India's new Bible wears a bindi
When Mary and Joseph discovered a power-hungry king was hunting their son Jesus Christ, they escaped to the safety of Egypt. But before Christianity's first family fled, barefoot Mary slipped into a sari and put a bindi on her forehead, while Joseph tied tight his long loincloth and turban.

At least, that's how their flight is illustrated in a Bible produced for Indians.

"Conversion is a human right," he says, fiddling with a large crucifix around his neck.

"We cannot refuse to others our beautiful way of life." :D :P

We know nothing about the kind of person Omar Khalidi was as an individual.

The "We know nothing.." part reminds me of the famous household dialogue " I have a problem on my hands We have a problem on our hands" :)

There was nothing good about him

His ultimate aim was the breakdown of the Indian Army through some way paving the way for his mindset to take over

What has any of this got to do with the kind of person he was as an individual?

So he was advocating objectionable and dangerous ideas in various fora including BRF? It is his right to do so and it is upto others to take appropriate action against such attempts. For example, his attempt to garner publicity for this cause was cut down on BRF.

Incidentally, there are other people who have advocated dangerous ideas such as suspending Indian democracy in order to "cleanse" the system. These people were also shouted down and kicked out of BRF, but surely no one has personal ill-will towards them?

I want to celebrate the defeat of Adharma, not the personal misery of people who simply advocate it.

I have nothing more to say on this.

Your call - you made the big brouha questioning members dharma etc

In BRF we do not gloat when a professional PAF pilot dies in an unfortunate accident and if someone does we cut him short very quickly.

a Pak army Brig involved in jehadi operations is a diff kettle

Likewise a Razakar in academia is a different story.

Essentially we know where to draw the line -

No. You are absolutely right in suspecting. The RAW/CBI should investigate all these people. The most dangerous thing the Pukes and OBL have done is to infect Africans with infectious disease called "Jihad". We have to be utmost careful. If possible, notify AP CID.

Manipuri ultra arrested from Bihar
http://www.zeenews.com/news671591.html
Motihari/Imphal: One of the most wanted Manipuri separatist leader Rajkumar Meghen alias Sana Yaima was arrested from Motihari in East Champaran district of Bihar, reports claimed Wednesday.

Meghen is said to be the current chairman of United National Liberation Front (UNLF), the oldest Meitei insurgent group in North East which aims at Manipur’s separation from the rest of India and to establish “an independent socialist Manipur.

He is known to be a member of the royal family of Manipur and has studied international relations in Kolkata's Jadavpur University.

Meghen, who was wanted in a dozen rebel attack cases went missing after being reportedly caught in Bangladesh two months ago. Later, he is supposed to have taken shelter near the India-Nepal border to evade arrest, before his arrest yesterday.

Acting on a tip-off, Meghen was arrested from near Chhatauni Chowk by a three-member team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) which was assisted by local police, sources said.

''Manipur Police AIG CP Mina identified the militant leader,'' Paras Nath, Superintendent of Police (East Champaran) was quoted as saying by a newspaper.

He was produced before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Motihari and is being brought to Delhi on a transit remand.
JNU, Jadavpur University, Jamia Millia all terrorist rearing universities.

Close these 3 useless universities and save people's money and lives.

I do not know why I put the review of this Book by Meenakshi Jain on Hindu/Muslim relations in this thread, but I felt it is very appropriate and quite timely for to see somebody has the guts to bring the real Historical truth by demolishing hunky dory Hindu/Muslim bhai bhai counterfeit theory of "Harmony" as planted through the years by the psedeuo- secular Historians to suppress unparalleled brutality committed by the Isalmic rulers against the ingenious people and their culture. And this- is the root cause of deep hatred and suspicion that still runs through the veins of this two communities and divides them. This is no "Harmony" as put by these counterfeit Historian to legitimise constructed space for an even playing field. And such planted Fraud is one of the reason of disruptive force that try to break our social fabrics and will continue until we unveil and analyse these causes planted deep down in our History.

