Bah, TSP team always had Dubai as their neuter venue available for the asking anyway.

Wonder why ECB had to go soooo out of its way to show love, compassion, sympathy and bhaichara with PCB only. Something stinks in this melee and it ain't just the packees this time.

ECB was looking forward to increased revenues from hosting more games, bradfordistan will pay handsomely, but so will others. gate receipts are dwindling for england and county matches
ECB is now being made ch**tiya of in public with lungi lowering antics
and england players also don't make much money, so are resentful and jealous of high earning and cheating paquis

Their board will

1) stubbornly deny any "monetary support" to the scamsters. Only moral support
2) Claim bookies are non-team actors over which they have no control and hurriedly shutdown a few betting dens in Pak
3) For years on end, ask for proof from UK/Wales board even after they are deluged with legally valid proof
4) Ask to interrogate England captain.
5) get UK to appoint Miandad as chief of UK's cricket veteran affairs
6) Claim Botham's call for action is same as the Pak-Booki's
7) Ask UK to tackle core issue: Oppression of unregulated betting.
8 ) Ask UK to pressurize India to stop the IPL franchises that are sprouting all over cricket landscape, saying they target the paki players

Some excerpts from Woodward's "Obama's Wars" book
So what will we likely be hearing about for the next month? Gen. David Petraeus once referred to top Obama advisor David Axelrod as "a complete spin doctor," according to the book, titled "Obama's Wars." Joe Biden once called Afghanistan guru Richard Holbrooke "the most egotistical b**tard I’ve ever met." :rotfl: :rotfl: And national security advisor James Jones once called Obama's political aides "water bugs."
But what should we be talking about from the book?

The undeclared, undebated secret war in Pakistan is bigger than we knew, and it's being conducted in part by CIA-trained Afghans:
The CIA created, controls and pays for a clandestine 3,000-man paramilitary army of local Afghans, known as Counterterrorism Pursuit Teams. Woodward describes these teams as elite, well-trained units that conduct highly sensitive covert operations into Pakistan as part of a stepped-up campaign against al-Qaeda and Afghan Taliban havens there.
The Obama administration seems to be enamored with a drone-based foreign policy:
Mr. Woodward reveals the code name for the C.I.A.’s drone missile campaign in Pakistan, Sylvan Magnolia, and writes that the White House was so enamored of the program that Mr. Emanuel would regularly call the C.I.A. director, Leon E. Panetta, asking, “Who did we get today?”
This is how President Obama defines victory in Afghanistan:
Obama told Woodward in the July interview that he didn't think about the Afghan war in the "classic" terms of the United States winning or losing. "I think about it more in terms of: Do you successfully prosecute a strategy that results in the country being stronger rather than weaker at the end?" he said.
And this is the man who the United States is relying on over there:
The book also reports that the United States has intelligence showing that manic-depression has been diagnosed in President Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan and that he was on medication, but adds no details

IMF concern over Pakistan inflation
Pakistan's inflation rate may soon hit 13.5%, according to an International Monetary Fund (IMF) report.
I seriously doubt that figure inflation is way more than that.

Sacrificing education for floods
(There is nothing to learn Mr Poak, all that you need to know is in the Book, just submit)
http://salmanlatif.wordpress.com/2010/0 ... or-floods/

