UK has been gunning for Putin since the spy-poisoning affair and this is only reported in the Telegraph. Connect the dots.

BRFites are some of the worst victims of psy-ops, mostly due to an over-confidence in their own ability to detect psy-ops.....the problem is that without a detailed analysis and proof of a select set of entities that are reporting the same falsehood, one cannot jump to any conclusions. Knowledge of a specific kind of bias from a select set of sources would imply collusion, which has larger implications w.r.t. the level of strength between the political (co-valent) bonds between powers that have hedged their bets with multiple partners.

The problem is that even though there is a lot of news being posted, there is not enough attention span. So people look but do not see what's happening before them --- people who were till yesterday "commie kooks" were now saviours of the nation unintentionally saving India from its own grievous fate. It is easier to believe in a perfect and kooky world where people are friends for centuries and have the ability to micromanage bizzarre events to incredible levels of detail.

Anyone notice how Outlook Express is the only magazine to print the truth about the canards about Putin and the gymnast? Both Indian Express and New Indian Express and many other newspapers continue to carry the rumour as a fact.....all with "highly amusing" headlines.

Putin denies divorce rumours
April 19, 2008
Russian President Vladimir Putin has denied he planned to divorce his 50-year-old wife Lyudmila to marry an Olympic champion gymnast, telling journalists to keep their "snotty noses" out of his private life.
"In what you said, there is not one word of truth," Mr Putin said when asked about the reports at a news briefing with Italy's Prime Minister-elect Silvio Berlusconi.

"I have always reacted negatively to those who with their snotty noses and erotic fantasies prowl into others' lives," he added.

Mr Putin said media had mentioned a host of women including Ms Kabayeva and Russian television journalist Yekaterina Andreyeva in articles about his private life.

"In other such publications other successful, beautiful young women and girls have been mentioned. I don't think it will be a surprise if I say that I like them all - because they are all Russian women," Mr Putin said with a smile.

Russian oligarchs, Berezovsky and Abramovich, battle for billions
April 19, 2008

[quote]The long-running feud between the oligarchs Boris Berezovsky and Roman Abramovich, once best friends at the Kremlin, descended to an English courtoom yesterday with the $4 billion proceeds of Russia’s oil and aluminium riches at stake.

A gripping account of how the once-Communist nation’s mineral assets were divided up by a handful of men in chats at the Dorchester in London and Munich airport unfolded in a case involving allegations of intimidation, threats and duress.

One of the key players in the tale, the Georgian opposition leader and tycoon Arkady “Badriâ€

Art of Yoga Coming to Kremlin
15 April 2008

Russia's first president organized a tennis revolution, and the second encouraged his people to practice martial arts.

If this trend continues, the country will soon be standing on its head.

President-elect Dmitry Medvedev has joined the thousands of Russians eager to learn the ancient Indian art of yoga.

"Little by little, I'm mastering yoga," Medvedev said in an April 2007 interview with the weekly magazine Itogi.

Yoga, he explained, helped him relax from the stress of working on the national projects.

"You get enormous experience from working on the realization of the national projects, but the responsibility is huge. To prevent headaches, I needed to practice sports more intensively than before," he said.

Medvedev's spokeswoman, Zhanna Odintsova, said the president-elect was unavailable for an interview about yoga and that she could not bother him with questions on the topic.

But the Trud newspaper reported that Medvedev's wife, Svetlana, convinced him to take up yoga.

It appears that after one year, Medvedev has made huge progress in developing his yoga skills, having mastered shirshasana, the headstand pose also called the "king of asanas" because of its positive effect on the entire body.

"I can even stand on my head," he told the glossy magazine Tainy Zvyozd last month.

There are dozens of different yoga schools, and it is unclear whether the president-elect practices the challenging Iyengar, or Ashtanga, yoga or the more meditative Kundalini yoga.

Prohibited during the Soviet era due to its connection with Hindu religious practices, yoga is becoming more and more popular in Russia. New yoga centers are opening every month in Moscow, and if Medvedev continues the tradition of his predecessors, Russia's yoga craze is likely to intensify, a White House official said.

"The past two presidents have launched the tennis and judo trends," the official said on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to speak to the media. "If Dmitry Anatolyevich is fond of yoga, we will soon have more yoga schools than India. This is how things work in Russia. If the head of the state has a hobby, it will become the hobby of the nation."

Former president Boris Yeltsin started playing tennis to combat stress and developed the habit of playing three times a week. Under Yeltsin, tennis -- which enjoyed little popularity in the Soviet Union -- received generous funding.

It was under Yeltsin that Russia began producing a steady stream of world-class male and female tennis players. Yeltsin was so fond of tennis that he appointed Shamil Tarpishchev, the long-serving Soviet Davis Cup captain, as his personal coach and gave him an office in the Kremlin.

Under President Vladimir Putin, Russia learned to appreciate martial arts. Putin, a judo black belt who is known among his fellow judo club members for his haraigoshi, or wicked sweeping leg throw, began studying judo at 14. Last year, Putin and Yasuhiro Yamashita, a world judo champion from Japan, made an instructional video together.

During Putin's time in office, judo has become increasingly popular, and judo competitions and documentaries are frequently shown on television.

