One hopes Hindus keep out of these infra-Sikh issues. They do seem rather bizarre. But that is the culture of panjab. West or east.

From the slogans one can judge that these doing demonstration were trying to disturb Dushehra celebration using delaying tactics. Phagwara was the only area communal tension was almost non existent when whole Punjab was burning. These demos are well planned , intentional and financed by their no good patrons.A_Gupta wrote:Hindu-Sikh clash averted.

It is an internal conflict that has little to do with Khalistan and everything to do with people's dissatisfaction with their leaders who are a poor representation of their aspirations as well as their faith, says, writer Amandeep Sandhu who has been working on a book on the state. The Sikh community has been organised in a layered power structure for three centuries. There are five takhts in the community; the high priests of these takhts have been oracles for the Sikhs on matters of religion, conflict, community building and society.
There are also the Panj Pyaras, the five chosen Khalsas that are the absolute supreme and are usually elected by the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC), which is the central managing committee of Gurudwaras. These structures were laid down in place with the aim of community representation and placing power in the hands of people, just like the modern day democracy, rather in the hands of a chosen few high priests.
Over the last few decades, the SGPC has come under fire for increasing religious intolerance, high levels of corruption and aiding politicians especially the Akali Dal. The anger that we saw in Punjab over the last couple of days has been simmering for a long time coming.
As Gurudwaras become more jingoistic in their doctrine of religious philosophy, they are slowly losing their appeal to a number of people living in Punjab, especially the minorities and the Dalits, who prefer to go to various Deras instead as they offer them a more secular indoctrination and are ironically more accepting of them.
These Dera chiefs also play out an important role in politics as they have the power to influence voters. For example, when the Akal Takht issued directives to all Sikhs to cut tie with Ram Rahim and his followers in 2007, and filed a police case against him, he retaliated by urging all his followers to vote Congress in the upcoming assembly polls. The result of which was a majority of Congress seats in south Punjab, where most of his followers reside.
Majority of the Sikh anger is directed at the inability of the state to comprehend its issues and the low level of tolerance that it shows for dissent. In a healthy society, there will be debate and dialogue. People should be allowed to protest, the more the state tries to repress dialogue, the more issues will fester.
RAND believes that Trinamool will have a say in India's Myanmar policies and AIADMK in Malaysia policies in future coalition govts. The Americans have been very active in Chennai and Kolkata by the way and they are using academic Tamil and Bengali expats to find their way.
I will encourage all "I wannabe like a red republican' to closely read this RAND report. https://t.co/wWLdIuMvZm
America is licking its lips at the prospect of a return to coalition governments. It's outreach to caste and regional parties has increased. Not that it is really complaining even at the moment, since it has been receiving steady CBMs on the import front.
And do note, the US DIA (Defense Intelligence Agency) seemed to have a very good idea of a growing 'Maoist insurgency' in Kerala even two years ago. CIA has interlocutors down to the level of even small organizations in India now. Their NGO network really came in handy.
these so called dying embers are enough to embarrass Modi during his UK trip, such disgruntled elements along with kashmeris and EJ xtians and jehadi paki muslims can easily be coordinated and orchestrated by someone like the ISI to bring a bad press to Modi and India.svenkat wrote:Theres not going to be any khalistan movement again. These are the dying embers of the fire lit long back.imho etc.