In fact, it’s a barely erect facet already. With the 50 per cent cut from last year’s Rs30 billion to this year’s Rs15.2 billion allocated to Higher Education Commission (HEC), the latter is struggling to stand up to its commitments. The commission has already reduced foreign scholarships by 80 per cent and is desperately trying to continue funding the students already on scholarships. The criticism from many quarters has helped nothing and now, the government has decided to take another bite off the miniscule share for the sector. In the last two quarters, out of the 15.2 billion spared for higher education, only 1.7 billion ( Deer Poak Folks this is comes to 2 Million $ a month for education of 180 Million Abduls) has been handed over so far. The protests and retaliations from teachers, professors and students are insignificant to the elected representatives. This was particularly manifest in the finance minister’s meeting with the heads of 72  universities from across the nation. Advocating to them astute spending habits and advising them to go private, the minister seems utterly oblivious of the fact that a majority of the students under education at public universities hail from that faction of this society which can’t afford hefty fee sums. A man being paid more than he deserves may have a problem figuring that out.
Due to the scaling down of funds, 71 universities are at the brink of closure. The staff faces wage-delays, teachers are not sure of the pays and students can not even think of venturing for a project since the university can no longer fund it. If this state continues some universities will have to be closed and a university being shut down is lot different than a power plant shutting down. You can’t make up for it with a few hours of load shedding. Sadly, the government does not seem to realize this.

Amber G. wrote: As said before, Most likely they used the less common word "projectile' (vs say irradiatior or "projector" )
Also likely that this could be one of "gamma ray projector" used to detect welding or type defects in pipes etc.. (Ghotki is home to few industries like Engro Chemicals and Fauji Fertilizers and their Oil and Gas Development Corporation etc).. With Radioactive source like Co-60, Iridium-192, Selenium-75 for the source..

ITs correct word. Projector is the whole machine assembly containing Radioactive Gamma projectile,

Projectile means additional kinetic energy is imparted to gamma radiation and sometimes it can be used as a weapon. It is also directional.Gamma projectile can be used as a knife in radiation surgery which burns tumour during operation. Irradiator is that which exposes something to radiation and mostly used in food processing or medical purposes of exposing some tumour to slow radiation.

This is just to show the difference.

There are other varied uses in so many field, not least the dirty nooks for which Projectiles would be more suited having more radiation than the irradiators.

Projectiles are easy to carry and the mango abdul would have died by now having served his purpose. One could check if any hospital in TSP is reporting radiation sickness .

5 killed in firing incident in northwest Pakistan

Five people were killed and two others critically injured when a "mentally unstable" man opened fire indiscriminately during a ceremony to celebrate the birth of twins at a village guest house in northwest Pakistan, police said on Wednesday.

The incident occurred at Jhandi Darasmand village in the restive Hangu district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Mir Chaman said the twin babies were born to the wife of a local resident, Gul Hassan Khan, and celebrations were underway at the 'hujra' (guest house) of one Sahibur Rehman when a mentally unstable man opened fire.

Five persons hit by the gunfire died instantly, he said.

The two injured were taken to a nearby hospital and doctors described their condition as unstable.
So question is how does mentally unstable gets hold of a weapon. Wait this is pakhanastan and if they did checks on mental health then no one would have guns and we would have switzerland of asia in place.

You wouldnt ask such questions if you read news like this :P
4 clashes over trivial issues claim 6 lives

Children belonging to the Swati community and the Marwat community were playing with toy guns on Mirza Adam Khan Road pretending to be gangsters when a clash between them drew in the adults....Khizar of the Pakistan Rangers, Sindh and policeman Rahim Khan, as well as Abdul Salam, Sher Muhammad, Rehman and Siraj sustained bullet wounds....Following the incident, unidentified miscreants torched a house, two motorcycles and several makeshift stalls
Forget guns, entire armies come out at short notice. And:
A contractor killed a eunuch when he opened fire on him after the eunuch refused to accompany him back home. Haripur government contractor 40-year-old Sajid encountered 24-year-old eunuch Arsalan alias ‘Cheena’ while he was driving on chaand raat and went to her house. Eyewitnesses said that Sajid spent the two days of Eid with Cheena and her roommate Abid alias ‘Sitara’ at Chak 11. As Sajid was returning back home to Haripur on Monday at 12.30 pm he asked Cheena to leave with him and when she refused he opened fire on her and fled from the scene.

