Giving mega cities like Mumbai the status of separate states does solve the problem that the politics of the mega city will not be dictated by chauvinists coming from the backwaters. The issues which involve a mega city viz-a-viz a vast mainly mono-ethnic state are very different.

Why should there be a mixing of issues like the price for sugar cane and building of some flyover? Why should a ethnic majority living in the outback lord over the politics of a cosmopolitan mega-city? These are two different animals.

My proposal of making Mumbai a separate state, is based on the difference between ethnic states and cosmopolitan mega-cities, and not on some arbitrary wish to a thousand states bloom.

Why limit it to cities only. I suggest that we extend that logic to other things also. For example why should revenues from Tirupati and Guruvayoor go to AP and Kerala only. Lord Krishna is not the property of any one state. Lets us create separate union territories around these places and let the central govt take care of redistributing the wealth of these places to other states. Similar logic with other economic resources. Why should UP and Haryana get to keep the revenues from prosperous places like Noida and Gurgaon. Both should be made UT or merged with Delhi. Ditto with the economically prosperous districts like Coimbatore in TN and Pune in Maharasthra. Lets make all the economically prosperous places separate from the states that they are in. Indeed their prosperity is the result of the hard work of people from all over the country. Why should they be in any particular state and allow that state to leech off the resources of that productive area or district. Similar with mineral resources. Why should the coal belt areas of Bihar and Jharkhand be in that state. Why should these states get royalty payments for any ores or minerals that are found there. What have they done to deserve it, except to have been blessed by fate.

Extending the logic further, London and NY should be world cities. Why should they have to be part of the US or UK. They have been built by the blood, sweat and tears of the very best people from all over the world.

RajeshA - your proposal I am sorry to say does not take into account local realities. To start with there was a linguistic division of the country for a very good reason. Please think why the founding fathers did so. Mumbai was not a mega polis that it is now during independence when it was made the MH state capital.. The reality is that even though immigration has changed the demographics of the city, the city is *still* rooted in its local culture though it has developed newer shades. Please go through this link: Samyukta Maharashtra Samiti- people have died for keeping Mumbai and Maharashtra together and they are not going to be separated. Please do not confuse this with what Raj Thakrey is doing - that is classical politics being played by Congress/NCP against the Shiv Sena - too bad the fellow Indians have to pay for it. Its my humble request to all not to give this Raj Takrey (RT) issue any more importance than it deserves by linking the issue of Mumbai with Maharashtra and RT. Let RT, Lalloo, Paswan and the rest remain the two bit politician that they are, let us not give them any more importance, honestly!.

Violence in jail: two terror suspects victims of communal attack

Sudipto Mondal

MANGALORE: Suspected terrorists Fakeer Bava and Rafique, lodged in the district sub-jail here, were admitted to the Government Wenlock Hospital after they were assaulted by six inmates, who broke into their quarantined cell at 6.30 p.m. on Thursday.

According to the First Information Report filed with the Barke police station, a group of inmates snatched the keys to the cell from quarantine section warden Sanjeeva Shetty, and while some of them physically restrained him, the others proceeded to bludgeon the suspected terrorists with stones and blunt weapons.
The names of the accused were given as Sandeep Shetty, Rajesh, Sandeep Poojary, Ganesh Poojary, Vinod Poojary and Nagaraja.

The hospital authorities said Fakeer Bava had lacerations on his head and Rafique had a broken shoulder. Both had bruises all over their bodies.

Jail authorities, who did not wish to be named, told The Hindu that the attackers acted allegedly at the instance of Mahendra Kumar, former Bajrang Dal State convenor, who is also lodged in the jail in connection with the recent attacks on churches in some parts of the State.

“Mahendra Kumar has been conducting ideology and indoctrination sessions for the jail’s Hindu inmates. The accused are part of a group that recently took an oath in the name of Hindutva at a secret ceremony in the jail,” the official said.

Jail Superintendent Eshwar Naik admitted that there was a “minor scuffle” in the jail early on Friday in which Mr. Sanjeeva Shetty was surrounded and threatened allegedly by the group.

Thursday’s attack is the sixth, alleged to be by Bajrang Dal activists, against fellow inmates after Mahendra Kumar’s arrest on September 20, according to the police, hospital and jail authorities. Of the previous five attacks, three were on Muslim inmates. In the first attack on September 23, Jalaluddin was attacked allegedly by over 25 persons arrested in connection with the recent attacks on churches.

