Former Navy Chief surrenders flat
http://www.hindu.com/2010/10/31/stories ... 021500.htm
After announcing the surrender of the flat, the Admiral reiterated his observations more vehemently. “At no stage were we ever told that these flats belonged to war widows. In that case I would have withdrawn then and there. We are not fools or ruthless men to take anybody else's place,” said the veteran of many battles sounding rather hurt over the whole episode.

Senior Army officers "involved" in this are prepared to do the same... from what I'm reading and hearing. In any case, no one comes out of this smelling of roses. It is a pity.

news from a unusual angle.
there was a data modelling type itvity conference in blr where a old guru from tenesse or somewhere who had invented a methodology had also come to give talks and explain some use cases.
participants were a bit taken aback when a senior officer of police also gave a talk on use of data models and itvity type frameworks and such for mapping out all the members, relationships and activities of gangs and predicting their future moves. he said police were using such techniques to predict some future moves and countermoves such that people should not assume that nothing is happening behind the scenes if no known shootings or incidents are reported...

This is interesting. I am one of the founding member of the local metrix user groups and we interact with large industry bases and learn from analytics practice. We had some enforcement people do some security related issues but these are done mostly by the NSA type people.

DFDs gant charts PERT CPM techiniques were all invented and have been part of Industrial Engineering right from the days of Nomograms, Slide Rules, Log charts etc. These were part of Sytems engineering too. A systesm by definition is collection People, Proceudres (SOPs not procedures as in Programming language) Processes and controls (SQC) later came the computer and hence the distinction Computer based systesm or Computerized systems.
So the COP who addressed was correct and even TAT (no Tit involved) Thematic Appreciation Tests were all part of American contribution through their armed forces research, Heck Internet is also one such no?
"In any good invention there is always a mecahnical engineer behind the scene"

I think this is a civilian scam invovlving the Maha INC types, and the retired forces personnel were added for cover. Its unfortunate that despite the facts being mis-represented to the former personnel they get maligned and along with them the entire services.
And band rolls on.

It is unfortunate, but this does not seem to be wholly the case. It appears some ranking armed forces guys are deeply implicated.

Unwarranted terrorism charges against Hindus?
Quotes B Raman's quandry:
7. Thus, according to American investigators the LET and Al Qaeda were responsible for the Samjauta Express blast and the HUJI for the Mecca Masjid blast. If the American investigators, who have better sources in Pakistan, are correct, how can our investigators claim that some arrested Hindus were responsible for these incidents? Justice and fairplay demand a thorough investigation into the two different versions that have emerged from Indian and American investigators. While the American investigators have blamed the LET, Al Qaeda and the HUJI, Indian investigators have blamed the Abhinav Bharat. Both cannot be correct. ( 7-8-2010)

AHMEDABAD: The acquittal of 17 persons accused in the Gosabara RDX landing case by a TADA court in Porbandar is bound to send ripples across the country, especially in India's economic powerhouse, Mumbai. For, the Porbandar coast, within striking distance of Mahatma Gandhi's birthplace, has been a launch pad for two of the deadliest terror attacks on Indian soil.
A cache of RDX, hand grenades and AK-47 rifles meant for reprisal attacks in Mumbai after the demolition of Babri Masjid landed in Gosabara in 1993. Almost 15 years later, a fishing boat, Kuber, from the same region was used again by Ajmal Kasab and his allies for the 26/11 attack.
While the Bombay bombings of 1993 established underworld don Dawood Ibrahim as an international terrorist, the 26/11 attack brought international attention on Pakistan.
In 1993, the Jamnagar police first registered an offence in the landing case. Initially, the police believed that the conspiracy was hatched in Bedi village in Jamnagar to target Gujarat. A year later, Porbandar police claimed that the landing had taken place in Gosabara and registered another offence.
Jamnagar police recovered AK-47s and hand grenades from Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh during the investigation.
While the verdict is out in the Gosabara case, the proceedings are on for Jamnagar case in a TADA court.
Gosabara landing shook Mumbai, India

