Ah, dont be too quick to jump to that conclusion. Brig. Ejaz Shah, in whose house OSS was sipping zam zam cola when entire Pakistan was looking for him, was reputedly OBL's handler. Also in charge of BB's security and one of four named by BB in a letter, as being behind the first attempt to kill her. As it happens Brig. Ejaz Shah also happens to be Jernail bandicoot's chaddi dost, appointed by Mushy as ambassador to Australia and Australian FO actually refused to accept him ! Bandicoot then made him the IB chief from 2004 to 2008, resigning one week before Groper became PM.

British intelligence cracks trans-Atlantic terrorist network

The arrest of an alleged al-Qaeda gang in Manchester and Liverpool said to be planning an Easter bombing campaign earlier this year led investigators to Najibullah Zazi in New York, sources say. It is claimed he was part of a gang set to attack the New York subway using truck bombs or suicide bombers with the same explosives used on July 21 in London.

Security sources have told the Daily Telegraph that Zazi and the men arrested in Manchester were part of a complex network directed from Pakistan. {Where else ?}

For Pak to break the shackles of the US it needs India's support. It has to make peace with India before it can assert itself so boldly against its richest patron for decades. How the Paki military is going to swallow its decades of hatred against India is the moot question, almost an impossibility, therefore its only chance of revolting against the US is to support the anti-US forces to the hilt covertly, while bullshi**ing the US,and hope that the Chinese bail it out economically. This is probably what the ISI clan want,a strategy which Gen.Bandicoot well played .The problem now is that the US has wised up to the facts of Pak's double game and are zeroing in on their nukes. The situ is getting to even more explosive!

Only a revolution within pakistan will change the way its military behaves. Much like Nazi Germany changed after its curshing defeat, the suicide of its leaders, and the destruction of that nation, which finally turned ordinary germans against the nazi philosophy.

Now the ordinary pakistanis seem to be enjoying the fact that they are an islamic nuclear power, and are one up on the ummah arabic brothers. These guys really believe in the gazwa-e-hind shitty poo that Jahil Hamid dishes out. The concept of Jihad sounds just great to them.

The last few months has given them pause to stop and they are being forced to smell the coffee. The shocker will be when they learn that they are Nooke Noode, their Army is virtually sold out to massa. This will be a shocker at par with the aftermath of '71. All the castles they've built in mid air will come crashing down. The final nail will be Balochistan and Pashtoonistan - only when massa agrees to this with Indian (and Iranian) help.

The pakistani pie needs to be cut if the world has to be rid of the Kichadi of Jihad. Divide and rule. Period.

India buys half of IMF’s gold for sale; who’s next?
Reserve Bank of India Governor Bimal Jalan said the move was aimed at boosting resources for the IMF as both India and China had promised to help raise ‘fungible resources’ to help other developing countries.
Hard working reporter got the RBI governor's name wrong. May be he is carrying fake notes....

FYI RBI Governor is Dr. D Subbarao

A journey into rediscovery of identity starts
It appears that Pakistan is regressing even further. Now, the identity starts from just Partition days, it appears, not even the bin Qasim time.
The exhibition centres on the theme of identity, features photo and art exhibitions, documentaries, interactive plays, audio-video installations, oral storytelling and various other verbal presentations. . . On one hand you would have a chance to walk through the length and breadth of the streets and buildings of Karachi, the first capital of Pakistan, and on the other, you could savour the golden era of Lollywood. . .. Moreover, if unfortunately you did not have a chance to spend time with your grandparents and hear the stories of the Partition; you can listen to the archives . . . CAP President Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy said the purpose of the festival is to tell the young generation of the country about its culture, traditions and history.

It all about the identity,” is how she introduced the festival.
Very troublesome indeed, this identity business for the Pakistanis.

China capturing Pakistan’s export market to Australia
KARACHI: The strong presence of China is blocking the growth of Pakistani exports to Australia.

Except rice, the red dragon of the east is the main supplier of those products, which are Pakistan’s top exporting products, a study of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) revealed.