On October 2, Farooq was beaten up by over 10 inmates. On October 15, another inmate, Dawood, was beaten up.

“Anything can happen. We need reinforcements. Nobody is safe,” Mr. Sanjeeva Shetty told presspersons on Friday.
Desi style justice for the terrorist turds...Of course, Chindu showing its "secular" stance with some masala of its own.

The jails should become so dangerous for these anti-nationals that in future, the pigs kill themselves rather than being caught( LTTE style) so that we are saved the debates on death-penalties.

saumitra_j Ji,

The linguistic and ethnic movements remain strong in India. In Punjab there was a long strife about making Chandigarh solely an Punjabi city, Jharkhand has demands over Orissa and WB, not to speak of Telangana and North-Eastern States.

One of the reasons, though not the sole reason by any chance, our cities remain underdeveloped in terms of infrastructure and services, is simply because these cities lack the political isolation from the outback, the more rural regions. There is a different kind of politics, which prevails in those regions, than what is required to bring up these cities to world standards, and I speak of cities like Singapore, Hong Kong, Shangai, Tokyo, Seoul, Taipei, Dubai, etc. The politics that is required of politicians for such mega-cities is qualitatively so different, than what would be expected from politicians coming from the rural areas. Municipal Commissions do no justice to these requirements.

If we for an instant can forget about politics and train our minds on how India should look like in 2050 and what is needed to take us there, I'm sure more people would see the logic of treating our mega-cities differently than simply as common adjuncts to bigger rural states.

We have already gone through the division of states on linguistic basis, and it has proven to be relatively successful for a huge country like India. It is time to think of the next steps.

Eh? The problems of under development of Mumbai is not because the "outback lord of sugarcane" is stirring things up, it is because Mumbai itself ironically has no money. The development of infrastructure such as roads, sewage etc is primarily the responsibility of BMC, not the state government. BMC, which is the largest in terms of revenue in India, spends > 70% of its revenue on salaries. The rest is barely enough to maintain existing infrastructure given the high level of corruption in Mera Bharat Mahan. How do you think making Mumbai a state solves this? Do you think once Mumbai is made a state, suddenly, the Centre's share of revenue generated by Mumbai will suddenly go down? Do you *seriously* think Chidambaram will agree to massive cuts in Company tax, income tax etc due to the Center? Mumbai also generates a lot of revenue to the railways. How much of it actually gets ploughed back into Mumbai's local trains by Lalu? The commuters have been crying hoarse for a fourth corridor on the Virar line , its only under MUTP-II that this was agreed to. For decade, Mumbai only had 2 railway lines, both running north south. The crying need is a east-west oriented line. Why is it only now that this is undertaken?

Your mumbai specific problems are not solved by statehood for sure. Its down to more powers to local authority rather than concentrating it at the Center.
"Bihari migrants are hardworking" is a counterpoint to all the claims that biharis are just leeching off society in other states, like the MNS dilweeds are claiming -- a lazy bihari is probably content remaining in Bihar instead of going cross country and doing back-breaking labour, so this claim of the "Enterprising Bihari" is true and not really all that surprising.
A nit pick: in this whole affair no one is accusing Biharis of being "lazy". Its their preponderance that is objected to and the reasoning that why Mumbai or in general more prosperous parts should pick up the tab for the lack of development in Bihar and UP.

Incidentally this is an excellent contrast: RajeshA is targetting Maharshtrians since "ethnic majority living in the outback lord over the politics of a cosmopolitan mega-city? These are two different animals." In other words, under developed parts should not force their opinion and we should have smaller states to avoid this. The other point is just because Bihar is under developed that results in migration does not mean other states should not pick up their tab, and should welcome migrants since we are all Indians or we should accomodate views of under developed parts. Two opposite views, but in both cases Maharashtrians are in the thick of it

Modasa blast: Police give clean chit to Sadhvi, others
Ahmedabad, October 31 : Sabarkantha police team meets Mumbai police; says interrogation is still on but it is too early to reach any conclusion

Giving a clean chit to Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur and others arrested in connection with the September 29 Malegaon blast, the Gujarat Police on Friday said that none of them were involved in the similar blast that claimed one life in Modasa the same day.

