Parliamentary inquiry into Trudeau's corruption has been quickly shut down by deft coordination between Trudeau's Liberals & Jagmeet's NDP

It really helps to have a faithful sepoy like Jagmeet as a crooked collaborator

India resumes select visa services in Canada from Oct 26th
Re: India - Canada - News and Discussion. (2018)
Good that GoI isn't pushing this visa stoppage indefinitely as a tug of egos point, the core aim was to get "sub-national engagements" dismantled by forcing D staff parity with Canada, and a BIG warning sent to the 5 blinds and the west in general. Once that has been achieved, and the security of our diplomats in CA was assured by some unnamed Canadian "measures" the GoI has done the right thing now.
The threat of FATF + Diwali season seem to have worked together as well
Plus its easier to catch any wanted ones once they land here.

Re: India - Canada - News and Discussion. (2018)
Looks like Canada blinked.
they have seemingly taken measures on diplomat security. Indian missions resume operations but not Canada. Net-net a loss to Canada. Their missions in Chandigarh, Blore and Mumbai cannot resume operations now due to the massive reduction in their diplomatic staff. And this will likely be permanent. I think no more comments from Trudeau are expected

Re: India - Canada - News and Discussion. (2018)
Well, The immediate objectives of
1. safety of our diplomats in CA
2. stopping interference in Bharat's internal matters by CA's diplomatic staff/spies have been achieved,
this outcome was largely helped by the golden opportunity offered by Trudeau who shot his mouth off and India sized it with both hands and plastered him on the floor.
But the larger issue of Khalistani separatists and terrorists is still very much out there, not just in CA, but also in US, UK, AU etc and they aren't really affected by the current turn of events. And getting those identified terrorists jailed in those countries or here in Bharat and stamping out this movement altogether is the complete objective for GoI. This was a festering, somewhat low priority issue for a while, but Trudeau has given it enough blow up, and GoB must not take its foot off the neck.

India says it is easing a visa ban imposed on Canadian nationals more than a month ago after Canada alleged that India was involved in the assassination of a Sikh separatist in Canada. India says it will resume services for entry, business, medical and conference visas starting Thursday, a press release issued by the Indian High Commission in Ottawa on Wednesday said.

Why do Indians use the word Panjabi in reference to such reports? If you don’t want to use jatt Sikh, use non-Hindu panjabis.

Khalistanis derive their wealth and power from their land holdings and separatists like Akalis in India. Once you cut off their umbilical cord in the form of OCI cards and tourist visas expect the movement to die out in a generation. This step should've been taken a long time ago, India is too soft.Cyrano wrote: ↑25 Oct 2023 23:09 But the larger issue of Khalistani separatists and terrorists is still very much out there, not just in CA, but also in US, UK, AU etc and they aren't really affected by the current turn of events. Justinder has a history of being a wimp and getting a beating. The recently deceased US actor, Mathew Perry, had this to say about him.
https://people.com/all-about-matthew-pe ... on-7963901Matthew’s mother worked in journalism as a TV anchor in Canada and as a press secretary for Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. Matthew attended grade school with Pierre’s son, current Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
In his memoir, Matthew recalled his frustration with being a “latchkey kid" during his mother's "stressful" tenure with the prime minister. “That's when the bad behavior started,” he wrote. “I got s----- grades, I started smoking, I beat up Pierre's son.”
The actor had previously recalled the time when he and his friends "beat up" Justin Trudeau during a 2017 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. "I think he was excelling in a sport that we weren't, so it was pure jealousy. And, you know, we beat him up," he told host Jimmy Kimmel.
Re: India - Canada - News and Discussion. (2018)
^ Actually the quoted example makes it looks quite the opposite - Mathew Perry ganging up with his pals & bullying Justinder just because he was good in a sport while they weren't...

FYI, my browser also doesn't allow me to connect to that newsportal article saying that the content at the URL is unsafe. The United States is aware of an online report blocked in Bangladesh that says Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been asked by Washington to step down by November 3 or face the music.
“We are aware of this report by an online outlet that is blocked in Bangladesh," US Embassy spokesperson Bryan Schiller told journalists on Wednesday in a WhatsApp response.
He reiterated that the US was not taking sides or did not prefer one political party over others in Bangladesh.
"As Deputy Assistant Secretary Afreen Akhter said yesterday (Tuesday), the United States supports free, fair and peaceful elections in Bangladesh. Elections are not just about how they are conducted on election day, but about allowing space for civil society, the media and other stakeholders to engage freely in the democratic process.
"Additionally, as the State Department spokesperson, Ambassador Haas and others have said many times, we do not take sides or prefer one political party over others in Bangladesh. We want the people of Bangladesh to be able to choose their own leaders," read his statement when asked for comment.
The online news portal news.in, which is published from outside Bangladesh, disseminated a report headlined–according to its URL, since the report cannot be opened–"US ultimatum to Hasina, exit constitutionally by Nov 3 or face the music.”

