Chandrayan-1 moon mission
Re: Chandrayan-1 moon mission
Another Revelation, though a different kind

A former US government scientist arrested on Monday for espionage has a close connection to India.
Federal Bureau Investigation agents posed as Israeli intelligence officers in an undercover operation and found Nozette was willing to give them classified information.
Stewart Nozette was a top American co-investigator for India's maiden mission to the moon, Chandrayaan-1.
. 'Nozette did visit ISRO facilities at least twice, but he was NOT allowed into the sensitive and restricted areas. ISRO's security has not been compromised. This arrest is an internal matter of NASA,' says A. Bhaskara Narayana, Scientific Secretary to ISRO.
Re: Chandrayan-1 moon mission
Just speculating, but what would be the sensitive areas within ISRO? Isn't this supposed to be a civilian space program?
Areas where RISATs are being built?
Any opinions?

Re: Chandrayan-1 moon mission
Aren't commercial trade secrets worth guarding in the competitive world market ?
And in this case god forbid if anyone is caught in west or elsewhere with ISRO artifacts(say design specs of launch vehicle or even a payload) the dual use apologists and MTCR junta would make a huge hue and cry over this. And what about future prospective customers who see ISRO as an economically viable alternative to western launchers , how are they supposed to trust an entity with an expensive and sensitive payload , specially when latter fails to guard its own secrets ?

Re: Chandrayan-1 moon mission
Launch vehicle / satellite technology is dual use and so sensitive.
Here in this case, ISRO confirmed that he was being shadowed while in ISRO. Lets hope for the best

Re: Chandrayan-1 moon mission
Seems like ISRO updated their site with more details on Chandrayaan couple of days back..
seems like there are new details from TMC, HySI, LLRI, C1XS and RADOM. Pretty impressive topographic details from LLRI. I just hope they completed gather details for most of the surface.
I would be all for another identical mission except for the MIP, if it can last the whole 2 years..
