Ohh , Now I understood the confusion. I didn't meant that it was stolen by us. What I meant is that we would have got hold of this information and chose a time to leak it.Esp when China is itching to do nook deal and USA sitting with PAk to decide AF-PAK. I think its a case of poor choice of sentence.

Radioactive gamma projectile is nothing but a source of Gamma radiation used for medical or lab purposes. Just as Cobalt-60 is a Gamma projectile, i.e. it projects( radiates) gamma rays. Co-60 pencils which had gone missing from DU is one such source. Pakis could have lost iy in similar ways. They would like to keep it secret unlike India where press had gone all over town over death of persons and obvious negligence of DU stalwarts. Pakis have no such benefits of free media. That is why leaking this news is sensational as if they might have something to hide and question their safety protocols.

BTW this could be used in dirty boms

As said before, Most likely they used the less common word "projectile' (vs say irradiatior or "projector" )
Also likely that this could be one of "gamma ray projector" used to detect welding or type defects in pipes etc.. (Ghotki is home to few industries like Engro Chemicals and Fauji Fertilizers and their Oil and Gas Development Corporation etc).. With Radioactive source like Co-60, Iridium-192, Selenium-75 for the source..

US drone attacks kill 13 in Pakistan
Two US drone attacks in northwest Pakistan have left at least 13 people killed in the volatile tribal area, leaving several others wounded.

Local officials told Press TV that a US drone fired three missiles on the office of a militant commander in Azam Warsak area on Tuesday, leaving at least five people dead and several injured.

Earlier in the day a US drone left 8 people dead in the same region.

Earlier on Monday, a retired Pakistani Army general told Press TV that the relentless US attacks on Pakistan's tribal areas are in violation of the country's 'territorial integrity.'

"Our people do not like the presence of the United States in our country and they do not like these drone attacks," retired Pakistani Army General Zakir Ali Zaidi said.

What is with Pakistan that it manages to produce so many chipmunks?
From Bhutto to Zia to Qureshi to Ijaz Butt, at every level of governance, in every sphere...
boy there must be something in that fertile land.
Couldn't believe my ears when I saw on CNN , Ijaj Butt doing an equal equal with English and Pakistani players regarding corruption.
Its mind boggling.

"Lord Nazir Ahmed of Rotherham is a Pakistan-born Labour peer and chair of the All Parties Parliamentary Group for Kashmir"
A short discription of "He is a inbred Paki" should suffice. So He writes in the Guardian:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree ... ia-nuclear
At the moment, the Pakistani army is protecting Kashmiris from the curfew and horrific abuses by the Indian army in an effort to maintain stability in the region. As a result, the Pakistani army's efforts are mainly directed at protecting Kashmir and the not the "war on terror". :rotfl:

Over the past few months, the conflict in Kashmir has escalated and erupted in horrific violence and could turn into a hotbed of nuclear attacks.

From MEA's website
India rejects resolutions on J&K by Pak Assembly and Senate

21/09/2010

In response to a question the Official Spokesperson said,

“We have seen reports of resolutions on Jammu & Kashmir that have been passed in the National Assembly and the Senate of Pakistan. We reject these resolutions. They have no locus standi on what is purely an internal affair of India.

Pakistan should tackle the issues of constitutional safeguards, democracy, extremism, terrorism and human rights violations in the part of Jammu & Kashmir under its illegal occupation.

In the spirit of true rationality, India desires good neighbourly relations with Pakistan. We are committed to resolving all outstanding issues through dialogue. Crucially, Pakistan must fulfill its stated commitment of not allowing territory under its control to be used for terrorism directed against India in any manner.”

