If you add D-company - you will need to add in GCC. That brings in Somalia, and the sub-Saharan Islamist movement. In our models, not including GCC is perhaps a crucial lapse. Moreover that player should not be modelled along the lines preached by the current GOI or spokespersons affiliated to that official line.

GCC should be modeled as looking at strategic depth in India for their ME operations, relying on the stranglehold that Sunni/Deobandi and increasingly Saudi linked Islamism in North and west arc of India, has on Indian state power and politics.

This crucial lapse seems to have affected us again, while voting for the GCC in the UNSC resolution against Syria.

Has Somalia been acting as periphery for the GCC core since the first oil discoveries there and D-co networks have simply come along and taken advantage of the prevailing situation?

Thailand: India foils Pak bid to ‘grab’ Dawood aide

India has foiled Pakistan’s bid to secure the custody of Muzakkir Sayyed alias Munna ‘Jinga’, a Mumbai-born aide of fugitive Indian don Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar, from Thailand.

Sayyed, a sharpshooter, had led an attack on rival don Chhota Rajan in Bangkok in September
2000.

The 10-year jail term of Sayyed, who was housed at a Bangkok prison facility after being convicted for orchestrating the attack on Rajan, ended recently. Pakistani diplomats, allegedly armed with fake documents and passport details of Sayyed that identified him as a citizen of their country, had contacted their counterparts in Thailand a few weeks ago - while he was still incarcerated in a Bangkok prison facility — to “grab him”, said a CBI official on the condition of anonymity.

“Pakistani officials told Thai authorities that Sayyed was a Pakistani citizen — on the basis of papers submitted by them, including a fake passport created after his flight to Karachi from Mumbai in 1999 — and demanded that he be deported to their country as per Thailand laws,” said the official.



It was suspected that Sayyed and five other members of the team, which attacked Rajan on Dawood’s orders, had allegedly received training and logistical help from the Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Incidentally, the ISI is also suspected to have sponsored the don’s stay and activities since his orchestration of the March 1993 Mumbai serial blasts.

Alerted by the Indian embassy in Bangkok and the Research & Analysis Wing (R&AW), the CBI scrambled to halt Pakistan’s attempts to take Sayyed with them in the nick of time.

“The Thai authorities had already accepted the Pakistani position. But we challenged their contention and got the deportation stayed,” the official said.

“Thailand is likely to deport Sayyed to India soon,” said the official, “But Pakistan is cagey about India getting hold of Sayyed because he can divulge details on how its agencies had abetted the attack on Rajan, which was an act of international terrorism.”

Hard, credible evidence provided by Indian intelligence agencies to the United States that Dawood Ibrahim’s key aides Chhota Shakeel and Tiger Memon were actively pumping in high-quality cocaine into the American market compelled the US treasury department to declare the two as narcotics smugglers and impose sanctions against them.
Sources involved in compiling the evidence against Shakeel and Memon indicated that the duo could well be the single biggest suppliers of cocaine to the United States.
The dossier provided by Indian agencies to the US has details on how Shakeel and Memon were supplying cocaine to US drug syndicates through a vast network of associates in South Asia, West Asia and Africa. It also contains details on how funds from cocaine sales are being used by the “D Company” for terror strikes in India and Afghanistan.
Highly-placed government sources said New Delhi was trying for over a year to convince Washington that it was in the interests of America’s own national security to impose sanctions against Shakeel and Memon.
“A lot of effort has gone into this for the last one year. It was only after the US was totally convinced with evidence provided by India and realising how badly their own country was affected by this narcotics trade that they went ahead with imposing sanctions against the two criminals,” a senior Indian intelligence official said.
This means no American company or individual can now have business dealings with Shakeel and Memon, and all their assets in the United States have been frozen with immediate affect.
New Delhi has welcomed the US move, and asked “those countries harbouring them to bring them to justice”.
The Indian agencies also provided details of how the Dawood gang was smuggling high-grade heroin to Western Europe, particularly through Africa. “While the United States is a huge market for cocaine, in Europe it’s heroin that is in high demand,” the official said.

‘Poor police resources, weak laws have allowed Dawood to funnel millions into Mumbai property'

Police officials are warning that new United States sanctions on two key lieutenants of gang-lord Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar, announced by the Treasury Department on Tuesday, are unlikely to have a significant impact on South Asia's largest organised crime cartel.

Shakeel Ahmad Sheikh, also known as Chhota [‘Little'] Shakeel, and Ibrahim “Tiger” Memon — have been sought by the police in India since 1993 for their role in over a hundred violent crimes, most notably the 1993 serial bombings in Mumbai.