Mangaluru, Oct 24, 2015, (PTI)
Another accused in the murder of a Bajrang Dal activist Prashanth Poojary involved in busting illegal slaughter houses was arrested today before he was to fly to Dubai from Mumbai airport.
Acting on a look-out circular set by Mangaluru Police to all airports across the country, 40-year-old Mohammad Imtiaz Gantalkatte was picked up by immigration officials at Mumbai airport, Additional Director General of Police Alok Mohan told reporters here.
A team has been sent to Mumbai to bring the accused back to Mangaluru for investigation, he said.
With this, nine persons have so far been arrested for the murder of Prashant Poojary, a 29-year old flower vendor who was brutally hacked to death by six bike-borne men at nearby Moodbidri on October nine.
Mangaluru Police Commissioner S Murugan had earlier said the accused were upset over Poojary's activities against illegal trafficking of cattle.
The brutal attack had happened 12 days after 50-year-old Mohammad Akhlaq was lynched by a mob at Dadri in Uttar Pradesh over beef eating rumours, that led to a nation-wide outrage.
A witness to the murder, Vaman Poojary, had allegedly committed suicide a week after Prashant Poojary's killing, with Bajrang Dal saying he was facing threats to his life.
Accusing Congress government in Karnataka of showing negligence in unearthing the "conspiracy" behind the murder, BJP has demanded handing over the case to CBI for probe.
And the US senators should have conducted an internal investigation back in Washington as to who authorized the training of the Khalistani terrorists in American facilities in collaboration with the ISI.sudeepj wrote:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-2aQxn5uFM
Wonderful interview of KPS Gill. Mostly in English, with some smattering of Punjabi.
".. Once we had visitors, senators from the US, visiting us to conduct an investigation. We took them to the DAV Police school, which had mainly orphans of policemen killed by the terrorists. They asked, who are these children? We told them these are the children of the policemen killed by terrorists. The inquiries stopped. Because Western civilization does not accept this thing. We think killing of a police officer is normal. Our society does not understand how it runs.."
The Nation salutes the brave IB officer who was martyred in the cause of service to our nation. Heartfelt sympathies to the families of the IB officer as well as the trader,Bodies of Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer Bikash Singh and a trader, who were kidnapped by insurgents in Meghalaya’s South Garo Hills district a month ago, were found buried in a jungle.
“We have recovered body of the IB officer and that of the trader on Saturday from a shallow grave in a forested area in Bolchugre,” South Garo Hills SP Lakador Syiem said.
They were killed a day after their abduction on September 24 and the bodies were moderately decomposed, he said.
Family members of the victims have identified the bodies as those of Singh and cloth merchant Kamal Saha, Mr. Syiem said.
The two were kidnapped at gunpoint by members of the A’chik Songna An’pachakgipa Kotok (ASAK) militant outfit on September 24 from a place between Ampangre and Panda reserve forest in the district.
Mr. Syiem said the breakthrough came after police arrested and interrogated Sengran Shira, the brother of ASAK commander Sengbat Shira, who led them to the site where the duo were killed.
The bodies were handed over to the respective families after post-mortem.
The hospital has written over three letters to the police saying that Asif is not leaving the hospital even after he has completely recovered. Further, political leaders have been creating a nuisance in the hospital by gathering around Asif.
The allegation made by Asif that the police officials asked him to leave for Pakistan has also been proved false. Two Muslim men, who were present in the police station at the time of the incident, have testified against the boy.
Chhota Rajan’s ‘surrender’ in Indonesia was facilitated by Indian agencies last Wednesday.
Rajendra Sadashiv Nikalje aka Chhota Rajan was travelling as Kumar Mohan from Sydney when he was ‘officially’ arrested at Bali airport on Sunday.

Coinciding with his surrender (officially detained last Wednesday), the crime branch of Mumbai raided all residential and commercial properties of Khushi developers (Chhota Rajan’s construction company) and his politician brother Deepak Nikhalje’s flats in Mumbai.
Ajit Kumar Doval, the 70 year old National Security Advisor, is believed to be the brain behind the mission. Just a few days before Rajan’s arrest Doval is reported to have spoken to a few people claiming to be in Indonesia.
With the surrender/arrest of Chhota Rajan, who is unwell and struggling to escape from his rival gangs, the current regime is hoping to get crucial evidence of global terrorist Dawood and his activities.
Agencies are working overtime to throw concrete evidence of the presence of Dawood in Pakistan under the ISI protection.
· Ajit Kumar Doval, the former head of the Indian Intelligence Bureau (IB) has been trailing Chhota Rajan and his henchmen to get leaks on D gang’s activities for years.
· A media story brought him into limelight in 2008 when the IB reportedly planned to target Dawood Ibrahim at his daughter’s wedding with Javed Miandad’s son in Hyatt hotel, Dubai.
· Media reports had pointed out then that Doval worked out a plan for the IB to send Vicky Malhotra, a sharp shooter from Rajan gang, to target Dawood in Dubai.
the officer would be remembered as another star on this.Varoon Shekhar wrote:SSridhar wrote:

Yes, in a democratic Western country, this would be huge news, overtaking anything else, barring a massive terrorist attack. In India, the response will be muted at least officially, and definitely in the media and among intellectuals. If there's commentary about their deaths, even one-tenth of the amount spent on Dadri etc, it would be a shocker. Imagine an Indian columnist or academic displaying empathy for these two people and their families.