IMF sees Pakistan inflation accelerating to 13.5 pct
(Poaknomical Position Playing TFTA Poaker)
KARACHI, Sep 22: Inflation in Pakistan is expected to accelerate to 13.5 per cent this year as massive summer floods push up prices for food and other staples, the International Monetary Fund said in its country report.Prior to the disaster, the IMF had projected average inflation for the current 2010/11 fiscal year at 11.5 per cent, slightly below the 11.7 per cent seen last year.“The economic outlook has deteriorated sharply as a result of the floods,” the IMF said, adding that gross domestic product (GDP) growth was unlikely to exceed 2.75 per cent this fiscal year. The government earlier had targeted GDP growth of 4.5 per cent this year, whereas the IMF expected it at 4.25 per cent.“The agriculture sector — which accounts for 21 per cent of GDP and 45 per cent of employment — has been hit particularly hard,” the IMF said.“An estimated eight per cent of total cropped area has been flooded, with very significant damage to industrial crops.”Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has estimated the damage to crops and infrastructure could hit $43 billion, almost one quarter of last year's GDP.Inflation was already stubbornly highThe IMF said growth had been picking up before the floods in late July and August, while inflation was stubbornly high. The central bank raised its key policy rate by 50 basis points to 13 per cent in July prior to the floods. The next monetary policy for the subsequent two months is due to be announced on September 29.“The SBP (State Bank of Pakistan) is facing a difficult balancing act,” the IMF said. The government's domestic net financing needs will increase after the floods and about two trillion rupees in treasury bills have to be rolled over this fiscal year, while domestic private demand will soften and undermine the already weak recovery in private sector growth.“These considerations will have to be weighted carefully in deciding the monetary policy stance,” the IMF said.Pakistan's inflation accelerated to a four-month high in August as the floods forced food prices higher.

Pakistan match-fixing claims: England tell Ijaz Butt to apologise or face legal action (Telegraph UK)
Butt has been told the players will initiate legal action without any further warning unless he apologises for accusing England of taking money from bookmakers to lose the third one-day international at the Oval last week. A joint letter from the Professional Cricketers’ Association and the England and Wales Cricket Board was sent to Butt on Wednesday as the row between England and Pakistan showed no sign of abating.
There is no question of an apology,” said a PCB source. “Our players were also blamed for spot-fixing without any evidence, did somebody apologise for that? When we were accused everybody was suspecting us and now everybody is protesting against the chairman’s remarks, there are double standards in the cricketing world.”

Looks like the Rapes have neatly captured the entire economic assistance for the military.
Nice bit of out sourcing here..

http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.as ... 2010_pg1_2

Govt projects Rs 110bn increase in defence budget
The government has projected an increase of Rs 110 billion in the defence budget and informed the International Monetary Fund that according to the post-flood situation, the defence budget will be Rs 552 billion against the budgetary allocation of Rs 442 billion for the ongoing fiscal year 2010-11.

This increase in the defence budget has been projected by the government at a time when development and non-development budgets of the civil government are being slashed by 50 percent and 20 percent respectively to create fiscal space for the rehabilitation of the flood-affected population.
The Public Sector Development Programme of the federal government is projected to be decreased from Rs 280 billion to Rs 250 billion and provinces’ annual development plans to be reduced from Rs 370 billion to Rs 340 billion to ensure a saving of Rs 60 billion.

Obama: ‘The cancer is in Pakistan’
( Hey Doc , does not cancer require radiation treatment)
According to excerpts from Woodward’s book in today’s Washington Post and New York Times, then-Director of National Intelligence Mike McConnell told Obama after his election that “Pakistan is a dishonest partner, unwilling or unable to stop elements of the Pakistani intelligence service from giving clandestine aid, weapons and money to the Afghan Taliban.”
There is no reason to conclude that this view has changed. Last November, according to the book, Obama told his aides “we need to make clear to people that the cancer is in Pakistan.” He believes that a more secure Afghanistan is needed “so the cancer doesn’t spread” there.

