Yes saar!
Broadly speaking he said that the alliance was doomed from the start itself. They were dominant paetner and bjp was junior partner. All the shots were called by pdp and all the major portfolio as well.
What came out was bjp put itself, jammu and ladhak regions on the lines and got nothing nada zilch from this unholy alliance.
On the side note, it felt nothing short of doing harakiri or inflicting death by thousand cuts on yourself.

Yes, going with the PDP put BJP (and all of J&K) in a bad situation.
Yet, I wonder if Mr. Pandit considers the alternative. What if INC and NC (or INC and PDP) had formed the J&K govt instead?
In my view that would have been MUCH worse. At least BJP as part of the ruling alliance in J&K was able to exercise some limited degree of control, and coordinate to some extent with the Central Govt in neutralizing terrorists and maintaining law & order.
INC on the other hand is a pro-Pakistan party in any case. After the 2014 general election it would have had nothing to lose by throwing in its lot with the anti-national elements of J&K, sabotaging any attempt by the Central Govt. to combat separatism, encouraging a systemic breakdown of law-and-order... and in fact, everything to gain, because it could blame the Central Govt. for whatever went wrong in the state. In addition, the hyper-criminalized political ecosystem in J&K, including the separatists' transnational sources of funding, would have become a fresh source of ill-gotten gains for the INC's coffers. Given the Lutyens media's excessive preoccupation with J&K over any other state or region, the stories of chaos and violence in J&K would have come to dominate the news cycle and set back the narrative of sabka saath, sabka vikaas everywhere else. Stone-pelters would have become secular heroes with Digvijaya Singh defending them on national television. The army's morale would have been under constant assault. Major Gogoi would probably have been arrested or worse.
Modi considered both options and realized that the disadvantages of a BJP-PDP partnership were outweighed by the dangers of letting the INC claw its way into power in J&K. However bad things became locally under BJP-PDP, Modi judged (correctly IMO) that the fight for Congress-Mukt Bharat was a more pressing national priority.

NEW DELHI: The Indian Army has asked the Pakistan military to take back bodies of two "intruders" from that country who were killed in a gunfight along the Line of Control in Sunderbani sector of Jammu on Sunday, official sources said.
Two heavily armed Pakistani intruders and three soldiers were killed on Sunday in the gunfight after the Army foiled an infiltration bid along the LoC.
The intruders were believed to be members of a Border Action Team (BAT) comprising Pakistan Army jawans and trained terrorists, an Army officer said on condition of anonymity on Sunday.
The sources said the Pakistan Army has been informed through established communication channels to take the bodies of its nationals, who were wearing combat uniform.
Army sources said a stern warning has been conveyed to the Pakistan Army to restrain terrorists operating from its soil.
The sources said five to six Pakistani intruders crossed the LoC and fired on Indian Army patrol in the Sunderbani sector.
They said since the talks between DGMOs (Director General of Military Operations) of the two countries on May 29, the Indian Army has been maintaining "utmost restraint" to uphold the ceasefire pact along the LoC despite regular provocative actions from across the border.
However, Pakistan Army has been vigorously attempting to send terrorists across the LoC and seven infiltration bids have been foiled by the Indian Army since May 30, in which 23 terrorists have been killed.
Reports suggest concentration of a large number of terrorists in launch pads across the order and they are desperate to infiltrate into India before the onset of winter.

Rajendra Singh (22) was part of a Quick Reaction Team (QRT) that was providing security to a Border Roads Organisation convoy. When the convoy was passing through Anantnag bypass tri-junction, youths hurled stones at the vehicle injuring Singh.
such elements are emboldened by the amnesty granted by the Home Minister Rajnath Singh to stone throwers.
JAMMU: The Indian Army has targeted Pakistani military administrative headquarters across the Line of Control in retaliation to the recent shelling in Poonch and Jhallas, security officials said on Monday.
The Army retaliated in the Khuiratta and Samani areas of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir
(PoK), they said.
The Pakistani army had shelled the brigade headquarters and other Indian military formations in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch on October 23.