Since when did ignorance of law become a valid reason for acquital?
Now saying I did not know it was for Kargil war widows or Heros is Hogwash to put it mildly. All the three services personnel at the highest ranks were involved and add to that Babus and Netas.
Hence the origing of the word Rank & File I gues.
All contonment lands are being "Kabaza diced" by all Netas babus and Personell of the defence.
I wish we had that kind of enthusiam to "Kabza diced " aka liberate POK which is equally scenic to Colaba and also spectacular for the big chiefs lake front homes...
I understand their non interest in Aksaichin and other areas where no "Blade of Gras grows"
hey who knows with Global Warming (Harming) those will melt exposing the pristine land beneath and the California Gold rush will start....
Any idiot can tell you that building a high rise next Western Commnad Navy can not be done with out the highest rank clearing it..
Due deligence before purchase is easy to with Top brass having good connections err I mean phone connections. Ahh those capt Nanvati commited a crime of pasion now crimes of propriety over property...
Surrendering the flats now is big joke if law takes its course they would any way have to dit and additionally their back side would have been impacted for ever.... what a pincer movement to the courts and courts martial Generals....
As case of towering inferno? no not at all people forgot Kali and Ahuja this pales in comparision aand soon will forget these too.
Now Kalmadi looks like Saint. He should be ordained for missionary zeal to fill his (party's) coffers

ShivaS; the Navy claims to have never given a no objection certificate, also Army claims that it was officially asked to not question the deviations raised from the initial plan.
Right now it looks like a good plan in basic (flats for Kargil martyrs families) hijacked by the politicians (from congress) and turned into something else.
Are they all lying, or is it that the Neta's did their bit with a *few* accomplices in the forces (maybe)
Kindly do not go on tar and feather campaign.
The whole issue has also come out because of issues raised by IN and IA themselves -- otherwise it would not have, right. So clearly the organizations have been speaking out (since 2007 per reports)

How come Nepal gives free visa on arrival to Paki's? Nepal to India the routes are too fluid. Plenty fake currency and Kasabs must be passing through to the Azamgarh regions nearby. Possibly many Paki's coming and settling down too in the region. Should India not insist Nepal to do this away? Nepal after all has no land boundary or great industrial links with Pockroachland?

Sachin Saar yes and No.
The matter of allowing a high rise building looking directly into Western Command Naval HQ is itself an Internal Security threat. Just imagine a renter of the flat with a high power binoculars and good scanner of frequencies and ofcourse a bottle of Johny Walker and masala papad or Seng dhana can do.
Yes because lot of Mud is being racked up yes, we at BRF think if it is not here then the world doesnt know..
meanwhile a good Admirable Admiral descends from great heights to for a few dollars more...
At his ( Admiral Nanda's) funeral on Tuesday, celebrations of those successes were muted. But visible, by the absence of many personalities, was the controversies that Nanda kicked up after retirement. In the late 80s he was trailed by CBI investigators, after it emerged that he was a key agent for the German submarine manufacturer HDW. All through the 90s and until today his son Suresh Nanda, a former navy officer, remains a powerful arms dealers.

Nothing new at all right from Jeep Scandal we have been on to these kind of things...
in 1948 when the first case of corruption cropped up in independent India with the 'Jeep Scandal', a transaction concerting purchase of jeep for the Kashmir operation by the Army, was entered into, by V.K. Krishna Menon, the then High commissioner for India in London, with a foreign firm without observing the normal procedure. Contrary to demand for enquiry as suggested by the Enquiry Committee led by Ananthasayanam Ayyangar, the then Govt. announced that the case was closed and soon Mr. Menon was inducted in the Nehru Cabinet as Minister without Portfolio. It continued in the 1950's and 1960's with the Mudgal case (1951). Mundra deals (1957-58), Malaviya-Sirajuddin scandal (1963) and Pratap Singh Kairon case (1963) where, in spite of these cases being launched against Congress and Chief Ministers, no one resigned. The trend continued in the 1980's with the infamous V.P. Malhotra case, Fairfax deal, HBJ pipeline deal and HDW submarine deal. The 199's saw the notorious Bofors deal, Rs. 2,500 crores Airbus A-320 deal with France involving kickbacks (1990). Harshad Mehta security scam (1992), Hawala Scam of 65 crore and the Urea scam (1996). The direct effect of political corruption on a democracy is that it mars the prerequisites of a people's government like transparency, responsiveness, accountability, probity in public life, mutual understanding between the ruling and the opposition parties and good governance. It undermines democracy by flouting or even subverting formal processes in elections and legislative bodies. Thus corrupt politicians distort the representation in policy making the destroy democratic values like trust and tolerance. The corrupt politicians have also led to the gradual criminalization of politics. Thus political corruption is a multifaceted evils which gradually kills a system.
Remember Capt Rustom Nagarwala, attached to raw, who mimicked Indira Gandhi's voice over the phone in 1971, asking an sbi employee to hand over Rs 60 lakh to a Bangladeshi? He succeeded, but was arrested.
The Rs 64-crore Bofors scam that broke in 1987. We have spent even more
since trying to indict the accused, all in vain.
This my last post on corruption, I am getting neck deep into corruption myself!