The Treasury Department notification, interestingly, appears to bear out India's long-standing charges that Memon is in Pakistan — recording that he travels on a passport issued by that country, number AA762402.

The sanctions prescribe harsh penalties for U.S. entities dealing with the two men or organisations they control, and allow for their assets to be seized.

Though the U.S. had imposed sanctions on Kaskar himself in 2003, the Indian and international police forces have not succeeded in bringing a single prosecution against his cartel, known as the D-Company. India's police say they lack the investigative resources and appropriate legal frameworks to address the growing threat.

Narcotics operations

Meanwhile, the D-Company's narcotics operations, running heroin extracted from opium grown in Afghanistan and Pakistan's northwest, have expanded dramatically — and with it, multi-million dollar investments in property in India's commercial capital.

“Every second day,” a senior Mumbai Police official told The Hindu, “We listen in to the D-Company discussing investments in Mumbai real estate.” He said much of the syndicate's earnings from narcotics trafficking is ploughed into property in Mumbai's suburbs — using cash, brought in through hawala networks that link the city to Karachi and Dubai. Property deals in the suburbs, as elsewhere in India, are routinely under-valued. Frontmen for the cartel then use the cash to buy property, especially those whose value is down, because they are under litigation.

Funds laundered through the sale of these property, an Indian financial intelligence expert said, were then routed to the United Arab Emirates and the West as legitimate investments. “London has become the new Dubai for the D-Company,” the officer said. “Last year, we had fairly credible reports that Kaskar's brother had made a killing on gold arbitrage in London, but could never find hard evidence.”

Singapore-based financial expert Ryan Clarke has estimated Kaskar's own worth at $430 million. Indian intelligence sources claim that the D-Company's total assets could run close to twice as much, and it likely handles around $100 million a year of heroin — though there is no way of assessing the accuracy of these estimates.

Though the U.S. sanctions have been effective against South American drug cartels enmeshed in the banking system, India's weak financial regulatory apparatus means the D-Company has largely been able to evade these checks.

India has few systems in place to register hawala dealers and transactions, and organised crime cartels find it easy to conceal remittances in the midst of multi-million dollar flows generated by businesses and expatriates. And the country is yet to proscribe the domestic hawala system, known as angariya, which is used by traders across the country — making it easy to move money within the country once it arrives. This and the opaque nature of the property market have rendered policing ineffective.

Efforts to crack down on the alleged frontmen for the cartel have met with little success. In 2008, the Mumbai Police initiated a rare criminal prosecution involving a cartel-controlled property in Malad neighbourhood. Property dealer Ibrahim Atharwala and Shaikh's brother-in-law, Mohammad “Bhaijan” Arif, were among eight men accused of seeking to buy an apartment using the D-Company funds. But the police had little hard financial evidence to back their claims — and witnesses, with just one significant exception, turned hostile.

Low-level operatives of the D-Company are still targeted by the police. In January, for example, the Uttar Pradesh police arrested Rua'ab Ali, a Basti resident, alleged to have supplied weapons to the D-Company hit-men who attempted to assassinate Mumbai property magnate Manish Dholakia last year, allegedly after a deal went sour.

Not in a single case, though, have the police been able to seize assets purchased by the D-Company or its frontmen after 1993.

Mounting frustration

Experts say the mounting pressure from the U.S. against the D-Company comes from the realisation that its narcotics operations are funding terrorist operations across the region. In an October 2010 paper, analyst Gretchen Peters said: “Organized crime — and specifically the opium trade —has dramatically aggravated, prolonged and reshaped the conflict in Afghanistan.” She noted that the Pakistan-based jihadist groups, too, significantly profited from the business.

In a May 2009 operation in Helmand, for example, NATO and Afghan troops seized 92 tonnes of heroin, opium, hashish and poppy seeds, the second largest drug-haul of all time.

Evidence of the D-Company's role in these operations surfaced in 2003, when the Treasury Department sanctioned Kaskar, declaring that his “syndicate's smuggling routes from South Asia, the Middle East and Africa are shared with Osama bin Laden and his terrorist network.” “A financial arrangement was reportedly brokered to facilitate the latter's usage of these routes,” it said adding that the gang-lord travelled in Afghanistan in the 1990s “under the protection of the Taliban.”

However, the sanctions have done little to stem Kaskar's activities — much like the Afghan and Pakistani jihadists who operate outside the banking system, and use fake passports to evade travel restrictions.

