Trump is ignorant in thinking that India will have some kind of alliance or strategic partnership with China. India just wants quiet and no Chinese military build up along the border; and stable trading relations where China does not delay shipments of Tunnel Boring Machines or rare earths or pharma inputs or fertilizers in a malicious attempt to slow down India.
Trump is correct in that India will require a formal apology and reparations from the US before it might, maybe, possibly consider a strategic partnership again, and so the US has lost India.

What don dump envisages for India is a colonially contrived, pre-existing vassal status that he thought the britshits had ingrained in us.

Manish ji,
The major takeaway from this mess is that, at the very least, this generation of Indians will never trust the amrikis again.
The congis have not covered themselves in glory, given khadge's and pappooze anti Modi comments
The public mood in India is quite critical of the amrikis and there are millions upon millions of smart phones with crores of Indians giving and getting news of the amriki perfidy and malevolent targeting of India's business interests and the very strong bids to grab India's agri and dairy markets
even the amrikis have not realized the level of Indian public's reactions against the amrikis arising from the unwarranted and repeated insults of India's PM by the don dump govt in general, and dump in particular
though some trade may resume but India, along with the rest of the world will try and diversify away from the amriki markets and not commit too many eggs in the amriki basket
India should not find it hard to diversify, given that Modi ji has a lot of global goodwill in his favor

It'll be very funny to note down when we look back at present events in future -
India bombed Pakis. America put sanction on India in retaliation.
May be it's that simple. We are not willing to look at the bigger picture because reasons. Better treat America as our no. 1 enemy. I will stick to this worst case scenario.

I don't know if it needs more convincing that he is China agent. It'll crumble Taiwan economy and make it an easy take over for panda .
It will crumble US economy along with it. It is an essential commodity and Khan does not have the manufacturing capacity to do it locally with low labor cost. The reason why those companies are manufacturing in other countries is because of the high US labor cost and employment tax. Tariffs are not going to change that fundamentals. He is not a China agent, he is simply a dumbo who does not know fundamentals of economics and trade. Usually politicians elected by the people will listen to experts on policy decisions, but that does not happen here. At some point someone needs to tell the emperor is naked. But in democracies that happens during an election.

Trump’s tariff strategy can be traced to the 1980s.
This is an article from 2019.
A certain Ron vara who was evil 6th cousin of Adam Smith on moms side and Malthus on dads side came up with the idea .

They want to tariff foreign remote work, too. So while say, Microsoft can develop software in India, the services of staff in India providing support to facilities in the US would be tariffed somehow under Navarro’s latest bleats.

https://www.rediff.com/news/report/indi ... 250905.htm India will 'say sorry' and make a deal: Top Trump official
Yoshita Singh, September 05, 2025
Terming India as the ‘vowel' between Russia and China in the BRICS grouping, United States Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick on Friday said New Delhi will be at the negotiating table and will try to make a deal with President Donald Trump in a couple of months.
"So, I think yes, in a month or two months, I think India is going to be at the table, and they're going to say they're sorry, and they're going to try to make a deal with Donald Trump," Lutnick said in an interview with Bloomberg.
"And it will be on Donald Trump's desk how he wants to deal with (Narendra) Modi, and we leave that to him. That's why he's the President,” he added.
......
“What they're doing is, because the oil is sanctioned, it's really, really cheap because the Russians are trying to find people to buy it. And so the Indians have just decided, ‘Ah, the heck with it. Let's buy it cheap and make a ton of money',” he said.
Describing this as “just plain wrong” and “ridiculous”, Lutnick said India needs to decide which side it wants to be on.
When asked if the US is willing to negotiate with India, he said, “We're always willing to talk.”
He went on to say that “the Chinese sell to us. The Indians sell to us. They're not going to be able to sell to each other. We are the consumer of the world. People have to remember, it's our $30 trillion economy that is the consumer of the world. So eventually they all have to come back to the customer, because we all know eventually the customer is always right.”
He said that India doesn't yet want to open its market, stop buying Russian oil and stop being a part of the BRICS.
“They're the vowel between Russia and China (in BRICS). If that's who you want to be, go be it. But either support the dollar, support the United States of America, support your biggest client, who is the American consumer, or I guess you're going to pay a 50% tariff. And let's see how long this lasts,” he said.
When asked about the “hardening of the line” between Trump and Prime Minister Modi and if he sees any type of deal in the next 1-2 months, Lutnick cited the example of Canadian PM Mark Carney, saying he got elected “with this term elbows up, meaning, let's fight with America' but he finally dropped his retaliatory tariffs.
......

