New Delhi (Sputnik) – The meeting took place at the end of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit.
Pune-based Kalyani Strategic Systems Ltd has signed a joint venture agreement with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) for addressing a range of opportunities across air defense systems, radars, anti-ship missiles and command & control systems for the Indian armed forces. Both the companies will produce weapons worth $1.54 billion over a period of 7-10 years.
Bangalore-based Dynamatic Technologies and Elcom signed a ‘Strategic Teaming Agreement’ to produce, assemble and support UAVs in India with IAI. The joint venture is targeting the lucrative medium altitude long endurance (MALE) UAV market in India under technology transfer from IAI. The Indian defense ministry invited a response from indigenous manufacturers for procurement of MALE UAVs for use by three defense services.
“This will be under the “Make in India” initiative from Indian companies,” the notification said.
Alpha Design has signed a joint venture agreement with Elbit Security Systems worth $500 million. This deal will provide much needed indigenously manufactured thermal image-based sights and fire control systems, unmanned aerial vehicles, long range reconnaissance and observation systems (LORROS), coolant dewar detector, eye-safe laser range finders under technology transfer.
Little known in the Indian defense industry, Garware-Wall Ropes Ltd (GWRL), and Israel’s Aero-T signed the agreement to manufacturing and supplying advanced aerostat systems for India. The aerostat is served as early warning systems against enemy air attacks as well as for low-level ground surveillance. Mahindra Telephonics and Shachaf Engineering of Israel will jointly design, develop and manufacture strategic electronics systems for aerospace projects.
India’s Texmaco Rail and Engineering Ltd of Adventz Group and LeshmanLesico Group of Israel will execute light rail projects worth $2 billion including Greenfield light rail projects in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
Does India face the risk of a "neutral" Israel in a future conflict with China? Israel has been willing to help India against Pakistan -- but Israel suffers no consequence for such aid. That will not be the case with the PRC.Austin wrote:The same Netanyahu said to china few weeks back that Israel China was Marriage Made in Heaven and that Israel is Chinas perfect Junior partner.
While India, a major player in the international system, has improved relations with Washington, New Delhi's links with Jerusalem have the potential to smooth over some of the remaining difficulties in dealing with the US. Working with Israel fits into Modi's plan to deepen relations with the US given the US‐Israel friendship.New Delhi believes its normalization of relations with Israel in 1992 had a positive effect on the American disposition toward India. The often‐exaggerated power of the Jewish lobby in America was appreciated in New Delhi. In the 1990s, the American Jewish organizations valued the importance of India for the US and for Israel, as well as the potential advantages of nurturing good relations with the Indian community in America, whose congressional power is on the rise. Many members of the Indian lobby, the US‐India Political Action Committee (USINPAC), which was formed in September 2002, expressed the desire to emulate American Jewish groups and showed interest in cooperation. The Jewish and Indian lobbies worked together to gain the Bush administration's approval for Israel's sale of the Phalcon to India. Moreover, in July 2003, they were successful in adding an amendment to a bill giving aid to Pakistan that called on Islamabad to stop Islamic militants from crossing into India and to prevent the spread of WMD. In the fall of 2008, Jewish support was important in passing through the US Congress the US‐India nuclear deal, which allowed India access to nuclear technology for civilian use despite its not being a party to the Non‐Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

Elaborating upon the importance of this proposed deal, officials said here on Saturday the countries including the US and some European countries are reluctant to transfer Seeker technology to India resulting in the country’s missile system lagging behind by at least two generations.
Against this backdrop, Israel has given a clear signal that it will provide the critical ‘know why’ instead of ‘know how’. Starved of the state-of-the-art technology, the Indian industry depends on know how or technology transfer but has not been able to master entire process of manufacturing a smart weapon from scratch. In turn, it hampers the faster modernisation of the armed forces as they are using weapons which are at least 15 to 20 years behind in terms of technological advancement as compared to the US, China and NATO countries.

Going by Netanyahu's comment, looks like Israel’s ardour for romancing the Peoples Republic of China is undiminished notwithstanding sugar daddy United States of America’s strong objections to the dalliance."We have a special relationship with China and they don't care about the political issues"
Watching very closely is fine but, if Israel decides to sell weapons to China, they cannot be stopped from doing so by India.arun wrote:Going by Netanyahu's comment, looks like Israel’s ardour for romancing the Peoples Republic of China is undiminished notwithstanding sugar daddy United States of America’s strong objections to the dalliance.
Israel will need to be very closely watched to ensure that do not damage India by arming the Peoples Republic of China.
From part time defense minister, spending only 1.7% of GDP on defense, I don't think MIC is high on NM's to do list. He says Make In India, but what we need is Made in India. Pigeon did mention about India's MIC after independence going bust because of policies, but I do hope they have a road map for this.Kakkaji wrote:Watching very closely is fine but, if Israel decides to sell weapons to China, they cannot be stopped from doing so by India.arun wrote:Going by Netanyahu's comment, looks like Israel’s ardour for romancing the Peoples Republic of China is undiminished notwithstanding sugar daddy United States of America’s strong objections to the dalliance.