Meenakshi Jain's book explains the leitmotif for Hindu-Muslim relations for over a millennium and demolishes the ‘harmony' theory,
Given this background, Meenakshi Jain’s Parallel Pathways is a path-breaking work, seeking to blast the myths vis-à-vis Hindu-Muslim relations from 1707 to the Great Uprising of 1857.
Parallel Pathways: Essays on Hindu-Muslim Relations (1707-1857)
Author: Meenakshi Jain
Publisher: Konark
Price: 600

Hindus and Muslims lived amicably in undivided India until Britain colonised the country, promoted conflict between the two communities, pursued a policy of divide and rule and eventually presided over the division of the country before exiting from the subcontinent. This is the standard narrative of many Left-leaning historians who shut their eyes to historical truths and moulded history to suit their ideological predilections.

Much of this, however, is false because it seeks to hide the facts regarding the cruelty and despotism of many Muslim rulers, the destruction of thousands of Hindu temples, the religious persecution of Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists and Jains and the sustained efforts of these rulers to dismantle the cultural edifice of the Indic civilisation — all of which created a Hindu-Muslim divide that existed when the British arrived on the scene and remained thereafter, resulting in the country’s tragic partition.

The producers of this counterfeit history have just one objective in mind — to denounce indigenous religions and culture, to eulogise religions imported into this land and to expurgate from history books all facts that show the latter in poor light. A logical extension of this spurious enterprise is to imagine Hindu-Muslim harmony before the advent of the British and blame the coloniser for the discord that emerged between the two communities in the 19th and 20th centuries leading to Partition and much else.

For example, historians who carry this ideological baggage have tried — and continue to try — to paint even a despotic ruler like Aurangzeb in ‘secular’ colours. Aurangzeb persecuted Hindus, imposed a tax on them and destroyed hundreds of Hindu temples including the Krishna Temple in Mathura and the Vishwanath Temple in Benaras. He heaped indignities on Hindus and Sikhs and some eminent historians like Jadunath Sarkar, RC Mazumdar and Will Durant, who have remained true to their calling, have chronicled the many facets of his oppressive regime.

However, in recent years, historians belonging to the pseudo-secular school have been working overtime to bury these truths and give Aurangzeb a more acceptable face. This is the common thread that runs through these narratives, however laughable it may seem, in the light of the chronicles left behind by Aurangzeb’s official historians, including the Akhbarats, which were reports on the orders passed by the emperor and other accounts like Mirat-i-Alam and Alamgir-Nama written by Mughal court officials. This is just a sample of the monumental disservice that historians of this ilk have done to our understanding of medieval history and thereafter, the historical background of Partition.

However, the enterprise of this school is not confined to just manufacturing the past. It extends to management of the present as well, with members of this school entrenching themselves in academia and institutions owing allegiance to those who are the prime beneficiaries of their spurious output and denying opportunities to those who oppose this disjunction between truth and history.

Given this background, Meenakshi Jain’s Parallel Pathways is a path-breaking work, seeking to blast the myths vis-à-vis Hindu-Muslim relations from 1707 to the Great Uprising of 1857.

As Jain points out, a school of historians believes that the revolt of 1857 “was the last notable manifestation of Hindu-Muslim unity”. That thereafter, this unity was undermined by the policies of the British leading eventually to Partition. In other words, Hindu-Muslim unity was “an accomplished fact” in the centuries preceding the great revolt. The reality, she says, is “considerably more complex” and can be traced to some precepts that are central to Islam and which have influenced Muslim rulers since the Arab conquest of Sind in 712 AD. For example, Church and state were intertwined in Islam and Muslims believed that “Islam could be Islam properly only in conjunction with political power”. As a result, “secularisation of the polity and society were incompatible with Islam”. Islam, she says, divided the world into believers and non-believers and “designated all Indians as kafirs”. As these concepts were at the core of Islamic belief, there was little scope for harmony between Hindus and Muslims. These concepts also had a great bearing on how a succession of Muslim kings ran their kingdoms and the attitude of the Muslim elite in India.

Jain says Islam and the civilisation that it confronted in India espoused “markedly differing ideals”. While Islam gave primacy to universal Muslim brotherhood and promoted a centralised autocratic polity, “the civilisation as it evolved in the subcontinent was... secular (in that the religious identity was not paramount), decentralised and democratic and exalted patriotism (love of the land) above other loyalties. The subsequent history of India was to a considerable degree shaped by the contest between these two varying perspectives”. This single paragraph in Jain’s book explains the leitmotif for Hindu-Muslim relations for over a millennium and effectively demolishes the ‘harmony’ theory.