That's already the case, most are fully captive centers. He will probably try to squeeze the WITCH companies, but they have shops everywhere now from Srilanka to Poland to Costa Rica, so in the end it will still be a Subramanian or Rohit doing the coding from some corner of the world! The idiot thinks in the era of global computing, it is like turning a switch on or off.
Btw, there's a beeline of USAF planes landing in Pakiland. Expect some shenanigans either inside India or on the borders soon. I guess the decision to prop up the favorite wh0re was made after SCO.

Even renaming "Department of Defense" to "Department of War" needs an act of Congress. So Trump's executive order authorizes the use of "Department of War" as a secondary title, and of course, everyone is directed to use the secondary title only.
US president Donald Trump said on Friday he will always be friends with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling India-US relations a "very special relationship" and adding that there is "nothing to worry about" in the ties between the two countries.
However, Trump also expressed concern over some of Modi’s current actions. He told ANI, "I always will. I'll always be friends with (PM) Modi. He's a great Prime Minister. I'll always be friends, but I just don't like what he is doing at this particular moment. But India and the United States have a very special relationship. There is nothing to worry about. We just have moments on occasion".
Nothing to see here folks. Everybody disperse. It's all over.

On asked about PM's Tweet Dr. S.Jaishankar stated "Well I think PM Modi obviously attaches enormous importance to our partnership with the United States and where President Trump is concerned, he (PM Modi) always had a good personal equation with President Trump. But the point is we remain engaged with the United States. At this stage I can't say more than that."

Lutnick emphasised that the real challenge lies in India’s reluctance to open its markets, curb Russian energy dependence, and distance itself from BRICS — the coalition including Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

'Brahmin' was a curse word for the Americans as far back as 1970-80s. When TN Kaul took up the post of the ambassador to the US, Daniel Moynihan called him 'an arrogant Brahmin' and hoped that he would minimise his 'Brahminical disdain' for America. The latest diatribe has excellent precedent.

Modi should also be a bit more restrained in meeting foreign policy leaders and don't make too much body contact while meeting them. Too much of pappi-jhappi with both Trump and Xi in first term (with physical embrace, clutching hands, etc.) and Modi got slapped by both. Xi invaded and Trump imposed absurd tariffs.

No, it comes across as cringe and desperate! It is realpolitik and not some old school friend that he is meeting! There is a touch of irony, years ago in one of his speeches he commented that he hated how foreign leaders tried to wrap themselves around Indian leaders who were usually much smaller physically, and how it felt belittling to him! Too late already but i wish he would just drop the hand-holding and hugging, none of these foreign leaders care about India or her interests, there is no "special relationship" in geopolitics.

Pappi jhappi is optics only . I have a relative who has been at the business end of modi . Modi is a very hard nosed negotiator and will use very tough language in private including curse words . You really don't want to be at the receiving end of him . Publicly he is the friendly old uncle with Santa Klaus beard etc .
I think the pappi jhappi has been appropriately received . I saw some congee handles making psy-ops about pappu jhappi and his laughing in public in recent times with the goal of portraying him as "dehati" . However his success speaks for itself. From being the dumping ground of the world India is now buying Russian crude and selling diesel to Ukraine . Come a looooong way .

How people see these things are completely different. The perception among the masses matter. Leaders may like or not like it. In the war of narratives driven by people in the era of social media, these things matter a lot. How people see it is as openness, stronger friendship, trust etc. This is not an era when few elite Media control narrative. People drive it today.