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sabarkantha, K K Mysorewala, who is heading the Modasa blast case, said, “We have interrogated all the five who are currently in the custody of Mumbai police in connection with the Malegaon blast. None of them, however, are involved in the Modasa blast.”
Mysorewala along with four other personnel of the Sabarkantha district police were in Mumbai on Friday for investigations in the case.
The team headed by Sabarkantha Superintendent of Police R B Brahmbhatt held discussions with their Mumbai counterparts earlier in the morning.

When asked whether the Mumbai police had claimed to have cracked the Malegaon as well as Modasa blast cases after the arrest of Sadhvi and others, Mysorewala said: “Nothing of this kind was ever communicated to us. The Mumbai police may have enough evidence to link these persons with the Malegaon blast.”

Brahmbhatt, however, said that interrogation is still going on and it is too early to reach any conclusion.

The Sabarkantha police have so far questioned over 500 people, including members of saffron outfits like Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and Akhil Bharthiya Vidyarthi Parishad.

Bombs went off in the Muslim-dominated areas of Modasa in Gujarat and Malegaon in Maharashtra around same time on September 29. A 15-year-old boy had died and several others were injured in Modasa.

ISI-BDR joint venture: 75 terror camps
KOLKATA: Pakistani intelligence agency ISI has opened 75 new terrorist training camps in different Bangladeshi districts adjacent to the Indian states of West Bengal, Tripura and Assam.

What is more alarming is that ISI is being openly aided by the officers of Bangladesh Rifles’ (BDR) training command in this new venture.

Following a joint confidential probe, the undercover cops of the Intelligence Branch (IB) of West Bengal police, central Intelligence Bureau and Union external affairs ministry’s Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau (SIB), have recovered certain classified documents about the existence of the training camps operated jointly by ISI and BDR.

According to IB sources, the members of the Jamait-Ulama-Mujahideen (Jum) and Harkat-Ul-Jihadi-Islami (Huji) are being mainly trained in these newly set-up camps. The districts in Bangladesh where these training camps are scattered include Kurigram, Chittagong, Maimansingh, Sylhet and Rangapur, among others. The trainees, according to them, mainly include brainwashed local Indian youths from the three Indian states.
Incidentally, Jum activists are on the prime suspect-list involved in the recent blasts at Tripura’s capital Agartala.

The IB sources further said the sleuths had recovered certain classified documents that include the names of certain ISI and BSF officers supervising the training operations in these camps.

The sources said they had identified four ISI and BDR individuals who are supervising the camps on a rotational basis. They are Major Afzal Jinali, Captain M Hafizuddin, Mohammad Kuddusuddin and Jahangir Alam. While the first two are ISI officers and the second two are enlisted with BDR’s training command.

It is ridiculous to think of costs. iIt is not like they burned whole Madras City down and and started building Chennai to think about costs. Shop owners when they have to repaint boards in front of their shops they paint Chennai instead of Madras. old boards still say Madras even after so many years.
Dear ShyamSP, if you look into the Total Cost of Ownership of changing of name from for example ‘B’ to ‘M’ in the case of Mumbai, what was the gain? In my opinion a Zero, and if you calculate the defacing of signs SS did while agitating for it, a -1.

Anyway, each is entitled to his own opinion. As long as you do not agree to renaming of Pahalgam, J&K to Islamabad, we'll be fine.

Times -now reporting that the case against the Sadhvi is on very shaky grounds and might not stand in court....

If the channel has to report a thing like this, i can imagine that even the kangress govt has given up on how to frame the lady with something to prove "hindu terror". A plot going completely wrong for the "secular" govt(with few armymen also humiliated).

Amid threat, Nepal assures safe skies
2 Nov 2008, 0351 hrs IST, TNN

NEW DELHI: A day after India expressed its concern about vulnerability of Indian aircraft at 'not so secure' Tribhuvan International Airport in
Kathmandu, Nepal on Saturday promised to take all necessary measures to beef up the security there to thwart any attempt of Pakistan-based terrorists make repeat of IC-814 type of hijacking.

The assurance from Nepal came on the day when India itself put its all airports in north-east on high alert in the wake of terror attacks in Assam. Though the alert, an official said, was part of a routine security drill, India raised the issue of airport security with Nepal a day before during the home secretary-level talks here in the backdrop of intelligence inputs that Pak-based terror groups were likely to target India-bound aircrafts originating from Kathmandu.