ShivaS, no one is saying that every one who has ever worn a uniform must be given a clean chit with eyes closed. What I dont like is
1) blanket accusations/lumping everyone together
2) not looking at the systems own correct behavior (as in case of opposition to Adarsh by IN an IA themselves)
This does many damages
1) Will get you banned
2) Dilutes the criticism into a rant of "every one is a chor, everything is screwed we are doomed", hence even valid points gets flushed down the toilet as rant.
Lets be a little circumspect here in our broadside.

Muslims’ survey raises eyebrows
A survey conducted by a US-based agency in certain Muslim-dominated areas of the capital has sent intelligence agencies into a tizzy.
...
Home minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has said that Central help was being sought to unravel the mystery, if any, behind the exercise.According to residents of the Karimadom colony in the heart of the city, the survey conducted on October 2 had several entries which were directed at Muslims and some even questioned their patriotic spirit.
...
“‘Which country will you prefer to go if you want to live outside India?’ ‘Do you like Osama Bin Laden’, and ‘Do you hate Israel’ were some of the questions they asked,’’ said Ayesha Beevi, a housewife of the colony.
She said the team which comprised mostly women of a local agency spent more than an hour interviewing each family.
The questionnaire had about 85 questions out of which one-third was meant for Muslim families. These also included entries about their religious practices, whether they wore a burqa and their opinion on the Obama administration among other things.
Though the police let off the women who conducted the survey, a complaint has been registered against the Kochi-based agency which hired them for Washington-based Princeton Survey.

Chennai Corner
Wonderful to see Chennai police exercising themselves for potential pig attacks
Snippets from the link above
God Help Us
So, all of you who thought Chennai is a safe city because it has had no terrorist strike like Delhi/Mumbai/ Bangalore/ Pune/ Ahmedabad/Jaipur, shake yourselves out of this complacency. Here’s another reminder of how dangers could be lurking around. A mock drill called “
Operation Hamla” recently revealed various loopholes that brings home the chilling reminder: Citizens have to be alert all the time, whereas terrorists need to be lucky only once to pull off a strike.
One of the biggest security holes is that the 1,097 km-long TN coastline is an ... . But after the end of hostilities last May when LTTE chief V Prabhakaran was dead, and after the November 2008 terror attack in Mumbai, the presumption is that security agencies have our backs.
But get this, the Red Force (who were supposed to represent the baddies) outwitted the Blue Force (the good guys who are supposed to protect you) and even infiltrated a police building. This, despite a warning by a senior police officer, during the briefing to the Red and Blue teams before the terrorist games began, that if the bad guys manage to get into the police building, then God help us! Well, start praying
.
When Black Cats Cross the Road
But the good news is the NSG commandos can be relied on. Thanks to them, Mumbai was saved. And thanks to them, we can be certain that they will be on the ball. This was proved recently when there was mock takeover of a leading software company at Semmanchery and senior software engineers were taken as hostages. Needless to mention, the role of terrorists and hostages were performed by the commandos themselves. The commandos who were playing the role of the saviours, made quick work of the “enemy” in three hours and released the hostages. “Fire and rescue service personnel also assisted the NSG and SAG personnel with the drill,” a senior police officer said.
That was not all. The commandos were also tested for their rapid response during an anti-hijack drill that involved over 160 of them. The NSG had rented an aircraft from Air India to carry out the operation. “The drill was aimed at giving commandos real experience about hijacking that classroom learning cannot give them.” Chennai was made one of the NSG hubs after the Mumbai attack and are based at a training facility behind the Vandalur zoo. The place was not completely ready but the commandos were no softies demanding facilities be in place. “We needed the place for our boys to stay and to train. We don’t expect a perfect place to stay,” said a senior NSG official, very matter of factly.

