Yes it is the time for the change and they want whole sale change.
Anybody remember Washington Post article about who will be the next in line in INC top few months ago. Why are they interested in that. Somebody is forcing the issue if they could not find out what is happening and they are unable to influence the final outcome.

MMS is a like an honest leader of a bunch of thieves. He is caught up in between. But point is MMS can't escape responsibility in our constitutional set up. He is the ultimate leader under whose watch everything happened. If he wants people remember him as a honest PM, this is his chance. Speak up in parliament, name names, tell everything....accept his role whatever that is and resign. He will be remembered as someone who listened to his conscience.
IMHO, this is also a test case for BJP. Since everyone seems to be involved - industrialists, INC, DMK, son-in-law of ABV (more clarification is needed to confirm though) bureaucrats, journalists, there will be tremendous pressure on BJP to not to take this to the conclusion. Some sort of arrangement will be proposed which will be the face saver for INC and without giving the impression that BJP didn't fight for corruption. BJP might play along to avoid dragging the name of ABV.
This could also be the opportunity for BJP/RSS to really differentiate themselves. (1) Make BSY resign, let there be a probe in whatever scandals that are happening in Karnataka, and (2) launch NaMo in dilli to fight the corruption battle. This could make 2G the Bofors of current times. All this is unlikely to happen though...most likely BJP will play along.
This is becoming a political thriller now!

I don't know about that. MMS problem is he is not family and secondly due to coaltion compulsoins he had to look other way while the loot was going on. SG the indirect beneficiary of the scam (it keeps her party in power) and give homilis about how India is becoming corrupt despite her minions enabling it!

Right on target. When comes to corruption people relate it to only money/material. But there are even bigger reasons for corruption. First of all we don't even know yet and may be we will never know that how much money MMS and SG got from these various scam. But there is clear indication that, to save the chair MMS has overlooked all this. If he is Mr. clean then why didn't he just made all these information public and submit the resignation in-front of entire nation. He is big time guilty, but going by his past records he won't offer his resignation unless he is forced to resign.

I feel like to throw up just listening to her Bhajan. shaardula, Add to that. Stalin has cancer and is undergoing medical treatment. Azhagiri is a big rowdy and his sphere of influence doesn't go past Madurai and Chennai. People will not accept him as a leader, so he may just get a party post in the future. This is just holding together because MK is alive. I don't think DMK will survive post MK. Maran's have a lot of respect - especially Daya (although he has his own skeletons too), so Maran's will become a power to reckon with considering how much money and power they have amassed.

RamaY, I have been a bitter critic of MMS for the way he handled N-deal, openly lied to the parliament, for saying RSS was behind 1984 anti-Sikh riots, for his statement in Oxford etc. There is no doubt he has been the weakest PM India ever had. Though he has been able to maintain personal financial integrity and a manufactured clean image via friendly media. There was a little bit of sarcasm in what I wrote and I wanted to avoid a slanging match with MMS apologists (there are many on this forum).

Please do not take my response as criticism against you. I am just offering a different POV. You can take my posts to task if they do not make sense.
People think that they are honest if they do not take money. But what about them watching others steal thousands of crores of public money? Does it constitute financial integrity? One should see MMS from that reference.
What value he has to take the job of PM, with no hold on the party nor on the cabinet colleagues? Why is he working ~20 hrs/day at this age when he can happily retire. What makes him get up in the morning and face the nonsense from RG/SG and their coterie?
Let me give you a scenario. If you were in MMS's shoes, would you sacrifice your PM seat if it results in say Rs 170,000 crore savings to GOI (That is ~$40B) and puts say top 10 corrupt leaders behind bars?
Let me raise your value a bit. How about your ability to bring say $150B of corrupt money from foreign banks to India paying up all external debts of this nation???
What more value MMS thinks he is giving the nation? What more (even if it is self-satisfaction) value he is getting by staying in his position.

In another thread people were talking about what would a common man do in such a situation? I would welcome a different PM every 5 years if they do one thing at a time. A JK here, A UCC there, A universal-education here, a universal health care there, a nuclear triad here, a LCA there, a renewable energy source here, a highway network there.... and the list goes on...

This is a good basis of fundamentals to start working with. Let me use Scott Adams dictum, which says:
Men are greedy.
Men are pompous.
Men are horny.
So, let's add to it.
Men are corrupt.
No gender preference is implied, it is just convenient to write it.
Given, these fundamental Lemmas, how to work around it. These traits cannot be eliminated, but can possibly be channelled and maintained to yield common good. If one says that they have a solution (apologies to Rahul Mehta) that will completely eliminate any of the fundamental Lemmas, that surely looks like somebody is selling a bridge. The question is how these fundamental traits can be harnessed for betterment of mankind?
Societies that have better management process for these issues progress. Well for others pakistaniyat will be the result.

A request for people who undestand QuickTime & downloading nuances. Can anyone download all those tapes in Outlook website to their machine? There is fear in twitter that Sundeep Dougal & Vinod Mehta of Outlook might be pressured to remove them.
A few months back, when CBI report got published in "The Hindu" website having the same stories of Vir Sanghvi & Barkha, it was pulled out in a few hours.

Well said. The differences between India and Pakistan are surprisingly small. People just do not want to believe it. Enforcement of the simple ethical values dharma is the only way forward. Lies and corruption need exceptinal punishment. Every Indian knows how bad lies and corruption can be but the punishment in our folklore is far more stringent than the punishment in the British inspired Indian Penal Code that allows the corrupt to get away.

One political commentator had written recently that one school of thought within Congress (Rahul's supporters) is that Congress should engineer a crisis and then go for mid term elections elections with Rahul as PM candidate.
Is this the crisis that this faction was looking for.
Regardless of what happens, this just shows that the system is rotten to the core. Moneyed people are muscling in, manipulating media, politicians.
Is a real clean up really possible? I am not optimistic at all.

You forgot mother of all scams by late YSR. His gang of congressmen stole '00,000 crores and virtually funded 2009 congress win at center.