China is the major competent in the products of bedwear and towels and has captured around tow-third of the Australian market.

In case of towel, Bangladesh is enjoying a duty free market access, whereas Pakistan, India and China are facing 17.5 percent import duty.

...

Rice was biggest export item to Australia in 2008. Bed linen of cotton, bed linen of other textile material and towels were the second, third and forth biggest items this year.

Other important items’ export has increased like surgical instruments, leather garments, leather gloves, gloves impregnated, knitted, curtains and broken rice while export of sports related items, cotton fabrics and footballs have decreased. {We know what "leather goods" the Islami Jamhooria Pakistan has been exporting :P :oops: }

...

On the other hand, coal was the largest import item of Pakistan, which constituted 31 percent of total import from Australia. Colza seeds, phosphate fertilizer and lead were the second, third and forth largest importing products.

On the investment side, Australian investment in Pakistan turned negative with the outflow of $73 million as portfolio investment last year, which otherwise was consistently increasing in the previous year

Historian links fall of Berlin Wall to rise of religious extremism in Pakistan
Prominent historian Dr Mubarak Ali believes the fall of the Berlin Wall is an event that changed the whole political scenario in the Indian subcontinent  since it resulted in strengthening the rightist forces in Pakistan and consequently, the rise in religious extremism in the country.

For the people of the West, it was a matter of happiness, but the fall of the Berlin Wall had some dire consequences for the secular forces in Pakistan,” said Dr Ali, while delivering a lecture at the Goethe-Institute during a programme arranged by the German Consulate to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.

“The day some Western historians interpreted the fall of the Berlin Wall as the defeat of communism, secular and communist forces in Pakistan were weakened and religious extremists took it as their victory,” Dr Ali informed the audience.

Dr Ali is one of the leading modern day historians and a critic of history that is taught in the country’s schools and colleges.

He said after the weakening of communism, rightist forces assured the society that there was no place for capitalism as well in Pakistan, and hence the religious system was the best option left.

“It was after the fall of the Berlin Wall that the Islamists started cleansing the Western impact from the Islamic culture ,” he went on to say.

However, Dr Ali added that the fall of the Berlin Wall also led to some positive theories, such as some intellectuals arguing that if two states with different ideologies can unite in the West then why not Pakistan and India.

He said there were some similarities between the division of Germany and Indo-Pak sub continent, like the divided families on both sides of the border facing a lot of problems. “However, the number of people supporting this idea on both sides of the border were few and hence they started looking for alternatives,” he added.

Dr Ali said people-to-people contact between India and Pakistan was a consequence of the fall of the Berlin Wall, and added that during the late 90s, the relationship between the two countries had reached its peak but the Kargil war acted as a catalyst in the collapse of the whole peace process.

all through his afsar career mushy would have sequestered funds away. also now US and UK governments will be subsidising him for security and other things. he will have friends in the diaspora and the fauji jarnail retirement fund would also have provided generously. i am sure a pension package was worked out for him at 'retirement'.

he gets onto talk shows and lecture circuits because he is a talker. the fact that he talks out of his mushraff is of secondary importance, his position alone gurantees him an audience. he can show up, bluff and bluster and pocket the cash. everyone's happy. the think tank circuit has its own dynamics. i've been to a couple of lectures, all sorts of interesting people there. pak jarnails are the most amusing. pompous psychopaths with a very handsome karnail in flashy suits carrying their briefcase. heads stuck up their own musharrafs threatening the world with nuclear war at the drop of a hat. all you have to do is look around the audience and see the wry smiles and rolling eyeballs to know how seriously they are being taken.

British intelligence cracks trans-Atlantic terrorist network
The network was uncovered following the arrest of a US national, Bryant Neal Vinas, in Pakistan last November.

Vinas, 26, also known as “Bashir al-Ameriki,” claims he met Rashid Rauf, the British al-Qaeda commander behind the trans-Atlantic bomb plot.

