US playing dirty with China and neighbours?

Han said US has been pointing a finger at China, directly or indirectly, over the past several months, especially over issues involving China's relations with its neighbours.

"The devastating floods in Pakistan have given it another opportunity to prod China," Han said in an apparent reference to US special envoy Richard Holbrooke's remarks that China should step up its assistance.

"Despite suffering severely from floods and landslides at home, China was one of the first countries to respond to the devastation in Pakistan. Yet Washington, on a few occasions, has expressed dissatisfaction with Beijing's contribution," he wrote in an article in China Daily.

Continuing on the sorid match fixing saga, Pukes years of effort in investing in the South Asian moniker is finally paying off.

See what their envoy says

"The British press says Asian but if they were from Pakistan they (British media) would have called Pakistanis, which means some Indian bookies were involved in it. This Majeed allegedly defrauded these Indian bookies and so the newspaper investigated this sort of sting operation through their sources here," he told NDTV.
What @#%@ logic! Sheesh! I hope this gladdens the hearts of Resident South Asians in India.

Cross-posted in the "managing Pak" thread.

The incomprehensible brazen attitude of Pakis when faced with wrongdoing,to try and shift the blame elsewhere (as we're seeing so outrageously in the cricket scam with their HC blaming India and their media blaming RAW of all people!),is that to the Paki elite,Pakistan is the centre of the world. It is Pakistan founded upon Islam ,created by providence through Jinnah, which is spiritually, physically, heroically, scientifically, mystically (djinn power),militarily (the "one Paki soldier equal to 10 Hindoos " syndrome),the formost nation on the planet, where all other states have to bend to its will.No matter what mischief and chicanery it is upto, what falsehoods and untruth it spouts,Pakis insist that it is their divine right to do so,ordained by the Almighty and that the Pakis are the "chosen people" of the Islamic world to carry out heaven's divine mission.

Thus the "Crusaders and Infidels" must support it as penance for their heresy! As for the other Islamic nations, barring Saudi Arabia, where the royals are the "keepers of the two holy placs",even here the Pakis protect the Saudis who therefore must bankroll them, while the rest of the Islamist pack must acknowledge Pak as "leader/fuhrer" by divine right.Hence the demands of Pak since Partition that India must hand over J&K without a fight, across the table;that Afghanistan must be handed over as Pak's "strategic depth" (forget about what thier Islamic brethen, the Afghans think about this!),and that the US must pressurise India into doing so for absolution for all its sins against Muslims. As the Messiah of the Muslim world, nations and capitalist institutions must pay tribute to Pak and bearing gifts of aid and weaponry. If even China can pay such tribute to Pak even bearing nuclear weapons and missiles,it only shows Pak's great status in the comity of nations!

The Paki elite imagine themselves as being a combination of the Pharaohs of ancient Egypt, the Moghul rulers of the subcontinent and as the present day Caliphate of the Ummah, successors to the last Caliphate of the Ottoman dynasty. With this divine sanction,Pakis can do no wrong,"the untouchables", and the world must let it be so and come to its aid whenever it is in crisis.for the duty of infidels and latter day crusaders is to serve Pak and "manage its mismanagement"!

^^ Am loving the way the Pakis are brazenly cocking a snook at the entire world in the match fixing saga ( usually was reserved for India while the rest of the world saw the Taqiaya face)....

The entire world will get to see this Pakistaniyat and will be wiser on how to deal with these turds. More power to the Pakis and their "strategic brilliance"...

IT gurus,

How bout creating a database in BRF? With a record for each Pakbaric internal purification ritual (aka terrorist attack)...sortable columns should include GPS location, pure (Sunni, LET, TTP, TSPA etc) , impure (Ahmedi, Shia, TSPA, random), pure casualty, impure casualty and so on...we can then plot it on google maps or analyse it to see emerging patterns

Such Gup from TFT
Signs of the times

An ad hasn’t appeared in the papers but rumour has it that the managing directorship of yet another state-owned corporation is for sale and Gill on the Hill is awaiting bids. The price this time has been set at Rs 40 crore, they say, with a free hand to milk the corporation but with no fixed tenure. We hear negotiations have stalled because of this highly inconvenient clause and bidders are trying to get a fixed tenure job. Isloo wags are also saying that the lady who Speaks for us all in parliament has been trying desperately to raise funds for flood victims but that her coffers are empty. Even her own party MNAs and parliamentary staff have apparently ignored her appeal. Meanwhile, two mins with unsavoury reputations are said to be busy shredding and removing papers from their offices lest the boots march in. These are all signs of the times.