Even mother Clinton dont care about Panda Puttar Poakland.
Here's the part that no one seems to be getting around to until the fourth paragraph: Secretary of State Clinton was at the UN to discuss disaster relief for Pakistan and Haiti. The controversial images portrayed a meeting with Norway's Foreign Minister, Britain's International Development Secretary, and members of the State Department. She was also presumably gearing up for a meeting with Ahmadinejad. In other words, this is a serious visit. Here are a few choice quotes describing the event:
"The secretary of state's chic coif was nowhere to be seen as she arrived at the United Nations over the weekend with her hair clipped back.""Mrs Clinton's hair was scraped back and clipped on top of her head, but looked lank and in need of some love and understanding.""With minimal make-up, Mrs Clinton's 63 years came into sharp focus as she moved neatly from urging Pakistan to mend its reputation to an attempt to undermine Mr Ahmadinejad within his own country."

If there is some equal equal, this is unnerving incident. pakis can claim they lost it in a similar fashion and this could come back to us in the form of a dirty bomb. ofcourse non - state actors will be involved.

what if it actually happens?? what will be our response then?? more dossiers??

should we take this to deterrence thread?

Karachi’s trauma
It is now well-nigh impossible to detect a pattern in the anarchy sweeping Karachi. Ethnic, sectarian and political lines are getting blurred and the one consistent reality is the rising number of fatalities. Those who have fallen in several days of violence include activists of the MQM, ANP and Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat, the new name for the proscribed Sipah-i-Sahaba, besides pedestrians caught in crossfire.
Whether the violence in one area was a reaction to similar incidents elsewhere or whether somebody was trying to ignite ethnic and sectarian violence is a question begging an answer.

England players' strike averted; Riaz, Trott come to blows
England selectors were preparing to choose a second team if the main eleven had refused to play in yesterday's fourth ODI against Pakistan at the Lord's but such a possibility was averted at the last minute, the British media reported today.

But what could not be averted was the simmering tensions between the two sides coming to surface during a net session before the match.

Riaz, who was questioned by the Scotland Yard for his alleged involvement in the spot-fixing scandal that has marred Pakistan's tour, was walking past Trott during the session when the England batsman reportedly taunted him.

"How much are you going to make from the bookies today?" Trott reportedly asked Riaz.
An enraged Riaz responded by making a comment about Trott's family. The two players then threw their batting pads at each other before grabbing each other by the throat in full public view.
:rotfl: :rotfl:
The squabbling pair had to be separated England batting coach Graham Gooch, who pushed Trott away and put an arm around Riaz.
Good that the Brits are seeing the true Pakistaniyat after sympathizing with them and allowing them to have "neutral series" etc

Well, lest we forget, the Briturds nurtured the ars-viper that is TSP and carefully, calibratedly and righteously set it loose upon a Yindia back in '47 and thence onwards. The turds more than anyone else, ought to full well know pakistaniyat up close and center. They helped lab-design and field-deploy it, after all.

'The cancer is in Pakistan' - Like we don't know that already.

Obama campaigned on a promise to extract U.S. forces from Iraq and focus on Afghanistan and Pakistan, which he described as the greater threat to American security. At McConnell's top-secret briefing for Obama, the intelligence chief told the president-elect that Pakistan is a dishonest partner, unwilling or unable to stop elements of the Pakistani intelligence service from giving clandestine aid, weapons and money to the Afghan Taliban, Woodward writes.

By the end of the 2009 strategy review, Woodward reports, Obama concluded that no mission in Afghanistan could be successful without attacking the al-Qaeda and Afghan Taliban havens operating with impunity in Pakistan's remote tribal regions.

"We need to make clear to people that the cancer is in Pakistan," Obama is quoted as saying at an Oval Office meeting on Nov. 25, 2009. Creating a more secure Afghanistan is imperative, the president said, "so the cancer doesn't spread" there.

The war in Iraq draws no attention in the book, except as a reference point for considering and developing a new Afghanistan strategy. The book's title, "Obama's Wars," appears to refer to the conflict in Afghanistan and the conflicts among the president's national security team.

Will the world unilaterally deny Pakis of nuke power? will there be any steps from world be initiated to strip nuke burqa off pakis naked? If all these are in the interest of India..shouldn't GoI put efforts in this direction?

This gamma bomb will not cause enough damage to trigger a retaliation. So it will be used to game a JDAM attack inside Indian territory. Depending on India's response the real JDAM attack can be planned. I hope GOI has enough blank dossiers in stock.

