Pig organs make 46 ill in China
All those who fell sick had eaten pig organs, said Wang Guobin, an official with the Guangzhou Municipal Public Health Bureau. Initial investigations showed the organs were contaminated with clenbuterol.

The chemical can stop pigs accumulating fat and can be used by humans as a weight loss aid and to help ease breathing disorders. It is banned as an additive in pig feed in China.

China summons Russian ambassador
BEIJING: China summoned Russia's ambassador Friday to express shock over the sinking of a Chinese cargo ship by a Russian warship and urge a thorough investigation, the foreign ministry said.

Eight of the 16 crew members on board were killed when shots from a Russian naval vessel sank the Chinese-owned cargo ship the New Star off Russia's east coast on Sunday.

Russia has blamed the cargo ship's captain for the incident. Russian diplomatic spokesman Andrey Nesterenko expressed regret over the incident, but said the Chinese ship had failed to heed warning shots.

"We regret the tragic consequences of this incident," he told a news agency.
China slams Russian attitude to sunken ship: report
BEIJING: China's foreign ministry said Friday Russia's attitude to the sinking of a Chinese cargo ship by a Russian warship was "unacceptable", according to Chinese state media.

The attitude of the Russian foreign ministry is "hard to understand and unacceptable" for China, said Zhang Xiyun, director-general for the Department of European-Central Asian Affairs, according to the official news agency.

Earlier, China urged Russia to investigate the incident.

a new scandle of "mouse&cat(躲猫猫)" shocks&ammuses China.

Feb. 8,2009, a accused suspects died in a hospital after He got injured "strangely" in a Detention Center in Yunnan province ,CHina.

After the scandle was exposed on websites, the whole country got shocked in CHina. Most of Chinese netizens believe that the death of the accused suspect must be caused by the Police's Torture. Millions of CHinese netizens appeal a investigation on the scandle.

So,the local government has to have a "joint investigation" on the scandle. However, the investigation launched by the local government provided a most absurd&ammusing conclusion ,that the death of accused suspect was caused by a game called "mouse&cat(躲猫猫)" and had nothing to do with "police tortures.
According to the absurd and ammusing conclusion, the accused suspect and other suspects in the detention center played the game of "mouse&cat" with eyes covered by cloth after all policemen got asleep. During the game, because the eyes were covered by cloth, the accused suspect knocked his head on the wall and got injured seriously.
Hi,indian friends, do you believe the absurd& ammusing conclusion?
Anyhow, I don't believe it, neither do most chinese......

Three set themselves on fire in Beijing protest near Tiananmen Square

Three people set themselves on fire in their car in a protest near Tiananmen Square in the heart of the Chinese capital Beijing on Wednesday
...
The authorities gave few details, but said the three people had come to Beijing to air "personal grievances".
...
It has been the venue for occasional protests since, including a number of self-immolations.
...
On this occasion, the witnesses said there were three Chinese national flags on top of the silver-grey car.
...
Next week sees the start of the annual two-week meeting of the National People's Congress, China's rubber-stamp parliament, which often acts as a magnet for "petitioners" who come to Beijing to lodge complaints against local officials.

The discussion is more like people gloating and laughing at people who died, calling them names like morons, comedian, bitchs, pat-dogs, burnt ducks.

One thing you cant accuse the chinese is lack of imagination in using cuss words.

Self immolators are called burnt ducks, who would have thought about that.

And i dont find anything which suggests they were tibetans. Which tibetans wuld carry 3 chinese flags on top on the car? I think the persons who were calling the dead names would be surprised to find that the dead were chinese not tibetans.

US needs to stabilise India-Pak relationship first: Chinese daily
In a recent article in the Chinese language magazine Huanqiu, Fu Xiaojiang, from the China Institute for Contemporary International Relations, wrote that China had sent its special envoy to South Asia to mediate between India and Pakistan after the Mumbai attacks. It shows that China is paying more attention to the security of its neighbourhood, and is more willing to shoulder its burden and its big power moral (duty) to preserve regional security. This is the same thread that runs through the People's Daily editorial.

