Technical Information & Link Repository

Post by Raveen »

This thread was created for BR members to share valuable links. This thread will also serve as a repository for such informational links and can be used by other members in the discussion threads as source material. Please restrict discussion to discussion threads and links to this thread. It is not necessary to include an expansive write up with the links, but a short description of name, type, country of origin, etc. would be appropriate.
Since this thread is to serve it's purpose as a repository, please realize there might not be any continuity in successive posts (in contrast to the discussion threads).

As per BRAdmin instructions:

1. Restrict posting to things related to India.
- Use this thread to post links about anything technical related to the Indian armed forces.
- Weapon information, technical images of weapons, techincal information and articles are welcome here as long as the topic of discussion/link is relevant to the
Indian armed forces (Weapons either in service or soon to join service).

2. Also, spare the other threads for that kind of posts.
- Don't post links that are not conducive to ongoing discussion in the discussion threads.
- Discussion threads are meant for discussion; this is the thread meant to serve as a link and knowledgebase repository for those interested in such things.

Please follow the rules laid out by the BRAdmins (elaborated by me to the best of my abilities, open to being edited by the BRAdmins).
Thanks, enjoy!

Jai Hind!

thanks a lot raveen. good elaboration of the object of this thread.

@ baldev, this is primarily for your kind of posts. may I request you to tag(missile seeker, AGAT, AAM etc etc) and add an appropriate title and number ('cruise missiles-1' say ) to your posts here, so that it is easier to locate the info ?

also bunch info on similar systems in one post and do not mix them up.
TIA.

Each Antenna System Yatagan "had five antennas. Two small antennas implemented the so-called "rough" tip-off missiles at the target, one antenna to function as a transmitter operator commands,

The disadvantage of this radio command system - its single-channel, as well as the sharp decrease in firing accuracy with increasing distance to the target

launcher
http://rbase.new-factoria.ru/missile/wobb/m1/shema.htm
Original Equipment missile cellar - 15 combat and 1 training missile. Serial production of PU-101 mill was established at the plant "Barricades" in Volgograd.

After the PU-101 mill was set up dual installation ZIF-102. Principal difference between the new IP has been feeding conveyor-type missiles, instead of the drum. As a result of ammunition one PU increased from 16 to 32 missiles.

Full range of M-1 to PU ZIF-101 were armed with 20 ships pr.61, 61 M and 61 MPs (one for Poland), 4 ships pr.58; one pr.56K, 8 pr.56A and 5 ships, etc. 61ME (built for India). Complex M-1 to PU ZIF-102 were 4 ships, etc. 1134, three - project 56U, and eight - Project 57A.

this means each launcher has 16 missiles in RAJPUT clas ships

MOSS AEWACS

http://legion.wplus.net/guide/air/m/tu126-3.jpg
http://legion.wplus.net/guide/air/m/tu126-6.gif

After a detailed definition of the technical aspect of TU-126 and clarified its performance. According to the conceptual design, the maximum speed reached 825 km / h, cruising speed - 650-700 km / h, the practical range with refueling - 11000 miles

Selected for installation on the aircraft radar "Liana" at that time was considered as a wonder of technology. According to the data, it can detect aerial targets at ranges from 100 to 350 km (depending on their size) and sea targets such as the cruiser - at a distance of 400 km. On-board data communication equipment was supposed to transfer the information to command posts of Defense and Navy, located at a distance of up to 2000 km. To ensure all-round view, the antenna system radar "Liana" required to set above the fuselage on the pylon height of 2,6 m and rotated in the process of working with speed of 10 revolutions per minute. This led to great difficulties in establishing the aircraft. It was suggested that the two design-layout solutions radome-antenna system: rotating antenna inside the fixed fairing as set forth on the pylon, and an antenna that rotates along with the fairing on the same pylon. The latest idea put forward Based on the results of detailed work, he argued that the second option is easier and more straightforward in constructive terms. First Tupolev did not accept this proposal, and his argument was very compelling - where to get the bearing diameter of 1200 mm? Only after a sufficiently rapid exchange of views, the head of the OKB became an active supporter of this idea, and personally, using his enormous influence, "struck" in the government decision to manufacture superpodshipnika for Tu-126. Thus was the world's first aircraft AEW with a rotating mushroom fairing radar, which has become a real technical innovation borrowed later by the Americans.