Labour has been in power for the past 13 years and you are right when you say it has been the "British" viewpoint. But Cameron seems to see things differently as was evident in his speech in India. He steered away from Kashmir but his message was clear. It shows that the coalition knows what is happening.
BTW, a gentle reminder. The Labour prince, banana-man, Milliband was the one who mentioned that the peace in west of TSP lies in the east. So this isn't new.

Here is a very serious UK defence scenario study about several flashpoints that might involve UK forces. One deals with a civil war situ in Pak,strangely and mistakenly expecting a "Chinese carrier" to be part of an international task force in dealing with the crisis considered "very likely".Another with Iran. Both have the potential to also involve India in some way or the other, pak directly and Iran indirectly as most of our energy comes form the Gulf.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstop ... y-out.html

Strategic Defence and Security Review: four future scenarios and how they might play out
Thomas Harding, The Daily Telegraph's Defence Correspondent, looks at four possible future scenarios for Britain's armed forces.

Xcpts:
The future is grim, full of muscle-flexing former superpowers, emerging global powers, nuclear attacks, cyber warfare and the inevitability of climate-related conflict. At least, those are the images in the crystal ball consulted by defence planners, who have the near-impossible job of predicting future threats and the Armed Forces needed to meet them.

The assumption before we got bogged down in Iraq and Afghanistan was that if you made forces for the high end of warfare, they could easily adjust to low-end fighting. The streets of Basra and the compounds of Helmand disproved that idea, as the death toll among forces ill-equipped and poorly trained for counter insurgency became apparent.

September 11 2001, British forces were configured largely as an unwieldy armoured force, with fast jets and frigates to fight a Soviet threat. For nearly a decade that equipment has barely been used but the threats are too numerous to do away with the big guns. “We have the prospect of a major war in the 21st century,” says Professor Gwyn Prins, the future conflict specialist at the London School of Economics.

The MoD’s seminal document, the Future Character of Conflict, predicts that by 2029, control over resources will “increase the incidence of conflict”, as world population rises to 8.3 billion. Boundary disputes, such as in the Arctic, Gulf of Guinea and South Atlantic will “become inextricably linked to securing energy supplies”, with Britain “critically dependent upon energy imports”. This will demand “strong regional influence and, if necessary, the ability to project and maintain military power”. The paper warns of high-end warfare (without mentioning Iran). It adds (without mentioning China) that “it cannot be assumed that the West will retain sufficient military advantage over rising powers in all circumstances, which may embolden actors where previously they had been deterred.” The possession of nuclear weapons “perceived as essential for survival and status” will remain “a goal of many aspiring powers”.
PAKISTAN 2018

• Crisis: A civilian government has been elected after five years’ military dictatorship but the generals have refused to hand over the codes and keys for the nuclear arsenal. The ousted military seize the missile silos. The Pakistan army splinters, with those loyal to the generals joining a pact with the Taliban who are sharing power with a new government in Afghanistan. Most of the country is overrun by the rebels. A main supply route is cut off to the remaining Nato troops in Afghanistan.

• Response: The UN authorises a multi-national stabilisation force led by a US division and fleet, with a Chinese task force with its new aircraft carrier in the coalition. After three years of recovery from bloody fighting in Helmand, Britain agrees to send one of its five new manoeuvre brigades, equipped with tanks, mine-protected vehicles, armed drones and a fleet of attack and transport helicopters. In the Indian Ocean, two Type 45 destroyers, re-equipped with new anti-ballistic missiles from the US Navy, act as a last-ditch defence against a nuclear missile launch.

• Outcome: F35 Joint Strike Fighters (pictured above) are launched from US and British aircraft carriers against the missile silos. But the rebels manage to launch two nuclear warheads at an installation near Karachi towards Mumbai, 300 miles away. Both are shot down, one by a US warship and one by a Type 45 destroyer. A joint US, British and Chinese amphibious assault storms ashore to the west of Karachi and captures key airfields. In all, 10,000 men are flown in by the RAF’s new transport fleet. An international force of more than 100,000 troops retakes rebel-held areas. The UN force agrees to maintain security for two years while it trains up a stable Pakistani military.

