It was only a matter of time before the Paki started blaming India, USA, and Israel for the floods.
Even though in their hearts the Pakistanis fully well know that the 2005 earthquake, and now the 2010 floods are nothing but Allah's retribution against them for exporting terrorism to kill innocent people in India and around the world.

EXcpts:
During the last fortnight, many Canadian friends have expressed sorrow and sympathy for the victims of Pakistan’s devastating floods. Some have asked how they could help. Almost invariably, they have commented on the bad luck Pakistan has been having continuously. As I am the only Pakistani most of them have ever met socially, I found their concern very touching. The media here has been full of stories of the millions displaced by the rising waters across Pakistan. Unfortunately, many of these stories have also highlighted the incompetence of the government in dealing with the crisis. Granted, nobody could have anticipated or planned for the magnitude of the disaster, but we have had more than our share of natural catastrophes, so our bureaucracy should have been able to respond more effectively.
Above all, people here have been highly critical of the Pakistani president’s bizarre decision to continue his trip to France and the UK, given the scale of the tragedy back home. Zardari’s claim that his visits to Paris and London gave him the opportunity to raise funds there is met with the same derision it met in Pakistan. Had he cancelled his visit, he would have conveyed the urgency of the need for assistance more effectively than he did by flying to his chateau in France, or addressing a PPP rally in Birmingham.
Newspapers and TV commentators abroad have seized upon this apparent callousness as a further example of the increasingly dysfunctional nature of the Pakistani state. When Moscow was engulfed by smoke from surrounding forest-fires, President Dmitry Medvedev cut short his vacation to take charge. There is no sense here that President Zardari is in any way in charge of the response to the floods.
People have asked me why the Pakistan government has not immediately accepted the Indian offer of five million dollars. Instead, we are told the government is “thinking about it”. What’s there to think about? Surely in a crisis like this, money is money, whatever its source. It would be highly irresponsible to play politics or score points at this juncture. And how can the government ask the international community for help when it picks and chooses which country it will accept money from?
A friend who works in the US State Department was here on a brief vacation, and commented sadly on the steady deterioration apparent in Pakistan. This has been a constant refrain from journalists as well as foreign friends who have visited the country. But we in Pakistan are in permanent denial mode. We insist that somehow, the infamous ‘foreign hand’ is to blame for all our problems. Indeed, I have recently received an email with reference to a scientific breakthrough with the acronym of HAARP that is supposed to allow people to alter the weather pattern. The theory that was posted with details about this technology blamed villainous foreigners of causing the unprecedented downpour that triggered the floods.
When we blame outsiders for all our ills, there is little or no incentive to fix our problems. From the rise of extremist terror groups to the state of our economy, we look for the cause and the solution outside our borders. Thus, instead of arresting the slide, we lurch from one crisis to another. Meanwhile, friends and foes alike look on in bemused horror.

Militants kill two in Peshawar
Dozens of armed Pakistani militants attacked a mosque and a police checkpoint in the northwestern city of Peshawar, killing two anti-Taliban fighters, police said on Wednesday.
In the first attack, 10 militants from Lashkar-e-Islam (Army of Islam) raided a mosque on Tuesday in Adezai village, on the outskirts of Peshawar, killing two militia men while they were praying.
An hour later, about 100 insurgents from the Army of Islam fired on a police post in Sarband village, on the western edge of Peshawar, leading to a 40-minute gunfight, but no injuries.

Islamist militants attacked police posts in Pakistan's northwest and killed two civilians active in an anti-Taliban militia, challenging a security establishment straining under a national flooding disaster, police said Wednesday.
A group of militants first killed two members of a militia in the Adezai area of Peshawar as they headed to pray at a mosque late Tuesday, said Liaqat Ali Khan, Peshawar police chief.

New Indian cotton policy may benefit Pakistan
Free exports will benefit flood ravaged Pakistan, which lost a large crop that fuels its export earning textile industry, trade and analysts said. Trade says Pakistan will import about three million bales (of 170 kg each) more of cotton after floods from average import of 1.5-2 million bales. "If it's free now, Pakistan will seek most of its cotton imports from us but China still will be the major buyer," said a senior official with Sekhsaria and Co, a Mumbai-based exporter.

The path the founding father of Pakistan took was to play one global player against another and reap benefits from the fight! But 60 years on, it has become a old trick and people have learnt their lessons ! Plus strategic shifts and advent of sophisticated weapons have led to Af-Pak loosing its importance.
Even the "leader of the ummah" thing has not worked : evident from the aid sum OIC pledged.
There you go! A moral, strategic , diplomatic and cultural vacuum is what Pakistan is staring at now! And boy it is going to be lonely! The only solace for you Pakis: Vacuum bursts providing entertainment. And no one outside Pakistan is even bothering to cover them for more than a few minutes.

IIRC there was an article in Time (1971) where author was trying to console Baki's that separation of Bangladesh was actually good for Bakistani economy. Bakistan no logel have to worry about very poor uneducated SDRE types. Specificly mentioning that Bangladesh was prone to foods and every year one has to restart life again by making new huts. Secondly all Bakistani drama's of '90s (budha ghar pe hei or bakra kiston pee) insulted Bangladeshes as being lesser human beings. I remmember teasing a Bangladeshi as "how you came to Bakistan..........washed up by flood" and audience will laugh. So what they have to say now?

