Hasan Nawaz Sharif goes bankrupt in London. PTI supporters say ‘check Swiss bank accounts’
Hasan Nawaz, the son of former Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif, has been declared bankrupt by the High Court of Justice in London over unpaid tax liabilities. But Pakistanis see it as a way to hide wealth.

On Monday, Dawn reported about Hasan’s bankruptcy, the order for which was issued in April and published in the UK Gazette.

Supporters of jailed former prime minister Imran Khan lapped up the news, saying it could also be a business trick—“to extract money from other sources.”

“What does that mean? Is this some kind of game by Sharif family to skip some taxes or what?” said one user on X, with a cover photo of Imran Khan on the profile.

During the protest's conclusion, PTI held a press conference attended by several key leaders, including Ali Amin Gandapur. However, Bushra Bibi's absence raised concerns, prompting questions on social media about her sudden disappearance.
PTI leader Maryam Wattu claimed that Bushra Bibi had been kidnapped, though other party members did not confirm this allegation.

Meanwhile, Ali Amin Gandapur managed to evade capture once again. Following a government operation on Tuesday night, both Gandapur and Bushra Bibi left the Blue Area. Despite attempts by protesters to stop them, they continued their journey. The couple was later spotted in Mansehra, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a PTI stronghold, according to media reports.

Bakistani TV presenter Anwar Maqsood has hit the establishment with his sharp satire and the message hasn’t been lost on anyone, with some demanding a ban on him. What followed his college visit in Karachi, where he aired comments criticising the military and politicians, was a barrage of phone calls at his residence inquiring whether he had been abducted by the state.

At the event in Karachi on 5 December, Maqsood said, “The most dignified people in the Pakistan Army are in the Navy—Kyunki wo doob ke marr jaate hain (Because they drown and die).”

“You will find illegitimate children everywhere in the world, but you’ll only find an illegitimate government in Pakistan,” continued the 85-year-old satirist adding that “The constitution has been prostituted here.”

Days after the Pakistan government allotted PKR 2 billion to their Army to combat fake news, an investigation by Drop Site News revealed a shocker: the Army itself was allegedly using a ghost think tank to spread misinformation about Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, or PTI.

The irony is not lost on Pakistanis, who are both embarrassed and shocked.

“This is why the sheriff of Pindi needed 2 billion rupees,” Pakistani X user @eyesofchange noted.

It all started when a Pakistan broadcast channel, GTV aired a segment on 20 December, based on a report titled “Democracy Under Siege: Economic Fallout and Diplomatic Implications of Protests in Pakistan.”

The paper was attributed to a Washington DC-based think tank named the Beltway Grid Policy Centre, which claimed that the ongoing protests by former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s PTI were causing significant harm to the country’s economy.

According to the report, PTI’s protests were leading to daily economic losses of PKR 190 billion, adding up to PKR 3 trillion in cumulative damages.

Except that weeks later, it came out that Beltway Grid Policy Centre didn’t quite exist.

Instead, Drop Site uncovered that the think tank was entirely staffed by AI-generated “experts,” many of whom had names straight out of 19th-century literature, such as Elijah Bowers and Lina Abi-Saab.

“The organization may be so hard at work defending the policies of the Pakistan military and criticizing former Prime Minister Imran Khan, the team simply hasn’t had time to lead previous lives,” the investigative report sarcastically noted.

What’s more, DropSite found that the numbers cited in the report—particularly the PKR 190 billion daily loss—mirrored a similar internal report allegedly circulated by the Pakistan Army.

The similarities pointed to the possibility that the military may have ‘created’ the fake think tank and its report as part of a wider propaganda effort.

Moreover, the ghost think tank’s research specialists—Bowers and Abi-Saab—were specifically identified as experts in ‘5th Generation Warfare,’ a concept that revolves around managing information and perception, especially in digital spaces. This raised suspicions that the report was part of a larger information war, aimed not at foreign audiences or international media but at Pakistan’s military leadership itself.

The term ‘5th Generation Warfare’ is a term often used by Pakistan’s military leadership to describe digital or hybrid warfare tactics, and has become a favourite catchphrase in Rawalpindi’s military circles, the report said.

Afghanistan’s Taliban regime on Wednesday resorted to the unprecedented step of accusing elements in Pakistan of sheltering militants in Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa with the intent of attempting “attacks in different countries in the region”, reflecting the sharp downturn in ties between Kabul and Islamabad.

The accusation was levelled in the five-page annual report of the Taliban’s Central Commission for Security and Clearance Affairs, a body led by the deputy defence minister that is involved in combating terrorism and militancy. The report was issued after an annual meeting of the body chaired by the Taliban’s acting defence minister Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid.

The Taliban commission’s report said leaders and members of various groups involved in spreading disorder fled to neighbouring countries after their networks in Afghanistan were dismantled over the past three years. These elements are “regrouping with the tacit approval, tolerance, and indirect support of certain parties” and “have been provided shelter in Balochistan and certain tribal areas of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa” provinces of Pakistan.

Ready to fight 10 wars for Kashmir, says Gen Asim

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Syed Asim Munir said on Wednesday that Pakistan would not be intimidated by India's military strength or its modern technology, declaring that the country was ready to fight 10 wars if needed for Kashmir.

Addressing the elders and citizens of Muzaffarabad, the army chief assured that despite the temporary challenges facing the nation, Pakistan would continue to stand by its Kashmiri brethren in their just and legitimate cause against Indian state-sponsored oppression.

"Pakistan has already fought three wars for Kashmir, and if 10 more wars are required, Pakistan will fight them," the army chief said. "Pakistan will not be intimidated by India's military strength or its modern technology," he added.

"Kashmir is Pakistan's jugular vein. If the jugular vein is severed, death occurs. Kashmir is our life," he emphasised. "Without any doubt Kashmir will be free one day and become part of Pakistan – the destiny of the people of Kashmir."

He said that Indian atrocities and rising Hindutva extremism only strengthened the resolve of the Kashmiri people in their struggle for self-determination. He also said that in the present-day world, the voice of those with power was heard, "and Pakistan is a powerful country".

Gen Asim said that Pakistan was on the path to progress, stressing that the those who were saying that the country would default were lying. With the economic progress in just one year, he said, Pakistan had even surprised the IMF [International Monetary Fund] and World Bank.

Pakistani cleric and lawmaker Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman claimed five to seven districts of Balochistan province could announce liberation. He referred to the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war that led to the liberation of Bangladesh, warning that a similar event could happen again.

He revealed in the Pakistan National Assembly (NA), the nation’s parliament, that the United Nations could accept the announcement of declaration of liberation from these parts of the province.
“If districts in Balochistan announce liberation, the UN will accept their independence and Pakistan will fall," Fazl-ur-Rehman said.

Separatist militants from the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) targetted a train in Pakistan's Balochistan province, injuring the train driver and claiming to have taken over 100 passengers, including security personnel, hostage.

A passenger train in Pakistan carrying around 500 people was hijacked by insurgents in the country’s restive Balochistan province on Tuesday. The Balochistan Liberation Army that claimed the attack -- insurgents opened fire on the Jaffar Express -- said that it had taken 182 hostages, adding that eleven Pakistani military personnel had been killed. The separatist group also threatened to execute all hostages if security forces didn’t retreat.

Mohammad Abdur Razzaque, chairman of Research and Policy Integration for Development, said that Bangladesh needs a reliable, competitive and diversified supply of key commodities, including food and energy, for future economic growth.

Pakistan could be a valuable sourcing destination in this regard, increasing competition among supplying countries, he added.