Vinas had been in Pakistan since 2007 where he admits he received training from al-Qaeda and agreed to become a suicide bomber, plotting to blow up a train on the Long Island Rail Road inside Pennsylvania Station.

After Vinas was detained, a number of arrests followed in Belgium in December and in April this year Greater Manchester Police arrested 12 Pakistani students after GCHQ intercepted emails about girls and cars that were allegedly code for a planned attack.

Interesting article. Apologies if already posted.
Defending the Arsenal
In an unstable Pakistan, can nuclear warheads be kept safe?

by Seymour M. Hersh

I flew to New Delhi after my stay in Pakistan and met with two senior officials from the Research and Analysis Wing, India’s national intelligence agency. (Of course, as in Pakistan, no allegation about the other side should be taken at face value.) “Our worries are about the nuclear weapons in Pakistan,” one of the officials said. “Not because we are worried about the mullahs taking over the country; we’re worried about those senior officers in the Pakistan Army who are Caliphates”—believers in a fundamentalist pan-Islamic state. “We know some of them and we have names,” he said. “We’ve been watching colonels who are now brigadiers. These are the guys who could blackmail the whole world”—that is, by seizing a nuclear weapon.

The Indian intelligence official went on, “Do we know if the Americans have that intelligence? This is not in the scheme of the way you Americans look at things—‘Kayani is a great guy! Let’s have a drink and smoke a cigar with him and his buddies.’ Some of the men we are watching have notions of leading an Islamic army.”

In an interview the next afternoon, an Indian official who has dealt diplomatically with Pakistan for years said, “Pakistan is in trouble, and it’s worrisome to us because an unstable Pakistan is the worst thing we can have.” But he wasn’t sure what America could do. “They like us better in Pakistan than you Americans,” he said. “I can tell you that in a public-opinion poll we, India, will beat you.”

India and Pakistan, he added, have had back-channel talks for years in an effort to resolve the dispute over Kashmir, but “Pakistan wants talks for the sake of talks, and it does not carry out the agreements already reached.” (In late October, Manmohan Singh, the Indian Prime Minister, publicly renewed an offer of talks, but tied it to a request that Pakistan crack down on terrorism; Pakistan’s official response was to welcome the overture.)

The Indian official, like his counterparts in Pakistan, believed that Americans did not appreciate what his government had done for them. “Why did the Pakistanis remove two divisions from the border with us?” He was referring to the shifting of Pakistani forces, at the request of the United States, to better engage the Taliban. “It means they have confidence that we will not take advantage of the situation. We deserve a pat on the back for this.” Instead, the official said, with a shrug, “you are too concerned with your relationship with Pakistan.”

Charsadda is just outside Peshawar. The previous Home Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao comes from here. IIRC, he was targetted three or four times there but he escaped while almost a hundred others were killed in those suicide bombings.

Osama is still alive: Hekmatyar

LAHORE: Hezb-e-Islami chief Gulbudin Hekmatyar has said that Osama Bin Laden is still alive, a private TV channel reported on Monday. Speaking in a video message, Hekmatyar said the US would be given “safe exit” if it decided to pull out of Afghanistan. “Al Qaeda’s ‘wrong’ strategy was the reason the Taliban were toppled,” he said. Hekmatyar said that Iran, India and China were supporting the American cause in Afghanistan despite having “problems with each other”. He condemned the suicide attacks in Pakistan and urged “those people who had launched a war against Pakistani security forces” that they should fight against foreign forces. daily times monitor

With Zardari in survival mode, national security issues are not getting attention
A top military general is said to have shared with his politician friend the view that some top security issues are not getting the kind of attention they deserve from the Presidency and the government. {Only in Pakistan Generals talk to politicians about such matters}

The politician friend confided to The News that the general’s response conveys the military’s concerns over the indifference of the present political dispensation towards some serious security matters.

He said the meetings of the National Command and Control Authority and that of the Defence Committee of the Cabinet have not been convened for months, despite requests by the military establishment. The last meeting of the DCC was held on March 21, 2009, whereas the NC&CA last met on December 14, 2007.