"In response to Pakistani army's firing of stray shells on Poonch and Jhallas on October 23, 2018, the Indian Army has sent a strong signal by firing at Pakistani army administrative headquarters ... and the residents of border villages also reported that they could see smoke emanating," the officials said.
Following the shelling in Poonch, the Indian Army has in its "strong signal" to Pakistan, fired on its army administrative headquarters in PoK, they said.
Quoting information received from across the border, the officials claimed that several photographs "stood testimony" to the reports of border villagers, who said they had seen smoke emanating from the Pakistani headquarters after the Indian military's retaliatory action.
They said the Indian Army has exercised maximum restraint, despite continuous provocation by the Pakistani army.
The Army has avoided targeting civilian population living in the close proximity of the Line of Control (LoC) in PoK areas such as Hajira, Bandi Gopalpur, Nikial, Samani and Khuiratta, the officials said.
Following the 2016 surgical strikes, the pressure on the Pakistani army was kept across the LoC through "proactive and precise targeting" by the Indian Army, they said.
The officials claimed that against the more than 138 fatal casualties suffered by the Pakistani army in the area in 2017, the numbers reduced to half till May 2018 after the neighbouring nation was forced to request for a ceasefire in the face of mounting deaths and injuries.
They also highlighted the recent killing of two Pakistan Border Action Team personnel in the Sunderbani sector on October 21 and the country's refusal to accept their bodies.
"Deprivation and penury of locals of PoK suits the Pakistan army that while ensconced in the safety of their posts, use these unwitting and brainwashed youths as cannon fodder for actions along the LoC, a cowardly and unprofessional modus operandi for any self respecting army," the officials said.
"These acts of the Pakistan army are accentuated by their propensity in refusing to acknowledge and accept the dead bodies of their soldiers as also of terrorists, each time the terrorists are neutralised in operations along the LoC or the hinterland," they said.

Some quite interesting pictures of terrorists in Kashmir operations on Twitter.
A madness that binds: The common thread linking murdered J&K BJP secretary Anil Parihar with Pakistan's Asia Bibi
The shooting, only a few days before the festival of Diwali, was so brutal, it left the area in shock and under curfew as investigations are underway, probing possible militant involvement. However, the timing of the murder is not surprising, given what is happening quite near Kishtwar. In neighbouring Pakistan.
Today, Pakistan is facing protests and sit-ins across the country, called by the Labbaik-e-Pakistan (LeP) chief Khadim Rizvi and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) chief Hafiz Saeed. The reason — the Supreme Court of the nation recently found a poor Christian woman, Asia Bibi, innocent of blasphemy, and ordered her release. This, after the woman spent eight years in prison, on death row. And after jihadi elements gunned down people speaking up for her, including the Governor of Punjab, Salmaan Taseer, and minority affairs minister Shabaz Bhatti, in 2011.
But their murders have clearly not satisfied the likes of the Lashkar and Labbaik ganglords.Joined by other jihadi outfits that have sprung up like acne on Pakistan’s nuclear-moustachioed face, these groups are leading the mobs baying for Asia Bibi’s blood now. The woman has reportedly been banned from leaving the country by a government that is duty-bound to provide her — and particularly after the intense suffering she's undergone — safe passage to any country which can offer her the decency of a modern, and not an insane medieval, state.
The murder of Anil Parihar, and the potential murder of Asia Bibi, are deeply — in fact, inextricably — linked. For the militancy of Kashmir is now nothing more than a mirror to the growing madness of Pakistan.
Kashmiri terrorists today don’t even bother with the pretence of 'azaadi' for the sake of having their own independent modern nation. They are instead candid, in their half-wit manner, about their dream of having the azaadi to go join Lashkaris, Labbaiks and other louts on the streets of Karachi and Lahore, in the merry pastime of stoning Asia Bibis to death, and occasionally stringing up an Ahmadi or shooting a Shia for variety. That is the azaadi Kashmiri terrorists want.
The azaadi to join Pakistan in its meltdown to lunacy.