Pakistan's stand

Pakistan has doggedly refused to crack down on the D-Company, and insists that neither Kaksar nor his lieutenants live on its soil.

In a 2001 report, though, eminent journalist Ghulam Hasnain reported on the gang-lord's ostentatious lifestyle in Karachi, saying he lived like a king.

“Home,” Mr. Hasnian wrote of Kaskar, “is a palatial house spread over 6,000 square yards, boasting of a pool, tennis courts, a snooker room and a private, hi-tech gym. He wears designer clothes, drives top of the line Mercedes' and luxurious four-wheel drives, sports a half-a-million rupee Patek Philippe wristwatch, and showers money on starlets and prostitutes.”

In a recent interview to New Delhi-based NDTV, Pakistan's former military ruler Pervez Musharraf said the gang-lord enjoyed mass support in Pakistan.

“They think that he did a very good job,” General Musharraf said. “In Gujarat, they killed 3,000 Muslims. Therefore, Dawood Ibrahim reacted. So he is held in high esteem.”

If i am not wrong both Haji and DI had spend major part of their life in Mumbai before they rose up in their career ...you can call them Mumbaite if you wish , the local chaps like Naik gang was deciminated some have joined politics like Gawli.

Sir, if I am not mistaken these folks had landed up in Mumbai much earlier. Haji Mastan was a coolie in Wadala docks. Varadarajan Mudaliar also I feel started as a worked in the dock yard and then moved into boot-legging. I feel these people started off as small time criminals and then came up into bigger ones. And looks like when it comes to law enforcement most of the folks who dealt with them in very strict fashion are Maharashtrians (eg: YC Pawar et.al).

In the following presentation all the facts mentioned were printed in highly reputed newspapers, magazines, websites and were shown on Indian news channels as well. They can easily be verified with some effort. All of them.

The Times of India (TOI) on several occasions has reported that the Mumbai Terror Attacks were orchestrated by the Lashkar E Taiba whose agent David Headley who incidentally works for the Pakistani Intelligence Agency ISI as well conducted recces in Mumbai to collect information and provide logistics to the LeTfor the terror strike.

David Headley’s background is interesting as he was arrested by the American authorities for narcotics trafficking. He then was recruited by US Government to penetrate Al-Qaeda and LeT and provide the US authorities with intelligence on narcotics trafficking and the terrorism that it fuels. (Source:TOI)

David Headley then apparently turned rogue and defected to the ISI to assist them in providing logistics for the terrorist attacks on 26/11 which was carried out by the LeTterrorists. (Source:TOI)

The TOI also reported that David Headley’s alias was Daood Sayed Gilani and that hinted that David Headley could possibly be a relative of Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.



The TOI reported that Indian Intelligence Agencies had picked up on their surveillance that David Headley had carried out his surveys for the landing of the terrorists using an established smuggling network.

• It was also reported that the boats were used to conduct the survey for the landing of the terrorists. In fact the very boat used by David Headley to conduct his surveys for the attacks belonged to a well known smuggler Chand Madar.

• Chand Madar was heavily involved in diesel smuggling and was beginning to affect the business of his friend and associate Mohammed Ali Shaikh who was also an established smuggler of Arms ,Diesel and Narcotics.

• The docks where Arms, Diesel and Narcotics are smuggled into, are under Shaikh’s control. Shaikhis unofficially acknowledged as the King of the Mumbai Docks.

• Shaikh who incidentally was a BSP MLA candidate was the one to suggest to Madarthat he help Headley in his survey mission. Shaikhwas eventually booked for masterminding the murder of Chand Madar.

• Shaikh is a well-known agent of Dawood Ibrahim, the most wanted terrorist in India. All the Arms, Diesel and Narcotics that are smuggled to the Mumbai Docks originate from the docks of Karachi, Pakistan which are totally under the control of Global Terrorist and Narcotics Dealer Dawood Ibrahim who is sheltered and financed by the ISI of Pakistan.

Profile of Dawood Ibrahim

Dawood Ibrahim is a fugitive, a drug baron and a terrorist. He orchestrated the Mumbai Bomb Attacks in 1993 which killed 257 people and it was confirmed by the Russian Intelligence Agency that Dawood Ibrahim indeed provided the Logistics and Support for the Mumbai Terror Strikes on 26/11 which killed 166 people. The Indian authorities are fully aware of his activities and his interests in India.

So how can this be possible? How can a terrorist’s organization be utilized to carry out terror attacks in India and at same time be allowed to flourish in India ? How can the Indian Authorities allow this to happen? This leads us to the next question, who are the Indian Authorities ?



