Quetta? But Quetta is so far off. Why not some nearby place like Islumabad?

Students everywhere, from the major cities to the remote villages, are actively learning and they are exhibiting their skills. It is a math revolution there! It is the golden age of Madarassas now and I wish the students, the very best as they practice and sharpen their skills.

WAPDA working on 20,000MW hydel power projects
ISLAMABAD: The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) here on Thursday informed the Senate Standing Committee on Water and Power that WAPDA is working on 20,000 megawatts (MW) hydel power generation projects and assured that 10,276 MW at lowest rates will be made available in the country by 2020. The Senate body met in the Parliament House with Senator Zahid Khan in the chair, Minister for Water and Power Choudhry Ahmek Mukhtar, secretary Daffar Mehmood and Petroleum Secretary Dr Baqar Masood Khan also attended the meeting. The members of the committee questioned that who would be judging the claim of WAPDA in 2020 when no one from the members of this committee will be in the parliament. However, WAPDA officials assured the committee that what they are committed to make sure through their efforts by 2020 that 10,276 MW power through hydel projects would be available in the country. A WAPDA official explained that less than committed financial resources is the main hurdle in delay and cost overrun on water and power sector development projects and sought help of the committee in providing funds to WAPDA as per committed amount to make its planning predictable.
WAPDA Chairman Shakeel Durrani was optimistic about the average annual flows and water storage potential of the country and informed that some 17.8 million acres feet (MAF) water would be available for storage in future in the country (enough for three dams like Diamer Bhasha Dam). The live storage of the Diamer Bhasha Dam would be 6.8 MAF and WAPDA has already released Rs 5 billion for land acquisition and Rs 13 billion for construction or establishment of required infrastructure for the construction of dam like roads, residential colony and offices power availability. Explaining the access water availability scenario, he informed that average annual flows to Kotri Downstream were 31.3 MAF during 1976-2010. However, during 2012 alone 54.5 MAF flows to Kotri Downstream were recorded.
The Senate committee was informed that Pakistan has challenged Kishan Ganga hydropower project being constructed by India in the international arbitration tribunal and it had granted stay in favour of Pakistan in September 2011.
Work on Indian side on the said project has already been stopped, however, in Pakistan work on Neelum-Jhelum hydropower project is underway. Next hearing on the said case is expected next month. He explained to the committee that the size of the tunnel of Kishan Ganga hydropower project is 23 kilometres, and it would generate 300 MW power as against it the length of the tunnel is 58 kilometres and the Neelum-Jhelum hydropower project is to generate 959 MW power for the country.
The WAPDA chairman informed the committee that the tunnel boring machine has been imported in the country for the Neelum-Jhelum hydropower project and use of this machine from August 7 would help reduce the construction period by 18 months and the project would be completed by 2016 as against the earlier targeted date of 2018.
He also explained to the committee that India can’t construct reservoir of Indus System, however, it can construct run-of-river projects. There is disagreement on water holding duration for power generation, however, volume of water discharge has not been affected for Pakistan till date.

This is one of the few advantages of the Pakistani financial system not being intertwined with global capital markets: the downgrading of the country’s sovereign credit rating by Moody’s is unlikely to become an immediate crisis, or have any serious short-term impact on the economy.
Sure, you need to first have an economy in place to be affected by "global downturn".

This is known as indirect promotion. Such society always steal from others and they use the achievements of other society to impress their folks. (e.g. Indian Mughals/Taj Mahal)
Earlier times when media was not present they could get away with such false image making. Their world view has not changed with the times. In this case the guys are trying to build support for their town.

Moody’s Cuts Pakistan Credit Rating Deeper Into Junk
http://www.businessweek.com/news/2012-0 ... -into-junk
Pakistan’s credit rating was lowered deeper into junk status by Moody’s Investors Service, which cited dwindling currency reserves and political instability.
The foreign- and local-currency bond ratings were cut one step to Caa1 from B3 with a negative outlook, Moody’s said in a statement yesterday. That hands Pakistan its lowest assessment in more than a decade, putting it on the same level as Cuba and below countries including Nicaragua.
The main driver of the move “is the increasing strain on the country’s external payments position as a result of a rising trade deficit and decline in capital inflows,” Moody’s said. Weak government finances, inflationary pressures and political uncertainty also weigh on Pakistan’s creditworthiness, it said.
Pakistan’s $200 billion economy faces the fastest inflation in Asia, lingering power blackouts, an insurgency on the Afghan border and reduced aid flows. Political tension has increased after a dispute between civilian leaders and the judiciary led to Yousuf Raza Gilani’s ouster as prime minister last month. Large debt repayments to the International Monetary Fund due in the period from 2012 to 2015 contributed to the ratings action, Moody’s said. Pakistan has to repay about $7.5 billion, with $1.2 billion already handed over as of June, it said.Foreign-exchange reserves declined to $14.9 billion on July 12 from a record $18.3 billion at the end of the same month in 2011, figures from Pakistan’s central bank show. The government estimates the economy probably expanded 3.7 percent in the 12 months ended June 2012. It has a goal of 4.3 percent growth for the current fiscal year, even as political volatility and power blackouts of as long as 18 hours a day in major cities threaten to deter investment.
‘Odd’ Timing ( Massa" Mastery Over Poaqpit)
Still, the timing of the ratings cut is “a bit odd” as Pakistan will soon receive more than $1 billion from the U.S., said Asif Ali Qureshi, executive director at Optimus Capital Management Pvt. in Karachi. He added investors are more optimistic now than a couple of months ago when ties between the two countries frayed.Moody’s said it may downgrade Pakistan again if its political environment deteriorates substantially and currency reserves decline further.

