it has been mentioned the police depts USwide have been juicing up on ex-mil surplus gear disposed off by the US army and marines.

I thought it was just assault rifles and pistols, but clearly it extends to other areas like dress, deportment, webbing, boots, BPJs....

the police which was always heavy-handed has now morphed into a national guard of sorts...the real national guard I think needs a POTUS/State Governor order to deploy but if local units are armed on this scale, clearly they can fight platoon and batallion sized engagements on their own, with some air support!

Lawmakers aim to curb military surplus program for police after Ferguson
IMAGES OF HEAVILY armed police clashing with protesters in Ferguson, Mo., following the death of an unarmed teen are fueling a bipartisan push to curb a Pentagon program that gives free military gear to local law enforcement, as lawmakers voice concerns about using 'military response' to subdue civilian riots.

Incidents like these along with increased Muslim migration to the US will go a long in ensurng that there is more peace in the world.

Until the US awam does not realize what it is like for Yazidis to be at the mercy of ISIS, the US elites will not stop interfering in an unprovoked fashion in other parts of the world.

More ARMs, MRAPS, BPJs, and Sniper rifles to the police I say!

US uses Berkeley Haas School Expertise in preserving innocent citizens' rights during communal riots

Let's see:

Innocent Civilians have been allowed to provide themselves with Beauty Products and gave Beauty Shop personnel a hard-earned vacation:
"I understand that you're not safe either, but you still have a job to do now, and now you're not doing your job," Tanya Littleton, owner of the looted Feel Beauty Supply, said about police in an phone interview with CNN. The beauty store's floor was littered with broken glass and merchandise, video from CNN affiliate KTVI showed. Looters took off with hair extensions worth at least $200 a bag, Littleton said. "We're shut down for a while. It's not safe, and the police are doing nothing about it," she told KTVI.
Innocent Civilians were also provided with some thirst-quenching refreshments:
Also targeted was Sam's Meat Market and Liquor. After hearing that people grabbed chicken, bacon and spirits from their store, the owners arrived with guns and stood outside, warding off any further raids.
Jay Kanzler, lawyer for Ferguson Market and Liquor, said police did nothing to stop the looting in town.
"Don't know why the ....(***King Pakistan).... police didn't do anything. They were told to stand down and I don't know why," Kanzler said.
The government has been extremely pro-active, unlike the Hindu-Nationalist Genocidal Govts in India:
Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon had put the Missouri State Highway Patrol in charge of protest security in Ferguson after days of sometimes violent clashes between police and protesters. CNN's call to the patrol Saturday morning wasn't immediately returned.
Unlike the police in Hindu-Nationalist India who stood around doing nothing while citizens' rights were violated, American police were pro-active in protecting innocent citizens:
Owners of the raided stores expressed frustration that police, looking on nearby, didn't stop the looters.
Innocent citizens were allowed to collect provisions that they earned by their own hard work:
Looters ran out of shops with boxes stacked in their arms up to their chins. Behind them lay overturned shelves, spilled goods and wrecked displays. All the while, police stayed back by their armored vehicles and observed but did not stop them.
Innocent citizens, even in the midst of a tense and stressful situation, were particular to make sure that their pizza was properly broiled:
Three Molotov cocktails pummeled the roof of a Domino's Pizza, burning a hole, before firefighters put the flames out.
Obstructionists tried to keep Deserving Innocent Citizens out of their just rewards, but the liquor did it's job: within an hour they were asleep:
About an hour later, about a dozen people lined up to block Ferguson Market and Liquor's entrance, saying they were keeping looters out. But before sunrise (when the Protectors had long since drunk themselves into the gutter), looters returned there for a second round.
Yessss!!! We should all learn from the Berkeley Haas School's lessons, conveyed through Dr. Shashi Buluswar, Dr. Angana Chatterji and Mr. Prafool Bidwai, on how to Protect Innocent Citizens During Riots!!!

umm..not really.

the issue here is cops shooting people when not necessary.

unless you think it is ok for cops to shoot people (when not actively endangering cop or others).

proper process is to arrest the guy and put him through the justice system - whether he robbed and beat an indian guy or for that matter any other guy.

simple logic really.