SELEX Delivering Marte Mk2 Radar Seekers to UAE
Finmeccanica subsidiary SELEX Galileo recently announced [PDF] a EUR 26 million (about $38.7 million) contract for SM-1S radar seekers, as part of an MBDA contract for the provision of Marte MK2/N anti-ship missiles to “a Middle East customer.” The SM-1S integrates a new digital processor developed to enhance processing of the missile’s radar data, in order to improve detection and accuracy in environments that include near-shore’s high clutter levels.

The Marte Mk2/N anti-ship missile was introduced in 2006 as a naval variant of the helicopter-launched Mk2/S. The customer in this case is almost certainly the UAE, which became the Marte Mk2/N missile’s first customer when it contracted for 24 refit and new-build Ghannatha class 26.5 meter patrol boats at IDEX 2009. Some of these boats will carry the Mk2/N missile, while at least 6 will carry Patria’s 120mm Nemo automatic mortar turret instead, creating a flexible form of naval fire support that mirrors similar efforts in Finland

was looking for missiles..found something on Anti Tank Missiles.

http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_o ... 74e4a#sec3
Results showed that changes to ATGM performance from observed field damage are extremely sensitive to the location of damage. Vertical mid-body wing damage had little effect on performance while damage to horizontal and adjacent mid-body wings resulted in significant failures. The failure mode demonstrated was not a large increase in CEP but rather seeker failure due to excessive roll and yawing of the airframe. This highlights that the seeker and seeker gimbal performance are significant factors in an ATGM’s ability to tolerate field handling damage.

Hi sumshyam,

I can't contact you through private messages so I am putting a message here - What I meant was that I can't contact you because when I try to do so it says I am not allowed to.

I am also interested in building a UAV - a real, vtol micro-UAV along this line.

These are some of the links that I have been looking at:
http://mavionics.de/index.php?option=co ... lang=en_EN
http://www.jamartech.com/files/RAC_Plus_Brochure.pdf
http://www.microdrones.com
http://www.procerusuav.com/developer.php

Here is a website of a Karachi based company that develops UAV's: http://www.idaerospace.com/dvds.html
The name is obviously a rip-off of 'General Dynamics'. It seems to me that they have been buying toy planes and putting the telemetry control hardware in it to make the UAV's.

Some of the rough requirements that the Requirements specification document of the UAV would contain:
- The UAV should be able to perform a gps position hold.
- Their should be a collision avoidance mechanism in the UAV
- It should be able to orient itself against low speed cross winds.
- It should have a lost link mode in it.
- I should have a DDL(Digital Data Link )
- It should have a kill switch on it.
- It should be able to provide a video and audio feed

Feel free to contact me through my emal posted on my account page.

ADAC Mk 2 active missile seeker

ADAC Mk 2 was the latest known version of the active seeker that is used in the MBDA Missile Systems Exocet anti-shipping missile. As such, it is electronically and mechanically interchangeable with its predecessor (ADAC Mk 1) and incorporates enhanced electronic counter-countermeasures provision. Functionally, ADAC Mk 2 becomes live after a passive flight phase, carries out a target scan and initiates automatic tracking if an assigned or preprogrammed criteria matching target is detected. Having locked on to a target, ADAC Mk 2 then generates steering commands for its host missile. The final part of the attack profile is conducted at surface skimming altitudes

Ukrainians Present New AAM Seekers

The late-9/08 AviaSvit (Aviation World) exhibition, held in Kiev, Ukraine, served as the venue for Arsenal Design Bureau and Kiev Radar (KR), both based in Kiev, to showcase new seekers intended to upgrade the R-27 (AA-10) AAM. Arsenal displayed the MR-2000 IR seeker for R27T, while KR presented a new, modernized variant of the Agat 9B-1101K semi-active RH seeker. Potential customers for the new seekers include China and other nations that still operate older versions of the Su-27SK and MiG-29 fighters whose nose-mounted N001 and N019 radars have not been modernized to fire the RVV-AE (AA-12) active-homing AAM.
