^^ I wonder why they did not leave the hawkeyes behind at home, and also dump the super etendards to pack in more Rafale-M?
if at all AWACS cover is needed, it can be easily arranged by flying the same hawkeyes from turkey/greece/cyprus/jordan or calling in one of the 20 or so NATO E3.
shows a lack of seriousness in putting heat on target. no reports of more rafales to fly from jordan either.
when UK went to war in falklands both the invincible and hermes were packed to the gunwales with anything that would fit.
26 harriers and 10 sea kings were packed onto hermes. french want to wage war on a 2-days off in the weekend basis and enjoy their delightful breads, fruit and cheese with wine every morning .
here the invincible returns to a hero's welcome.

Canada, which has agreed to take in 25,000 Syrian refugees by the end of the year, will reportedly limit the immigration flow to single women and families, refusing to accept single males in the wake of the Paris Friday 13 bombings.

Blame game started but as these guys are extremely allergic to anything that resembles truth, it will never come and will no doubt result in further mess.
“I don’t know what we’ll discover with respect to what was going on in CENTCOM,” Obama said, responding to a report about the investigation in The New York Times. “What I do know is my expectation—which is the highest fidelity to facts, data, the truth.”

Wonder what Putin has planned for the terror sponsoring Arab kings in the ME. There will be some form of payback at their doorstep too.

Amazing! This was the first solution that occurred to me when the crisis stayed. Good idea this...

^^ there are plenty of jihadi wives though. and quite useful for logistical tasks as they arouse less scrutiny.
But why paint in White, do they think these aircraft have such huge radar and IR Signatures and thier Bases are safe from close in enemy aircraft, that it is fine if they are fully visible?

Canadians are habitual....it (was) not uncommon to see canadian males in late 40s and 50s keep (or marry) young chinese females. Now they want Syrians (young) single females.

The delivery of Russian S-300 anti-missile rocket systems to Iran has started, Iran’s ambassador to Moscow said in an interview. Iran is getting one of the latest versions of the air defence complex.
The delivery is underway, ambassador Mehdi Sanaei told Persian-language daily, Etemaad, as cited by Tasnim news agency.
The news was not welcome in Washington, with US State Department spokesman Mark Toner reiterating the US stance on the issue in a briefing on Monday.
“We made clear time and again our objections to any sale of the S-300 missile system to Iran,” Toner told reporters.

Probably to make a point that they are White Swan as Russians call it and not Blackjack as NATO does

Yemen eastern province is being allowed to drift out of any control and under "AQ" control as to prepare a refuge away from bear claws of the remnants of daesh and their leadership.

Erdogan's tanker's all burned up. Last count 1000 of them were destroyed. Must be feeling the pain.
see-saw hard battles going on in south aleppo countryside - jihadis have massed together and counter attacked on multiple points. latest reports speak of some 9 villages/hills retaken.
due north of aleppo, YPG attacked highway near Azaz and took control before FSA claims to have chased them off again.
Govt continues to make progress in latakia into the mountains as rebels have depleted those fronts to try and recover land lost in aleppo.
palmyra attacks also continue.

Once Latakia is blocked, the rebels have no way to replenish. So taking or giving up territory is merely academic, rebels will lose territory that they have taken in very short time. And all the while they are constantly losing force while attempting to hold on to land, especially which is not going to be replaced. SAA can even tactically retreat and allow the rebels to mass up so that they can be targeted from air.
blocking Latakia border with Turkey is key.
here is short account of how Syrian approach was towards western tourist before the NATO-sponsored civil unrest broke out.
Syria before the crisis - a first hand account by Steve Cox [via Janice Kortkamp, Facebook]
* * * * *
When I traveled to Syria in 2009, I entered the country without any Syrian money. I crossed into Syria in a very small border town with no banks, no ATMs, no way at all for me to exchange money. No problem, they said. They made sure I got on the correct cross-country bus to my destination -Aleppo, they shared their food with me on the long trip, knowing I had none, they went out of their way to make sure I was cared for, and even gave me an ice cream to beat the heat.
When I arrived in Aleppo, and was finally able to visit an ATM, the bills it dispensed were too large for a falafel-seller to take. He asked where I was from:
"America" I said.
"For you, no charge," he said. "Americans do not pay."
I felt terrible that he was losing money on me simply because, in a sense, I had too much to give him.
The next night, I went back to get another falafel. This time I was fully prepared with only small change, to ensure I could pay for both nights' falafels. When I went to pay, he again refused to take my money. "I told you, Americans do not pay. We love Americans." and despite several attempts, he really really refused to let me pay him.
Throughout my travels in Syria I met nothing but the kindest, most caring, well-educated people who were always concerned with my well-being and happiness. it was one of the safest feelings I've ever had. I knew that if I fell, everyone would come over to help me get back on my feet.
It breaks my heart to know that the Syria I experienced is gone - possibly forever. How many of the people who bestowed their incredible kindness on me are dead today? How many of the irreplaceable artifacts of our shared earliest civilizations have been destroyed out of hate and malice and ignorance?
And after all that kindness and assistance was given to me for no reason other than the fact that I needed it, I feel powerless to repay that debt when they need it so desperately.
Today, I'm hearing about US governors who want to refuse to allow refugees into their states, for fear that they might be terrorists. While I sympathize with the desire to keep our communities safe from harm, it sickens me to think that out of fear, a nation as great as ours claims to be would refuse these most-desperate and most-in-need people a safe place to try to stabilize their lives and prevent an entire generation of people from the region from being forever lost.

something strikes me about these videos on liveleak - there is an awful lot of random shooting and milling around. where are the 'normal' infantry manoeuvres and procedures? this is all teenage boy video game and mijjile maalish nonsense
wonder why those two fat boys were shot out of hand? would have thought they would have been put on camera to sing for their supper?

turkey doing its bit to support the turkoman militias it has been pushing in to create a safe buffer zone for its munnas in north syria.
they are pissed in latakia near the coast the govt has reached the turkish border and threatening to peel off more such "green" border in the interior.
>>something strikes me about these videos on liveleak - there is an awful lot of random shooting and milling around. where are the 'normal' infantry manoeuvres and procedures?
as I have said before, this _is_ the new normal. a good infantryman would take atleast 12 months of training with his unit and proper officer chain. you got to use the resources you have and this is what they can do, you go to give the boys a long rope and "guide" them in the general direction.....do not expect crisp sharp command chain here.
look at the sheer amt of ammo they fired without hiting either of the fatcats from some 150meters away.

Looks like Ground Fire Brought it down according to MOD, Pilot Ejected but unknown
So Putin is going to suck a Nato country shooting an aircraft of his and Jailing his Pilots?

this is militia and not infantry so there will be no infantry protocol observed here. Training can vary from 2 weeks to the 'highest of 6 months'. Closest approximation to South Asian context would be TTP, Afghan Taliban or even MQM militant wing.

I wager nothing will happen in immidiate future. But Qatar & Turkey should be wary.
these two countries are stuck deep in Syrian quagmire, and they are first to feel the pain.

how exactly does ground fire target a plane that is @ 18,000ft ?
this is way above Stinger ceiling.
has to be either a accident(flameout etc), patriot SAM or a AAM.