Finally, some great uses of Defense Research:
According to the Daily Mail, in addition to the rubber bullets and tear gas, some protesters reported being bombarded with thick wooden disks and balls filled with pepper powder designed to burst on impact. - See more at: http://www.opposingviews.com/i/society/ ... hPHpl.dpuf

There is a priority list here:
1. Drugs from drugstores.
2. Booze.
3. TV sets (that was in the past, today TVs are dirt cheap, OK< huge flat-panels.
4. Cellphones. Maybe cellphones is now #2.
5. Here they also went for Beauty Products.

Liquor is almost always taken anywhere in the world, as is anything else that is small (cellphones, beauty products, whatever). Anything that is small and bartable is currency, untraceable and therefore better than money in the streets. This in itself is not news. I haven't seen coverage of pharmacies being routed, but the scale of the violence (more today) is not small, so who knows. Bread has a shelf life, opportunity does not come by every day. TV sets are no longer currency. Thus minor adjustments, or shall we say evolution (ahem, intelligent design) of the tactics.

This whole thing reminds me of the chance meeting with a very conservative approximately square (in every dimension, even when subdivided) and roughly 300 pound caucasian male (along with his christian wife). He was keenly studying "how to better fulfill your ministry" or something similar, with a yellow highlighter and marking pens and callouts and such, while sitting comfortably in first class on a long flight. Particular attention was being paid to "roles and responsibilities of a christian woman" as his lady wife sat in the next seat. Underlines and yellow highlights everywhere. The book is freely available, should someone want to civilize themselves, by the way.

Perhaps that is what is lacking. We really need more missionaries to go in and sooth and calm the inner cities.

See?? In America the government reacts instantly. Now all those looted and burned shops will magically come back to life and their empty shelves will be miraculously filled as the Peaceful Citizens kindly return the items that they have been safe-keeping.
It took only 1 week for the Declaration of Emergency.
"If we're going to have justice, we must first have and maintain peace," Nixon said at a Saturday afternoon press conference. "The eyes of the world are watching."

Captain Ron Johnson of the Missouri State Highway Patrol says the curfew will run from midnight to 5 a.m. local time Sunday and will be enforced through conversations, not tear gas and tanks.
:(( (that's me, crying at that touching declaration)

USA starts human trials of new state of the art abortion technique
The tear gas used by police in Ferguson has been known for its severe effects on health, which include temporary blindness, breathing problems, and the risk of miscarriages, as well as potential heart and liver damage.

This whole Ferguson thing beggars belief, but was to be expected if one has been following US policing for some time:

Michael Brown gets shot and the police respond with overwhelming force. The control of policing was initially handed over to the County police who were not at all local and were trigger happy. More amazing was the fact that the FAA declared a no-fly zone over Ferguson so that the news reporters could not fly drones or helicopters over the area to get live coverage. The ostensible reason given was the catch all "security for law enforcement" excuse. Next was the fact that although the local police have no powers to enforce a curfew (only the mayor or the governor can do that), the police chief went on record stating that a curfew was in place, which violates quite a few laws itself. Then, was the high handedness of the police: anything moving was promptly tear gassed. Word is that the police themselves being poorly trained despite all the equipment available were quite jumpy: the slightest noise was met with overwhelming display of force. Not even the journalists were spared: there are videos on the net showing the police firing tear gas pellets on a journalist team that was calmly recording the proceedings: they had a spotlight and a camera set up on a tripod with 3-4 people doing the recording. The tear gas pellets were fired into them, they ran away leaving the equipment behind. The police then came and dismantled the equipment... all this on camera!

Actually there is quite the precedent for this: the Boston bombing. The police had completely locked down the entire city to catch a single white male, with house-to-house searches without warrants. And going back further, there was the Donner affair where the police literally executed on of their own because he was exposing their corrupt nexus. Again, the trigger happy behaviour: the police opened indiscriminate fire on a car carrying two white females in the search for Donner, when Donner was a black male...

Its ironic that the Americans who yell "'Murica!, freedom! " and "Live free or die" raise not a peep at this state of affairs. Even more interesting is that their press fails to highlight this and the steady encroachment of their rights. They are too tied up with their Rep vs Dem debates to notice that the frog is being boiled alive... of course, they are at forefront at lecturing others

Singha, plans for air support are already in the making. A few police departments have applied for plans to operate UAVs and in fact one PD already operated a UAV claiming the FAA does not have jurisdiction. Apparently one PD also has plans for UCAVs to take out "snipers"... all for the safety of law enforcement only.