It is this death wish, this dream of the dimwit’s dreadful paradise, that drives the jihad in Kashmir, the stone pelting, the sniper shootings and the militant shootouts, shielded by mobs clucking with anger around the armed forces, enraged at their presence between them and their sweetest wish — a paradise where they can join the Pakistanis in stoning anyone who’s not considered 'Muslim enough' to death.
It’s not the armed forces alone. Anyone and everyone — politicians, policemen, cultural figures, editors — who stands between the jihadi Kashmiri and their dream of a state of eternal violence, must be obliterated in this worldview. Anyone who represents the normalcy of civilised life must be killed. Anyone who embodies the normalcy of Indian life — including an Anil Parihar — with its daily rhythms of excitement and blandness, freedom and constraints, elections and governments, free media and blame — must be eliminated.
In a sense, there is a logic to this relationship of madness shared between Pakistani and Kashmiri jihadis. The 1980s onwards, as numerous experts recorded, Pakistan allowed itself to be steadily flooded by Afghan and other crazies, their one common bind being, they all claimed to be Islamo-Fascists. Why, you ask? Simply in order to strengthen its fighting forces in Kashmir. But, in the process, Pakistan, which once prided itself on being the land of poetry and whiskey, ghazals and kebabs, lehengas and languor and all the good things of life (to be enjoyed by Punjabi Generals and Sindhi feudals, with a bone thrown to the vassals) went mad itself.
It let itself be taken over by manic maulvis, limping maulanas, blind-in-one-eye mullahs and beady-eyed Hafiz Saeeds, whose big thrill is to kill, preferably with a stone or a club or something nice and heavy and medieval-ish.
Today, Pakistan faces yet another siege from its home-grown religious crazies. Some have found their way into Kashmir, where they shoot dead unarmed cops, soldiers returning home on Eid, journalists and politicians too.Anyone who is normal, basically.Anyone who represents the sanity, even the banality, of a normal life, bound by law, modernity, civilised norms.A life where you don’t dream of expressing yourself with a stone.
That is a life the rest of India will not let Kashmir slip into.Let Pakistan implode. We will not let Srinagar turn into another Kabul.Or indeed, another Lashkar-e-Lahore.
The Asia Bibi file is of course not closed yet . As yet, there is some confusion as to where she is . Still lodged in jail or flown out . Lots of rumours . If she is still in Pakiland, it is very doubtful that she will be released . Which proves that the Paki Supreme Court is a "paper tiger" . So called "prestige" of Saquib and Company will take a hit . Ditto for the Kaptaan. And it will reinforce Pakiland's uber - Islamic image in the world . FATF Black List will surely await . And Pakistan will likely join pariah nations club like NOKO and Iran . Imran needs to be get advice from Peerni's crystal ball on a pronto basis ( ASAP)
Protecting Ladakh against prolonged troubles in Kashmir was long overdue and so was the imperative of addressing some of the aspirations of the people there. Ladakh holds 60 per cent of J&K’s territory and plays critical role for national security that can’t be overlooked. Also inconceivable has been how Independent India (at the behest of Nehru) reduced Ladakh’s profile of being one of the five kingdoms in the Himalayas into a mere neglected district of the Valley.
Joseph Korbel, father of former US Secretary of State Madelaine Albright, wrote in 1950 that Kashmiri leadership was playing a trick on the people of Ladakh, if not frightening them to surrender under their control. For seven decades, New Delhi has turned a blind eye to Kashmiri sabre-rattling and the trickery upon the people of Ladakh — perhaps even worse than Pakistanis’ exploitation of the people in Gilgit & Baltistan. In the late 1970s, Sheikh Abdullah drove a wedge between Kargil Shia versus Leh Buddhist, besides creating a nefarious ‘Greater Kashmir’ concept to obliterate Ladakh.
