Suspect, U.S. Citizen for a Year, Traveled Often to Pakistan
According to federal law enforcement officials, Mr. Shahzad entered the United States on an F-1 student visa in January 1999. At that time, one official said, the authorities ran a criminal background check but found no derogatory information.
The documents also included a copy of what was apparently an old Pakistani passport — it expired in February 2000 and listed Mr. Shahzad’s occupation as “student” — and a United States student visa that expired at the end of 2002.

On university documents Mr. Shahzad appears to have filled out and signed, he lists his birthplace as Karachi, but a senior Pakistani official said on Tuesday that he was born in Kashmir, a politically unstable area.

In January 2002, the authorities said, Mr. Shahzad got an H1-B visa for skilled workers. Mr. Shahzad married an American citizen named Huma Mian, and was granted a green card in January 2006. He was naturalized in a ceremony in Bridgeport on April 17 of last year before a federal magistrate, Holly B. Fitzsimmons, probably with dozens of others.

According to one official account, a couple of months later, on June 2, 2009, Mr. Shahzad left the United States on Emirates Flight 204 bound for Dubai. He returned eight months later, on Feb. 3, 2010, arriving on an Emirates flight from Dubai. But another official account said he left the United States for Pakistan in April 2009 and returned in August.

In September 2009, Mr. Shahzad was sent a letter notifying him that he was being sued over a $218,400 loan from a mortgage arm of Chase bank. The mortgage covered the single-family home with an assessed value of $242,690 on Long Hill Avenue in Shelton. The bank took Mr. Shahzad and his wife, Ms. Mian, to court. One or both appeared before the court last fall and filed affidavits about their debts that were entered in the court record as recently as last month.

Yaaawn ........................

CNN:
• Attorney general: Suspect admits involvement
• Faisal Shahzad worked as financial analyst
• Source: Says he trained at Pakistan camp
• Source: Dad is former Pakistani military official
• Pakistan raid linked to Times Square bomb
CNN needs to keep a copy of this, so that they can paste it in the future.

After he got his green card he got his citizenship in remarkably short time. You need to wait 3 years after you get GC if you are married to an american. It appears he did not lose any time applying for citizenship!

Charges filed against Times Square car bombing suspect (CNN)
Emirates Airlines said the suspect bought his ticket with cash at the airport counter, and the staff, considering that unusual, immediately informed airport security officials.
Honorary memberhip on the Yankee (Hell)No-Fly list + on the spot cash payment for a Porkistan ticket = Code Red/Defcon 3 at every US airport.

I won't say they have gotten away with it, they have paid the price by being in the situation they are in. They are a FAILED TERRORIST STATE.

Not to mention that their Karma has bitten them in their Musharraf post 26/11 so many times.

It seems to me that the vast data base of info, they pulled up every Paki in CT area and by careful elimination based on other clues zeroed in on this guy. Apparently, he was being tracked since Sunday.

My point being that unlike in India where national security is a joke, and "secularims" trumps in US its a big deal, but it would trouble me if govt were slimily tracking people of a particular race or looks etc.
Well owner of the car had emails from the Paki and I think they tracked that.

I have no problem with people of a certain race being tracked. If you're not doing anything wrong, it should be fine. Personally I doubt they are tracking, but I certainly do hope they do.

Guys:

I am not the admin, but lots of duplicate news items being posted. Waste of bandwidth and clutters the board. Lets keep track of the latest developments related to this Paki pig and his handlers in TSP.

I have a few additional questions; I don't believe they have been posted:

1) This pig apparently left USA sometime April 2009 and came back in Feb 2010. Now this puke had a home in CT. Was it on mortgage? rent? If so, how did he get funds to pay for that?
2) After he came back, was he working?
3) Where did he get the $s to buy that car, and also ticket to flee, and other miscellaneous $s?

Basically, whats the financial trail?

Is the guy really dumb, or is it part of his "disturbed" cover?
The naturalized U.S. citizen was also implicated by a set of keys left inside the lethal SUV Pathfinder parked on W. 45th St., the complaint said.

One key was to the suspect's second car, and another to his Connecticut home - where Shahzad had access to a rear garage apparently used to make the bomb, the complaint said.

Further, if Murdoch-media is to be relied on, there are likely more arrests to be made.
A source told the Daily News at least three other people were involved in buying the bomb materials found in the SUV Pathfinder.
Three more disturbed people?