Briefing reporters on conclusion of the talks on Saturday, Union home secretary Madhukar Gupta said that he had been assured by his Nepalese counterpart Gobinda Prasad Kusum that Kathmandu would "do whatever needed to be done". Gupta said Kusum promised to look into all related issues in this regard and convey New Delhi's concern to the higher authorities in Kathmandu.

Home ministry officials during the talks are learnt to have mentioned as how the "lax security" at Kathmandu Airport had led to hijacking of IA IC-814 aircraft by Pakistani terrorists.

The hijack drama ended on December 31, 1999 with the release of three terrorists including Maulana Masood Azhar. Asked about activities of anti-Indian insurgent groups active in Nepal, Kusum said: "We will not allow our soil to be used for anti-India activities".
Wasnt Tribhuvan airport supposed to be watertight after the IC-814 saga with even our agencies posted at the airport?

If the govt is admitting some lapses there, things must be grim!!! Hope we plug the leak before any disaster happens.

Art of Living gets bomb threat
Indo-Asian News Service
Bangalore, November 1, 2008

Spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's Art of Living Foundation on Saturday received a bomb threat before the start of a meditation course at its centre in Kannur in Kerala, a spokeswoman said.

The spokeswoman told IANS that a post card written in Malayalam reached the Kannur centre warning the place would be blown up if the meditation course was not cancelled.
What is the Takleef in Kerala, can someone tell me? There is no Gujarat, no BJP, no Ayodhya, nothing I can think of which causes the faithful Takleef. The Government is Kerala is probably the best they will get in India along with WB. So what is the problem there? Why the Khujli to go to Kashmir and Fight the Infidel?

Link
New Delhi: The report of two suspected terrorists from Kerala, who were recently killed in Kashmir, has led investigative agencies to conclude that the state is now a major recruitment centre for terrorists. Sources say it’s not religious fanaticism, but monetary incentive that’s turning unemployed youngsters from Kerala to terror.

Alexander Joseph is still in shock after learning of his son's past. Twenty eight-year-old Mohammed Yasir, brought up as Verghese Joseph in Kannur, was shot dead while he trying to infiltrate into Kashmir.

“One day he received a phone call, after which he immediately left for Calicut. Few days later, he returned with a different religion Muslim. He was Muslim. We didn’t like that change. That day he gave us lots of money,” Yasir’s father Alexander Joseph says.

Bapinu has a similar tale to tell. Policemen often visit his home. They say his son Abdul Jabbar helped terrorists from Pakistan.

Many such households across Kerala are weeping for their youngsters today. While majority of them say they had no idea about the activities of their children, perhaps, a few of them did know about it but chose to keep quiet. Perhaps money was playing a vital role here.

Sources say organisations like the Lashkar-e-Toiba pay as much as Rs 25 lakh as start-up money to turn jobless youth into jehadis. They believe a man called Mohammad Faisal to be the kingpin of this terror recruitment cell.

“These fundamentalists are given motor bikes and a monthly allowance. They even give a small amount to their families as a share of their wages,” SP, Kazargode, Subash Babu, says.

For state police, which till now has handled crimes of a smaller nature, terror has certainly come as a rude awakening.

Why dont the Indian army blast the Bangla Border with 50 Brahmos pinpointing to all the terror camps around the Indo-Bangla border ? What are they waiting for ? Is GoI officials waiting for bangladeshis to respond to our request to shut down the terror camps ? are these officials nuts !! Do they really think that asking Bangladeshis to shut down the terror camps by giving them the list will work, I mean if they do think like that than they are no more than useless sh**. What the fu** is stopping the GoI to give Bangla's one months notice to shut down all the terror modules or face an attack from Indian side ? Are they waiting for the time when the Bangla's will have their first nuke and we will be ar**d into thinking that they will attack us with nukes ?

Assam blasts highlight need for urgent mega city policing

PTI | New Delhi

Mega City Policing, a major component of a comprehensive police modernisation scheme, is expected to be extended to all the major cities in the aftermath of recent serial blasts across Assam.

The Union Home Ministry is considering an early implementation of the scheme conceived with the aim of meeting specific challenges in policing in major urban centres and bringing all big cities under its ambit.