Mystery US survey in Kerala raises brows
CITHARA PAUL, The Telegraph, Kolkata, Nov 6, 2010
New Delhi, Nov. 5: The Kerala government has asked the Centre to “unravel the mystery” behind a US-funded survey being done in a Muslim-dominated area of the state capital.
Conducted by UK-based market research group Taylor Nelson Sofres and funded by Washington’s Princeton Survey Research Associates, the survey has asked several communally sensitive questions, some of them aimed exclusively at Muslims.
Of its 93 questions, over half have sought answers from Muslims on issues such as their opinion of the Barack Obama administration, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, West Asia, Israel and Bangladeshi Muslims
The questionnaire has also sought to know their opinion of the Indian government and its military, where they would prefer to live other than India, if the Sharia should be made the basis of the Indian Constitution and Osama bin Laden. A section meant exclusively for Muslim women has asked questions on the burqa and what life in India is like.
The survey raised eyebrows early this week while it was being conducted in Muslim-dominated Karimadom colony in Thiruvananthapuram. Residents who grew suspicious about its contents later blocked the survey staff, including four girls, from proceeding with their work.
The office of Taylor Nelson Sofres in Kochi has been shut after police registered a complaint against them. Political parties reacted sharply to an alleged “American hand” in the matter, forcing the state to order an inquiry.
The state intelligence report, submitted on Wednesday, is believed to have recommended an inquiry by central intelligence agencies after finding a US agency was behind the survey. It is being carried out in 55 centres in 20 states, except Gujarat.
“The Kerala government has sought the Centre’s assistance as per the suggestions of state intelligence agencies. We want to find out why this happened, for whom it was done and all other details,” Kerala home minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said.
He said the survey was done without the permission of either the state or the central government.
Kerala police yesterday briefed junior home minister M. Ramachandran. “The home ministry has asked central intelligence to investigate the survey. The IB director has been asked to submit a report at the earliest,” Ramachandran said.
Taylor Nelson Sofres staff in Delhi have refused comment.

The state intelligence report, submitted on Wednesday, is believed to have recommended an inquiry by central intelligence agencies after finding a US agency was behind the survey. It is being carried out in 55 centres in 20 states, except Gujarat.
Good now it is coming out. It is happening since 2003 and even earlier. The decision for congress to align with DMK in TN and with TRS in AP are designed by these types of orgs to bring back Sonia's congress to power. I wrote this a zillion years ago and these types of things if written on BR there is a brigade that calls these as CTs or some rumors spread by hindutwavaadis. See now they are real news items.

These turds are scientists about as much as the scienteologists are scientists. Or the Alchemists were chemists. I wouldn't deify them unnecessarily by calling them 'scientists'.

Ahmedabad, 3 November, 2010
A special designated riot case court in Ahmedabad, on Wednesday asked the Special Investigation Team to probe the allegation by Rais Khan, former coordinator of NGO Center for Justice and Peace (CJP), against social activist Teesta Setalvad.
Khan had filed an affidavit claiming that he should be examined as a witness so that he could throw light on some facts of the case on how the witnesses were “tutored, cheated and made to sign false affidavits” by Teesta Setalvad. Apart from Gulbarg case, Khan has also filed a similar application in Naroda gam riot case.
In his application, Khan said, “
I am an important link which can throw light on how the victims and witnesses were tutored, cheated and made to sign false affidavits by Teesta Setalvad in the name of ‘interest of community’”.
The court asked the Supreme Court-appointed Special Investigation Team, probing the 2002 riot cases, to record statement of Khan on the affidavits, applications and statements of witnesses in the Gulburg case. The order passed by designated judge B U Joshi also asked SIT to investigate Khan’s statement and submit report in court by November 18.

