Looks very much like the British Commandos in AFG. IIRC, there are pictures of them posted on this thread somewhere.

rohitvats and others:

Here's a pic of the MARCOS from Livefist : Link

Whats that badge on top of their left breast pocket? Its the same badge that the Para Cdo is sporting.

Does that mean he is on deputation from the MARCOS?

Never saw a pic of Indian field gun till now. Thanks Narayana.

I wish drdo works on improving the tech and developing a 155mm howitzer that suits our needs.

Optical illusion?
and also the Tavor comes in 3 different barrel lengths in the 5.56 configuration.

The point I believe is that those men on the "Malkhamb" have a Madras regiment insignia in front of them. Unless I am mistaken, malkhamb is a Maratha Light Infantry regiment speciality.

On the latter point I must point out that I am merely the armchair-marshal of global air forces so I might be mistaken

I was there at the Army Day parade.

The Marathas were doing the Malkhamb. There were 4 teams from what I remember, across 4 locations, at 25-30 meters from each other.

The plaques were for various regiments spread acorss the entire stretch so they did not designate the guys doing the Malkhamb.

Best regards.

This map displayed at the Republic Day dress rehearsal does not display all of the NorthEast. Arunachal and parts of Assam, Manipur are missing.

If you can put a keen observation at the point of the canister end and the top dome bottom, its clamped. means the dome like structure is just a top cover which will open when launching shourya.

I doubt it. To be able to open it needs to be hinged and not clamped. Besides the Shaurya has a blunt nose. I believe that is just a dummy structure fixed on top to give people an idea that it contains a missile inside it.

:-? the hinge is onto the canister tubed terminating end( that thick cylindrical ring )
No one cares if there is a missile inside or not :P As long as shourya was printed on the canister and the commentator reads it as a canister launched missile to the folks present at the parade :D

What I meant is, if the missile itself does not stick out of the canister, there is no need for a long camouflaged cover on it (especially since the rest of the vehicle is gray!). So it looks more like something put on later. But I agree that as long as people get the right idea, thats more than enough.

That is a dummy missile. Only the part that is coming out of the cannister is there. There is no missile within the cannister.

I have seen the Brahmos missile trucks of the R day parade parked around India gate. The missiles which project out of the cannister are dummies. All the missiles - the Agni 2s and the 3s and the Dhanush have been dummies for the parade. I have seen them up close. No engines / machinery inside. Only the body (which is original).

Here is the Brahmos: I took this picture before the 2007 R day parade.

Would this be allowed if this was a real missile?

Hi friends
here is my new set of wallpapers, on eve of Republic day!
I made it a different day today, unlike usual holidays.
No treks, no picnics, no shopping, no movies, no chitchat.
I made these so that we, my friends can have the real heroes on our desktops instead of bolywood stars or models or cars.
Let it be those who keep our borders safe, day and night...
Let it be those who who fight for us...
Let it be those who gave their lives while we are celebrating Republic day today.
Let it be the Real Heroes.