Sources said that to ensure success of the scheme, Home Minister Shivraj Patil was in favour of increasing the Central allocation for it.

After the Assam blasts, which claimed over 75 lives, Patil asked his senior officials about the status of the progress on the scheme introduced in 2005-06 and wanted them to suggest how the proposals could be put on the fast-track.

Under the scheme, which is being operationalised in seven cities, four metros, the Centre will provide financial assistance to respective State Governments to procure modern equipment and upgrade its police infrastructure.

Sources said that the scheme is intended to curb urban violence, crime and terrorism in the cities which have crossed population of more than ten lakh.

There are around 35 cities across the country that qualify as mega city and at present. Jaipur, Bhopal, Lucknow, Chandigarh and Kanpur are likely to be brought within the ambit of the scheme.

The idea -- which veers around exclusive city-specific policing plan with a separate budget -- is aimed at providing helicopters, sophisticated gadgets and aerial surveillance equipment to the police.

The scheme envisages giving wireless sets to beat constables, more patrolling vehicles and strengthening intelligence gathering mechanism.

The plan also involves sharing of intelligence among the State police forces, strengthening of forensic sciences laboratories and online access to criminal data base system.

An expert team in the Home Ministry is said to be in favour of providing specialised training to counter economic and cyber offences, organised crimes, strengthening security and intelligence, behaviour training, traffic and communication at police training colleges.

The team also favours intensive use of computerisation in the policing system.

According to an official data, the number of IPC crime across India stood around 17,16,120 in 2003, while in mega cities it was 2,91,246 the same year.

Of the selected cities, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Ahmedabad have witnessed big terror attacks in the recent past.

ATS clueless on Sadhvi's terror links
NDTV Correspondent
Sunday, November 02, 2008, (New Delhi)

The brain mapping and polygraph tests of Sadhvi Pragya Thakur have turned out to be negative.

The Anti Terror Squad has not been able to establish if the Sadhvi has any links with the blasts.

They have also revealed that Pragya Thakur has not held back any information, however, she is still to undergo a narco analysis test.
didn't she already went through a Narco Analysis test ?

ARE WE HEADING TOWARDS A CHRISTIAN INDIA ?

One should add that the majority of politicians in Sonia Gandhi's closed circle are either Christians or Muslims. She seems to have no confidence in Hindus.Ambika Soni, a Christian, is General Secretary of the Congress and a very powerful person, with close access to Sonia Gandhi. Oscar Fernandes is Union Programme Implementation Minister. Margaret Alwa is the eminence grise of Maharasthra. Karnataka is virtually controlled by AK Anthony, whose secretaries are all from the Southern Christian association. Valson Thampu, a Hindu hater, is Chairman NCERT curriculum Review Committee, John Dayal, another known Hindu baiter, has been named by Sonia Gandhi in the National Integration Council ; and Kancha Ilaya, who hates Hindus, is being allowed by the Indian Government to lobby with the UN and US Congress so that caste discrimination in India is taken-up by these bodies.

http://www.francoisgautier.com/Written% ... india.html
According to one, increasingly well-known, line of argument, Western ‘secularism’ is in many ways and in a profound sense the prolongation of a Christian outlook and sensibility (even when many of its votaries believe themselves to be a-religious or even atheists). Would this not imply that Hindus, by simply embracing modernity, are becoming (crypto-) ‘Christians’ (even unbeknown to themselves…)?

Forensic tests on sadhvi Pragya draw a blank
The two forensic tests-psychological profiling and polygraph tests-carried out on sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, key accused in the Malegaon blast case, on Saturday has failed to yield any fresh information. The tests also indicated that she was not lying. The sadhvi was earlier subjected to brain mapping which also indicated that she was not holding back information.
Keep on Lying UPA, you are digging your own (political) grave.

Two articles from Outlook. The first by Gautier, who is consistent in defending "Hindu"/Indian interests from western propaganda, trying to educate people as to why there is a sometimes spontaneous backlash against attacks/actions from anti-Indian/Hindu interests. The second is a report on the Malegaon probe, where it is alleged that "Hindu/Right Wing" (two media descriptions) groups have indulged in terrorist attacks.