There seems to be much more than what meets the eye here. Mumbai Police 'Kept in Dark' on Plan to Arrest Chhota Rajan, Say SourcesThe two countries do not have an extradition treaty, so it is likely that the Tilak Nagar don will be deported. Sources claimed that a lot of planning had gone into the arrest, with several Indian ministers flying to Indonesia over the past month or so to hammer out the terms on which Rajan's custody would be transferred to Indian authorities.
From what I read in the paper's today, witness Anoop's goof up in the court (deliberate or accidental) may weaken the prosecution case. One thing, his credibility as a witness can now be questioned. The court may not consider all his statements to be really true. Mohammed Nisham's life seems to be totally shady, as no one knowns how he made so much money. Some say, he has some kind of deal with cigarette manufacturers in the form of steady royalty payments. Govindachamy is now in Central Prison, Kannur - and the chap has become put on weight as well. The death sentence has been perhaps given by the Sessions Court. The state has not done any thing to execute the death sentence. Don't know if Chamy has filed an appeal (or I guess it happens automatically when death penalty is given). The government should have just followed through, ensured that appeals get heard and the sentence upheld.hnair wrote:I remember some serious pressure generated via MSM and social media, to get capital punishment for Govindachamy. Indian security agencies such as the National Security Guard, the Border Security Force and the Karnataka police have shown interest in acquiring balloon-based aerial surveillance systems from Israel’s RT, according to the Israeli company’s Bengaluru-based partner Mistral Solutions.
The aerostat system, widely used by the Israel Defence Forces and recently purchased by the U.S. army, includes a helium balloon that is tethered to a mobile ground platform and provides surveillance images from its airborne perch.
“Mistral’s forte in homeland security solutions has encouraged us to venture into the Indian market and we have so far received some positive signals from the various security and surveillance departments in India,” said Rami Shmueli, chief executive at RT.
India is expected to emerge as one of the largest players in homeland security systems by 2020, according to a report by Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India and KPMG.
The report projects that India, along with Britain, Germany and France, will outgrow the United States, which enjoys about 35 percent of global procurement in this field. The helium-inflatable device is equipped with imaging equipment having long-range day and night-time thermal capabilities.
The juvenile convicted in the brutal December 16 gang rape may walk free a week before his three-year sentence ends next month as the Delhi government is keen to keep him away from public and media attention and the boy too fears he may be “lynched” the moment he leaves the “safety” of the reform home.
“He is scheduled to be released on December 15 but we know there will be a lot of attention on him that day. For his safety, we plan to release him a week in advance,” said a senior government official. An early release, however, is subject to permission from the Juvenile Justice Board, sources said.
They added the juvenile, now a young man of 20, will be handed over to his mother – native of a village in Uttar Pradesh – in a videographed event outside the Majnu Ka Tila shelter home. The family will be given Rs 20,000 and escorted to an undisclosed location.
The Intelligence Bureau, which had raised suspicions of the boy being radicalised after he was shifted with a juvenile apprehended for the Delhi high court blasts, will also be kept in the loop. In a report to the Centre on Friday, the Delhi government said the boys were lodged together on the orders of the Juvenile Justice Board.
HT had on July 11 quoted the shelter home staff as saying that the boy feared for his safety and did not want to leave the home. Counsellors said he had turned religious, grew a beard and offered namaz five times a day.
HT had also reported that he was lodged with a boy who was apprehended for the HC blasts. Based on the report, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi following which the IB conducted an inquiry. The two juveniles spent more than a year together before IB intervention. The staff of the home too had requested for them to be separated.
In its report, the Delhi government has said that the Juvenile Justice Board wanted the boy to be shifted to a better room with a television set. It named officers under whose guidance the juvenile was shifted and also named seven superintendents, four welfare officers and counsellors and one nurse who were posted there in the last three years. “It is evident that officials of the home are aware of the crisis situation and have brought it to the notice of the Juvenile Justice Board regularly for appropriate directions for keeping them separate,” the report said.
The juvenile was sent to the shelter home after being convicted in the rape and murder of a 23-year-old woman in a moving bus on the night of December 16, 2012 — a case that triggered nation-wide protests and led to tougher laws for crime against woman. Five other adults convicted for the crime were sentenced to death of whom one was found dead in his Tihar Jail cell in a suspected suicide.