Faisal got his citizenship in April 2009 and left for Pakistan in June-2009. His relatives who lived nearby had already lost a house to foreclosure and allegedly moved to Missouri. Faisal also lost his house to foreclosure and was sued by Chase bank for approx. $207,000.
CRamS wrote:2) After he came back, was he working?
He claimed to be working on Wall Street as a Financial Analyst. Of course, the reality is that he was on ISI's local maulana's payroll.
CRamS wrote:3) Where did he get the $s to buy that car, and also ticket to flee, and other miscellaneous $s?
He paid for the car and ticket in cash. M-88 firecrackers must have been purchased either around New Year's Eve and/or Chinese New Year (Feb-14) to avoid suspicion. Gun rack must have been purchased again via Craigslist and paid for in cash. Fertilizer must have been purchased in cash in small increments by multiple accomplices from different towns.

All money came from ISI budget for "Enhancement of Pakistani IT Exports" where IT = International Terrorism.
CRamS wrote:Basically, whats the financial trail?
Uncle Sam paid Pak Army which paid ISI which paid "Miscreants" which paid a local maulana in NY/NJ which paid Faisal.

Boy, that's one dumbass paki. Of-course, that phrase is redundant. To paraphrase Forrest Gump:
Stupid is as paki does :rotfl:

Paki is as stupid does
Al-qaeda types must be scratching the bottom of the barrel now, if this is the calibre of "human resources" they have to draw on. First that dumbass Nigerian, and now this dumbass Paki. And to top off the mijjile, this paki comes from a martial, fauji family. :rotfl: No wonder Arabs look down on paquis!

On another forum someone said that the movie on this fiasco will have the money shot of the look on this guy's face, and his two buddies, when the plane is recalled to the gate. Oh shi&^%! But since it's a plane to Doob-gaya, there are 30 other mofos there who are relieved that they weren't caught! AoA! :rotfl:

Shahzad is said to hail from a village near Pabbi called Mohib Banda (see box). Locals in Pabbi say that Shahzad’s family shifted to Peshawar some 20 years ago.

Shahzad is thought to have pursued graduation studies from the Pakistan Air Force Government Degree College in Peshawar before leaving for the US to pursue business studies.

any other source of Preet Bharara vs pakis squaring off in US? All google shows the is TOI article. Not gungho about TOI seeing smoke where there is no fire. What I gather is Mr Bharara is a competent person and he is doing what he does best. Period. He would have done the same irrespective of the nationality.

Indians instrumental in bringing 'justice' to Aafia
The US government has reportedly used Indians with malafide intentions and prejudice against Pakistan in order to bring Dr Aafia Siddiqui to ‘justice’.
The same man who had a history of hatred against Pakistanis was none other than Preet Bharara, who holds the powerful position of US Federal Attorney of New York now.

Kashmir at backchannel
Sham Sham Ahmak
http://thenews.jang.com.pk/daily_detail.asp?id=237487
In April 2007, addressing the third roundtable conference on Kashmir in Delhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had dismissed repeated "wishful" claims in Islamabad that India and Pakistan were nearing an agreement on Kashmir, or even Siachen. "Some public statements in this regard (the Kashmir issue) emanating from Pakistan do not give the correct picture," he said. The confusion over the "backchannel" outcome arises only because the whole matter was personally handled by Gen Musharraf, who had deputed his friend and confidant Tariq Aziz, a man of exceptional skills in wheeling and dealing, to negotiate the destiny of the Kashmiri people. On the other hand, the Indian side was represented at the "backchannel" by Satinder Lambah, a seasoned diplomat who served his country with distinction and whose quiet negotiating skills had earned him respect not only by successive governments in India but also in countries where he served as ambassador, including Pakistan. He was chosen by Manmohan Singh's government to serve as special envoy in the Prime Minister's Office, in which capacity he became India's point man on Kashmir.
The day after Lambah presented his credentials in Islamabad as high commissioner, then-prime minister Nawaz Sharif hosted a lunch for him, in a marked departure from usual Pakistani practice. When Lambah's tenure ended three years later, Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto did him the same honour. If a Kashmir settlement was only a signature away, the credit must go to Lambah. Without any compromise on his country's position, he swayed Pakistan's Kashmir stance which had been a constant of its foreign policy in the context of an unwavering commitment to the cardinal principle of self-determination enshrined in the UN Charter. Tariq Aziz or his boss had no idea what they were doing to their country. No government in Pakistan, elected or unelected, ever deviated from this fundamental policy, which was rooted in the UN Security Council resolutions adopted on the question of Kashmir. Gen Musharraf's backchannel produced negative effects on Pakistan's known position, and he started speaking of options for a Kashmir settlement beyond UN resolutions. At the end of the day, where are these two "backchannel" pioneers? India's Satinder Lambah is still serving his country's interests, and Tariq Aziz has vanished like his friend and boss to places where they have enough wealth to sustain them. The Kashmiri people have every reason to protest to Pakistan for putting their destiny in the hands of wheelers and dealers who played havoc with their own state.
Those were difficult days for Gen Musharraf who, after staging the Kargil debacle and overthrowing an elected government in Pakistan, was struggling for legitimacy and acceptability of his military rule. The September 11 attacks gave him an opportunity to gain relevance in the ensuing "war on terror," and he did everything to avail himself of that opportunity. As Gen Musharraf wrote in his book In the Line of Fire, 9/11 "came as a thunderbolt" that presented to him acute challenges as well as opportunities