I one asked a life free or die types what he thought of this. He muttered that a revolution was coming and everyone needs t to make plans to support " patriots"... I stopped talking at that point.

Americans and the Pakis have much in common, both profess great love for freedom or Islam and will claim to eat grass for defending it but fail to realize the version of what they have causes the problem in the first place.

How American Media(controlled by US establishment) would have covered Ferguson if it happened in some other country.
FERGUSON — Chinese and Russian officials are warning of a potential humanitarian crisis in the restive American province of Missouri, where ancient communal tensions have boiled over into full-blown violence.

"We must use all means at our disposal to end the violence and restore calm to the region," Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in comments to an emergency United Nations Security Council session on the America crisis.

The crisis began a week ago in Ferguson, a remote Missouri village that has been a hotbed of sectarian tension. State security forces shot and killed an unarmed man, which regional analysts say has angered the local population by surfacing deep-seated sectarian grievances. Regime security forces cracked down brutally on largely peaceful protests, worsening the crisis.

America has been roiled by political instability and protests in recent years, which analysts warn can create fertile ground for extremists.

Missouri, far-removed from the glistening capital city of Washington, is ostensibly ruled by a charismatic but troubled official named Jay Nixon, who has appeared unable to successfully intervene and has resisted efforts at mediation from central government officials. Complicating matters, President Obama is himself a member of the minority sect protesting in Ferguson, which is ruled overwhelmingly by members of America's majority "white people" sect.

Analysts who study the opaque American political system, in which all provinces are granted semi-autonomous self-rule, warned that Nixon may seize the opportunity to move against weakened municipal rulers in Ferguson. Missouri's provincial legislature, a traditional "shura council," is dominated by the opposition faction. Though fears of a military coup remain low, it is still unknown how Nixon's allies within the capital will respond should the crisis continue.

Now, international leaders say they fear the crisis could spread.

"The only lasting solution is reconciliation among American communities and stronger Missouri security forces," Chinese President Xi Jinping said in a speech from his vacation home in Hainan. "However, we can and should support moderate forces who can bring stability to America. So we will continue to pursue a broader strategy that empowers Americans to confront this crisis."

Xi's comments were widely taken as an indication that China would begin arming moderate factions in Missouri, in the hopes of overpowering rogue regime forces and preventing extremism from taking root. An unknown number of Kurdish peshmerga military "advisers" have traveled to the region to help provide security. Gun sales have been spiking in the US since the crisis began.

Analysts warn the violence could spread toward oil-producing regions such as Oklahoma or even disrupt the flow of American beer supplies, some of the largest in the world, and could provide a fertile breeding ground for extremists. Though al-Qaeda is not known to have yet established a foothold in Missouri, its leaders have previously hinted at assets there.

Though Missouri is infamous abroad for its simmering sectarian tensions and brutal regime crackdowns, foreign visitors here are greeted warmly and with hospitality. A lawless expanse of dogwood trees and beer breweries, Missouri is located in a central United States region that Americans refer to, curiously, as the "MidWest" though it is nearer to the country's east.

It is known among Americans as the home of Mark Twain, a provincial writer from the country's small but cherished literary culture, and as the originator of Budweiser, a traditional American alcoholic beverage. Budweiser itself is now owned by a Belgian firm, in a sign of how globalization is transforming even this remote area of the United States. Analysts say some american communities have struggled as globalization has pulled jobs into more developed countries, worsening instability here.

Locals here eat a regional delicacy known as barbecue, made from the rib bones of pigs, and subsist on traditional crafts such as agriculture and aerospace engineering. The regional center of commerce is known locally as Saint Louis, named for a 13th century French king, a legacy of Missouri's history as a remote and violent corner of the French Empire.

Though Ferguson's streets remained quiet on Friday, a palpable sense of tension and uncertainty hung in the air. A Chinese Embassy official here declined to comment but urged all parties to exhibit restraint and respect for the rule of law. In Moscow, Kremlin planners were said to be preparing for a possible military intervention should political instability spread to the nearby oil-producing region of Texas.