If the reports about the Malegaon suspects are true, they must be seen in the entire context of what the country has been enduring for two+ decades.Concerted Islamist terror against the entire nation.Added to this is the insidous actions of pro-active "Christian" fundamentalists who have also stirred the communal pot ,who appear to take their orders and funds from abroad, espcially US evangelical groups. As the famous saying goes,"each action brings with it an equal and opposite reaction".If right wing groups are resorting to their own counter actions, then it is due entirely to the failure of the GOI to have addressed the campaign of terror against India and also kept an eye on the subversion of our poorest through religion.Acute frustration on the part of a few individuals cannot be equated with the massive conspiracy of terror, which has been allowed to grow like a terminal cancer and at times even nurtured by inaction, indiffernce and sometimes even by allowing the guilty to go scot free.

The Hindu Rate Of Wrath
When the Mahatma's cowards erupt in fury, it hurts. It isn't terror.

Francois Gautier

Is there such a thing as 'Hindu terrorism', as the arrest of Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur for the recent Malegaon blasts may tend to prove? Well, I guess I was asked to write this column because I am one of that rare breed of foreign correspondents—a lover of Hindus! A born Frenchman, Catholic-educated and non-Hindu, I do hope I'll be given some credit for my opinions, which are not the product of my parents' ideas, my education or my atavism, but garnered from 25 years of reporting in South Asia (for Le Journal de Geneve and Le Figaro).

In the early 1980s, when I started freelancing in south India, doing photo features on kalaripayattu, the Ayyappa festival, or the Ayyanars, I slowly realised that the genius of this country lies in its Hindu ethos, in the true spirituality behind Hinduism. The average Hindu you meet in a million villages possesses this simple, innate spirituality and accepts your diversity, whether you are Christian or Muslim, Jain or Arab, French or Chinese. It is this Hinduness that makes the Indian Christian different from, say, a French Christian, or the Indian Muslim unlike a Saudi Muslim. I also learnt that Hindus not only believed that the divine could manifest itself at different times, under different names, using different scriptures (not to mention the wonderful avatar concept, the perfect answer to 21st century religious strife) but that they had also given refuge to persecuted minorities from across the world—Syrian Christians, Parsis, Jews, Armenians, and today, Tibetans. In 3,500 years of existence, Hindus have never militarily invaded another country, never tried to impose their religion on others by force or induced conversions.

You cannot find anybody less fundamentalist than a Hindu in the world and it saddens me when I see the Indian and western press equating terrorist groups like SIMI, which blow up innocent civilians, with ordinary, angry Hindus who burn churches without killing anybody. We know also that most of these communal incidents often involve persons from the same groups—often Dalits and tribals—some of who have converted to Christianity and others not.

However reprehensible the destruction of Babri Masjid, no Muslim was killed in the process; compare this to the 'vengeance' bombings of 1993 in Bombay, which wiped out hundreds of innocents, mostly Hindus. Yet the Babri Masjid destruction is often described by journalists as the more horrible act of the two. We also remember how Sharad Pawar, when he was chief minister of Maharashtra in 1993, lied about a bomb that was supposed to have gone off in a Muslim locality of Bombay.

I have never been politically correct, but have always written what I have discovered while reporting. Let me then be straightforward about this so-called Hindu terror. Hindus, since the first Arab invasions, have been at the receiving end of terrorism, whether it was by Timur, who killed 1,00,000 Hindus in a single day in 1399, or by the Portuguese Inquisition which crucified Brahmins in Goa. Today, Hindus are still being targeted: there were one million Hindus in the Kashmir valley in 1900; only a few hundred remain, the rest having fled in terror. Blasts after blasts have killed hundreds of innocent Hindus all over India in the last four years. Hindus, the overwhelming majority community of this country, are being made fun of, are despised, are deprived of the most basic facilities for one of their most sacred pilgrimages in Amarnath while their government heavily sponsors the Haj. They see their brothers and sisters converted to Christianity through inducements and financial traps, see a harmless 84-year-old swami and a sadhvi brutally murdered. Their gods are blasphemed.

So sometimes, enough is enough. At some point, after years or even centuries of submitting like sheep to slaughter, Hindus—whom the Mahatma once gently called cowards—erupt in uncontrolled fury. And it hurts badly. It happened in Gujarat. It happened in Jammu, then in Kandhamal, Mangalore, and Malegaon. It may happen again elsewhere. What should be understood is that this is a spontaneous revolution on the ground, by ordinary Hindus, without any planning from the political leadership. Therefore, the BJP, instead of acting embarrassed, should not disown those who choose other means to let their anguished voices be heard.

