Gen. V K Singh, Jagadambika Pal to join BJP
http://www.saharasamay.com/nation-news/ ... oin-b.html
I am torn about the news. On the one hand, Gen. V K Singh is a fantastic acquisition. I hope the general will lead the BJP in Haryana and clean up the Vadra mess. No one better to lead the BJP in Haryana than Gen. V K Singh. Of course, if he becomes Defence Minister in NaMo government, that would also be fine. It would be ironically fitting that the army faction that did not want him as army chief should now get him as Defence Minister.
On the other hand, Jagadambika Pal makes me ill. He was the defecting Congressi who joined Kalyan's ministry, counter defected to set up the short lived government organised by the charlatan governor Romesh Bhandari, and then counter counter defected to BJP, counter counter counter defected to Cong, and is now counter counter counter counter defecting back to BJP. Is the BJP the garbage heap for refuseniks? The best thing to be done with rats is to drown them in the Saryu, but I suppose that is too much to hope for.

J Pal shouldn't be given any ticket to contest on, IMHO.
Sadhu yadav is toxic waste. If he can be manipulated into leaking RJD's crimes, well and good but no whiff of any understanding with the man, period.

Pal's winnability factor is still high. He can win on his own, has been winning on his own from Cong. I suspect, no matter now much we might hate it, he might get ticket from BJP. Suspect he is coming only because he has been promised ticket from Domariyaganj, or Khalilabad.

I am not sure if he is joining BJP and if he is, we can safely assume that it has the stamp of Kalyan Singh and Amit Shah. There is no way he will be allowed into BJP without the approval of these 2.prahaar wrote:

nageshks ji,
In Ahmedabad recently when NaMo welcomed GPP's merger into BJP, he said, politicians should never think it is the end of the line. They should always look for new ways to serve the people if old ones become unavailable!
NaMo is a consummate politician himself. He is not really there to improve on political morality in India. He very well understands putramoh, funding parties & campaigns, caste factoring, etc. and is more than willing to use all political tools. But he also understands that he needs to make himself invulnerable to them.
NaMo is saying politics is politics, but development and strengthening of Bharat should be common endeavor and cannot become a victim of politics.
It is NaMo's delivery on development and governance on one side and his mastery in political strategy that makes him a deadly force for his enemies!
NaMo is not under any delusion that he will be cleaning the politics of India in one go. No! He will be using one corrupt politician against another! One Paswan against another Nitish! One Sadhu against another Lalu!
Right now he is creating havoc deep behind enemy lines!

Chanakya did the same while gathering the horde to fight with Magadha. All those holding their noses should reflect on real teachings of Chanakya and to the one line zingers which don't convey much wisdom. And think of the post coronation consolidation undertaken.

And people who harp on morality (which is important, but is never the absolute truth in itself, for which everything else can be sacrificed), should look at their life, have they committed any mistakes? immoral acts? thoughts? This is not to say that people holding public office be not held to higher standards, but then there is no one on this planet (save kids 5 years or younger) that will fit the bill. You have to choose among imperfect people, choose the imperfections that you can live with and discard that you cannot. When you discard, look at the alternative, are you holding them to that standard?

Let me make a claim -- Paswan will bring in Pasmanda muslims along with him to BJP. A large section of muslims in Bihar are only Muslims in the most loose sense of the word. They are identical to their pre converted Hindu brethren of maha-dalit demographic.

Cheers. The NDA's significant gains were attributed to a number of
factors, but key was Union Steel, Chemical and Fertilizer
Minister Ram Vilas Paswan's refusal to join the SDF with his Lok
Janashakti Party (LJP). The LJP won had won only 11 seats by
late afternoon. Paswan's split from the SDF drew away much
needed votes and divided the critical Muslim vote - a key vote
bank for Lalu and his RJD. In addition, the JDU, though aligned
with the sectarian BJP, did pick up Muslim votes as well.
President of the All India Pasmanda Muslim Mahaz Anwar Ali said
he believed the Muslim vote had completely splintered.

