So now the story is that the guy with automatic rifle is dead and the pistol guy got caught. :D
"Came To Kill Imran Khan Because...," Shooter Says On Camera
The man believed to have fired at Imran Khan at a rally this evening in Pakistan's Gujranwala said he had come to kill the former Prime Minister because he believed that he was "misleading" people.
Imran Khan, 70, is out of danger after he was shot in the leg at a political rally in Wazirabad near Gujranwala, about 70 km from Lahore.

"Sirf Imran Khan ko maarna tha (I came only to kill Imran Khan)," said the alleged shooter, on camera.

"I did this because he was misleading people. I couldn't take it. I had decided to do this the day he started the rally," he said in a video apparently recorded by the police.

He said he had acted alone. "Nobody was behind me, nobody is with me," he told reporters.

The alleged shooter also said he had come on a bike to Wazirabad and had left the vehicle at his uncle's shop.
Reports suggest there were two shooters, one with a pistol and one with an automatic rifle.
"This was an attempt to kill him, to assassinate him," his senior aide, Raoof Hasan, was quoted as telling AFP.

Mr Hasan claimed one alleged attacker had been shot dead and the second was taken into police custody.

Imran Khan made a statement through one of his lackeys Asad Umar, blamed the following 3 for the attack on him

Shahbaz Sharif
Rana Sanaullah
Maj Gen Faisal Naseer, DG CI of ISI

The game is afoot, he has named a high ranking army officer directly.

Recent development though. Pakistan army chiefs have historically been 'ghar mein sher, bahar chuha' but Bajwa turned out to be chuha at home too. Not very bright. I think among the recent chiefs, Raheel Shariff was the one with most intelligence. He not only ensured he got additional parcel of land but also a post retirement security guard job before retirement. He hasn't looked back since.

Why do we want Pakfauj to weaken? We want them to continue their merry ways to keep Pak in a perpetual state of imagined war, suck up all resources and eat up the country from within. We know their actual warfighting ability is on the decline and will continue to rot away.

Imagine if Pak became rational all of a sudden, boxed in their military and became a functioning nation state. They could have an economy twice as large, and a power projection much larger if they played their cards right. They could be a willing foothold for the west to pressurize India, while keeping their claims on Kashmir alive. This would be a bigger problem for us than a purely military focused Pakistan.

Pakis becoming rational and forgetting Kashmir will lose the need for having the country in itself. Anger against kaffirs (Hindus) is a long-term unity knot for them, and in the short term(indefinitely) getting Kashmir is a rallying point to get cheap non unform abduls.

With great displeasure I report to you that the Great Khan has chickened out in his address to Pakistan after he was shot.

He only asked for 3 resignations : Shahbaz sharif, Rana sanaullah and Maj Gen Faisal

He addressed Bajwa directly and told him a few black sheep in the army are ruining your great reputation

That’s it…no calls for a direct march to Isloo, no criticism of the
Army except for this one maj gen, and nothing to rile up the Aam Abdul on the streets asking them to protest strongly etc

There are two factions in Paq fauj
1. Jernail Bajwa, Jernail Nadeem Anjum, Jernail Sahir Mirza, Jernail Asim Munir etc
2. Jernail Faiz Hamid, and assorted kernails, brigadiers and junior afsars and other ranks
3. Then there is Rana Sanaulla, coujin of HissHonour Iftekar Chaudhary, and paragon of piss, goatnapping and torture etc, who will not hesitate to give Dimran his 72

#1 want to see Dimran disappear
#2 want to see Dimran disappear, but after Jernail Faiz becomes COAS
#3 wants to see Dimran disappear

What happened to poor Arshad Sharif and now Dimran, could have been done by any three of the above
Either to send a message by # 1 or #3 to #2.
Or done by #2 to boost the trouble making potential of Dimran. (Hence this was not a shot but a booster shot)

In either scenario, Dimran is a bystander
And either Jernail Bajwa will get another 3 yr extension or one of the #1 gang will be COAS in a week-2 weeks time

PTI Senator Azam Swati burst into tears before the media on Saturday, saying that his wife had received a video featuring him and her and about which he could not share further details because the “daughters of my country are listening”.

Swati, who was arrested on October 13 in a case registered against him over a controversial tweet and is now on bail, has claimed that has been subjected to custodial torture.

As juvenile as this all discourse may sound, it’s very typical of how establishment has done propoganda before, and successfully in Pakistani politics.

Imran khans incident: guy was caught. He gave a statement with 2 hour on phone that was leaked to everyone. Imran walked out from the incident, with support, but is claiming to have been hit by 4 bullets. Didn’t do medico legal test, plaster looks inappropriate and the whole incident looks planned

May be it was a test balloon. It looks like it failed. People didn’t came to street the way was anticipated. No Kranti on roads despite fiery speeches and identification of culprits clearly by Imran. Imran has to cancel his Long March.

Adam Swati incident: the video looks like a fraud video that was created by an amateur and can be easily identified as fake. But Swati was asked to build a narrative and do some emotional drama. This was the same guy who previously has claimed that establishment has got tech to erase torture marks.

Overall Imran is slowly going on a back foot. He can only do so many fraud incidents and would need some vehicle/incident to bring the public to the streets. So far it seems he can’t do that without full establishment support.

A simple turn by judiciary against imran will seal Imrans fate.

All Chinese CPEC workers to move in bullet-proof cars
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and China have agreed to use bullet-proof vehicles for all outdoor movement of the Chinese nationals working on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects in order to protect them from terrorist attacks.
The decisions may help address the concerns of the government of China that was not moving forward on the CPEC front until the security of its nationals was fully guaranteed and Pakistan fulfilled its commitments under the energy deals.