There are about a billion Hindus, one in every six persons on this planet. They form one of the most successful, law-abiding and integrated communities in the world today. Can you call them terrorists?

So what is the battery of tests being conducted in purusit of the 'truth"? This whole thing looks like a set-up just as it was with Shankaracharya of kanchi. Who fights for his truth?

Judicial custody of Sadhvi has been extended till 17th Dec. 2008 just to make sure that politics can be played on 'hindu terrorism'. As some sort of proof proving her hand in the blast , ATS has released her phone conversation transcript in which she 'allegedly' asked 'why so few died in blast?' . Not sure how can this be declared out as 'damming evidence' atleast in court of law maybe in court of public opinion it can sold but not in a trial court .Anyhow we will never know the truth if Congress wins state election in MP , this case will go on & on enough to make sure that 'hindu terrorism' == 'jihadi terrorism' and if BJP wins , Sadhvi will be released and Congress will cry political interference in police investigation ( hampering ATS of Maharashtra Police ) as per Congress Strategists . Its not that concerned people in power corridors but spinal cord is missing these days .

I don't understand why BJP don't create a powerful media(both print and TV) and fund it behind the scene.
They need to do this otherwise they will loose the battle.

ATS: Pragnya had long phone talk with accused
The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad counsel told chief judicial magistrate K.D. Boche that during the long conversation between the Sadhvi and the prime accused Ramji after the September 29 Malegaon blasts, he told her “I have done my job.”

Sadhvi Pragnya asked Ramji whether the police had seized her motorcycle used in the blasts and why fewer people were killed in the incident, said the prosecution.

It claimed that Ramji told the Sadhvi: “I did not find proper parking place for the bike.”
Why were only 6 people killed?
Special public prosecutor Ajay Mishar claimed that that this conversation was overheard by a witnesses, who gave a statement to the magistrate under the provisions of CrPC Section 164.

According to the witness’ statement, Ramji replied: “As the area was crowded, I could not park the vehicle where it could have created maximum damage”. Ramji allegedly told Thakur that he was scared of being caught.

Scanner on rebel couple
The West Midnapore blast probe is focusing on a couple who head the Lalgarh squad of the CPI (Maoist), arguably the rebels’ most lethal strike force, police sources said.

satya is bang on, Congress is playing its dirty politics here. Actually, this is a masterstroke by Congress. One, this will divert the attention from of Hindu masses from Islamic terrorism, which happened to some degree. Two, HFLs/psecs will get a stick to beat the "communals". Three, this will help Congis in re-establishing their 'secular' credentials amongst their popular and robust vote-banks, this was particularly important after the Jamia Nagar encounter. Going by the comments of educated Moslems to tirade of Digvijay Singh against RSS/BJP/VHP/Modi etc, Congis' strategy is working well. Fourth, this will create (infact it has created) differences amongst BJP/Sangh/SS etc. Some will argue to support her, some will try to appear more secular than congress, some will argue for middle path.

And now that Sadhvi's judicial custody has been extended till post assembly election time, prepare yourself for being bombarded for equal-equal during elections. Inspite of all this super-secular strategy by the Congis, I have a feeling that this will come to bite them in election.

Meanwhile, Terrorism or just hate crimes?
This week, as pictures of the Sadhvi with BJP President Rajnath Singh splashed across newspapers, it practically gave birth to a new, somewhat oxymoronish lexicon, the Hindu terrorist -- something like "militant pacifism" or "liberal fundamentalism" or, better still, "objective journalism". However, viewed in the context of history, there is no reason for feeling either surprise or shame. The premise that Hindus were ahimsa-ites at all times is a Gandhian fabrication based on an ideal which worked quite well to India's advantage in a century marked by gulags, holocausts and atom bombs. It's true that pacificism is a general Hindu tendency. But, time and again, a degree of masculinity was sought to be injected into the Hindu vocabulary of protest by remote extensions of essentially non-combative movements. Rakesh Sinha (Main Story) goes into considerable detail on this. But linking these groups to established institutions and personalities was nothing more than the result of some overzealous intelligence officials, a tribe that persists to the present times. In the 1970s and 80s, much public money was spent in tainting the Ananda Marg as a rogue outfit. But not one of the dozens of cases, including a death sentence on its founder, held in higher courts.
So, you have propaganda linking Graham Staines murderer Dara Singh to the Bajrang Dal. It flopped in court, but so what? The stigma remains. The Nehru administration deployed its best policemen and legal luminaries to establish that Veer Savarkar motivated Nathuram Godse, the killer of Gandhi -- in vain. But propagandists are seldom distracted by facts. Indira Gandhi's government, which vetted the script for Richard Attenborough's Gandhi, took care to insert a scene in which a bearded sadhu bearing strong resemblance to Savarkar, was shown inciting Godse as he blocked Gandhi's path in a pre-assassination scene.