The report said that the prime minister was inclined to convene a DCC meeting, but he did not do that because of some ministers’ objections. Apart from defence, foreign affairs, interior and finance ministers, services chiefs, chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) director-general usually attend the DCC meetings, which are rarely held.

It is also said that the defence authorities are also seeking the government’s permission to test its new ballistic missile as India is all set to do the same anytime during the current month. Will Pakistan test its ballistic missile is not yet clear.

Meanwhile, it is also learnt that President Asif Ali Zardari had recently assured some key members of the establishment that he would sack some of his close political associates and bureaucratic aides for their stinking reputation and suspicious connections with foreign intelligence agencies.

A credible source said President Zardari has himself confided to some of his visitors, including a senior journalist, that he had committed, in his meeting with some important members of the establishment, to sacking a federal minister, his chief bureaucratic aide, an adviser, a couple of his confidants in the Foreign Ministry. {Again, only in Pakistan}

The source said that the president was frankly told about the doubtful role being played by these red-flagged individuals. About the federal minister, it was said that he had strong connections with some foreign intelligence agencies, which are conspiring against Pakistan.

The president, the source said, was also informed of the role of a Foreign Ministry official, who had manoeuvred and later publicly endorsed anti-Pakistan moves of a foreign country. It is not yet clear as to why the president has not yet removed those, who are considered as “security risk” and are the reason for widening gap between the Presidency and the country’s establishment.

However, the source believed that in view of the NRO fiasco (for its beneficiaries), the expected opening up of the corruption and criminal cases against most of these political and bureaucratic aides of President Zardari in the near future might become the apparent ground for rolling some unwanted heads.

The New Yorker
Seymour Hersh’s article in the New Yorker has certainly stirred things up in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The article has now elicited an ISPR press release:
Press Release

No 474/2009-ISPR Dated: November 9, 2009

Rawalpindi - November 9 2009:

Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Tariq Majid NI(M) has rejected the article by Seymour M. Hersh published in ‘The New Yorker’ terming it as absurd and plain mischievous. He Stated “we have operationalised a very effective nuclear security regime which incorporates very stringent custodial and access controls. As overall custodian of the development of our strategic programme I reiterate in very unambiguous terms that there is absolutely no question of sharing or allowing any foreign individual entity or a state any access to sensitive information about our nuclear assets. Our engagement with other countries through IAEA or bilaterally to learn more about the international best practices for security of such assets are based on two clearly spelt out Red Lines – ‘non intrusiveness’ and ‘our right to pick and choose’. Also our security apparatus has the capacity and is fully geared to meet all conceivable challenges therefore we do not need to negotiate with any other country to physically augment our security forces which in any case we believe are more capable than their forces”.

Commenting on the question raised through an article captioned ‘Pakistan Nuclear Security Plan: How much does US really know?’ which appeared in ‘The News’ Islamabad on 9 November 09 General Tariq responded “only that much as they can guess and nothing more”.

At one point Farid did put the onus of instability in the region to 60 years of rivalry between India and Pukestan, instead of being upfront about the social engineering experiment gone bad by the sahibs.
Also, he kept repeating that Pakistan feared Afghanistan would fall under Indian influence. Never said anything about Pakitan's dreams of strategic depth or that of accessing CAR through Afghanistan.

