Guess what?? Dynasty was going to move out of Canada anyway as they cannot sell their cars there in the first place. Canada has banned several models of electric cars because they're deemed as unsafe on their roads and the Dynasty was one of them. They're legal in most US states though and the Pakis are going to keep exporting them to the US apparently. I think there must have been some Paki-origin bigwig in the company who bought it to keep production going.

It seems a bit too big to swallow, esp when he can buy other sources of ore much cheaper.
If he does attempt it, this will cause gigantic heartburn to the the nice folks in poodledum and poodledee, they will make the former Arcelor CEP Guy Dolle appear like a free market champion by comparison.

The source is News of the world, which is highly unreliable.
An Indian owner of Newcastle will really anger some people. Mr Ambani will become subject to false gossip (like Diana, Prince Charles, Abromiwich etc).
Why does he not spend 260 million pounds (some 2000 crores) towards Indian sports. Kids in his own country (where his father made his $$$$) do not even have the basic sports facilities.

completely missed that part of the article. From past few years rediff's reporting has been going downhill..why on earth will any indian newspaper quote news of the world. Day is not far away when indian DDM will quote from playboy or hustler.
BTW
Reliance has denied the buyout

I remember arriving as a student in manchester and purchasing a copy of the "News of the world". I took the first 3 pages seriously and was socked. Only after that did I realise that most of the stores are pure fiction.
here is a link for those interested to read the worlds worst newspaper

X-posting from the Indian Economy thread as this might be a better place:
This shows India Inc's appetitie is still intact:
Tata Power Says It Will Bid for Singapore's Senoko
``We confirm the development,'' Mumbai-based Tata Power said in a statement today after the Business Standard reported that Senoko Power may be sold for more than $3 billion. The Indian company will get access to generation capacity of 3,300 megawatts should it win the bid, the report said.
The acquisition will be Tata Power's second large investment overseas. The utility spent $1.2 billion on buying two mines in Indonesia last year to secure coal supplies. Tata Power has invested 240 billion rupees ($5.7 billion) to build 5,600 megawatts of thermal and wind power capacity across India.

Anand, please provide a link or your source for the $100B in 2007. The following link has Thomson Financial reporting $22.3B in 2007 and 2006 being the record year so far at $24B.