“It has been decided that bullet-proof vehicles shall be used for all outdoor movements of the Chinese employed on projects,” said the draft minutes of the 11th JCC, which had been exchanged by Pakistan and China.

Against general expectations, Pakistan and China did not sign the 11th JCC minutes during the two-day visit of the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Beijing earlier this week. In the past, the minutes were signed immediately after the JCC. Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal had said after the meeting that the minutes would be signed during the prime minister’s visit.

The article provides a nice summary of the events so far.
The wounded Khan, worried Generals and political chaos
The winds changed when Musharraf imposed a national emergency by suspending the Constitution and his popularity nosedived. Facing a mass movement for the restoration of the judiciary, Musharraf was compelled to negotiate the return of his political rivals.

The General met with Benazir Bhutto in a palatial residence in the Gulf state, with the meeting said to be brokered by his own close aide, the then chief of ISI, Gen Pervez Ashfaq Kyani, who later succeeded him as COAS. Kyani had previously served Benazir as her military secretary when she was prime minister. Subsequently, the, Saudis pressured the military ruler to accept Nawaz Sharif, who was in exile in Saudi Arabia after the coup.

Benazir’s tragic assassination paved the way for Musharraf’s ouster and Bhutto’s party coming into power. During those days, rumours were rife that the establishment believed Pakistan needed a third force to counter the Sharifs’ PML-N and Bhuttos’ PPP. Imran, who was then struggling to find political momentum, thus became an alternative choice for the establishment.

He was nurtured as a political poster boy, tapping into his acclaimed fame in the cricketing world and his heroic image among the younger generation after winning the 1992 World Cup. He gained support among many Pakistanis for setting up a cancer hospital in Lahore, which earned him the image of a social reformist.
In the years that followed, Imran probably hit a jackpot as his own bitter political rival, the then prime minister Nawaz Sharif chose Gen Bajwa as the new army chief, superseding other more senior generals.

Gen Bajwa, himself a cricket lover, was already in awe of Imran’s cricketing accomplishments. The two bonded over a common vision, with Gen Bajwa reportedly inspired by Imran’s passion for elimination of corruption and in turn, Khan sharing Gen Bajwa’s views on what was required for the country’s stability. The ‘one page’ mantra echoed across the public domain.
Differences surfaced when Gen Bajwa wanted to transfer Lt Gen Faiz Hameed — one of the main proponents of the ‘one page’ narrative — from the post of ISI chief to the head of the Peshawar corps. Khan not only opposed the move, but delayed the process, saying it was his discretion to appoint a new ISI chief. What was interesting was that Imran had not intervened on the two previous occasions when the ISI chief was appointed in his own tenure. So Khan’s stance was merely seen as wanting Lt Gen Faiz around to fulfil his ‘political whims’ and to make him the next army chief.

The alliance of opposition parties, PDM, found the space they had been looking for to increase the wedge between the establishment and Imran’s regime. They feared that if Imran were to appoint Lt Gen Faiz as the next army chief, he would secure election outcomes in the PTI’s favour and Imran’s rule be secured for the next 10 years. Thus came about the efforts to oust Khan through a vote of no confidence.
Subsequently, Imran launched a countrywide protest campaign against his ouster. He built a narrative of an alleged conspiracy of regime change, though the National Security Council found no evidence of such a conspiracy. Imran’s peddled theory helped him make inroads into various layers of society. His protest meetings swelled manifold and his party defeated political rivals in the majority of seats in by-polls.

The former premier has recently gained massive support, but in the process, his aggressive posturing has probably burnt bridges with the establishment. Be it the killing of journalist Arshad Sharif, the recent by-elections or the alleged custodial torture of his close aide, Shahbaz Gill, Khan targeted elements within the establishment.
Imran idealises Erdogan and believes he could rule like him after securing a two-third majority in the next polls. He feels powerful vis-à-vis the establishment, now drawing political legitimacy from massive public support and silencing his detractors’ claims that he was a puppet with no autonomous power or support. He is likely to become more aggressive in his protest campaign and so far, it is clear to see that his confrontational approach is working for his support base.
The wounded Imran wants to convey a message: either face the fury of protests or hold early polls and meet his previously stated demand of putting the appointment of the military chief on hold. If Khan cannot appoint the new army chief in accordance to his liking, he feels that at the very least, he can make the government cautious about who it selects or make the appointment controversial.

Imran’s demands will likely not be acceptable to either the government or to the establishment. The government doesn’t want to hold early elections because Imran has gained considerable popularity since his ouster. And for the current guardians of the establishment, it’s akin to surrendering the state before Imran who proved unpredictable, and they feel he betrayed them and is trying to taint the image of the institution.

Imran, the government, and the establishment seem to have taken extreme positions, leaving no room for rapprochement for the time being, plunging Pakistan into political chaos.

Indian hackers target computers of Pak politicians, generals: report
LONDON: An India-based computer hacking gang seized control of computers owned by Pakistan’s politicians, generals and diplomats and eavesdropped on their private conversations, apparently at the behest of the Indian secret services, The Bureau of Investigative Journalism reported.
According to the report, several of political targets seem to have arisen from the continued tensions between India and Pakistan. On January 10 this year, the gang was tasked with breaking into the email account of Fawad Chaudhry, Pakistan’s then minister of information in prime minister Imran Khan’s government. It took a screenshot of Fawad Chaudhry’s inbox, which has been seen by the Sunday Times and the Bureau.

The hacking team used malware to take over his computers and targeted the country’s senior generals as well as its embassies in Beijing, Shanghai and Kathmandu in a similar way. The most famous Pakistan-related target was Pervez Musharraf, the former president of the country.
