Or else, this will be a festering sore, that has the potential for derailing the moderate impulse of the Arab states.
Pratyush ji,
currently, the gaza strip is bottled up tighter than a wary pukestan goat surrounded by concupiscent jihadis
egypt has sealed its borders with gaza, the ameriki carrier group has sealed off any entry or exit via the sea route, and the israelis manage the rest of the ingress / egress points.
this is the killing zone, prepped and ready......
one wonders what the filistini jihadis hoped to achieve by poking the bear, in the manner that they did, with massed attacks, publicly executing innocent israeli families, elderly and little kids, hostage taking, and displaying dead bodies on teevee and face book and SM
unless they deliberately gamed the disproportionately savage response but to what end

Fact is that if they wanted to move out of West Bank and Gaza a lot of them would have done it already or accepted some of the two state proposals however the passion and cause that drives Palestinians is not just getting "a land" it's getting all of thei land and the complete elimination of Israel.
+1 and MBS (and the rest of the ummah) knows that well, hence his 'statesmanship'
Only thing is that Israel is not India, even though both started out as modern independent states around 1947

This is the notorious mental blindness of Hindus (common trait among most Hindus that brings them to grief again and again as it leads to poor decisions when it comes to choosing their leaders). Hence, Hindus rejected Savarkar in favor of Gandhi, and got their backside burnt when Muslims grabbed 1/3rd of India's land for themselves, and then refused to leave India.

“Anyone who wants to thwart the establishment of a Palestinian state has to support bolstering Hamas and transferring money to Hamas,” the prime minister reportedly said at a 2019 meeting of his Likud party. “This is part of our strategy — to isolate the Palestinians in Gaza from the Palestinians in the West Bank.”

Some sanity ... This Nepali Harvard Student has second thoughts and retracts his shameful earlier statement he issued , and issues an apology ..
And this from the Harvard Ghungroo - the Indian dance team. Truly hope this has been a moment of growing & reflection for Harvard..

I think neither group has any idea of what's actually going on. The Nepali retraction seemed more thought out. The ghunguroo group still waffled in their retraction(will bite them in the future). These guys either dont seem to follow the news much, or they do but are not very bright. Anyone from Podunk University would know that this one is different, for multiple reasons.

Yes. For example: , Bill Ackman, (CEO of Pershing Square,) tweeted "a number of CEOs have asked if Harvard would release a list of the members of each of the Harvard organizations that have issued the letter assigning sole responsibility for Hamas’ heinous acts to Israel, so as to insure that none of us inadvertently hire any of their members.... Reports suggest Palestinians permitted to work in Israel were among those who perpetrated the massacre.
The survivors recognized some of whom had worked on the Kibbutz.
They were the ones leading the Pogrom.

"Modi Miracle": Ex-Israeli Intel Chief On India Brokering Peace With Hamas
As I had stated, wonder how many times Jaishanar's cell rings.
As I had stated, wonder how many times Jaishanar's cell rings.
New Delhi: Four days into the bloodiest Israel-Hamas conflict in decades - in which more than 1,600 people have been killed and over 6,000 injured - there is still no sign of peace or even a ceasefire.
Amid talk that India - which negotiated the inclusion of the African Union into the G20 and expanded the BRICS bloc by six nations - could play a key role in this regard, the former head of Israel's military intelligence has told NDTV Tel Aviv would welcome a "Modi miracle".
"Hamas is not willing to do any negotiation... any peace. Hamas is a terror organisation (like ISIS)... they are killing women, children in a very cold way. If Modi can make this miracle (happen)..." Major General Amos Yadlin (retd), said.
The Major General told NDTV this afternoon that while Israel would welcome any attempt by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to mediate a peace, Hamas "is not willing for peace".
"Israel and India relations are very important. These are two nations that got out independence at the same time... have similar traditions. We are two nations that have enemies at the border... you have Pakistan, China, and we have the terrorists from Gaza, Hezbollah, and Iran and Syria."
"There is a lot of the same political background, and Israel is helping India a lot. We are giving weapons that you used to get from Russia. We welcome any attempt by your PM to mediate..."
He also said a combination of multiple operational failures were likely why Israel's much-vaunted intelligence network had failed to predict or prevent Hamas' brutal attack. The domestic intel agency, Shin Bet, and the famed spy agency Mossad, have been scrambling for answers.
"Signals were not picked up, sensors were neutralised. The consequences were catastrophic," he said, when asked why neither agency had acted in time to stop what will likely be thousands of deaths and billions of dollars in damage to property and infrastructure by the time the dust settles.
Israel, he said, had been "very effective" in preventing Hamas' attacks.
"We have the best anti-rocket system in the world..." he said, but also acknowledged the Palestinian group had successfully altered tactics to counter extreme digital and physical surveillance by the Israelis.
The exclusive interview to NDTV came as Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to give him an update on the military situation in that country. PM Modi's office said he had given his counterpart an assurance that India stands with Israel in "this difficult hour".
Hamas this morning threatened Tel Aviv with the execution of "a hostage for every bomb dropped on a Palestinian home", after Israel Monday announced a "complete siege" of the Gaza Strip.