The myth of J&K as a unitary state (a heritage of Dogra fiefdom) has outlived its historical inviolability. India should have thought about doing away with any subjugation links that Ladakh notionally had with J&K. After persistent articulation for the status of a UT, the Union government finally agreed in 1993, as interim measure, to create the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council. In 1995, the Ministry of Law, Justice and Company Affairs announced the Act enacted by the President under the powers conferred by Section 3 of the Jammu and Kashmir State Legislature (Delegation of Powers) Act, 1992, to provide for the establishment of Autonomous Hill Development Councils and an Inter-District Advisory Council in the Ladakh region.
The Act had to be passed during the phase of the third and longest Governor’s Rule (1990-1996). But the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Act in 1997, passed by the NC government, was toothless. It was in 2002, during the time of the PDP-led coalition government in J&K, that a semblance of power was devolved to LAHDC of Leh district through an amendment to the 1997 Act.
It was remarkable that then CM, Mufti Sayeed, within two months of his coming to power, decided to delegate greater financial and administrative powers to LAHDC (Leh) and create a similar LAHDC for Kargil as well. Under the new Act, the LAHDC chief executive councillor was given the status and perks of a Cabinet minister and executive councillors of a deputy minister’s rank. The council was empowered to decide on the allotment and distribution of land, superintendence and control over the council employees.
The LAHDCs of Leh and Kargil have been functioning well, rather in an exemplary way since. But in a major decision on September 27, the State Administrative Council (SAC) — equivalent of a Cabinet in Governor’s rule, under the chairmanship of Governor Satya Pal Malik, has approved yet another LAHDC (Amendment) Bill, 2018, to fully empower the councils with greater administrative and financial powers. Inter alia, the amendments gave more powers to the LAHDC to levy and collect taxes, more administrative control over the staff and more allocation and flow of funds from Centrally-sponsored schemes.
While the people of Ladakh had been seeking a separate legislative arrangement in the form of a UT status since 1951, which the ruling BJP agreed to fulfil prior to 2014, constitutional changes seem unattainable. Since the matter is perceived as linked with the Kashmir issue, it can’t be realised for now. Regions like Ladakh, which are in favour of deeper integration with the national mainstream, cannot be allowed to drift against the current context of destabilising forces in the state.
The Centre also cannot punish the region any longer on the ground of its demographic deficiency (low weight in electoral politics). Considering Ladakh’s geo-strategic significance and in the light of Pakistan recently promulgating the Gilgit Baltistan Order 2018 (entrusting it with an assembly with legislative power) a change in Ladakh is critical. New Delhi has to be mindful of China blustering its way through the region under its CPEC projects which will have direct consequences for Ladakh.
While UT status would remain a long-drawn process, strategic articulation and national security imperative should propel the government to upgrade the administrative status of Ladakh at least to a divisional level. Currently, only a DC-level officer in Leh and Kargil acts as the chief executive officer of the respective council, who, in turn, reports to the Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir and Ladakh based in Srinagar. The Commissioner sitting in Kashmir supervises and controls 12 districts, including Leh and Kargil, in terms of administrative, developmental and law and order situation.
Separating Ladakh from Kashmir Division and setting up a Divisional Commissioner’s office will go a long way in meeting the regional aspirations of the people. The launch of the overarching national vision of a tunnel through Zoji La (11,578 ft), connecting the Valley with Ladakh, in addition to building a high-elevation all-weather Bilaspur-Manali-Leh rail axis and Srinagar-Kargil-Leh axis will go a long way in removing Ladakh’s isolation. The projects are of great strategic, economic and developmental significance. The biggest spin-off will be the region opening up to better influx for tourism.
Can some one put this in.bar and our chart format?
Thanks.

SC to hear plea challenging validity of Art 370 in April
excerpts
A bench of Justices DY Chandrachud and MR Shah said it would hear the matter in the first week of April 2019 after Attorney General KK Venugopal, appearing for the Central government, sought adjournment on the ground that the current situation was very sensitive.
“The political situation in the state is such that the matter should not be heard at this time,” he said. Senior advocate Rakesh Dwivedi and advocate Shoeb Alam, appearing for J&K said a letter had been circulated seeking adjournment due to the ongoing nine-phase panchayat poll in the state.