Relation between India and US were not good for decades. The two primary reasons were US nuclear policies towards India and its support for Pakistani military dictatorship. Bush seem to have taken care of one of the thorns - US nuclear policy towards India. Will Obama take care of another thorn - the US support for Paki military? That is the only thing that can come close to Bush's nuclear legacy.

From B. Raman http://www.outlookindia.com/article.aspx?267198
Pakistan has gone through a humiliating experience following the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team last year. The anti-India, Pakistan-aided terrorists would want to make India go through a similar humiliating experience.
...We should not hesitate to seek the co-operation of Pakistan to detect and pre-empt any conspiracies hatched in the Af-Pak area to disrupt the CWG. We should not stand on false prestige or prejudices against Pakistan and avoid seeking the co-operation of Pakistan. It is not too late to invite Mr.Rehman Malik, Pakistan’s Interior Minister, for a discussion on this subject.

I think this is a masterpiece of psy-ops. Raman is saying

"Malik may know about impending terror attacks and we are asking him in advance to tell us if he knows"

I like it - though others may disagree because Raman is no longer as popular on here as he used to be since none of us oppose Hindutva but some hate being called supporters of Hindutva.

There are some good maps there. Food security **before** the floods was not the greatest in some districts. See the maps.

Arithmetic on the frontier

http://afpak.foreignpolicy.com/posts/20 ... e_frontier

The following is an excerpt from an article by Declan Walsh, the Afghanistan and Pakistan correspondent for The Guardian newspaper. It appears in the current issue of Granta, which in this issue features original art, fiction, and reporting from Pakistan.

There are, by his own admission, two Anwar Kamals. One is the ‘polished gent' of Peshawar, a leading member of the Pashtun elite with a taste for frontier bling. His pied-à-terre is a spacious house in Hayatabad, the city's best suburb, where he frequently dines with his three university-educated sons. He drives an imposing white Japanese jeep with dashboard television (and prayer counter for Islamic recitations), carries the latest mobile phone and, being a qualified pilot, keeps a small plane at the local aerodrome. Some years back he imported a pair of greyhounds from England for the purpose of hunting boar on the family lands. A fading portrait of a serious-looking man on his living-room wall is testimony to his rich political pedigree.

Karan Dixit wrote:Relation between India and US were not good for decades.
Karan, the US policy towards India flowed directly from the transfer of the 'Great Game Mindset' from the British to the Americans by Sir Olaf Kirkpartic Caroe. The decimated British transferred the protection rights of the Western interests to the successor state, the USA. By circa 1955, the US had concluded three important defence agreements with Pakistan, the SEATO, CENTO and the Mutual Defence Assistance Agreement. Everything else fell into place after that and rapidly too. The US, even while giving aid to India, was not too interested in taking part in development of heavy industries. That offer was made by the USSR for Bhilai in 1955. It is therefore a long and tortuous road that India and the US have travelled until the the recent Nuclear Agreement. Therefore, the US has to feel compelled to seek India's complete friendship due to its (the US's) geostrategic advantages now before a turnaround can happen in the India-US relationship. There is a lot of steam still left in the US-Pakistan relationship while the steam build-up will take some time in the case of India-US relationship. Pakistan works overtime, and almost always recklessly, to sustain its own relationship and prevent India's relationship with the US.

What curbs US policies from evolving with changing geopolitical situation ? US as a nation has been known for its pragmatic approach to problems than for its 'traditionalism', Pakistan's deceit was conspicuous by 1967 but yet there has not been a fundamental change in the US policies towards it.

More to the question, i constantly come across opinions here on BRF that US provides a tacit support to ISI's designs in Kashmir and rest of India. Now, for the traditional atlantcists a stable country with a powerful leader are prerequisites to anchor the 'seeds of globalization'.How does a broken India serve this purpose? Surely, in this era of jihadists, the less the territory they control, the better isn't it?