Due to some reason this report is inaccessible on offstumped, so posting here for everyone to read.

War on Terror - And finally the Pakistan Link
Offstumped started this quest to unravel why Tarun Tejpal’s Tehelka went out of its way to bat for SIMI. Offstumped then revisited his ISI links from past and his recent investments. However the SIMI trail to Chicago’s so called Indian Muslim Community opened up an intersection with Tarun Tejpal’s felicitaion by IMC-USA a Chicago based Muslim Organization.
Earlier today we tied IMC-USA the front organization for opposing Narendra Modi’ visa and favorite of Communal Socialists in India to
Mr. Syed Azmatullah Qadri of Chicago. It turns out Mr. Qadri is the President of Chicago’s Mosque - The Muslim Community Center.
Now Offstumped has uncovered a document by the Pakistan Embassy that lists contributions from Mr. Qadri’s Mosque to the Pakistan President’s Relief Fund via the Pakistan Consulate of Chicago.
See how the whole story ties up.
23rd Aug 2008 - TOI reports SIMI link to CCIM Chicago from e-mail intercepts in 2001
19 Aug 2008 - Tehelka reveals a 3 month investigation by Ajit Sahi in favor of SIMI
Rewind 3 months to May-Jun of 2008
May 31st 2008 - Tarun Tejpal of Tehelka goes to Chicago to be feted by IMC-USA for Tehelka expose on Gujarat Riots before the Gujarat elections
Above 3 establish
- SIMI link to Chicago Indian Muslim organizations
- Tehelka link to SIMI
- Chicago Indian Muslim organizations link to Tehelka
So who are these Chicago Indian Muslim Organizations and what is their agenda ?
1994 - Book “Muslim Communities in North America” describes in great detail the Indo-Pak Muslim Organizations of Chicago. The piece is authored by Prof Asad Hussain, founder of CCIM, Chicago
How are these Organizations relevant today ?
IMC-USA is the main organization that has been active in putting together the Coalition for Genocide to lobby the U.S. Government
against granting a visa for Narendra Modi.
IMC-USA is registered in Chicago. Its Tax records reveal Syed Azmatullah Quadri to be the main person behind it.
Who is Syed Azmatullah Quadri ?
Mr. Quadri wears many hats but he is rarely associated with IMC-USA in its media releases. In fact several recent press releases quote Mr. Quadri as founder of IMANNET. It is interesting to note that press releases promptly condemning the Hyderabad Blasts and the UP Blasts but no press releases ever since the Indian Mujahideen started claiming responsibility for blasts - Jaipur, Ahmedabad etc…
So what exactly is IMANNET ?
To understand how much of a Islamic fundamentalist organization IMANNET is sample this solicitation for funds at a New Jersey Mosque that had Mr. Quadri’s comrade in arms Mr. Ubaid as a speaker. To also understand IMANNET’s Pakistan links see this appeal for funds by MR. Ubaid.
How are CCIM, IMANNET linked ?
Upward Bound Program an educational Program for the advancement of the underprivileged Indian Students that is supported by Indian Muslims Education Foundation of North America (IMEF North America) lists both Mr. Asad Hussain of CCIM and Mr. Quadri of IMANNET as Advisory Members describing their day jobs.
Asad Hussain, Ph.D. (President Islamic College, Chicago)
Syed Azmatullah Quadri (President Muslim Community Center, Chicago) - also read page 237 of the above book to know more about Muslim Community Center, Chicago.
Also see April 2002 event in Chicago that lists Asad Hussain and CCIM Chicago participate in Gujarat riots related event.
Also see April 2005 letter to editor in InFocus Magazine from Mohammad Yacoob National Chairman, CCIM on lobbying U.S. State Department for denial of visa to Narendra Modi the campaign for which was lead by Mr. Quadri’s overt organization IMC-USA under the banner of Coalition against Genocide.
Also see Assad Hussain’s Biography that appeared in WCMIR News Letter Winter 2007 which refers to his association with both CCIM and Muslim Community Center as well as his failing health which perhaps explains why we dont hear of him anywhere on IMC-USA’s campaigns.
How do the Qadri’s of Chicago link to Pakistan ?
See this blog that describes the Qadri family as influential in Chicago practically running the Muslim Community Center.