Car bomb in Pakistan marketplace kills 34
"They have started targeting public places," said North-West Frontier Province Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain. Peshawar is the province's capital. "They are punishing innocent people for supporting the army operation [in South Waziristan]. But the people will not lose hope."

my studies of history indicate a vile offspring off the white Huns named Mihirakula
who was chased out of main north india by a coalition of righteous kings settled down with his horde in kashmeer and sialkot region of todays pakistan. perhaps
its this regressive gene that drives the hell-spawn of that troubled land.

he and indeed his whole bloodline was noted for extreme cruelty and vandalism,
killing of monks, razing of monasteries, driving elephants over a cliff to enjoy their pained screams.

long before the turko-arab invaders came to our western frontier with the philosophy of total warfare/plunder/rape/killing infidels, the white huns had also practised that path.

in all other indic dynasties, such a form of warfare was abhorrent and civilians and farmers were generally left alone - only standing armies fought. that is why the depredations of the turko-arabs created such terror. close to 25,000 civilians were killed in somnath temple alone. the great cities of mathura and kanauj had their temples eradicated.

only the areas outside of the reach of these pillagers and scum managed to retain
their ancient and new monuments - Orissa, Vanga, khajuraho(abandoned after a while) and above all Tamil nadu - madurai and tanjore and many other places.

in the south where the pallavas(kanchi) and chalukya(badami) dynasties ran in parallel with many incursions and wars, many a time the victor who captured the
others capital just left his name inscribed on the main temple there.

none of the indian great dynasties guptas, mauryas, harsh vardhana, chalukyas, rajputs et al practised the kind of brutal close-controlled centralized 'mandate from heaven' kingship so popular in PRC.

Next dossier should mention LeT Chief Hafiz saeed as prostitute, that would atleast guarantee his arrest.

Pak to try brothel owners under Anti-Terrorism Act

LAHORE: Pakistani authorities have decided to prosecute brothel owners in Punjab's provincial capital under Anti-Terrorism Act as prostitution houses here have become dens for terrorists.

Muhammad Pervez Rathore, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) here said brothels in Lahore have become dens of terrorists.

"There is strong evidence of the premises being used by terrorists in some incidents," he was quoted as saying by the The Post newspaper today.

Presiding over a meeting at the police headquarters yesterday, Rathore ordered Divisional SPs, DSPs and SHOs to launch a crackdown on 445 prostitution houses and their owners under the Anti-Terrorism Act, the report in the Pakistani daily said.

He also directed them to raid motels, guesthouses and inns which served as safe havens for criminals.

Rathore said police in plain clothes had found beyond doubt that they were involved in crimes, including terrorism.

Lahore has been targeted by terrorists amid fears that brothels have been used for launching operations.

On October 15, Taliban militants unleashed a wave of terror as they stormed three security facilities in Lahore in near-simultaneous attacks.

From Nightwatch http://nightwatch.afcea.org/NightWatch_20091109.htm Kammandu shoots off his mouth again
Former President Musharraf said the country's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) influences contacts within every Islamist terrorist group in Pakistan for its "own advantage," adding that ISI's "ingresses" with militant groups make it effective, RTTNews reported 9 November, citing a Musharraf interview with CNN. Musharraf is in exile in London, but seems determined to stir up trouble in Pakistan. His career and his long term as president, however, lend prima facie credibility to his statements. If anyone knows about ISI’s capabilities, it would be Musharraf, over any of the players on the scene in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. In endorsing the capabilities of ISI, he provides leverage for greater US pressure on Islamabad to do more to suppress the terrorists.

The number 486 is very halal. It is a direct multiplier of.... you guessed it right: 3
486 = 162 x 3
= 2x 81 x 3
= 2 x (72+9) x 3
= 2 x (72+(3x3)) x3
= 2 x (24x3+3x3) x 3
= 2 x (8x3x3+3x3) x3

Many musharrafs there... I tell you, Mhaendra's power of 3 theorem is at work here.
There is a musharraf or two in 48 too.

Pakistan-China in $1.4 billion fighter jet deal

: China has agreed to sell Pakistan at least 36 advanced fighter jets in a landmark deal worth as much as $1.4bn, Pakistani and western officials said on Tuesday.

China will supply two squadrons of J-10 fighter planes in a preliminary agreement, which could lead to further sales in future, a Pakistani official said.

The official added that Pakistan might buy “larger numbers” of the planes in the future, but denied reports that Pakistan had agreed to buy 150 jets.

Experts describe the agreement as a “landmark” in Pak-China relations.