Another telethon

Our mole reports that Mush is all set to do a TV telethon to raise funds for Pakistan’s flood victims with Angelina Jolie, Larry King, Oprah Winfrey, Henry Kissinger and Bill Clinton. It’s said the great event will take place within a week or so.

The only enemy that Pakroaches can agree upon is India and the cowardly Pakistan army stays out of all fights saying they are India focused. That gives them immunity from bringing any order to Pakistan but also gets them the most funds. What a pestilence upon humanity has been released on the world - ironically from India.

Nuggets from TFT
Islami schools swell in America

Reported in the periodical of a UN-banned organisation Jarrar. the Muslims living in America were opening Islamic schools to train their children properly in the way of Islam. The Muslims had begun opening these schools in response to the American policy of making life difficult (arsa-e-hayat tang) for them. But some extremists in America are accusing these schools of inculcating extremism and jihad among Muslim children.
Polygamy promoted in Saudi Arabia

Reported in Jarrar the Saudi government was offering incentives to men to take multiple wives  in Saudi Arabia so that the number of unmarried women could be brought down in the kingdom. The campaign’s slogan is ‘we want four’ and is based on the claim that men are physically capable of marrying more than one wife. Nothing was said about the physical capability of women.
Kashmir Centre an ISI refuge?

Writing in Aajkal Mujahid Hussain stated that a Kashmir Centre operating in Brussels has been called as an ISI organisation by a local newspaper named Le Soir. The Centre has had no effect in Europe because no parliament there has discussed Kashmir. The centre is run by a Kashmiri from the Indian-administered Kashmir, but his contacts are mostly Pakistani officials from Pakistan.
Pameela Khan warns

Quoted in Nawa-e-Waqt astro-palmist Pameela Khan announced in Lahore that that India was about to start a cunning plan (gehri chaal) against Pakistan. She warned that 7 June eclipse was not good for Nawaz Sharif and he should quit friendly opposition and come out openly to fight. The stars she said were pointing to a revolution in Pakistan. Imran Khan would win a significant victory under Mars (Mireekh), the God of War.
‘Muslims in India are better off’

Quoted in Express, leader of Jamiat Ulema Hind, Maulana Mehmood Ahmad Madni, spoke from India saying the two-nation theory was wrong and the division of India was actually a division of the Muslims living in India. He said his father Hussain Ahmad Madni was right in opposing Jinnah because today the Muslims living in India are better off than Muslims living in Pakistan. He said Muslims had prospered living with other nations and more non-Muslims had embraced Islam because of that. He said today India was the best place for the Muslims to live although, there was some discrimination against them in jobs. He said his life was being threatened from elements in Pakistan but he believed that ‘liberating’ Kashmir would be unfair to the Muslims living in Jammu and Ladakh as minorities.
Weddings threatened by Punjabi Taliban

Daily Waqt reported that weddings were being threatened by the local terrorists in various towns of Punjab, especially if they featured women dancing during the weddings. SMS warnings received against this traditional ritual during weddings have caused a lost of concern in Gulshan Ravi and Muslim Town in Lahore.
Justice Siddiqi at Jamia Al Rashid

Militant weekly newspaper Zarb-e-Momin reported that Mr Saeeduzzaman Siddiqi, a former chief justice of the Supreme Court, visited Jamia Al Rashid (University) in Karachi and praised it as an exemplary institution and recommended that the government make it possible the teaching of religion in its educational institutions. Al Rashid Trust and its branches and publications are considered militant and some countries have banned it in their territories. Al Rashid Trust publishes six militant publications.
RAW did Lal Masjid! :rotfl:

Quoted in Jinnah Mianwali’s PMLQ leader Sher Afgan Khan Niazi stated that Nawaz Sharif leaked the secrets of Kargil War to India’s prime minister Vajpayee after which Vajpayee went to President Clinton and cried, :rotfl: :rotfl: which was followed by Clinton asking Nawaz Sharif to call off the Kargil war. Niazi also said that the Lal Masjid incident was the doing of RAW agency of India.