This speaks volumes for the humanity of some Pakis, the equivalent to stealing from a blind man.Anarchy seems to be prevailing and I seriously wonder what authority the already weakened Paki army-after the Red Mosque affair, etc.,will have once the crisis eases.
PS:Has there been any study of what Paki military bases, airfields, etc, have been affected by the floods? The Russians admitted that theri secret nuclear centre was in grave danger from their forest fires.
PPS:Hari, the looters were making merry with those Paki who were being evacuated before the flood aters reached their dwellings/villages,hence they were refusing to leave in many instances.
Philip, Our member Krisna annotated a flood map of TSP with the military facilities potentially affected.
I posted it in the BR Reference thread in GDF:
http://forums.bharat-rakshak.com/viewto ... 48#p921848
Also note that Sukkur Barrage canals were breached to protect Jacobabad airfield.
I am serious when I say India should expect a stream of flood refugees in a couple of months. Most likely the early ones will be the minorities: Hindus, Ahmedias, Sindhis and Pathans. Most likely entrance point will be Rajasthan.

Since last year (and off and on before that), Pakistan has been buying Indian cotton. The cotton prices have been ruling high lately. In fact, one of the complaints by Pakistan was that Indian exporters were cancelling their Pakistani contracts and not committing to them.Indian exporters found a more attractive market in China since China has also been in acute shortage of raw cotton. Anyway, because of monsoon fears, India recently clamped export of cotton and now that we expect a bumper harvest once again, the controls have been relaxed. OTOH, Pakistan suffers perennially from poor harvest (BT Cotton has made Indian cotton pest resistant which is not the case with Pakistan which has been losing a significant crop size to pests), a situation now exacerbated multiple times. For the next few years, I expect Pakistan to depend critically on Indian cotton if it does not want to lose its cotton-related products' share in world markets. Otherwise, it will be a double whammy.Brad Goodman wrote:any kammets?

PS This gives a wonderful opportunity for Pakistan to threaten world community that they should force India to give it cotton at cheap price as otherwise many Pakistanis will be forced to become terrorists on account of loss of livelihood.

India-imported potatoes to be auctioned today
LAHORE: Pakistan has started to import potatoes from India to cater for the domestic needs in the wake of anticipated fear of acute shortage of potato crop in the country as the large quantity of crop has been devastated by the recent flash flood.
This potato would be auctioned in Lahore’s vegetable market today.
The first consignment of Indian potatoes, comprising of 20 to 25 trucks, arrived on Monday at Wahga border in Pakistan's eastern city of Lahore.
Pakistan's northwestern province Kyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is traditionally considered as a major source of red potatoes during July and August, but this year's record-breaking floods have ruined the entire crop, giving rise to apprehension of shortage of potatoes in coming days.
"In order to curb the rising price trend of potatoes, Indian potatoes have started reaching the country and Monday's consignment was the first of the series of such import as other large imported quantities are on its way and likely to reach during the current week," said Haji Shahjahan, President Wholesale Vegetable Welfare Association.
Potato prices have already started surging in the wholesale and retail markets of the country, its 100-kg sack price soared to Rs4500, Shahjahan said adding at 40,000 50-kg sacks have been imported through Wahga border thus far.
He said the nationwide supply of the potatoes would be started after today’s bid, adding an Indian purchases potatoes at Rs5 to 6/kg.
The import is likely to help stabilize potato prices in the country's markets, thus easing out financial pressure on consumers already groaning under the impact of rampant inflation of essential commodities.
Similarly, prices for the majority of vegetables also surged in the domestic market during the last one week mainly due to the devastation of the crops by the flood in major vegetable producing areas of the provinces of Sindh, KP, Punjab and Balochistan.
Prices of the vegetables like spinach, bitter goud, potatoes and others have surged by 200 percent to 300 percent.
Pakistani Muslims are observing the holy month of Ramadan during which the food demand is usually going up by three to four times.

I am not sure if India had anything to do with the water in Pak, but I think we should use that as a lever. Anytime there is an attack, there should be floods a few months later. They use their 'soft power', we use ours.
That's how dominant powers behave. This should be our deterrent. We currently use carrots and too less stick.

ISI and Talibunnies are so infamous that it affects anyone with similar names.

No Taliban link for city-based ISI consultants
Updated 58 minutes ago
A local consulting firm has been fielding worried calls about a supposed link to the Taliban -all because of three letters.
Industrial Systems Integration (ISI), which provides consulting services involving instrumentation, is not tied in any way to the Taliban, or Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency, company representative Dean Hotton assured on Tuesday.
The unfortunate coincidence between the two acronyms has caused a few headaches for the local firm.
The company, which has offices in Brockville, Ottawa and Montreal, is one of the subcontractors working on Brockville's large sewage treatment plant upgrade, said Hotton.
He noted that a recent international wire story, carried by QMI Agency, bore the headline: "Report says ISI has ties to Afghan Taliban."
Some people familiar with the local company, Hotton suspects, read only the headline and did not realize that the story refers not to his company, but the Pakistani agency.