I am myself amazed at the change in India. No self respecting young man can be seen without some evidence of weight training in the form of bulging muscles, apart from the fact that most young men - as seen from young college crowds are taller. Even army recruits - who used to be wiry as I saw them 40 years ago are now muscular. And explaining that change is the appearance of a gym in every street.

The rise of Pakistan's televangelists
Islamic groups in Pakistan were initially hostile to cable TV because of concerns about "obscene" foreign imports, but religion now dominates the airwaves. A new breed of Islamic TV evangelist has emerged, leading to a confrontation with liberals.
On any day of the week, television in Pakistan is a potent cocktail of soap operas, fiery political debate and, increasingly, pop-Islam.
This last strand of programming has a set format. Viewers call up to ask questions about Islamic rulings on everything from hair removal to ethical mortgages. The anchors - part celebrity, part religious leaders - dish out bite-size fatwas (theological rulings) for audiences with a seemingly insatiable appetite for religion on TV.
Controversy has surrounded many of these programmes and the pious presenters that front them.
Farhat Hashmi has been accused of embezzling funds from her television show and fleeing to Canada to avoid prosecution, although she denies any wrongdoing. And Mehar Bukhari, known for her political interviews, sparked outrage by declaring the politician she was speaking to was a heretic.
Another mullah clashed with a Bollywood actress on live television after condemning her behaviour - that clip subsequently became a viral hit.
But the best-known of all the TV evangelists is Dr Amir Liaqat. From a glossy television studio above a parade of run-down shops in Karachi, he had an audience of millions for Alim aur Alam, a live one-hour show that went out five days a week across Pakistan.
The programme allowed Dr Liaqat to play the role of a religious "Agony Uncle", remedying the religious dilemmas of his audience.
In September 2008, Liaqat dedicated an entire episode to exploring the beliefs of the Ahmedis, a Muslim sect which has been declared as "un-Islamic" by much of the orthodoxy. In it, two scholars said that anyone who associated with false prophets was "worthy of murder".
Dr Khalid Yusaf, an Ahmedi Muslim, watched the programme with his family, and says he was shocked that a mainstream channel would broadcast this kind of material.

I had somewhat similar thoughts today. Ahmedis should start demanding a separate nation. 2 nation theory within 2 nation theory
We demand a new Lahore resolution by Ahmedis for a separate homeland for Ahmedis in South Asia. An Ahmedi majority secular, tolerant, nation

India looking to reverse ban on Pakistani TV channels
This was after Pakistani foreign secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani's strong pitch last week proposing India allow transmission of not just Pakistan government ( PTV) but also private channels, both news and non-news.
Making his point, Jilani said all Indian channels are available in Pakistan and Islamabad has done nothing to impose restrictions on their telecast. During talks between the two countries here last week, Pakistanis told the Indian delegation, led by foreign secretary Ranjan Mathai, that if India wants to spruce up people-to- people contacts, it must allow Pakistani channels into Indian homes.
Pakistanis recalled popularity of PTV's soaps like Deewarein, Waris and Jungle in the 1980s in India saying current programmes on Pakistani channels have the potential to become as popular.
PTV 'anti-India' drive a worry
Indians seem to have conceded the point. "It was conveyed to them (Pakistan) that India will look positively at the proposal although the matter will have to be first discussed by the information and broadcasting ministry and its counterpart in Pakistan," said a source, adding that PTV's "anti-India" campaign in the past over internal issues, including Jammu and Kashmir, has been a concern.
I don't know why we must give the privilege of equal treatment to TSP. India did not ask TSP to allow Indian channels to be allowed telecast in Pakistan. They can choose not to telecast any Indian channel.

In what could be a major boost to Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL)’s railway business, the state-run power equipment firm is close to winning a contract worth Rs 1,000 crore from Pakistan to manufacture railway locomotives.
How BHEL How?
Though the financing arrangement for the contract was yet to be finalised, it could come as a soft loan from the Indian to the Pakistani government and could be worth over Rs 1,000 crore, Rao said.