Lisaji, many years ago, I had suggested a similar thing. The community here posts a lot of articles from various places that puts up names of interesting people and organisations. The more interesting ones should go into a database and more importantly , links between them. So for example, it would contain individual x member of Y organisation that has members A, b and c. Searching on a name will automatically give you the relationships and the biodata of the same.
This should be possible to be implemented, I just dont have the skills to do it. Happy to be involved in seeding the database with data…

How Britain Started the Arab-Israeli Conflict | Free Documentary History
The bitter struggle between Arab and Jew for control of the Holy Land has caused untold suffering in the Middle East for generations.
It is often claimed that the crisis originated with Jewish emigration to Palestine and the foundation of the state of Israel.
Yet the roots of the conflict are to be found much earlier – in British double-dealing during the First World War.
This is a story of intrigue among rival empires; of misguided strategies; and of how conflicting promises to Arab and Jew created a legacy of bloodshed which determined the fate of the Middle East

It is good to have the support coming in from different quarters. But Israel is a tiny country and they are at the mercy of the bigger powers for their survival. whereas.
We have endured 1971 and 1998.
We have grown on our own. We managed Covid on our own with our own vaccine.
We are being sought desperately to take sides on Ukraine and we are seeing anger & helplessness as we set our own opinion.
Imagine a buffalo in the rain...what happens? Well , absolutely nothing.
We dont need need support for our policies. its nice to have , but we dont need it. We can manage on our own - this is advantage of our land mass and an large internal market which for us is self sustaining.
Even after Balakot, we executed and then called a few folk and let them know this is what was done. We are just being polite . We are letting them know and the ambassadors can take the message to their countries.
And all of this , is now , when we are a near 4T economy. When we hit 8T in 2028-2029, watch how the attitude changes.
Re: Hamas attack.on Israel. Oct 2023
Yeah, that is the original problem. Most of these people are soft supporters of Hamas. That is why it is hard not to bring that religion here. Islam is not just a religion, it also encompasses a political movement and provides a license to butcher babies, women, and unarmed civilians at will. None of the Arab countries condemned this attack. They are looking for restraint from Israel or calm on all sides. Iran even congratulated Hamas. When we say rogue elements, we are talking about hardline supporters. Most in the Islamic world are soft supporters of such acts as long as it is done to the Kafirs. Now they are being carpet bombed. If you allow snakes to fester in your nest, you are going to get hurt when the snakes are preyed upon.SivaR wrote: ↑11 Oct 2023 17:06 There's another Aleppo is unfolding. Again, the rest of the Gazaites are not saints, they could have easily informed the Israelis about this infiltration at least when this is started in the early hours(a basic common sense), but none of them obliged. Hence the whole 2 Million population is getting punished.

The same taliban supported bakis were even more barbaric to Kashmiri Pandits and caused genocide. Babies murdered.Larry Walker wrote: ↑11 Oct 2023 23:27Imagine the level of depravity and barbarism that Hamas unleashed on Jews that even Taliban had to distance themselves.

Innocent women and children were burnt alive. Innocent people had their heads chopped off.
Hence anyone who says "Cashmere is for Cashmeres" or talks about Islamophobia in fact are bunch of depraved barbaric morons supporting Jihadi Terrorism and just like Jihadi terrorists have no place in society, in same way their supporters have no place in society.
There is massive outpouring of support from Indians for Israelis and that is because several generations of Indians have suffered the barbarity of Islamic Jihadi Terrorism and we understand that very well.
Just like holocaust deniers have no place in society, similarly supporters of Jihadi Terrorism have no place in society.

Unless some political concessions come into picture(not at this hour), the only viable solution will be to de populate gaza but this will for sure widen the scope of conflict and who ever will inherit this populace will also inherit the war.Cain Marko wrote: ↑11 Oct 2023 08:45 Coming back to topic - yes, Hamas needs to go. But this makes one wonder:
1. How will you make hamas disappear - billion dollar question?
2. Occupy a city of 2 million? for how long? Will that work?
3. More importantly, who is propping up Hamas (remember ISIS and Keeda also need to go, but ultimately who were propping them up?)
One suspects that here is much more to this than meets the eye.
Does anyone remember the 2006 israel-hezbolla conflict? It will be good to re visit the conflict to understand the limitations and strengths of israel and it's enemies.