Who are the Indian Authorities?

The Indian Agencies responsible for intelligence, counter intelligence and national security are broadly speaking the following:

• Research and Analysis Wing (RAW)

• Intelligence Bureau(IB)

• Central Intelligence Bureau(CBI)

• National Investigation Agency(NIA)

• National Security Adviser(NSA)

All these Agencies are answerable to the Ministry of Home Affairs which itself comes under the direct control of the Indian Government.

In the aftermath of the Mumbai Attacks, the TOI printed in an article that it had acquired a report from the Ministry of Home Affairs which stated that the MHA was fully aware of the extent of Sheikh’s smuggling network and Dawood Ibrahim’s activities and that they were thriving because they enjoyed the patronage of a powerful minister from Maharashtra! The MHA even mentioned the name of this politician/minister in this report.

The top brass of the Indian Security Apparatus of India has been corrupted and made apathetic because of the influence wielded by this minister. This official apathy led to the Mumbai Terror Attacks .

Who is this minister?

There is only one minister from Maharashtra who has this much of power. He was the elected as the chief minister of Maharashtra several times and was the defense minister of India once. This minister has been accused of corruption of the highest order on several occasions and he has never seen the inside of a jail cell.

That minister is Sharad Pawar!

• Has used party worker Chagan Bhujbal to corrupt key sections of Mumbai Police Force. Several top Police Officers have received money and houses from Dawood Ibrahim in return for allowing his operations to continue.

R R Patil is the current Home Minister and was the former Deputy Chief Minister and current Home Minister of Maharashtra. Patil is a senior minister in the NCP and is known as “ Mr. Clean” for his “Clean” image. He is a trusted and efficient executive of SharadPawar.

He was recently caught on camera socialising with three known aides of Dawood Ibrahim. The Clippings of this video were shown on CNN-IBN. Patil commented in the aftermath of the exposure, that he did not know who these people were.

The Aides are:

Salim Patel : Prime suspect in the Hyderabad Bomb Blasts Case. A well known extortionist.
Mobin Qureshi : Prime suspect in the murder of BJP MLA Prem Kumar Sharma. Also a well known extortionist.
Irfan Qureshi : A Blacklisted Builder.




Aftermath of the attacks

When Vilasrao Deshmukh was asked to resign from his post of Chief Minister of Maharashtra after the attacks, there was an instant clamour for the coveted position of Chief Minister.

Former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Narayan Rane of the Congress Party was coveting it with great desire. But he was sidelined and the post was given to Ashok Chavan.

Angry with the Congress Party and NCP for being ignored, Rane directly approached the media and stated that the Mumbai Terror Attacks could not have been possible on such a devastating scale without local support. He also offered to release the names of all the Indian political parties which had financed the Mumbai Terror attacks.

This set off an immediate panic, the party bosses of the Congress and the NCP had several meetings with NarayanRanebehind closed doors.

After Rane emerged from the meetings, he was accosted by the media, who asked the minister about his earlier claims. He conveniently developed amnesia and refused to comment. After reading about links between a dreaded terrorist and the politicians it can easily be concluded that Indian ministers were involved in the Mumbai Attacks. This because their links with the terrorist who supported the attacks weren’t exposed by anyone, including the Indian Intelligence Agencies after the attacks. It was only because of the protection offered by the politicians that this Narco Terror Network was allowed to grow to such an extent that it could support the carnage in Mumbai.

They were fully aware of the Mumbai Attacks because of their close proximity to a dangerous terrorist and were almost exposed by a rival politician who claimed that they had even financed it. If so, then Sharad Pawar and his associates stand guilty of treason of the highest order. They have conspired in the mass murder of their own people.

If indeed the State Government of Maharashtra was aware of the attack or had financed it then some questions will come to mind.

Outlook Magazine has also reported that Dawood Ibrahim has made generous donations to the top politicians of the BJP such as LK Advani and Sushma Swaraj through Hawala Channels close to him and middle men such as Romesh Sharma respectively (whose task was to identify targets in New Delhi for murder and extortion for Dawood Ibrahim) with the blessings of the BJP government. L K Advani was named as a beneficiary in the Jain HawalaScandal, where ISI controlled hawala agents funneled money to Advani in return for cooperation.


