ATAGS, New Pinaka Rockets And Bhairav Commandos To Be Part Of Army Day Parade

This year’s Army Day Parade marks a significant shift, showcasing modernisation beyond tradition. The highlight is the Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System (ATAGS), displayed before formal induction, with 307 ordered but none yet delivered. The indigenous Pinaka rocket launcher also debuts new 75 km and 120 km range pods, transforming it into a multi-calibre system. Alongside drones, counter-drone systems, robotic dogs, and Bhairav Commandos will feature, symbolising the Indian Army’s evolving capabilities and commitment to future-ready warfare as it honours its historic legacy.

The Madras Regiment is the oldest infantry regiment of the Indian Army, originating in the 1750s as a unit of the British East India Company. The regiment took part in numerous campaigns with the British Indian Army and the post-independence Indian Army. The Madras Regiment primarily recruits from the erstwhile Madras state (present-day Tamil Nadu, southern Karnataka, parts of Andhra Pradesh, and northern Kerala) and the kingdom of Mysore (present-day Karnataka).
