Levant crisis - III
Re: Levant crisis - III
indeed the YPG held enclaves of Afrin got arms ammo from russians and protected backside of Nubl and Zahra until the hezbollah came, and their Sheikh maqsood enclave in aleppo is protected on its back side by SAA who provide them ammo and food and jointly took the castello road last month.
Re: Levant crisis - III
Hasaka is mostly provincial people, ancient laws and local tribe leaders rule there, this is widely misunderstood by many, there is no single Rojava/SDF force, it is a fragile blend and the Syrian Kurds are the minority, and if they are close to have internal fractions (which by the way it has been the story of the Kurds for centuries-internal war among factions), this fragile alliance under SDF may fall apart in no time.
The most important factor in all this Hasaka mess is that the Syrian Government was fast in reacting with strength, this has shown to the US and SDF that there will be a price to pay from now onwards. I bet Russia will have some helis or AA shipped to Qamishli airbase very soon.
Another piece of info is that Kurds among SDF that have relationship with Russia are complaining the US has prohibited any contact with Russia, that is funny since the leaders of Afrin and Sheikh Maksud are in close contact with Russia and Syria Government, in other word, this is a bigger mess then what is seems.
BTW, there is a on going meeting at Qamishli among the parties to calm things down in Hasaka.

Kerry's going to have some explaining to do next time he meets Lavrov.
Americans forbid SDF from communicating with Russia.
https://twitter.com/miladvisor/status/7 ... 9665690624
SDF is almost 50% Syrian Arab who would switch to NDF (SAA) in a jiffy if
PYD/YPG/Kurd demands of disbanding NDF/Syrian Govt authority in Hasakah are even accepted by Syrian govt.
Keep in mind that Iran has put down, by force, a Kurdish uprising few weeks ago in NW Iran, this event was totally missed by MSM and alternative media and was one of the many attempts to induce more war to the region.
The most likely near future alliance between Russia-Iran-Turkey will be based on the principal of no Kurdish State anywhere, Iraq and Syria Governments are following closely this possible alliance since there will be serious impact to both countries.
NATO, US driven, is attempting a last card which is to empower the Kurds in Syria to go for an independent State, this attempt is viewed by Turkey as a declaration of war since it involves strengthening PKK (which is called by the EU/US as a terrorist organization).
The situation in Hasaka city, if not solved nicely under a ceasefire, it has the potential to go wild with the possibility of US/NATO intervention against Syrians which in fact would be understood as a declaration of war and the UN charter would be once more ignored, another aspect is Iranian-Syrian deal against foreign attacks and Russian response. All of this with Turkey-US-NATO relationship at its lowest and Iraq forces about to be ISIS free by early 2017.

Re: Levant crisis - III
any attempt from the US to shot down a Syrian jet is a declaration of war and will be responded with more fighters and bombers in the area, not to forget that Syria has advanced AA and US jets may be easily hit.
if Syrian armed forces are attacked by the Unkil over Syrian airspace. Yakhonts still sit on Syria's coast, aimed at impossible-to-defend US warships.
Last but not least, KSA is in deep problem, Yemenis/Houtis received large quantities of firepower from Russia and Iran, the war now is no longer in Yemen, it is inside southern KSA and moving up fast toward Riyadh.

an alternate view on the refugee crises
The so called “refugee crisis” is cover for ethnic cleansing aka forced removal of Arabs and other indigenous persons from their ancestral lands! Destruction and theft of their culture and history- A process that was initiated with the creation of Israel and continues on through to today. This explains why Israel refuses to take any refugees.

Israel has been playing kurds against Syria since 2011.

Russia has vacated hamadan base after failing to get a long term lease...
Re: Levant crisis - III
Don't think Russia trusts Iran or vice versa much. They both have their own interests. Russia has no problem with Kurds but same cannot be said of iran and turkey.
Re: Levant crisis - III
That was super weird. I mean Russia dropped the ball when they were about to squeeze the US testimonials in Aleppo the first time. It's jarring to see them acquiesce to US negotiators at critical moments. Debalstvo / AleppoSingha wrote:Russia has vacated hamadan base after failing to get a long term lease...
The few months got them all supplied and in defensive positions. It's just so strange. They were about to lock down the border, evn if they lose some territory inside, they should have locked down the border and then the "rebels" wither away.
Should have wrapped this ages ago.

Despite above,Syrian government officials reportedly met with YPG and Asayish leaderships in the Russian Hmeimim Base to negotiate a lasting ceasefire under Russian supervision.Three main points were agreed upon:
1. The security box in Hasakah is to remain under the control of the local police force while Brigades 121 and 123 in Kawkab region in eastern Hasakah are to be under the control of the Syrian Army.
2. Asayish units are to withdraw to their previous points of control.
3. Police stations to be given back to police officeers and interior ministry forces to be given the role of protecting governmental institutions including the prisons and immigration/passport offices.

Re: Levant crisis - III
make of it what you will. But Russia had announced withdrawal/ scaling down syria ops in past. And look at how that turned out. It seems USA has a plan to include any iranian bases let out to third countries as bargaining chips in upcoming talks.
http://www.fort-russ.com/2016/08/deciph ... -from.html
http://www.fort-russ.com/2016/08/deciph ... -from.html
The US was likely to use the existence of a Russian base as a bargaining chip in any upcoming ceasefire talks, which Russia has recently indicated it would be willing to enter into on a pilot basis. Indeed, following this track, the Russian announcement may be taken as a clear sign that specific terms of a ceasefire will be negotiated in the very near future.

Re: Levant crisis - III
there are too many well funded and deadly players in the mix for any ceasefire.
AQ and IS will never ceasefire. nor will their GCC sponsors back off on funding.
both US and Russia are powerless to stop this bloodbath.
Syria will likely continue in this mode for years until all able bodied men and boys are dead. the YPJ women might get to rule over the ruins.

Not long ago, they asked how they got Iraq so wrong (answer, they were mega-phones for war profiteers and totally abdicated their responsibility as journalists) and now they are recklessly spewing the exact same type of of inflammatory distortions and spin with Russia, Syria, Iran.
The use of the Aleppo Syrian child photo is a horrific example of the corporate media utilizing emotional manipulation to drive support of US military invasionism which will CREATE more of the same.

It may be a bit OT, but Obomber got the US in a reasonable good condition internationally except the Iraq and Afghan mess and with the help of HC and Kerry created an additional mess in Lybia, Syria, Yeman and allowed N.Korea to become nuclear. If HC wins, Yeman may fall to mercenaries paid by Saudi money unless Russia supports it. I think Yemenis are just ensuring that they keep Russian support in place before Nov 2016.
Re: Levant crisis - III
as per bbc's latest aleppo is full of babies and tiny tots walking around in streets unattended & begging for toys.
when the city was in hands of isis and nusra it was paradise for these kids. Now they are in so much danger with SAA trying to get the city rid of these terrorists.
believe it or not, the only bright spot in the lives of these kids is when this week some aid workers from finland got them toys.
this is high quality of prop one is used to from bbc, esp because nobody can counter this without someone standing up for those innocent children.