• Likelihood: Very likely
• Readiness: Almost ready

IRAN 2016
• Crisis: Iran has finally built an arsenal of nuclear weapons and quietly threatens to use them against other Gulf States unless they agree to increase its OPEC quota on oil exports. As platforms in the Gulf come under military threat, oil prices rise dramatically threatening world economies only just recovered from recession. Iran also reveals it has developed highly capable surface-to-air missiles.

• Response: A closed session of the UN Security Council’s Permanent Five agrees a surgical strike action against four installations where missiles have been built or are deployed. Iran’s highly successful “anti-access” policy of sea and land mines, air defence and sea swarm attack means that a conventional invasion is impossible.

• Outcome: Royal Navy Astute submarines (pictured above) launch Tomahawk Block V “bunker buster” cruise missiles. For the first time RAF Eurofighter Typhoons fly combat sorties — out of Al Udeid airbase in Qatar. They strike surface-to-air missile vehicles and radar installations pin-pointed by SAS and US Delta Force covertly inserted close to the installations using high-altitude parachutes, flying in from 20 miles away to dodge radar. American carrier-borne F18 Super Hornets carry out similar strikes. A helicopter assault force shuttled by a dozen Chinooks from assault ship Ocean lands paratroopers and Royal Marines from the new Operational Assault Brigade on to one of the nuclear sites through an air corridor cleared of SAMs. Similar air assaults are undertaken by US forces at the other three sites, which are also destroyed — knocking out Iran’s nuclear strike capability. The Tehran government is toppled by an uprising assisted by Shias in Iraq’s government.

• Likelihood: Likely
• Readiness: Ready

Delhi police Special Cell arrests Pak spy from a village in the Capital

Is this another form of outsourcing? With the intelligence set-up in India facing constant flak, Delhi police seems to have found an ally in the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). The Special Cell of Delhi police has arrested a Pakistani Spy from Samalkha village of Delhi. The CIA had passed on relevant information to authorities here. This is not the first time the Americans have helped Indian security agencies.

The accused Sajjad Haider alias Mohd Parvez was arrested on the 14th of this month from Delhi. The accused was carrying a fake Indian Visa.

"We received information from CIA about the Pakistani spy hiding in Delhi. Then we developed the inputs about the accused and arrested him from Samalkha village. Confidential documents related to Indian Army, a fake Indian driving license, an Indian PAN card on fake identity along with Western Union money transfer receipts, rent agreements, mobile SIM cards, phones etc have also been recovered from his possession and from his rented accommodation in Samalkha," said a police officer.

In the interrogation the accused allegedly revealed that he is a Pakistani national who had been sent on a spying mission to India by his Pak-based handlers and he had been asked to collect information regarding movements of armed forces and details of cantonment areas of Punjab.

"He was trained in military trade craft by ISI agents for five months at Lahore. After arriving in India he immediately gathered the forged documents. He revealed that he entered into India illegally via Indo-Bangladesh Border in September 2009 and came to Delhi. He went about the task of procuring forged identity documents for himself which would facilitate him in creating a base for carrying out his mission successfully.

He also revealed that as per the instructions of his Pakistani mentors, he had received the confidential documents/information from another source in Delhi and the same was to be sent to one of his Pakistani handlers via Dubai (UAE) through courier," the officer added.

JOINT OPERATION
On August 23, city cops arrested Mohammad Shah Jalal from Majnu Ka Tila in north Delhi and busted a fake visa racket in the process. The inputs came from CIA. "We received secret information from the CIA about a Bangladeshi national involved in human trafficking with fake Nepali visas to send citizens of his own country to other nations," said a police officer.

The European Parliament has approved a controversial agreement that will make it easier for EU nations to return illegal immigrants from Pakistan back to their homeland.

The European Parliament backed the readmission accord Tuesday with a vote of 382 to 250. Twenty-three members opted not to vote.

