Was the forum site down for several hours? The page just wouldn't open and there was an error message there.
Anything special?

Hello

This page lists one Seetal Ramesh Patel as Website Administrator. Would it be possible to communicate with this person via the "Contact Webmaster" email address at the very bottom of Bharat Rakshak webpage? Is there any way I can contact Mr. S.R. Patel?

Thanks

The "Contact Webmaster" email address should work. Use that.

Ive noticed something.... The latest updates on the BR front page are coming only from the the "Military Issues and History Forum". Are updates on the other forums not considered worthy of display?

All links posted on BRF open in the same window instead of spawning a new browser window/tab. Can this be fixed?

Secondly can some moderator contact me privately?

thanks!!

This is an observation, I leave it to administrators to come to their own conclusion.

In the "Caucasus Crisis" topic, these two posts:
Raju 11 Aug 2008, 11:59 (UTC+5:30) wrote:this dude stands out of the rest of Georgian soldiers.
he has no patches, wears sun glasses, boonie hat. Looks like a Blackwater type.

Raju 11 Aug 2008, 16:02 (UTC+5:30) wrote: He is American, he is carrying an M4 and wearing digital camouflage, more specifically Marine MARPAT and a USMC issue load bearing vest. He is also wearing his wedding ring on his right hand, as continental Europeans do.

These 'observations' are eerily similar to :

darthlung wrote: That soldier stands out from others in other pics. No patches, sun glasses, boonie and other gear. He looks American. I hope Im wrong.

No investigation or explanation needed. What a forum member does in any other forum is his business. And he does not even have to be Indian to be on this forum. And if he pretends to be Indian there is nothing we need to do as long as he is not a troll. If a person is a troll, he is out even if he is a well known public personality in India or anywhere.

Admins/Webmasters..

Please provide a link/e-mail id to reach Administrator/Webmaster with a text-area control so that any new reader, if he is facing any issue regarding the registration process ..can reach administrator/webmaster with his problem and get it resolved.

I am not aware if this is already done in this site..in that case please delete my post.

http://www.bharat-rakshak.com/LAND-FORC ... /Sikh.html

At the Sikh Regiment page:
Regimental Motto: Nischey Kar Apni Jeet Karon (I Fight For Sure To Win).

I am no scholar of Punjabi, (and heres where those who speak the lingo can help), but this motto seems to be somewhat poorly translated!

As I understand it, it probably means something more like:

"Victory comes through determination" or "Achieve your victory through determination" or even, maybe "Make sure of your victory".

Can we have a Sticky Thread named "Newbie Questions".
All posters who are not so well informed can ask their questions here
and not disturb the flow of the main threads

Why is there no "Delete" button for our own posts even though it is within the 30 min window? I can see just the "Edit", "quote" and "report" buttons but no "delete" button. Has it been removed by admin settings ?

I guess someone has already suggested, as a BRFite I'd like to see the locations of people registered with BRF on a map

something like this would be fine
http://www.searchandgo.com/geo/

but thats visitors' locations....is there a way to locate BRF forum members' locations on a map?
I am aware of locations like "on a stone in a ring of Uranus", "on a tree in African Jungle"....we can ignore such locations because no software supports such locations..
Take it easy friends... :)

On similar lines, I think we can have an Interactive map depicting all Indian, Pak, Chinese, BDs Air Force bases, fields, airports on BR site.

and any runways in Burma closer to Indian border can also be included...

what say?

Yes, you can delete your posts, as long as you are able to edit them (30 minutes?). Use the same button.

After clicking on the Edit button, select the delete post option, and then click on submit button at bottom. Should work!

Rahulji,

What ever happened to the "Print" button of yester years?

It had the ability to save the entire thread - Page 1 onwards.

We should get that time saving feature back. Put in an request for enhancement if it is not out-of-the-box, please.

Much Thx.

sorry, not my area of expertise. AFAIK from Jagan, that feature was an additional patch for the previous forum SW. btw, there still is a "print view" option tho' it is restricted to individual pages.

Strange. I don't see it on my firefox browser:

But I did see a "delete" option for my post in this thread a few mins after it was posted, but haven't seen it on other threads!!

check jagan's post in this very page.
Thanks for the reply.

That address is probably for Seetal Patel whereas I have been wanting to contact someone like yourself (a moderator) who actively moderate the forum.

As I understand, a long time period expectancy for a edit button can lead to confusion.

Suppose someone had written a post and it is replied to with a 'quote'.

Then if the person A edits thereafter and goes into a rage against B who replied, it will add to the problems of the Moderators.

It must be realised that we a Moderators with a primary occupation too and are totally honorary. The day we are also paid Moderators like the Cricket selectors, maybe the situation can be changed! ;) :))
