some good 'eye of the tiger' shots of indic archers releasing arrows from bows during archery...the slight bending of the arrows captured nicely...

kalmadiji droning on now...sigh...

Ah....I read it as "paapi" as in paap aur poonya :-). And jhappis brought "jhaapads" {slaps} Thanks for clarifying; I did not have to run to BRF dictionary.

1. Suresh bhai breaks into a feeble smile as the junta starts booing him. Ironically he says the “aftertstate will linger for a long time” and “this is not the end”. One shudders.

2. DD inglish commentator can’t pronounce Rajapaksa. Gives up.

3. And just where have all the SDRE's gone? Onlee TFTA types around.

Why dont the Indian media come up with such articles?
I agree with most of the comments there, it was indeed a nicely done article. It pushed the right buttons and pulled the right chords. If thousand such articles prop up, I might reconsider India dropping from Commonwealth.

Its embarrassing to listen to this a*hole . Sycophancy in which Indian bureaucracy are top class demonstrated for the whole world to see.

India superpower
Delhi world class
Greatest games ever
on and on and on.

Let others judge, you dont spend 30 minutes blowing your own broken trumpet on how wonderful and world class you are.

Where are the shooters when you need them.

One more time I hear Kalmadis or gills name I will puke.

Best compliment for CWG was from guy who is leading Pakistani kafila. Heard on BBC while driving. He told something like" these were the best games and we knew that India is capable of this. People in west are criticizing for because they are jealeous. India should be given OLYMPIC GAMES 2020".

Just when one thought it can’t get any worse than kalmadi speech, out comes Shamik davar lip-synching the 70’s top of the pop charts. The entire lot is lip-synching so pathetically that cameras, thankfully, are avoiding close-up shots.

A much better act would have been the Shillong choir.

grrrr.... how pathetic. Closing ceremony left a real bad taste in mouth.

Signs were bad right from the start. Martial arts segment was kinda lame, ass kissing by Kalmadi was embarrassing and bollywood crap in end was downright insulting. Gosh, Shiamak is now my third most hated figure after Kalmadi and MS Aiyar.

Soldier firepower at Games
The Telegraph

New Delhi, Oct 11:

The Indian soldier is the biggest winner for the country in the Commonwealth Games.

Indian Army soldiers and Indian Navy sailors have won 23 medals between them so far. They are all havildars, subedars, petty officers and cadets — called PBOR for “Personnel Below Officer Rank”. None of the medal winners is a commissioned officer.

Rajyavardhan Rathore, who had brought laurels for the country in shooting, is a colonel in the army. He has not qualified to be part of the Indian shooting contingent in the CWG this time.

Staff of the Indian Railways has also won 17 medals between them in the CWG.

Chief petty officer Omkar Singh of the navy has won three golds and a silver in different categories of air pistol shooting. Subedar Vijay Kumar has won three golds and a silver in different categories of rifle shooting.

The soldiers and sailors have won medals in five disciplines: shooting, weightlifting, wrestling, archery and athletics (20km walk).

A total of 41 soldiers are part of the 600-plus strong Indian contingent at the CWG. The army began a “Mission Olympics” programme in 2001 aiming at podium finish at the world-level in select disciplines.

If soldiers must necessarily be good marksmen, India’s armed forces have reason to be proud. In shooting alone, the soldiers and sailors have won 15 medals — 11 golds, two silvers and two bronze.

K. Ravi Kumar, Sukhan Dey and V.S. Rao — all havildars in the army — have won three medals in weightlifting. Master chief petty officer-II Sudhir Kumar of the navy took the bronze in 77kg weightlifting.

The sportsmen were trained in the Army Sports Institute, Pune, and the Army Marksmen Unit in Mhow.

Even off the field, the armed forces are being applauded for their contribution to the CWG. Army engineers put up a foot overbridge in four days after the one built by a Chandigarh-based company collapsed, injuring 23 workmen 12 days before the Games were to begin. The bridge is connected to the main venue in Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium

a nice touch this time was holding the para- competitions in parallel rather than a forgotten sideshow after the main games for the sake of political correctness. this guy is definitely enjoying the opportunity

+1. It was a good ceremony. Looked like a huge party. I loved seeing our foreigner guests enjoying and it seemed they really loved the games.

Someone high up needs to be thanked for stopping DD from ruining games with adverts! Thank the lord!

It was said that the aerostat mirrors will play a role in the closing. But the mirrors themselves were missing! It was reported that the mirror operator had been deported before the opening.
Thats a big waste of money!

Highs:

1. UKstani prince riding an Indian owned Land Rover to the stadia.
2. Parts of martial dance which had Naga and Manipuri dancers.
3. Services band
4. Railway beeline by the games marshals and their enthusiastic presence till the end.
5. Spectators
6. Athletes – even the gori motorhams – having a ball.
7. Booing of kalmadi
8. A well mannered Rajpaksha who didn’t seem to mind that not many speeches acknowledge his presence suitable.
9. Sheila Dikshit for being so gracious .
10. Glasgow lads and lassies- with whatever they were trying to do.
11. Laser show
12. Fireworks. Truly spectacular

Lows:
1. Mascot on auto with that dumb lip synch singer
2. Kalmadi.
3. Delhi Governor who indulged in stealth ass licking.
4. Bollywood punk show. And just who made samaik davar a singer?

Overall it was a good show.

BTW did anyone notice the melancholy look on paki athletes?

Soon they will be backing home leaving behind the opulence of the CWG village. Unlimited food to eat. World class medical facilities. Uncovered meat to oogle at. Possibilities were endless for the enterprising paki. 15 days of jannat.

Sadly for the abduls good things must come to an end. Lets celebrate that none disappeared while in Delhi.

quite a memorable para this. :D am sure there must have been some incidents of pakis approaching goris seeking their autograph, wanting to take a group photo with them, trying to convert them, peeping toms in swimming areas and dressing rooms, demanding to know their phone numbers :rotfl: just the usual "issues" hushed up by the admins for political correctness.

well all good things come to an end - its back to peshawar, attock and multan from the opulent feast of rome. back to the drone of the national bird.