This conflict between Islam and the Indian civilisation has been recorded by many travellers, court historians, writers and poets, and Jain packs her book with valuable quotes from the most authentic chroniclers to clinch the argument that the disjunction was too deep and fundamental for any kind of concord to emerge between the two civilisations. Further, the attitude of Islam towards the Indic religions resulte d in the sustained and barbaric campaign against the adherents of these religions and their places of worship, besides the imposition of jizya (tax) on Hindus and the plethora of discriminatory practices by Muslim rulers.

This onslaught, however, was not just confined to matters of religion. It extended to the wider canvass of culture, including architecture and language. For example, Akbar made Persian the language of administration and the Mughal empire was “closely connected with the cultivation of Persian culture in all its aspects”. Further, Jain says no native language of India received any meaningful patronage from the ‘great’ Mughals, “who were widely perceived in the regions as unsympathetic to indigenous languages”.

Following the decline of the Mughals, it became imperative to replace Persian and Hindi/Hindavi seemed the natural choice, but for the Muslim elite “its (Hindi/Hindavi) principle drawback was its profusion of tatsama and tadbhava Sanskrit words”. So, a solution was found by purging Sanskit-origin words and replacing them with Arabic and Persian words — “a process that culminated in the birth of Urdu”. In other words, the assault on Indian civilisation was comprehensive and nothing was left out. Chapter VI on “Language: A Calculated Rupture” offers a wide-ranging analysis on the language issue as it deals with the expurgation of Sanskrit, the origins of Hindi/Hindavi and Urdu.

The Hindu-Muslim cleavage, largely fuelled by the bigotry of Muslim rulers, remained apparent during the revolt of 1857 and persisted thereafter. In the final chapter, the author explains the impact of this cultural dissonance on the subcontinental politics in the latter half of the 19th century. Sir Sayyid Ahmad Khan’s thesis that promoted Muslim separatism and the eventual Partition seems an inevitable corollary when one sees and acknowledges this dissonance. In short, this is a book that is worthy of recommendation, especially for those who wish to shift history from mythology.

Foreign Correspondents abuse Indian hospitality, host Mirwaiz
In an extremely provocative intervention in India’s internal affairs, the Delhi-based Foreign Correspondents’ Club of South Asia invited Kashmiri separatist leader Mirwaiz Umer Farooq for an exclusive interaction with foreign journalists, dis-inviting even the Indian media, which stood outside the venue and covered the protest by agitated nationalists, including members of the ousted Kashmiri Pandit community.
The writer and Smt. Nancy Kaul, convener, Daughters of Vitasta (an organisation of the ousted Pandit community), managed to enter the main gate of the Mathura Road venue, but were soon hustled out by a formidable lady who was checking each and every person against a typed list. She insisted firmly that the event was only for foreign correspondent members of the club, and so we were soon out.
The FCC management claimed that the meeting was organised so that journalists working for foreign media could hear the Hurriyat chairman, who has invited public ire across the nation on account of his demands for independence. It claimed the event was only for select invitees.

That this was not entirely true can be seen from the fact that a representative of the Pakistan High Commission was allowed to attend the meeting, even though he was not on the list of invitees. It seems the gentleman arrived at the club premises, identified himself and requested to be allowed in. One of the organisers told the policemen manning the gate to let him in (Times of India, Dec. 1, 2010).

^^^^^^

At the very least these buggers if they had any sense of fairness. Should have invited the displaced pundits for a latter interview to get a sense of their plight.

But we know that this will not be done.

So in response a nationalist Indian government ought to cancel the accreditation of such journalists ought to be withdrawn immediately and they be expelled for interfering in the internal affairs of the nation..

JEM,

Looking at the actions of the GOI in the Roy case. I am not so optimistic that any action will be taken by the GOI / Affiliates against the FCC.

The Media the way it has been compromised will not even raise a murmer of protest against the FCC. Though in the unlikely event of the GOI doing any thing. Then will most defenitely close the ranks with the FCC.

The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) suspect that the two alleged Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operatives, arrested from Thane on November 15 for allegedly plotting to park oil-laden tankers inside four oil refineries, might be of Pakistani origin. Initially, though, ATS claimed that both the accused are natives of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir, public prosecutor TN Munganti told the court that investigations point out that the accused might be Pakistanis.

As per Wiki, Davy is a Danish Citizen and GoI thorugh CBI is trying to extradite him from Denmark (like the Abu Salem - Portugal case) after giving assurances that he will not be sentenced to death for his crimes.