IMO, exaggerated sense of self-importance.Months after a pro-Khalistan activist was shot and killed in Surrey, B.C., a Sikh activist was allegedly warned by law enforcement about threats to his life, according to a newly disclosed document.
The document, titled "duty to warn," is addressed to Gurmeet Singh Toor and was made public by pro-Khalistan activist group Sikhs For Justice.
Speaking through a translator, Toor confirmed to CBC News that Surrey RCMP and the Integrated National Security Enforcement Team (INSET) came to his home and issued the warning at around 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 24. CBC News is working to confirm the veracity of the document with RCMP, but has not yet received a response.
"Police have determined by way of one or more investigative avenues that your life may be in peril," the document reads in part.
"At this time we are unable to provide you with specific details of the threat."

After a brief hiatus, Khalistani separatists in Canada have again put a price on the head of a senior Indian diplomat for his alleged complicity in the murder of terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. At the end of the second phase of the so-called Khalistan referendum on October 29, the banned Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) had declared $100,000 for the arrest of India’s High Commissioner to Canada Sanjay Kumar Verma.
At the end of the “voting”, the gathering passed two resolutions calling for the arrest and prosecution of Verma for “conspiring and directing Nijjar’s assassination”. The SFJ also released a new map of “Khalistan”, which does not lay claim to any land in Pakistan and marks Delhi as the “national capital”.

No claim to Pakistan land. Lions of panjab indeed.
Or is that loins of panjab.
I fully support kstan, with Peshawar as its capital.

The HDI of Kenya is rated higher than Pakistan. But the Muslims have atami taqt, so no fiqr.

Perhaps Hindus should have a referendum on repatriating those Sikhs who came to India in 1947. And submit it respectfully to the SGPC.
Pakistan shouldn’t mind. They are doing much the same to their uma brothers, the afghans.

I'm worried that Hindu groups are trying to put a positive spin on a negative development, just to save face.
The token mention of "xenophobia" really won't do a think to stop caste-baiters.
The term "caste" is exclusively associated with India, and not with other countries - and so this "caste" policy is aimed against Indians in particular.
Re: India - Canada - News and Discussion. (2018)

eg:
(Like SB403 which was vetoed by California governor - No need to add "cast" as it is already covered under categories (like 'decent' social hierarchy etc)The OHRC believes that existing grounds in Ontario’s Code provide for the necessary protections to deal with any potential form of discrimination related to a person’s caste or descent.
...Caste is not a prescribed Code ground, and only the legislature can recognize a new ground...
Re: India - Canada - News and Discussion. (2018)
I think it needs to be pointed out that "caste" is an english word coined specifically to describe Indians.
That legislation should use a neutral word, and not a word that's only applied to a particular national origin.
The ugly goal here is to sneak in this word under the cover of some alleged "universal applicability" of "caste" - when in the long run it will only be used to apply laws against Indians.

Re: India - Canada - News and Discussion. (2018)
Just to be clear --
The problem with SB403 (and similar) was it added 'cast' (along with race/gender/etc) as a category... The problem was while everybody has a race gender only Indian had cast. This is why Governor Vetoed it. (There are already laws which prevents discrimination based on ancestry, creed etc, and one does NOT need a new category which can be misused).
Same point here -- they wanted to add a new category 'cast'. Due to lot of good work of many Hindu organization they were not successful. .. as it 'cast' is not a separate category
---
What is also more interesting that due to lobbying by a fewHindu Canadian orgs
E4507 recognizing Hinduphobia is tabled..<link>

(No ugly reference to Hindus and cast system as defined by likes of equality labs etc)...Caste is not a prescribed Code ground, and only the legislature can recognize a new ground. ... Human rights tribunals have found that caste-based discrimination is covered by human rights laws and can be challenged under one or more existing grounds. [ IOW //no new category needed ]
The OHRC takes the position that caste-based discrimination is an intersectional system of discrimination that can be covered under any combination of ancestry, creed, colour, race, ethnic origin, place of origin, family status, or possibly other grounds, under Ontario’s Code.