Shiv,

Befor ducking for cover. :P

The way your post is worded, some idiot may take it as if you are blaiming India. It must be noted that India has nothing to do with the monstrocity called TSP after 1947.

It is there own achivement.. So, I propose that you add the words, "through the unified efforts to the UQ and their puppet M A Jinnah. The pork eating whisky guzzling moderate and enlightened Quaid A Azam." to your above post.

Pak sees a 'conspiracy' as 3 more held in UK

Till now I was thinking only expat and RAPE pakis were addicted to conspiracy theories. And people like Zaid Hamid were delibrately planted by ISI and TSPA to add fuel to the fire. But looks like they themselves have started consuming the drugs they are distributing to masses. If this paki ambassador to UK can meet these three thugs for 30 min and then figure out that they were innocent and it was Indian bookies who conspired aganist beloved paki players at RAW's behest then this guy is one one man army comprised of scotland yard, MI6 & MI5 combined and that too mighty efficient.

Pakis have completely cut themselves off from truth and rational thinking. I guess this is good news for us since this is the first step before destruction.

Well, the claim is that the sting video was made after the event, so e.g., no one actually predicted when no-balls would be bowled; they observed when they were bowled and then incorporated in the video.

Conspiracy proven say Pakis, whose great diplomutts question the timing of the video. This is so asinine. Why would any punter give 150,000 punds to a "fixer" after the balls were bowled!!! Perhaps only a Paki would do so and somehow "fix" his winnings by any means,terror,blackmail,etc..

The government of Pakistan has been accused of hijacking relief efforts for political ends after it unveiled plans to name new towns built for flood victims "Benazirabad", after the country's former Prime Minister, Benazir Bhutto.

The proposal was discussed at a meeting of the Pakistan People's Party chaired by President Asif Ali Zardari, husband of the assassinated leader.
However, opposition politicians condemned the idea as an attempt to exploit reconstruction work to raise support for the governing party.

Siddiq-ul-Farooq, a spokesman for the PML-N opposition party, said: "It's a national catastrophe so an apolitical approach is needed. President Zardari should rise above political considerations and should not be using political personalities' names for political gain."

Eight million people are still in desperate need of help, more than a month after torrential monsoon rains swept away roads, bridges and a million homes.

Much of the southern province of Sindh remains under water.

However, relief efforts have been hit by a sluggish response from donors – amid fears that cash may be misused.

The military head of the country's disaster response unit has reported receiving phone calls from prominent politicians demanding aid be delivered to their constituencies or asking for helicopters to rescue their relatives.

Yesterday, the UN warned that funding had "almost stalled" and contributions had raised less than two thirds of $460m needed to keep disease and hunger at bay.

For now, emergency relief remains the priority but the Pakistan government is planning to build 10 or more new towns across the country to help house families made homeless by the floods.

Farhatullah Babar, spokesman for President Zardari, said they would be built with a mixture of public and private cash, and that officials had approached the Asian Development Bank for a loan to help construction.

Each town would house up to 10,000 people.
However, he added that Benazirabad was only one of a number of possible names.
"The final decision has not yet been taken," he said.

Paki on strategic depth folly
COMMENT: Revisiting the military strategy —Zafar Hilaly
Actually, ‘strategic depth’ is a ‘made for India’ doctrine. Hence, recently, when terrorism rather than India was thought to be the more threatening danger, some felt happy that finally the penny had dropped. But no, we have been informed that India remains the greatest threat on the grounds that we judge our enemies by their ‘capability’ rather than ‘intention’.

