Congress plans 5 lakh-strong army of web warriors
NEW DELHI: Anxious to expand its digital footprint to take on an entrenched BJP, Congress is set to recruit an army of five lakh web warriors with the idea of amplifying its message across social media platforms.
Sources said Congress will soon launch a campaign “join Congress social media” across India in what would be a large recruitment drive. The party will interview respondents out of which it’ll pick five lakh people as volunteers. Of them, the party’s social media department will appoint 50,000 office bearers at district, state and national level, while the other 4.5 lakh persons would form the network of Congress workers who will help push the party message with “coherence and in one voice”.
Congress appears to have woken up to the importance of social media after the corona pandemic and the ensuing lockdown forced the party indoors and to carry out its activities through YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and WhatsApp. The 10-month-long experience has left the party leadership somewhat relieved that despite its weak social media presence as compared to the ruling BJP, it managed to regularly convey its message to people through “speak up “ campaigns.
Now, it wants to build on that experience with an eye on future. “We have realised that this is the best way to beef up our social media team nationally with penetration down to district level. There is a big section of population that wants to fight for Congress values and we are just tapping into that segment,” a Congress office-bearer said.
These web warriors would also be given training in booth management and grassroots activities.

Rhetoric is music to the ears, ignoring MP's of a potential trade deal signatory doesn't bode well. Optics and perception matter, you can of course cover your ears with a pillow and pretend not to hear the noise outside. Asking millions of your citizens overseas to 'lie low' indefinitely is hardly sound in the long term. We ought to learn from our enemies(Pakistan) and friends (Israel) on how to manage media perception, and lobby in the corridors of power.

So Mia Khalifa was asked to support the farmer's protest. Ya Allah, what a fine moment in history.
Truly our country is blessed. Next up we should get Piper Perri, Johnny Sins and entire Blacked team to extend their support.

It’s no coincidence that the world’s oldest democracy was attacked not even a month ago, and as we speak, the most populous democracy is under assault. This is related. We ALL should be outraged by India’s internet shutdowns and paramilitary violence against farmer protesters.

On the contrary, any country that wants a trade deal with India is keen to tap into the agro sector. The silence by the US and EU admin is because they know they have to back the reforms if they want a slice of the pie. Blinken would not have waited to issue a statement at the rate at which he is going. BoJo's popularity has taken a severe beating for their mishandling of the response to Covid, he's desperate to find something to cheer the industry.
Meanwhile under the radar, the food corridor with UAE is taking shape nicely.

Ohh ! The irony of Greta Thunberg, Rihaana and Mia Khalifa (yes, Mia Khalifa!) tweeting in support of protestors ! If you put all 3 of them in a room they'll fight for the 2 grey cells they share between them. After November elections in US many of us had said the next few months to an year will be rocky for Modi govt because the global left will now set their sights on India, and it is coming true. It is imperative that the government does not yield an inch, do not invite for more talks and carry on governing. 99.9% of our population has to work for a living (including our ultra corrupt babus and afsars), let the 0.001% squat on the highways and keep paying off ***** stars to tweet in their favor.

Just trying to connect the two dots. Are there more people now at Delhi border with Haryana? There have been many incidents in Haryana where various government functions have been scuttled by large group of protestors. And it is also Haryana that a Hindu girl was shot dead by a Muslim boy, in front of CCTV cameras. Khattar's government & police has not even fought the case actively in the court. The girl's father was crying that he lost his job, due to his frequent court appearances. Khattar seems to be a BJP leader who rode high on the Modi wave.
Ambar wrote:Not 3 months but 6 months is what the HM has asked to come up with rules for CAA. This will take us to end of 2021, 2 yrs after the parliament passed the law .
Again, this seems to be a delaying tactic. Yes put together there is a six month's delay. And till then even CAA is virtually on a
stay; i.e it cannot be enforced. Time to tell you friendly BJP cadre this, so that tom-tomming of this legislation is also put on hold.
Years ago Shiv mentioned that one of the reason why India despite being an Asian country is easily influenced by the west is because of its english speaking population.
The fact that BJP still managed to win elections by a huge margin, is also an indication that English speaking population are not the critical factor on which election victories depend upon. The 'brown sahibs' & English media have been trying their level best to swing people's opinion against BJP & Modi. But still they won two elections consecutively. Which also means that there is a huge vote bank out there who are outside the influence of the 'brown sahibs'.
mmasand wrote: Our babus sitting in ED, DRI, R&AW, Home Secy are enjoying chai biskoot while the country's image takes a beating by celebs who take money for anything and everything.
This has to be ignored. A country's image is not determined with a few self appointed celebrities and glorified wh-ores etc from the movie world. If GoI responds to them, it is only going to legitamise these irrelevant set of people. When was the last time this celebrity gang supported India & its culture? These singers, poets, drama fellows all have to be shown their right place. They are basically there only to provide entertainment to people (when they are sitting idle). Their role in society is really inferior to any one else be it rulers, traders, soldiers & farmers.

Haryana's situation is more complicated because it is a BJP run state in coalition with a jat party. There are powerful political dynasties that are baying for power, the Hoodas with the INC, Om Prakash Chautala and his sons with INLD and ofcourse BJP's own coalition partner JPP's ambitious Dushyant Chautala who is still young and his future depends on protecting his jat votes. Some Khap panchayats have already criticized him for staying in power with BJP, so he is in a fix whether to continue supporting Khattar or pull the support and risk an early elections where INC is bound to have an edge. Yes, Manohar lal Khattar has been lackluster to say the least, even if his government survives it is unlikely he will get re-elected again.
The less said about CAA the better, it is demonetization 2.0 in a way. Just like Modi did not mention demonetization during the 2019 campaign, i doubt if he would want to talk about CAA in the future election rallies.

So Greta beta put out a tweet that was soon deleted, apparently had a link to a comprehensive google drive document to create a 'twitter storm' of sorts on Feb 4th & 5th, in addition to the usual fundraising calls to certain organisations. In addition, the usual write to your MP, protest outside Indian missions abroad, and 'divest Ambani-Adani'.
Wonder how Ambani's public relations is dealing with all this, would make a great case study. if Bezos can get away with paying minimum wage and not allowing unionisation of their workforce, it ought to be a lesson for Ambani.