The US proposal is reported to have its origins in the visit of Rashad Hussain, US Special Envoy to the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC).
Googling for Rashad Hussain reveals things that are not good to have on one's resume.

America was instrumental in bringing together disparate kashmiri groups and turning them into the Hurriyat conference.

Taking a lesson from helpful deeds of our american friends GOI ought to reject this trojan offer with a simple "Thanks but no thanks" remark.

Bangladesh 'ship seized by pirates' off India

A Bangladeshi-flagged ship is believed to have been seized by pirates off southern India, say shipping officials.

The MV Jahan Moni was attacked after a long pursuit near the Lakshadweep group of islands, some 300km (185 miles) from the Indian coast.

The ship, with 25 Bangladeshi crew on board, was on its way from Singapore to Europe via the Suez Canal.

Bangladeshi Rear Admiral Bazlur Rahman said the crew had raised the alarm and the ship was now moving erratically.

"We lost contact with the ship at 5.38pm (1138 GMT) Bangladesh time after it was attacked by pirates for the second time. We suspect the ship has been captured by the pirates," Adm Rahman told the AFP news agency.

"All symptoms are there that the pirates have taken control of the ship.

"It was chased by the pirates for more than an hour," said Adm Rahman, adding that the boat had sent out a distress signal.

"Now it is showing erratic movement."

The Bangladesh Shipping Department said it had sought help from the Indian coastguard and from anti-piracy teams in Dubai and Singapore.

Several nations are involved in operations to tackle Somalia-based piracy in the busy shipping lanes of the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean.

Somali pirates have been seizing ships increasingly far away from their homeland, but have never been known to operate so close to India.
Does anyone know which frigates from western command patrol these waters? It is amazing that a bunch of somalians could sail undetected all the way till Lakshadweep and grab a ship so easily.

WikiLeaks: LeT planned to kill Modi, set up bases in south India (Mathrubhumi:English)
Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), blamed for Mumbai terror attack, had planned to assassinate Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and use Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu as a strike base in southern India, a leaked US diplomatic cable reveals.

With the current commie regime doing a really good show in governance, their work might have been quite easy .

More likely the infiltration route into India is now shifting southwards via Lanka as the hub. See the Zardari visit to Sri Lanka etc.

The more troubling aspect of the wikileaks is if Delhi was informed and sat on it. The leak says the cable is from 19 June 2009. So two questions:
- Was Delhi informed by US?
- What did Delhi do about it?

However looks like it was marked for not to be shared with foreign govts. :(
Whats the point of that? Or is it hope?

It is highly unlikely that such info was not shared. The cables are for internal consumption. However, that intelligence is still ultimately evaluated at some nodal point somewhere in USA, and what is "actionable" will be shared - even if indirectly with counterparts in India who have been designated speciafically for such exchanges.

If dissemination is not undertaken from the Indian side, it means conscious decision to allow certain things to proceed in certain directions. I think we now should understand the process by which at least three assassinations of Indian leaders happened and the legendary Indian internal security system that finished off each and every communist and Sikh insurgency in the past - failed to prevent those assassinations. Suppose allowing things to proceed against NaMo would be hypothetically desirable from both USA and GOI side.

From the GOI side it could be a political view which would think of it as political gamble with risk but still manageable. Any attack against NaMo can be passed off as "unfortunate" but "he had it coming" by allowing "atrocities" on "Muslims". So Cong will not be blamed, and "Muslim" image can still be protected by representing it as "in righteous anger".

From the US side, letting NaMo be eliminated could be used as scoring point with Pak and other Islamist outfits - a bargaining chip, and also pleasing the Cong, and perhaps even some religious sects in US which would see such elimination as an act of "God" in favour of the "true faith". It could also be a hidden item of blackmail against the Cong for future control [I passed you the info and you chose not to act on it - shall we make it public?]

However, they would also not think of a possible sympathy "wave" that consolidates popular swing towards the saffron? Are they that great fools? I don't think so!

Is it more like neither West nor Islamist or DIE PSers desire any pro Hindu governing India ? Internal and external threats seems to muliply as the first sign of Indians ruling themselves. ABV might end up be the onlee single semi-hanood in modern India history to promote any indigenous ingredients in his short governing period. If Yuvraj require more incubating then after MMS , India will get its Muslim / Christain PM. Food for thought for dream candidate PC.