Because there is fat chance that India will never dilute or degrade its military capability, India has other fish to fry, the litmus test that we have devised means that we will be continually striving to ward off India and equipping ourselves accordingly, even though it is terrorism that has accounted for 2,300 of our soldiers over the past two years and is being visited daily on society.

That aside, let us consider if the test of ‘capability’ has been correctly applied. If, in seeking our destruction India ensures its own, is not India far less ‘capable’ than we make out? And, was that not what the acquisition of nuclear capability promised and delivered? And, if that promise was a false one or has not delivered, why was it proffered as a panacea for the Indian threat? Either we were wrong when we claimed nuclear weapons were the answer, or are wrong now when we act as if they are not. Such questions raise doubts about the efficacy of our strategies and a whole lot more about the motives of some.

Clearly, the time has come for some fresh thinking. No one should have a vested interest in endlessly pursuing confrontation with India except perhaps those in India who wish to send us to the grave. Nor can we treat India as an eternal enemy. We have issues, including water, to discuss with India, which requires a paradigm shift in our flawed approach. It is time to get real.

A rare sane voice in Pak...sorry,Irfan lives in theUK mostly!
"...it is hard to see how cricket can be cleansed of corruption when the whole country is so tainted by it."
Cricket as a metaphor By Irfan Husain

Another day, another scandal. Judging from the media coverage of the cricket betting sting first reported by the News of the World, it would appear that there are no floods devastating the country; that millions have not been displaced; and that all is well with the country.

Indeed, it would seem that this innocent nation has just had its first experience of corruption. The shock and horror being expressed in newspaper columns, letters to editors, and on TV talk shows would make anybody think that nobody in our fair land has ever been accused or guilty of misusing his position to illegally line his pocket. But as the brickbats begin to fly – with many wanting to string up the accused cricketers – some Pakistanis have begun formulating a defence. This is the default position we tend to take whenever we are accused of wrongdoing by foreigners. A friend has just sent me this email from a certain Dr Owais. I am reproducing it here, mistakes and all:

“I believe they are not currupt… or involve in any way. It’s just british conspiracy to hide their mistakes … especially the player who hit Pakistani player and attack him … NO 1 talk about that … every 1 is discussing against Pakistan … Its show hate of english man toward us.”

Another argument was presented in a TV programme featuring two popular anchors. To start with, they sneered at the News of the World for being a tabloid that had occasionally lost libel suits in the UK for printing allegations they could not prove. But they failed to mention the fact that nine times out of ten, the muckraking newspaper has nailed its targets, with politicians being forced to resign after unsavoury details about their private lives were published.

It is certainly true that we are often too swift to rush to judgment. But in this case, I would like to know how anybody outside Lord’s could possibly predict precisely when a no-ball would be bowled by a particular bowler. Mathematically, such a coincidence is too remote to be even considered, especially when it happens three times. Combined with the footage the undercover journalist has provided of the sleazy character who collected 150,000 pounds on camera, it would certainly seem there is a smoking gun before us. Finally, no British newspaper, no matter how sensational, would risk a major libel case by concocting such a story without solid proof. I feel particularly sorry for young Mohammed Amir, the rising bowling star who has been caught up in the sting operation. Here is a hugely gifted 18-year old who sees a promising career collapsing before his eyes. Clearly, he became involved not just out of greed, but due to peer group pressure. When older players told him that bowling the odd no-ball was a harmless thing, and that it would net him some extra cash, he might easily have gone along. I recall starting smoking in college because cool friends of mine did. But then you don’t get arrested for smoking; you just go to an early grave.

Another thing we forget in our hypocritical fury is that it is not possible to isolate one institution or group of people, and demand that they maintain higher standards than the rest of society. When just about everybody who can, milks the system, why should we expect our cricketers to be clean? The argument that they are well-paid does not hold water: most of the politicians, generals, judges, bankers, businessmen, cops and bureaucrats who are routinely on the take are not exactly starving. So when they grow up in an environment where corruption is the norm, not the exception, why pretend such surprise to find these young men have tried to cash in on their position as international cricketers?