The BJP has sold out the country because they are also on the take from Dawood Ibrahim. When they were in power they did not take any steps to bring in Dawood Ibrahim but actually allowed him to flourish using Sharad Pawar. Numerous terror attacks happened when the BJP were in power. After reading all this information about the elected politicians of this country having such close links with the most dreaded enemies of the state it is clear that it is not only Sharad Pawar and the NCP, but the whole Indian Government which has sold out the people of this country to its enemies because of it’s insatiable greed!!!

So does this mean that the ISI backed Dawood Ibrahim has a vise like grip over the Indian Government? Is he literally running the country? Is he in total and absolute control? If not him is the Pakistani ISI in control of India? Far from it.

The politicians and elected leaders of India are still very much in power. The nexus between the Politician and the Narco-terrorists/ISI is simply a symbiotic relationship which allows both to thrive. The Narcotics are smuggled in by a sinister terror sponsoring organization like the ISI under the protection of the Indian Government, which is then paid off with the super profits earned by narcotics trafficking.

So then why terrorism? Why are the terrorist attacks being allowed ? And why are the Indian Politicians in bed with India hating terrorists? Couldn’t the Indian Politicians have all the money they wanted from Dawood Ibrahim and leave the civilians in peace? Why are we getting caught up in this? How do we figure in this?

What exactly is going on?


To answer that question we must again analyze the nature of the relationship that the Indian Government has with Dawood Ibrahim. Dawood Ibrahim was declared a Global Terrorist and is on India’s most wanted list. The Indian Intelligence agencies know everything that there is know about him, his whereabouts and his financial investments.

The Indian Intelligence and Security Forces won’t move against or even weaken him because they have been subverted by a very corrupt but democratically elected Indian Government. The Indian Authorities could bring Dawood Ibrahim’s Organization to its knees if it wanted to. The same with the Indian Army. It could crush the Pakistani Terrorists if it so chose to. But that is not happening. Why doesn’t anyone act and finish this terror menace ? What is happening is pure deception!

Dawood Ibrahim is an agent of the Pakistani Intelligence Agency the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI). But then again Dawood Ibrahim is working hand in glove with Indian Politicians also.

How can the same terrorist work for both countries? Especially after considering the facts that countries like India and Pakistan have engaged in three large scale wars, have had numerous clashes over Kashmir and have a deep set hostility towards one another.

There can only be one logical conclusion. The Indian Government and the Pakistani Government may overtly be enemies. But they are secretly the best of friends!!! All the terrorist strikes are carried out on the Indian people by the Pakistani Terrorists at the behest of the Indian Government. This is a policy and has little to do with corruption. The terror attacks are happening in total coordination between the ISI and the Indian Government along the with Army and the Intelligence Wings. The Indian Army and the Pakistani Army have a good understanding and communication between one another. The corrupt Generals of the Indian Army and the Pakistani Army simply strike each other to keep the Kashmir Dispute alive. The Indian Army will sacrifice some of its soldiers for some Pakistani Terrorists. But neither side will try to obliterate the other. The supposed “hostility” is simply allowed to perpetuate.

This is also why Pakistan will never hand over Ibrahim to India. Its because the Indian Government doesn’t want them to. It will expose the Indians as well as the Pakistanis. The reluctance of the Pakistanis to hand over Dawood Ibrahim to India shows a great understanding between India and Pakistan.

This shocking revelation leads us to our next question. Why is this happening? Why this Policy of Terror?

The terrorists were openly recruited by the Pakistani ISI after the creation of Bangladesh and were trained to fight the Jihad in Kashmir. But after sometime overcame temptation and quickly got mired in Narcotics Trafficking. The Pakistani establishment including the ISI, the Army and the Government is corrupt to its very core and is massively involved in the opium trade emanating from Afghanistan.

The Democratically elected Government of India sadly as scam after scam has convinced us is also corrupt to its very core. So is its Army which has a spotty past and has been mired in several purchase related scams.

The Indian Government wasn’t always this corrupt though. It was subverted by the greed of our wretched politicians after corruption was institutionalized during the reign of Indira Gandhi as Prime Minister. Since then our establishment has been taken over by criminals, thieves, traitors, embezzlers, murderers and above all, very convincing liars.

Somewhere after corruption became institutionalized in India, contacts were made between the ISI and the Indian Government and a secret friendship between great rivals was initiated. This is how Dawood Ibrahim, an Indian born criminal became a ISI asset. But the ISI asset also became an Indian asset. This asset was used to create large scale terror on order.

The Indian government uses terror as another instrument for mass control along with taxes and inflationary policies. Terrorism has the power to cause mass psychological trauma. That’s why it is so often used.

The Indian Governments along with the Pakistani Government respectively use terror to keep their respective country’s populations in a state of fear.