"Now the federal television channels show the European and world championships, even if they are usually broadcast very late," said Roman Karasyov, head of the Association of Amateur and Professional Judo Clubs.

Khatuna Kobiashvili, the publisher of Yoga Journal Russia, estimated that at least 100,000 people regularly practice yoga in Russia. The magazine -- published by The Moscow Times' parent company, Independent Media Sanoma Magazines -- sells 55,000 copies a month nationwide, she said.

"If we sell this much, this means people are practicing yoga," Kobiashvili said.

Asked whether he would start taking yoga classes out of respect for the new president, the government official laughed and said he would think about it.

"You need to be very flexible for this kind of sport," he said, "We'll see what the future holds for us."

Medvedev is an avid sportsman and enjoys swimming in addition to yoga, Odintsova, his spokeswoman, said. Russian media has also reported that he enjoys kayaking and weightlifting.

The shootdown of the Georgian UAV is probably linked to the US recognitino of Kosovo two months ago. At the time the Russians said they'd retaliate by re-examing their policy towards Georgia separatists.

Russia may be laying the groundwork for Abkahazia to formally breakoff from Georgia and rejoin the Russian Federation.

After Stalin's condemnation in 1956 Mao started to criticise Chrushchev . in answer Moscow ended transfer of technologies and weapon for China. About China nuclear program: the most input made the scientists, that came from USA.

Now something more consistent, than the obvious tales about Russians:

Russian AFK "system" will invest in Indian telecom $7 billion!

AFK "system", largest in Russia and CIS the public diversified corporation, it plans to invest into the telecommunication sector of India from $4 to $7 billion. These means Russian company intends to put, including in the development of the Indian operator Shyam Telelink, 51% of actions of which at the present moment belong to "system".

As previously reported RB.ru, at the end of 2007 Shyam Telelink it attended only of 250 thousand subscribers, from whom 100 thousand. - the subscribers of the cellular connection of standard CDMA. Company had a license for the assignment of services to the fixed and cellular relation in standard CDMA in the state of Rajasthan, whose population composes approximately 62 million people. Among the "daughters" Shyam Telelink - the local Internet provider, which is managed the optic network with a length of 4 thousand km this company, which occupies only 0,05% Indian market for cellular connection, is smallest of 13 local operators.

Shareholder Shyam Telelink "system" became during September of past year, after purchasing 10% of actions for $11,4 million.

During January 2008 AFK "system" it declared about an increase to 51% of its portion in regulation capital Shyam Telelink. In accordance with the conditions for optional agreement, the "system" has the right in the course of 20 months to acquire 23% more of actions of Indian company.

the "system" investments

The volume of investments AFK "system" in development Shyam Telelink can be from $4 to $7 billion, it was said in the materials of the ministry of economic development and trade RF (MERT), prepared for participants in the second Russian- Indian forum on the trade and the investments, which will pass 12-13 February in New- Delhi (India).

The President OF AFK "system" Aleksandr goncharuk at the end of the past year declared, that, after becoming the shareholder of Indian operator, Russian "system" was intended to actively enlarge the market portion of company and to obtain licenses to the rendering of services to the fixed and cellular connection throughout the entire territory of India.

The chairman of the council of the directors OF AFK Vladimir yevtushenkov on the recent forum in Davos stated that in 2008 "system" it plans to draw order $10 of billion to the building of cellular network in India and a number of other projects.

According to the basic owner OF AFK, the corporation will focus efforts on highly technological, bank and mediabiznese, including possible project controlled to it "Sitronix" on the delivery of equipment for the telecommunication network in Saudi Arabia with the budget in $1 billion. They refused to report more precise information in the company.

India anticipates

The at present accumulated Russian investments into the Indian economy compose only $150 million, which is considerably less than the Indian investments, whose lion's share ($2,7 billion) went into the project "Sakhalin -1" (company ONGC Videsh Ltd.), reports RIA of news.

Besides natural gas sector Indian investments are represented in the Russian banking sector (daughterly bank OF THE ICICI), the automobile construction (TATA Motors), the food industry (group SUN). In 2007 company Carborundum Universal Ltd (Murugappa Group) acquired 84% of block of the shares of Volga abrasive plant (the Volgograd province).

Russian companies attempt to make up delay. Thus, "European bearing corporation" since 2007 conducts the building of plant according to the production of bearings in thus, "European bearing corporation The personal investments of company into the project will be about $30 million.

From February 2006 in the Indian state of West Bengal works the assembly-line enterprise Ural India Ltd. for the production of all-wheel-drive trucks "Urals". Plant is created together with the Indian company Motijug and plans to begin to let out in 2008 on one hundred trucks per month.

The Overshadowed Issue: Russia

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/05/ ... 6695.shtml

(A poorly written and highly inaccurate article but there are some amusing points in there.)

**************************

Russia announced this week it was deploying hundreds of additional peacekeeping troops to the tiny sliver of land of the Black Sea to counter what it said were Georgian plans for an attack on Moscow-backed separatists in the region.

The Russian Foreign Ministry, citing reports from Abkhazia, said two Georgian planes were shot down today while making ``unsanctioned flights.'' If true, the reports would bring the total of Georgian planes destroyed since mid-March to four.