Aren't they inviting Hindu terrorists to screw them. What if some extremist Hindu guys/gals accept that they're Hindu terrorists and kill some of these Congress and media psec walahs. Muslim terrorists have been attacking Hindu parties and, now, Hindu terrorists attack psec parties. That sure brings balance to the system of gutter politics in India in a weird way.

Chances are pretty less as I feel this minoritist UPA will not return in 2009. However, what you have stated is inevitable. Fault lines are getting wider and wider, how can we move together when educated Muslim youth praises the statements of Diggy raja. How will someone whose family member died in one of the blasts will take the statments of Diggy?

I have a feeling BJP is reeling out the fish line on the sahdvi pragya
case and letting the Cong(I) swim deeper up the creek before they
spring the trap.

dont be surprised if she is projected as a major victim later and
elevated to MP status.

One hopes that a fair, impartial investigation is carried out in the Malegaon case. There are a numberv of anomalies and doubts in the minds of the ordinary citizen, thanks to the general attitude of the current regime towards the nation wide Isliamist terror with serious suspicions of "votebank politics" at work, preventing justice for the innocent victims.

Let us assume a worst case scenario, that after a fair ,impartial investigation,it is found that some of our countrymen have taken it into their own hands to defend /avenge the nation for the series of terrorist acts which have gone unpunished. In the entire gamut of terrorism that has afflicted the nation during the Congress tenure, the Malegaon case is a drop in the ocean. If political games are going to be played using this one case,it will seriously backfire on the current govt.
The worst event that can happen for the country is for India to become another Pak or Iraq, where, due to central govt. duplicity,a host of private groups have taken to arms to safeguard their own interests. What is clearly needed is as I mentioned earlier also by LKA,that a "zero tolerance" attitude is needed to defeat terrorism.

Malegaon (if true),is nothing but a symptom of the disease of "appeasement of terror".If the centre cannot protect the ordinary citizens of the country, then law abiding citizens themselves will have to look to other alternatives to defeat terrorism and the tribalisation/Balkanisation of the country becomes a looming fear. One does agree that the advantage is always with the terroists. It is difficult to defeat such terror when the handlers and masterminds are often outside the country. They do not advertise their plans as well.In an article today in the media, the failure of intelligence is described, how human intel, the only form available during the British Raj,has been allowed to languish and the results are self-evident.

However,in the current scenario, the GOI looks clueless and visionless in dealing with terror. It just hopes that terror will somehow "go away"! If the GOI appeared to be serious about dealing with terror and made genuine attempts to bring the guilty to book and then siccessfully prosecute them and execute the guilt,it would instill confidence in the ordinary citizen. Two decades plus,Rajiv's killers are trying to escape justice thanks to the fifth columnists in Tamilnadu! What chances are there that the current perpetrators of terror if caught will ever be dealt with? If this is going to be the centre's attitude towards terror, then it is open season for those affected by the terror and one can understand them if they take justice into their own hands.

This is the insidious method by which trrorists try and escape justice. If Indonesia can hang their own mUlims found guilty, then why can't india do the same to those who have been found guilty by the highest court in the land?

Bali bombers' execution: Threat to US and Australian embassies
The US and Australian embassies in Indonesia have received bomb threats ahead of the execution of three Islamists convicted over the 2002 Bali bombings.

PS: I have a suggestion to ensure prevention, fair investigation and prosecution,of terror acts, that Parliament sets up a standing commitee on internal security/terrroism (if none exists) in similar manner as exists on national security/defence,members drawn from all parties. It will go a long way in ensuring public confidence.