If he can win (and from a BJP ticket), to me thats the only thing that matters at this stage. Guys, we are fighting a battle for independence and every seat matters. Its not like 10-20% bjp candidates are like this. All these new joinees/defectors/gundas will at best be 5% of the BJP candidates. We need to learn how to deal with them, thats all.nageshks wrote:Hari-ji,Hari Seldon wrote:^Wonder who in the sangh is processing these new joinees... Not going to happen. Annaji is a good man, no doubt. But he is trying to relive a dream; as someone said, he is trying to be a MKG of these times and his run to Mamata is just an attempt to remain relevant.Victor wrote:If Anna Hazare doesn't back Gen VK Singh after he backed the spoiler Mamata for absolutely no good reason, I'll consider him to be a spoiler plant too just like AK420.
Fordiwal and his nincompoops brought this man out of Ralegaon Siddhi by brainwashing him and painting a picture that he will be the new "grand uncle of the nation". He drank too much of that kool aid and is desperately clutching at straws.
He claims he wrote to all the leaders amend only Mamatadi responded. Well, what did he write? In all likelihood, it was a plea. Ignored by others except Mamatadi.
He has realised he was only expected to play an enabler mascot role for Fordiwal and gang. In denial, he is fighting for some space. I see the day not very far off when he will fade into the sunset, fighting his own demons in the village of Ralegaon Siddhi. Pity!

Oh ye of little faith! Anna Hazare being put to pasture has already been foretold by our very own Rudradev several months back:
See for example:
]viewtopic.php?f=1&t=6078&p=1152333&hilit=NAC+Anna+pasture#p1152333
In the inimitable words of Rudradev:
"So the "outsiders" took advantage of the popular mood, and roped in the old Gandhian activist, Anna Hazare, to be their figurehead. They said, "let us put on a show to embarrass the insiders over the corruption/scam issues... then, to avoid further embarrassment, Sonia might allow us to become insiders also!" At that point everything would have been smoothed over, insider-outsider power sharing compromise would have been reached, old Anna would have been put out to pasture, and everyone would be back to business as usual."

The three-member committee headed by K N Lakshmanan, which the BJP state unit had set up to negotiate with the DMDK, concluded its talks with senior DMDK leaders and its youth wing secretary and Vijayakanth’s brother-in-law L K Sudeesh on Thursday. Both the parties appeared to have been satisfied with the seat sharing arrangement between them.