Under the accord, any EU readmission request not answered by Pakistan within 60 days will be considered accepted. Pakistan also will have to justify any refusal for readmission.

....

The European Commission estimates that about 13,000 Pakistani citizens have been arrested in EU nations without proper documentation.

The measure calls for the EU and Pakistan to engage in dialogue on legal immigration and visa policy.

The European Parliament's approval of the agreement follows eight years of negotiation with Pakistan.

....But as Hugh Robertson, the Sports minister, made clear yesterday this was no longer about mere sport. ....

"Had the series been cancelled it would have had very serious implications to England-Pakistan relations not just in sport but across the piece. Pakistan have major issues to deal with, such as the floods and terrorism, and this was not the time for a country like us, whose role should be still to support them, to play any part in trying to kick them out."

This is a coalition, then, which positively discourages England's cricketers from playing Zimbabwe yet virtually insists that they play Pakistan. ....

A_Gupta ji,

Sir Creek Dispute has ramification on the demarcation of our maritime boundary, our exclusive economic zone and our continental shelf. This is just the kind of issue that fits into the India - The Indian Ocean Civilization & IOR Thread.

I thought that the prevailing belief in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan was that their citizens were the well nourished and fair ones and the citizens of India were the hungry and dark ones :-? .

Dr Shireen Mazari, editor of the Nation dredges up a great conspiracy theory namely one that the IMF is “deliberately pushing the masses into a state of anger and eventual revolt which would lead to people coming on the streets and causing further destabilisation in the country” :

A hungry, dark & illiterate Pakistan

Gupta ji,

Apologies, but you missed the more juicy part of the story.
The last part of the tour has been conducted in an acrimonious air of unreality and the England and Wales Cricket Board undoubtedly feel grievously disillusioned with the country to which it extended a hand of friendship. Such depths have been plumbed that the captain of England, Andrew Strauss, is seriously contemplating legal action to ensure the maintenance of his good name.

Pakistan arrived in the country in late June as honoured guests. They leave having been considered to have thrown the hospitality back in their hosts' faces. England offered Pakistan a haven because the terrorist threat and general instability has made it impossible for them to play at home. No international team would travel there.

So Pakistan came first to play four matches – two Tests, two Twenty20s – against Australia. Giles Clarke, the chairman of the ECB, was proud and happy to promote the cause and insisted that they would be welcome for other neutral matches next year and for the years to come.

Not now, not for a long time. The tour slipped headlong into cataclysm when spot-fixing allegations were made last month. Clarke made his feelings of rejection plain on the morning they were published by declining to shake the hand and barely being able to look at one of the accused, the teenager Mohammad Aamer, as he presented him a man of the series award after the fourth Test.

It was that Test in which Aamer and his fellow fast bowler, Mohammad Asif, are alleged to have bowled no-balls to order with the collusion of their captain, Salman Butt. All three have been suspended by the ICC while investigations are concluded but it does not look good for them.

The NatWest Series of one-day matches has continued uncomfortably. But the tour took another dreadful turn last Friday when, after The Oval one-day match, scoring patterns in Pakistan's innings were said to have matched a pre-arranged plan involving illegal bookies. Pakistan won the match by 23 runs.

Information was passed by The Sun to the ICC, which felt it has no choice but to launch an inquiry. {So the buggers continued to do the same despite the earlier controversy. If this is so then I think it's clear that everyone including officials are involved - which means it's controlled out of Karachi} Since when, all hell has been let loose again. Ijaz Butt, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, conversely accused England's players of throwing the Oval match "for enormous amounts of money" and England almost called off the tour.
I hope ECB remembers the old American parable: The mouth which bites the hand which feeds it usually licks the boot which kicks it.

It is not an unreal possibility that their entire board is involved and they cannot stop even after 3 of them were disgraced and sent back, for the fear of the money at stake (?) and maybe underworld pressures. What can one say about a nation whose PM has stashes of cash in his cabinets (reported in their own news papers) and his wife travels loaded with it. And the poor children starve at their cost..