Fu continues, "The two countries' (India and Pakistan) contradictions are at the root of South Asia's security problems and is also the key problem that comes up when big powers consider the situation in South Asia. Actually India accepting the mediation/good offices of US and China would be favourable for India-Pakistan relations and for the entire region."

If we can set aside our emotions about Tibet and "The Hindu", what evidence do we have about concrete development that China is doing in Tibet in terms of infrastructure, especially.

China announces double-digit military spending boost
... . . . China will boost military spending by 14.9% this year despite the economic slowdown, continuing a run of double-digit increases that have unsettled the US and Asian neighbours.

The spokesman for the National People's Congress – China's rubber-stamp parliament, which begins its annual session tomorrow – told reporters it was a "modest" increase which would increase capabilities and improve conditions for the 2.3 million members of the world's largest army.

Li Zhaoxing said defence spending will reach 480.6bn yuan (£50bn), 62.5bn yuan more than 2008. But the rise is slightly below last year's 17.6% increase – and the total is still dwarfed by US military spending.

The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) estimates that even when comparative buying power is considered, China spent the equivalent of $140bn (£99bn) in 2007, to America's $547bn. The UK spent the equivalent of $54bn.

China got through to UNSC via the back-door. China's contribution to the "war effort" as a result of which it was apparently rewarded is a very hazy affair - for the seat was actually given to the "nationalist China" of the Guo-min-dang of Chiang Kai Shek, whose own records at fighting the Japanese is a story of dismal failures and extraordinary corruption. India's boot-licking historians have never made this a public issue - that in comparison India's contribution to winning the war on behalf of teh Allies have never been recognized as India was formally still then treated as part of the British empire. In that sense - both in comparative contiribution and as part of the UK- India should already have been guaranteed a position in the UNSC. India's history-less politicians simply do not have the brains to lash out when such comments appear - that intellectual viciousness and impromptu savage intellectual reaction that was a hallmark of the founding fathers of India are gone. China is not a factor, for India should also firmly hint that any nation that obstructs India's legitimate roles and positions out of narrow, devious and selfish interests and hidden agendas shoudl be aware that course of events may lead the world to a situation where such petty politics makes the whole instituion meaningless and redundant - with new independent institutions being formed.

Two articles in People’s Daily, the Chinese Communist Party’s mouthpiece, have India worried about Beijing’s “intentions”.

In its issue dated February 23, the daily has equated the India-Pakistan problem — or the Kashmir issue — with problems of terrorism in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The “Afghan problem”, the “Pakistani problem” and the “Indian-Pakistani problem” were “all related”, an article said, adding this was the reason US special envoy to Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Holbrooke included India in his visit to the region.
So good of china. The "Xinjiang problem" also known as "East Turkistan problem" is linked to "Afghan Problem" and "Pakistan problem". China seems to be very keen to invite Holbrooke to solve their problem. While he is solving that problem china may also like him to solve their "Tibet problem" too. This is the way to maintain good neighbourly ties. And whatever happened to that Panchsheel that they signed. Did they forgot the non-interference in internal matters part of it or do they have a very short memory.

THE CCP is now testing the limits of their newfound economic leverage by pushing against unkil's military presence and assets....

China says U.S. naval ship broke the law
BEIJING (Reuters) - China said on Tuesday that a U.S. Navy ship involved in a confrontation with its fleet off the southern island of Hainan had violated international and Chinese laws.

Washington had urged China to observe international maritime rules after the Pentagon said five Chinese ships, including a naval vessel, harassed the USNS Impeccable in international waters on Sunday.

"The U.S. claims are gravely in contravention of the facts and confuse black and white and they are totally unacceptable to China," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu told a regular news briefing.
And here's the punchline:
But the confrontation was unlikely to do lasting damage to ties between two countries as they combat the global economic slump, a Chinese analyst in Beijing said.
I do expect PRC dirty tricks all over south asia now.