OBCs, Muslims ready to ditch SP in east UP: Asian Age
Heavy police presence, shops with shutters down, small groups of men whispering to each other early Thursday morning at Mohammadpur, in Lalgunj Lok Sabha constituency, was a clear sign of an uneasy calm. On Monday clashes between two communities over a minor issue claimed the life of a youth in this area. Anger against the administration and rage against the ruling Samajwadi Party were evident in this Muslim belt. Lalgunj and Azamgarh are two adjacent Lok Sabha constituencies in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
It was clear that the Muslims of Mohammadpur were ready to abandon SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, who is already reeling under a gradual shift of the Yadav vote bank towards the BJP. But the minority community of Mohammadpur was not shifting either to the BSP or the Congress. Block Development Committee president Muhammed Nagman seethed: “We have had enough of BSP and SP and Congress.” They are looking at the Ulama Council or Aam Aadmi Party. Rashtriya Ulama Council (RUC), popularly known as the Ulama Council, came into existence as a protest group after two youth from Azamgarh were killed in the Batla House encounter in 2008. The following year, the RUC contested Lok Sabha polls on five seats. Though it failed to win a single seat, reports indicated that the outfit secured nearly 2.25 lakh votes. The Azamgarh district administration on Wednesday prevented the RUC from holding a meeting near Mohammadpur following Monday’s violence.
While the AAP’s presence is somewhat symbolic, it seemed the RUC was likely to reap the benefit of Muslim rage against Mulayam. Yet again with the Muslim votes moving away from the SP, BSP and Congress to a fourth alternative, it could mean advantage saffrons. What came as a surprise was that the minorities in this area were not losing sleep over BJP rule at the Centre or in their constituency. “Hame koi farak nahi parta (It makes no difference to us),” said Abdul Fazal, sitting beside Nagman. “All these political parties, who were trying scare us with impending BJP rule, are no better,” Nagman butted in. By this time a good number of people had gathered with the police watching from a distance. Someone from the crowd shouted “Modi toh hamare khula dushman hain... baki sab chhupe dushman hain (Modi is our declared enemy... the others are hidden enemies).” “Theek, theek (Right right),” the crowd echoed. “What about Muzaffarnagar,” another pointed out. “The SP is as bad as the BJP,” others said.
The SP is in a catch-22 situation. If Yadavs, OBCs and a section of dalits are angry with Mulayam Singh for his “Muslim appeasement”, a section of Muslims are angry about the “lack of development and the corruption among the leaders”. When asked about various schemes for minorities rolled out by the Akhilesh Yadav government, they said “nothing has worked”. Lack of infrastructure, unemployment and poverty have the Muslim of Mohammadpur (over one lakh) on the edge. They seemed determined to vote against the usual political outfits “knowing fully well that the RUC might not win”. Nagman then said: “Yadavs think Mulayam Singh is inclined towards us and that’s why they are moving to the BJP. They are wrong, we too are fed up of being used only as a vote bank by political parties.”
A few kilometres ahead of Mohammadpur lies Beloun (under Lalgunj Lok Sabha seat), a Pasi village. The Pasi are one of the “untouchable communities” (or dalits) who are now classified as a Schedule Caste. There are over 50,000 Pasis in this village and they had voted hugely in favour of the SP in 2009. Here again the SP’s reported Muslim appeasement moves have “upset” the Pasis. Lakshman Pasi, principal of “Baba Bantikar Dhaneshwar High School” at a place called Khorram, softly indicated that this time if the BJP puts up Daroga Saroj, a Pasi candidate from Lalgunj seat, he and many others would vote for the saffron party. “We will vote for a Pasi candidate, not Modi, not BJP,” he said. But other Pasis in Beloun village did not share the principal’s sentiments.
Kamlesh Kumar, a local Pasi leader, though “disapproving” of the SP’s pro-Muslim stance, felt a large number of his community could vote for the BSP. For him, “The BSP, with a combination of dalits and a large section of Muslims, is emerging as the only force which can halt Modi in UP.” When told the BJP is against Muslim appeasement, Kamlesh shot back: “Rajnath Singh now says he is ready to apologise to Muslims by bowing his head.”
A dalit SP leader, aware of the party’s declining fortunes in the state, observed: “Yadavs are the most who benefited under Mulayam. They are shifting for political reasons and want to be with the party in power. OBCs, dalits and Muslims are fed up of false promises and feel they are victims of vote-bank politics. They need results, sincere efforts to uplift them. Barring a few most aspire for a better life, which we have failed to provide.”

So I wonder why Modi gave a good BJP seat away!
So 4 seats that BJP gave to LJP were seats where BJP felt their chances of winning were low!The BJP agreed to leave Hajipur from where Mr Paswan contests, Jamui from where Mr Chirag Paswan will fight and Samastipur from where younger brother of the LJP chief, Mr Ram Chandra Paswan, will be fielded in the Lok Sabha elections.
In addition, the LJP got Khagaria, Munger, Vaishali and Nalanda Lok Sabha seats. Incidentally, these four seats are stronghold of the JD(U) and the RJD. The Nalanda seat was earlier represented by Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar and is currently with the JD(U).

Re: Statewide and National runup to 2014 General elections
Viderbha split will be godsend to BJP. For one, contiguous zone RJ, GJ, MP, CG with Viderbha dominated by dharmik forces. Devendra Phadnavis will be Viderbha's NaMo.ShyamSP wrote:
It is not Reverse Mandal but continuation of Mandal. Congress goal is to move 99 people to the poor and reservation category to stick it to the final 1 man.
- Karnataka - done
- AP - major ops are done - quota ops are still left
- Maharastra - still several ops left
After AP split, Congress is encouraging BC quota for Kapus. In Maha it will follow similar tactics - Vidharba split and reservations.
If Brihanmumbai is expected to stay Sena bastion, what is left is interior MH. Marathwada is too much Islamic. Don't know what to do about that.
Atri ji is more switched on about the dynamics.