To this, the bench said that it could tag the matter along with a batch of pending petitions challenging Article 35A of the Constitution, under which special rights and privileges are granted to the “permanent residents” of the state.
The suggestion of the bench was opposed by the counsels for the state, saying that the two issues were different entirely and the plea should not be tagged along with the Article 35A petitions.
Art 35A can be removed by Presidential Fiat. It never passed muster in Partliament. To prevent breach in the Privileges of Parliament it is not published in the numerical order of Articles in the Constitution but separately.
Art 370 has to be amended to protect the rights of minorities In J&K.
The Govt of India is willfully abetting the inhumane discrimination on the basis of sex and religion rampant in the laws of J&K due to these deeply flawed Articles.

Kashmiris take to the streets in numbers when they want to protest against something they claim the Army or local police have done. Yet when their own are brutally butchered by Jihadi SOBs there is near silence.
A 19-year-old's body was found with the throat slit in Kashmir's Shopian district on Saturday, barely 36 hours after a schoolboy was summarily executed by terrorists on suspicion of aiding security forces.
Prominent Kashmiri leader killed in "occupied" territoryQuotes are mine.
Gunmen sprayed gunfire toward Hafizullah Mir, a top political leader of Tehreek-i-Hurriyat, a group that challenges India's sovereignty over Kashmir, at his home in the southern Achabal area. Mir died on the spot while his wife was wounded in the attack, police and residents said.
Kashmiri leaders have termed it an assassination and blamed the Indian authorities for carrying out the atrocious attack on the local leader.
Mir was released from jail last month following two years’ imprisonment in India. Tehreek-i-Hurriyat had said recently that Mir was receiving life threats over the telephone.

Ramana, that may be. If true then hurry-rats are in for a rude shock.
Also, just suppose. Is it possible that pro-India kashmiris in the valley are responsible for the killing? If separatists in the valley can do it (drive by assassinations of pro-India public figures), why not pro-nationalists acted on their own? Even the odds. By no means I am implying that this would be sanctioned or prescribed by the Indian Army. Nor would I support such a thing.
NEW DELHI: Army chief General Bipin Rawat on Wednesday did not rule out the possibility of another surgical strike-like action on terror launch pads across the border, saying thatPakistan'scontinued support to cross-border terrorism could force India to "raise the ante".
In an exclusive interview to Times Now, the Army chief said the surgical strikes in 2016 were carried out to send a strong mesage to the Pakistani establishment.
"We wanted to say that if you carry out such acts, we will not hestitate to cross the border and destroy terror camps. But if the messaging did not have the desired effect, then it's time to raise the ante," General Rawat said.
On incidents of ceasefire violations along the LoC, General Rawat said that Pakistani army engages in border firing to facilitate the infiltration of terrorists.
"Pakistan supports infiltration through ceasefire violations. This gives an opportunity for terrorists to get through (to India). They are used as means of diverting attention of the Indian forces," Rawat said.
General Rawat also reiterated his earlier remarks that stone-pelters are overground workers of terrorists and added that those who try to disrupt counter-terror operations are also part of the organization that perpetrates violence against the people of J&K.
"The Army goes after the terrorists to ensure that they do not perpetrate violence against the people of Kashmir. Those disrupting these counter-terror operations are part of the organization which carries out acts of terror," General Rawat said.
Calling stone-pelting a stepping stone to terrorism, the Army chief said that terrorists target gullible youth in the Valley, who eventually join their ranks.
“Stone pelters" are gullible youth ... all of them are between the ages of 15-17 eventually they graduate to become terrorists when they turn 25-26. It (stone pelting) is a stepping stone to terrorism," he said.
General Rawat, however, asserted that the Army is now able to deal with stone pelters in a better manner.
Speaking about charges of fake encounters against military personnel, General Rawat hinted that there could be an agenda behind most of these cases.
"... I think grievances of anybody killed in an encounter must come from the near and dear ones. In most of the cases, we find allegations coming from the third party," the Army Chief said, adding that most of these cases are fake.
He said that the Army has taken strong action whenever officers have gone wrong.