This fear makes us feel insecure, this fear reminds us that our lives can end any minute because of evil forces that exist in this world. This because after any terrorist strike, regardless of our fear and anger, we can only turn to one organization in the end for help. The Indian Government.

The Indian Government is aware of this and uses a propaganda of terror to reinforce this fear and their necessity from time to time.

The terrorist attacks are meant to are simply meant to remind us how fragile our lives are and ergo keep the Indian people in check. What we weren’t told, was that it was the very people we chose to govern us, who bred, fed and nourished these evil forces. Partly for their greed and partly for mass control.

This Terror Induced Mass Control is perceived by the Indian Government as an effective tool by which the Indian Government and its most important organs which includes Financial Regulators, the Intelligence Agencies, the Indian Army and the opposition parties which all put together make up less than 1% of the Indian Population exerts control over the remaining 99% of the population.

All the information presented previously was garnered from various media sources. The last two slides are the conclusions which can be arrived at based on the information presented so far. In that case, what was all the furore displayed by Indian Government over the Mumbai Attacks all about? What was the anger displayed by the Opposition Parties all about? What was Barack Obama’s speech at the TajHotel all about?

The answer to all these questions is the title of this Presentation. This is the Great Indian Lie. This is the farce. This is the conspiracy. This is the drama that all politicians participate in. Our elected politicians have very murky backgrounds. Any of them could potentially expose their rivals and bring them down. But they don’t. They just lie. And they lie big. Its what makes things work. It’s the grease in this engine we call a government. If they don’t lie, this engine will simply come to a grinding halt. Everyone who is in a position of power and influence knows this. And now so do you.

This lie was what allowed the Mumbai Terror Attacks to happen. It was responsible for the terror strike in Mumbai in 1991. It was responsible for the Delhi blasts, the Hyderabad Blasts and the Ahmedabad Blasts.

In short it was responsible for deaths of so many innocent people.

1993 Mumbai serial blasts case: SC upholds death sentence of Yakub Memon, calls him mastermind of terror strike

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the death sentence of Yakub Abdul Razzak Memon in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case.

The apex court said Yakub, younger brother of Tiger Memon, was the mastermind of the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts.

The Supreme Court commuted the death sentence of 10 other accused to life imprisonment.

The court observed that the other 10 accused were mere 'arrows in the hands of archers in the shape of Yakub, Tiger Memon and Dawood Ibrahim'.

The SC said though these 10 parked explosive laden vehicles at places in Mumbai, they were mere pawns and deserved life sentence.

The apex court severely criticized Pakistan for training and arming terrorists, who caused mayhem in Mumbai.

SC said Pakistan's ISI was singularly responsible for training the accused and equipping them to cause the bomb blasts in Mumbai.

Islamabad owes an explanation not only to India but also to the entire world for the terror strike, the SC said condemning Pakistan's role.


SC also severely criticized Mumbai police, custom department officials and coast guards for failing to check the transportation of sophisticated weapons and RDX into India.

Their greed and lack of honesty and integrity not only resulted in huge loss of lives but also caused a serious set back to India's economy, the SC said.

The apex court awarded five years sentence to Yusuf Nulwala. The court allowed Samire Hingora to come out of prison as he had already served 6 and a half years, the sentence it imposed on him.

A bench of Justice PS Sathasivam and BS Chauhan read out in one and a half hours the excerpts of the vouminous judgement.

As many as 257 people were killed and 713 injured in the serial blasts that rocked 12 locations in Mumbai on March 12, 1993. Property worth Rs 30 crore was damaged in the terror strike.
The fishermen's colony at Mahim Causeway, Bombay Stock Exchange, Zaveri Bazar, Plaza Cinema in Dadar, Century Bazaar in Worli, Hotel Sea Rock, Sahar Airport, Air India building, Hotel Juhu Centaur and a petrol pump opposite the Sena Bhavan were some of the places that were targeted.

According to the CBI, fugitive don Dawood Ibrahim, along with Pakistant's ISI, engineered the blasts, and Tiger Memon and his brother Ayub were the main conspirators.


In 2007, a trial court held 100 people guilty while 23 were acquitted. Twelve people were sentenced to death, 20 to life and 68 were given various prison terms. Three of the convicts — one sentenced to death and two to life-died during the pendency of the appeal in the apex court, which held day-to-day hearings for 10 months before reserving its verdict in August 2012.

