech" -- this includes gory hateful parades re-enacting shooting of Indira Gandhi. This also includes Khalistanis putting up "ASSASSINATION WANTED" posters against Indian diplomats.

But meanwhile, Prince Justin is himself cracking down against all forms of speech that could pose a risk of challenging his reign.

Here comes more spin from state mouthpiece CBC:

@5:04 -- so Trudeau gets to make murder allegations without presenting actual proof, but accusations that Trudeau uses cocaine require proof.
It sounds like Salima Shivji and Daemon Fairless have no sense of irony or hypocrisy.

@9:54 - Daemon Fairless says he's surprised that the Congress Party is denouncing Canada for sheltering Khalistani terrorists.
Uhhh, has Daemon Fairless ever heard of Indira Gandhi, and does he have the slightest awareness of circumstances surrounding her death? Is he aware of Canadian Khalistanis recently parading blood-stained effigies of her while re-enacting her shooting?

@11:15 - Salima Shivji claims the 1984 Riots were in response to the raid on the Golden Temple -- conveniently leaving out a small detail regarding the assassination of Indira Gandhi.

@12:45 - She breathlessly opines about Indian media aligning itself with Modi's govt, and yet again has no sense of irony about Canadian media lining up behind Trudeau.

This show and its host urgently need to be renamed to Clueless

^^^^^

I think it is some 60/70, not 100+. India has some 20 across Canada. Please correct me if I am wrong.

However, this is no longer an India vs. Canada issue. It is certainly not a "Khalistan" issue (Khalistan does not exist)(they are Canadian terrorists).

It is an issue of a new world order.

Anyone who wants "India" to be a pole in the new world order will ignore "Canada". "Canada" (among a few more 5eyes), in a new world order is IRRELEVANT. Please remember that India is the voice of the Global South - 125 nations and counting - so who exactly is Canada? Which other nation can make such a claim?

Bharatiyas need to behave accordingly.

NRao ji,

Will justinder turn up for the "talks", in blackface, togged out in what he imagines is a bhangra costume, complete with the latest amritsari moves, rapping in punjabi.....

the amrikis are presently playing a double game, showing "support" for kaneda, while upholding the inviolable "white is right" mantra.

They will strike soon enough.