Then there is the question of the fleeting nature of stardom. While a few talented cricketers have long and illustrious careers, most fall by the wayside. Even top players retire in their mid-thirties when their bodies and reflexes can no longer perform at the highest level. And with younger, fitter players snapping at their heels, the competition to stay in the national team is fierce.

Many young players are from lower-middle class families with little education and no qualifications other than their abilities with bat or ball. Having learned their cricket in lanes and rough fields, they are all too aware of what poverty means. Can one blame them for not wanting to return to the squalor they have risen out of? Without wanting to excuse the accused players of the crime they are being charged with, I am trying to understand the motives behind their actions.

For years now, rumours of match-fixing have swirled around our national squad. To be sure, our cricketers are not the only ones to face such accusations: India, Australia and South Africa have all contended with their share of similar scandals in the past. But it is our team that has been the focus of more controversy than any other. Suddenly, dismal past performances are being re-examined in a different light. Was the Sydney Test deliberately thrown away, as many suggested at the time following a miraculous Australian victory over us? Cynically, several recent results in England appear to be bizarre to the point of being suspicious.

This, of course, is the problem with match-fixing: people begin questioning the validity of past results, and the genuine ones also become suspect. In the past, there have been a series of cover-ups and fudges. Even when there was strong evidence, top players got off with a rap on the knuckles, or a fine. Suspensions were curtailed if a player was valuable enough. The signal this wishy-washy attitude sent out was that even if you were caught, you could still emerge from ‘enquiries’ with reputation intact.

Our cricket administration has been very lax about team discipline, with stars being allowed to get away with all manner of antics. Top players have effectively blackmailed the cricket board to meet their terms. But again, the administrators are a product of our society and a system that prefers to close its eyes rather than take tough action. Given these factors, it is hard to see how cricket can be cleansed of corruption when the whole country is so tainted by it.
..and another glorious quote on the same subject from his colleague Kamran Shafi.

As a further reminder to those who are attempting to play the Great Game, here is another excerpt from Mullah Abdul Salam Zaeef’s My Life with the Taliban. The mullah who was the first and only ambassador of the Islamic (Taliban) Emirate of Afghanistan to the Citadel of Islam and I are polar opposites in every sense of the term: I could not agree with him on anything, whether it is the treatment of women or minorities, or so-called Islamic jurisprudence as practised by the Taliban; but he is a truthful man from all that one has read about and by him.

This is what he has to say about us: “Pakistan, which plays a key role in Asia, is so famous for treachery that it is said they can get milk from a bull. They have two tongues in one mouth, and two faces on one head so they can speak everybody’s language; they use everybody, deceive everybody.

They deceive the Arabs under the guise of Islamic nuclear power, saying that they are defending Islam and Islamic countries. They milk America and Europe in the alliance against terrorism, and they have been deceiving Pakistani and other Muslims around the world in the name of the Kashmiri jihad. But behind the curtain they have been betraying everyone.”

Er, which Taliban are we championing now please, sirs?

Can some one explain this logic not that I disagree I just cannot understand

VIEW: High fertility concerns post-floods —Murtaza Haider
With fortunately a low death count, the 2010 floods would still result in a higher fertility rate, given the very large displaced population. If not addressed in the post-disaster planning, higher fertility will result in multiplying the rebuilding needs in the next few years
So abduls fertility increases with flood? Shivji perhaps your medical knowledge can help us understand how it works.

The back of the locker is not even closed...
Spare key for the locker is with RAW...

JEM, Apropos Mike Scheur's article on nuke flashpoint etc..
And the piece below is written by a person who knows almost nothing about India. He fits into the mode of conspiracy theorists with propositions backed by little real information and a lot of rather far fetched speculation. Like so much of what Scheuer writes, I am not sure what the purpose of the article is (once you get through the rather clumsy text), except to get some attention by saying something rather dramatic. What is rather startling is the writer's view that somehow Indian strategic interests are almost by definition illigitimate and that India would not know how to defend its interests other than an ultimate military confrontation. Harsh Pant has written very well on India's interest in Afghanistan is a test case of its larger and more assertive role in the Indian Ocean and its littoral, a move to redeem the older British Indian influence in this body of water that was blocked by the Cold War.