Fugitive don, Dawood Ibrahim who was named by the Supreme Court as one of the main conspirators in the 1993 was moved back into his pad in Lahore from a third world country a few days before the verdict. The net assessment of the intelligence data that was pieced together by the Research and Analysis Wing showed that Dawood who was out of Pakistan was brought back to his safe house ahead of the verdict.


Dawood who is one of the masterminds of the dreaded attack in 1993 has business interests in several third world countries. He has been networking and creating newer routes for his drug trade which has one major base in Nairobi. The intelligence in India is constantly gathering information regarding Dawood Ibrahim and it has been found that he has stopped visiting his base in Dubai and other Gulf countries since the past two years. This has been done on the advise of his ISI handlers as the route had become too obvious and the Gulf nations were tilting towards India in the recent past and there was a good chance of him being arrested and extradited.

An officer who is part of the Dawood Ibrahim intelligence assessment team says that he has been moving a lot into the third world countries. Countries which do not have a major US reach have been preferred destinations. It would be wrong to say that he is holed up in Pakistan. He moves in and out of Pakistan very frequently. He is a state guest in Pakistan and that makes it even more easier to create a passport.

Intelligence has been pouring in from various quarters regarding Dawood. While assessing the information, it was found that he lives in the Defence Colony in Karachi Pakistan. He has also been provided a palatial home in Lahore and his family too is with him. His movements largely depend on his business needs and the ISI helps him with such movements. However the ISI manages to pull him back to Pakistan each time there is pressure on him.

C D Sahay, former Chief of RAW who was part of the team which did an intelligence assessment on him after the 1993 attack says that he lives in an ISI safe house and he continues to be a major asset to the ISI. With ease Dawood can invest money in any part of the world. However Pakistan will continue to deny his presence since he is not their national. Accepting his presence would mean they are sheltering a fugitive, Sahay points out. Even if you get Dawood in Pakistan, they would still deny it is him.

The intelligence on him is not flimsy, an IB officer says. There are very specific details on him. It is his network which still exists in India which makes him such a preferred asset for the ISI. He can easily move money, arms and ammunition into India thanks to this network. Even a more dangerous Hafiz Saeed cannot boast of such a network in India.
Sahay says that Dawood does not need to be a gun trotting terrorist. Without firing a single shot he can cause more damage than a Hafiz Saeed. He continues to be a facilitator for the ISI not only in India, but in many other countries as well. On a call he can facilitate information, accommodation, arms and a lot of money in most of parts of the world.

The SC verdict on Sanjay Dutt had complicated things for INC.
They cant get him a Presidential pardon as they it would be against their manufactured image of being toguh on terrorists. So the game is to ahve the sundry folks demand and plead for the State Governor to pardon him. But the catch is the State Governor is a figurehead and needs the Maha CM to recommend it. With general elections looming its doubtful right now. But then stranger things have happened!

Strange ways of the Secularists

Strange are teh ways of our Secularists

Scion of a well-regarded family which is also connected with the ruling party, Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt is not tainted by the ‘Hindutva terror’ tag. Thus, his links with the likes of Abu Salem are not communal enough

At the time of writing, the secular brigade is shouting itself hoarse, demanding waiver of the punishment actor Sanjay Dutt has been handed down by the Supreme Court. While none, so far, has spelled out the grounds for the proposed special treatment for the high-profile convict, one can safely guess the reasons for this soft approach.

One, he is the scion of a well regarded ‘secular’ family which has strong connections to the ruling dispensation. Two, his supposed terror links, mostly with the likes of Hanif Kadawala and Abu Salem, are deemed to be ‘secular’ (for want of a better word) as opposed to communal (such as one with a Hindutva tag). Hence, Dutt’s case should be treated differently from that of, say, Sadhvi Pragya, who is suffering from cancer and is fighting a prolonged court battle to get proper treatment while in custody. None of the self-proclaimed human rights groups or political parties has taken up her cause so that she may have access to treatment for the dreaded disease.

But then again, this is not surprising at all. Dutt’s case is only the latest in a series of instances which have exposed the double standards of the ‘secularists’. What should one make of Ministers and top Congress leaders making a beeline so as to boost the ‘victim image’ of the extremist leader from Kerala, Abdul Nasser Madani? Head of the Peoples Democratic Party, Madani is currently being tried for his role in the 2010 Chinnaswamy stadium blasts in Bangalore.

The Karnataka court had given him a five-day break so that he may attend his daughter’s wedding, but it had also issued express orders that he must not give speeches or engage in any political activities. Yet, Madani used his daughter’s wedding to promote his favourite theme: That the state had levelled terror charges against him to victimise him. The police officer accompanying him and overseeing his activities, as per the court order, first prevented him from making a speech at the function. But Madani said he was only announcing his blessings to the couple, so the officer allowed him to use the microphone.