It is the US that has stopped Israel from selling weapons to China, otherwise Israel would have sold them more than they sell to India.
India cannot depend upon Israeli weapons and technology forever. Get what you need over the next few years, and develop our own MIC in the private sector in the meantime. That is why the NaMo Govt needs to push hard on the MII and the SP initiatives.
Barcelona's chief rabbi urges Jews to move to Israel because 'Europe is lost'
Meir Bar-Hen calls Spain a 'hub of Islamist terror'

Barcelona's chief rabbi, Meir Bar-Hen, says he has been encouraging his congregation to buy property in Israel YouTube
Barcelona's chief rabbi has urged Jews to move to Israel because "Europe is lost" to radical Islam.
Meir Bar-Hen has been encouraging his congregation to flee Spain, which he called a "hub of Islamist terror for all of Europe."
The chief rabbi's warning came after a terror attack in Barcelona left 13 people dead and over 120 wounded and was followed by another attack hours later that killed one person and injured others in the seaside town of Cambrils.
Isis claimed responsibility for both attacks, which authorities believe were the work of a large terrorist cell that had been plotting for some time.
Police say 'terrorist cell from Barcelona' broken as manhunt continues
In an interview with the Jewish news agency JTA, Mr Bar-Hen said: "Jews are not here permanently.
“I tell my congregants: Don’t think we’re here for good. And I encourage them to buy property in Israel. This place is lost. Don’t repeat the mistake of Algerian Jews, of Venezuelan Jews. Better [get out] early than late.”
He went on to say the attacks had exposed the presence of "radical fringes" within the Muslim community, a problem he said applied to Europe as a whole.
"Europe is lost," he added.
His comments were at odds with the Federation of Jewish Communities of Spain, which said it had "full confidence in security forces who work daily to prevent fanatics and radical Muslims from inflicting pain and chaos on our cities."

The exercise will also include other countries like US, France, Germany, Italy, Greece and Poland, and comes after PM visited the Jewish state in July.NEW DELHI: India on Tuesday dispatched a C-130J 'Super Hercules' aircraft, along with a 45-member contingent, including Garud commandos, to Israel to take part in the top-notch multilateral 'Blue Flag-17' exercise from November 2 to 16.
This is the first time India has sent a contingent to participate in a military exercise in Israel. The exercise will also include other countries like the US, France, Germany, Italy, Greece and Poland, and comes after PM Narendra Modi visited the Jewish state in July.
Why doesn't he move out of NATO!!!!Turkey threatened on Tuesday to cut diplomatic ties with Israel if Trump recognizes Jerusalem.
and from the same articlePrime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Palestine, its envoy to New Delhi said a day after US President Donald Trump recognised Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
"I will announce here and no one before you knows that Mr Modi will visit Palestine," the ambassador, Adnan A Alihaij, told Rajya Sabha TV. But he didn't say when that visit would happen.
Statement seems to be along the lines of "PM will visit Palestine in the fullness of time, at the appropriate juncture, when all the planets align". But it is not the GoI that has made this statement -- so palestinians can be happy that India is on their side, and Israelis can also be happy that India is on their side also. India is on both sides at the same time, as we should be.India reacted to Trump's announcement by saying its position on Palestine is independent, consistent and not determined by any third country.
"India's position on Palestine is independent and consistent. It is shaped by our views and interests, and not determined by any third country," External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said.

It is against India's national interest to vote for the pro-Palestine Resolution in the UNGA. Palestine has never supported India on Kashmir question and Islamic terror attacks. Israel has stood with India always.

Jerusalem: Moshe Holtzberg, the Israeli child who as a toddler survived the 2008 terror attack at a Jewish centre in Mumbai, is feeling “emotional and excited” as he prepares for his “homecoming” during the four day visit to India by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu next week.
Moshe, 11, was two when his parents were killed in the Mumbai attacks at Nariman House (also known as Chabad House) by Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists.
The attack on the Nariman House and other locations like the Taj Hotel left 166 people dead.
The boy, standing and crying between his dead parents’ bodies, was saved in a daring move by his Indian nanny, Sandra Samuels, who was hiding in a room downstairs when the attack happened.
“Moshe is very excited and at the same time emotional as he gets ready to leave for Mumbai on January 15. He is returning to his birthplace and is waiting to see many things connected to his late parents that he has heard about from us and his nanny. There are lots of memories,” an overwhelmed Rabbi Shimon Rosenberg, Moshe’’s grandfather, said.
In an emotional meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 5 in Jerusalem, the young boy had expressed his wish to visit Mumbai.
“I hope I will be able to visit Mumbai, and when I get older, live there. I will be the director of our Chabad House,” Moshe had told the Indian Prime Minister.
Modi had responded by saying, “Come and stay in India and Mumbai. You are most welcome. You and your all family members will get long-term visas. So you can come anytime and go anywhere”.
Netanyahu then promptly asked Moshe to join him when he travels to India, a promise he did not forget and has invited the family to join him in Mumbai during his forthcoming visit to India starting on January 14.