Daddy's on the run ....
Pakistan questions at least 7 about New York bomb plot
Shahzad's father, Baharul Haq, a former senior Air Force officer, lives in an upscale suburb of Peshawar, according to security officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue. Said to be a retired Air Vice Marshall, Haq hurriedly left the large family home in the Hayatabad suburb Tuesday, along with the rest of the family, when Pakistani media found the house.
In Karachi, the key detainee appeared to be Tausif Ahmed, said to be a childhood friend and neighbor of Shahzad. Shahzad is thought to have spent his formative years in the middle class neighborhood of North Nazimabad, an area that's comfortable but not known as a district for Karachi's elite. Unlike some areas of Karachi, however, North Nazimabad isn't known for extremist links.

Ahmed was said to have traveled at least once to the U.S. to visit Shahzad. Ahmed's father-in-law, Ifitkhar Hussain, also was taken into custody.

"At this stage, people are just being rounded up. Anyone who knew him," said one senior Pakistani official, who wasn't authorized to speak publicly on the issue and couldn't be named. "We're chasing everything down."

Pakistani intelligence agencies are working closely with the FBI on the investigation.

Pakistan's interior minister, Rehman Malik, told reporters in Islamabad that Shahzad's family was originally from a village in Pabbi district, a few miles outside Peshawar.

"Naturally, we will cooperate fully with the United States," Malik said.

According to one security official, Shahzad has a brother and other family in Canada.

Correct sir. But my objection was only to the American half your identity mocking the lack of strength of the people who have only one Indian identity. It hurts to hear Indian Americans gushingly praise "their police" as you did the NYPD's efficiency while you use your extraordinary ability to express yourself to come down against a predominantly weak nation while praising the strength of a powerful nation whose domination over India is only a little less than its domination over Pakistan. Many Indians feel better and more capable after becoming American and choose to mock India and Indians and you sound like the dozens I have met over the years.

Shezad too is a man with a half Paki half American identity. It is because he allowed his Paki identity to work overtime that he got himself into this mess. It is ironic that in the very post that you gushed about the country you adopted, you also squeaked a little fear that your Indian identity may cause you to be targeted. This is how America compels people with half idenities to be American and to fear to be anything else. In that sense Shezad has been "patriot". When we are in the business of praising everyone but Indians lets show a semblance of fairness. No?

Here is your other post sir

"Normal" paklurks come here and finding that their H&D is utterly fictitious, utterly unsupported by reality, and that we will not politely pretend that it exists, turn into morose creatures like Faisal Shahzad, whose response to life it to try to blow up other people.

Unlike Kasab case, TSP could not obviously slither out by claiming that guy is not a Pakistani pig because of his clear passport, green card background. So like aging Kollywood babes announcing that 'I will only take up family oriented roles', TSP is making virtue of necessity announcing 'they will cooperate with probe' instead of trying gymnastics. It also matters that Unkil can bomb them back to stone age.

Is it a surprise that a TSPA top brass brings up his own son as fanatic barbarian terrorist? It shows what TSPA truly is - a jehadi army of fanatic barbarian pigs. And Unkil is arming them...we should flood Unkil with emails /campaigns. It is a shame some 'unidentified' GOI official goes to press underlining this nexus between TSPA and terrorism with some sarcastic remark

Mocking may be fine as an "opinion" or "freedom of expression". But that same freedom applies to me to state what I think - especially if a strawman is set up to make the act of mocking more effective. Here is the gist of what I read and it still irritates me:

"The US is doing well to bribe Pakistan and if you are powerful you must bribe from a position of strength, it will work. But look at India. Genuflecting to Gilani as the US demands. Makes me wanna puke."

Bribing Pakistan is actually a good and positive thing if the US does it. India needs to be like the US and bribe from a position of strength, so good is that situation of being in a position of strength. "Become like USA" is the advice I have heard from 1970 when my cousins first started coming home from the US on summer holiday during the monsoon. I know. I know how good it is to be Indian when convenient and be American when convenient. It is only when the dual convenience is unavailable that the perspective changes.