Madani then made full use of the occasion to make a long speech. He compared his so-called suffering to the manner in which the Palestinian children are treated (presumably in Israeli jails) and added that his plight was still tolerable. The comparison was obviously meant to bring in the religious angle, as he went on to refer to the suffering of many children and undertrials in the jails of the world. But ,given that Islamists routinely play up the worldwide victimhood theme to justify their activities, it was not entirely unexpected that the Peoples Democratic Party leader used the same tactic to milk the occasion and gain maximum sympathy from his supporters.

However, what was surprising was that Madani’s daughter’s wedding was attended by top political leaders of Kerala, including CPI(M) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan, Left Front convener Vaikkam Vishwan, Congress leader Kodikunnel Suresh (who is the Minister of State for Labour), his party colleague KC Venugopal (former Minister of State for Power) and Congress district committee president Pratapa Varma Thamban. Let us not forget that Madani, their host, is a man who has been accused of planning terrorist activities. He is also known to have recruited young people from Malabar and Hyderadad and then sent them to Kashmir and Bangladesh — and finally to Pakistan for terror training.

During the 2009 parliamentary poll, when the Marxist State secretary openly supported Madani and his candidates, the then Marxist Chief Minister of Kerala VS Achuthanandan objected. Later, when PDP supported ‘independent’ candidates as well as the Marxists lost heavily in that election, Mr Achuthanandan even attributed the electoral setback partly to his own party’s decision to align with Madani and his PDP.

And that is not all. The Congress, which returned to power in 2011 in Kerala, did not shy away from playing vote-bank politics. So, it refused to prosecute Madani even after his involvement in terror activities came to fore following an investigation by Kerala police. Moreover, when the BJP Government in Karnataka asked the Kerala Government to act, after investigators traced the Bangalore blasts back to Madani, Kerala politicians demurred and told the Karnataka Government that the arrest would lead to widespread riots.Yet, the fact remains that the people of Kerala have never responded to the PDP’s attempts to create disturbances.

Why then are Kerala’s politicians, across the political spectrum, so concerned about this person who has never hidden his communalism, his Islamist beliefs and his involvement in terror activities including those in Kerala itself? Nonetheless, thankfully after the snub from Kerala, the prosecution in Karnataka did not give in, and instead obtained an arrest warrant for Madani and brought him in.

But this refusal to hold the likes of Madani accountable for the words and crimes is not a one-off thing. When Madani was in Coimbatore jail, his supporters in Kerala organised an anti-Tamil Nadu agitation and burnt buses from that State. Subsequent prosecution against those who burnt the buses led straight to Madani’s wife but again the State Government demurred and let her go scot-free. Moreover, when Madani was lodged in Bangalore jail — having been denied bail by court after court on the basis of solid evidence collected by Karnataka police — Kerala politicians as well as that State’s Congress-led Government went out of their way to ensure that Madani received special treatment in jail.

At the level of the Union Government, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh cannot realistically ask Pakistan to take action against its terror merchants when his own party men go out of their way to empathise with terror accused within the country. But then again, perhaps all this is in line with the Congress’s vote-bank politics that is soft on Islamist terror — recall how Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh expressed his solidarity with those who were killed in the Batla House encounter while questioning the courage of police officers who laid down their life to fight terror or the manner in which he had rushed to sympathise with the families of arrested terror suspects.

The list goes on to include the manner in which the Congress has ignored the rise of Islamic fundamentalism in places like Hyderabad and Kozhikode and most recently, the pleas of Congress leaders seeking pardon for a man who has been convicted by the Supreme Court of India for the illegal possession of arms relating to the 1993 Mumbai blasts case.

Fire Arms Act is a central Act So only President would have power to pardon. At most Maha Gov can give him few months of extra remission or premature release but no Pardon. Conviction and sentencing stays. If he serves sentence right now he would be out in about two and half years+.

Reading the Tehleka's writeup of Sanjay Dutt I turly feel sorry for Nargis Dutt who played Mother India. She was often remembered for her iconic role.

No huge votary of Markenday Katju( who does sometimes make sense), but the guy deserves praise for reciting a Sanskrit sloka on national television, on the "Newshour" discussion programme. How many people do that in India? He is known to be a Sanskrit fan and scholar. This was part of a debate on Sanjay Dutt, where he is an advocate of pardoning the actor.