And finally this Pakistan Embassy document that lists some kind of fund raising between 2005 and 2006 (President’s Relief Fund) and lists Contributions from the “Muslim Community Center” as well as from 2 Qadris Saleem and Anam c/o Chicago Pakistan Consulate, Chicago.
War on Terror - More spotlight on Chicago’s Indian Muslims
In yesterday’s post we traced the many links that converged into Chicago’s so called Indian Muslim Community.
But how Indian is this Muslim Community ?
Offstumped has obtained the Tax Exempt Records of IMC-USA maintained by the U.S. Government and they reveal something interesting. The organization’s public face maybe Dr. Hyder Khan of Minneapolis who has been at the forefront of the Coalition against Genocide but the tax records list a less known name as the person in-charge based in Chicago - Syed Azmatullah Quadri.
Now Syed Azmatullah Quadri is better known and associated with another U.S. based Muslim group called Imannet. It is funny that Mr. Quadri’s name is never mentioned directly associated with IMC-USA in any of the media releases despite his name being on the Tax Records.
So what exactly does Imannet do that IMC-USA ostensibly doesnt ?
Here is a sampling from 2002.
The killers of Gandhi now rule India and openly plan to ethnically cleanse India of Muslims and Christians. They also want to annex
Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangla Desh, Mynamar (Burma) & Sri Lanka and they possess nuclear weapons. They have treated the Dalits (Black Indians) as sub-human un-touchables for 5000 years. Thats not hyperbole but an actual solicitation for a fundraiser in New Jersey that lists Mr. Quadri’s well known colleague Mr. Ubaid as a speaker.
Thats who Tarun Tejpal, Tehelka, Teesta Setalvad are associating with……
Cops had SIMI email intercepts in 2001
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Ahme ... 395017.cms
Paul John, TNN, Aug 23, 2008, 02.33am IST
AHMEDABAD: The Surat SIMI conference, it is believed, was organized by an assistant professor in Jodhpur University, Abdulhai Abdulsattar Silavat, with two others whose names are still not known. The prime objective of this meet was the recruitment of Muslim youth after the ban was imposed in September 2001.
During the course of the investigation, the police intercepted emails by a SIMI activist from Ahmedabad, Suhel Patel. Suhel was a US-born Indian from Paguthan village in Bharuch district of south Gujarat, living in Ahmedabad for nearly 15 years.
The email messages revealed vital information on the financial support being provided by two US-based organizations: the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) and the Chicago-based Consultative Committee of Indian Muslims (CCIM).
One of the messages dated December 11, 2001 contained a Rs 1.24-crore proposal forwarded by Suhel to one mehman (guest) for sustaining the SIMI movement following its ban in September that year. The break-up of the fund was thus - Rs 48 lakh for the families of the arrested SIMI leaders and Rs 25 lakh as legal aid for fighting their court cases.
Suhel had asked for Rs 12 lakh for offering scholarships for thoseworking for the "cause" and another Rs 7 lakh to launch a magazine on "Muslim brotherhood and making Muslims aware of the fast-changing situation in the Islamic world".
In his confession to then Surat joint commissioner of police Ashish Bhatia, Suhel confessed to drawing up the proposal following a directive from the then SIMI President Shahid Badr Falahi.
Suhel revealed that one of his brothers-in-law Yasin Ghulamrasool Patel, who owned a printing press in Ahmedabad had travelled to Chicago for collecting funds for SIMI. Suhel was one of the many recruited by Badr to amass funds for SIMI.
Other e-mail messages in Suhel's account show how money is being transferred from the US to India. Rafik, his Chicago-based brother-in-law, has written to him about an ISNA conference in the US attended by delegates from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Singapore and India on August 31, 2000.
Rafik's email to one Chicago-based Professor Munnawar Hussein "of the Jamaat" explains the new operations for SIMI which was to target universities, unions, women, farmers and local field workers and create a political wing of SIMI. Rafik had also advised Patel to delete every message as soon as it has been read.
