The statement reflects a significant political realignment in Tamil Nadu, with leaders expressing support for Annamalai’s new movement and positioning it as a youth-driven alternative within the state’s evolving political landscape.

Chennai: Tamil Nadu BJP vice president Karu Nagaraajan says, "Former IPS officer Annamalai, who served as the BJP's state president and earned immense support from the people of Tamil Nadu, has resigned from the BJP.

Through social media, he has also indicated how he intends to function in the future.

We have all decided to stand by him and support Annamalai's efforts...He has now launched a new movement based on several ideas, including encouraging greater youth participation in politics.

We have decided to join Annamalai and extend whatever support we can to the organisation he has started, as he enjoys widespread public backing. We will send our resignation letters to the BJP leadership of our own accord.

Our politics will not be against Vijay personally. It may be against a Vijay-led government.

Pointing out the mistakes of any government in power is a democratic responsibility.

If leaders are changed repeatedly in Tamil Nadu, how can meaningful political change be brought about in the state?

Several BJP functionaries have voluntarily come forward and expressed their support for Annamalai along with me.

Annamalai will emerge as the leader preferred by the people of Tamil Nadu."

I think this is good development for TN. Annamalai's new party will put an end to "Dravida" nonsense which has been the only point on which rival parties contested - DMK and ADMK. The new Annamalai party can come up with a modern manifesto on what it believes and outline a positive agenda when they come to power sans "Dravida" baggage. People especially the youth want wholesale change and they are tired of the old folks clogging/clinging to power while doing nothing substantial. Annamalai is relatively young too. He needs to think big and outline something which China has done in their recent past - massive modernization, with 2x to 10 x growth in most areas, 7-8% is no more a goal. Places like Chennai are creaking with old stuff and many areas require wholesale knock down and rebuild. Chandra babu Naidu did that to HBad and see where HBad is today. The belt from Chennai to Sriperumbdur, Chennai Kalpakkam Mahabalipuram, Trichy Tanjavur Madurai triangle and of course Coimbatore area including Karur textile all require massive rejigging for growth. Hosur area is another that can be made to compete with Bluru even more. Another thing that TN requires is wholesale cleanliness everywhere with proper recycling and treatment plants. Jal Jeevan throughout TN should be the goal. The existing Airport in Chennai should be made into true two independent runways, by taking out some illegal colonies that sprung up due to Karuna/MGR, there is also some land adjacent to airport that the GOI Defence ministry occupies. TN has the potential to break through to top most state next to Maharashtra.

"...My decision is driven by my conviction to follow the path and vision of K. Annamalai, whose leadership, integrity, and commitment to public life inspired me to enter politics and continue to influence my political journey..," his letter of resignation reads.

I don't think it's a true "departure".

Decades of Dravidumb brainwashing in TN have resulted in the very brand of BJP/RSS/Hindutva becoming "toxic" there as it truly isn't anywhere else. It doesn't make sense for Annamalai or anyone else to be burdened with the baggage associated with this brand-- not until TN can be politically cleansed of the Dravidumb influence altogether, which is a decades-long project even after securing electoral victory.

This isn't a bad idea elsewhere in India too. Set up non-BJP-but-Hindutva parties to take up more of the opposition space. Sooner or later the left-sickular-BIF axis is going to come up with a leader who is not Rahul Gandhi (or even Kejriwal), and who connects better with a large enough segment of voters to become a problem. The coming period of economic stress (post sanctions, post Iran-Hormuz) is going to be perilous in this regard; if enough people start feeling pain, blame is ultimately going to devolve upon the central government whether fairly or not.

So other parties that are not associated with the centre in name or "brand" but fully nationalistic and Hindutvavadi in ideology are going to become a dire necessity.
Yes, the opposition space needs to be taken up by Hindutva parties that are more focused on Sanatan interest and Sanatan revival while BJP pursues a sabka-saath-sabka-vikas type centrist and development agenda. As long as anti-Bharat and Parivarvad parties like TMC, RJD, SP, Khangress take up opposition space, they will also take up our share of mind by being in news constantly. Their share of our share of mind needs to reduce and eventually become zero.
