Re: Terroristan - July 27, 2018
CPEC is bilateral agreement between china and pak but they met saudis and committed stake in the project without even consulting china. Chinese came to know about this through media and went ballistic. Now pakis U turned saying its a separate agreement and not part of cpec. This fiasco is followed by pak announcement of reduction of chinese loan for railway line by $2b. Pakis were probably hoping saudis can be made partner so they will share some loan amount.
It seems pakis have realized china is not massaging but squeezing their balls tight and now they are panicked.

Last month, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said that Saudi Arabia is the third "strategic partner" of the CPEC, soon after Prime Minister Imran Khan returned from his first foreign trip to the kingdom.
Interestingly Chaudhry was sitting with Bakhtiar when he issued clarification that Saudi Arabia participation in the CPEC was not as third partner in the project.
Bakhtiar further said that there was no decision to bring a third country, like Saudi Arabia, under the framework of the CPEC.

https://www.oneindia.com/india/is-a-war ... 86918.html
Is a war on the cards or will India inflict Pakistan with a ‘thousand cuts’
It looks like a medium term plan has been made to tackle Pakistan which matches with what Rajnath Singh hinted at when he said "dekhyie aage kya hota hai". Of course only time will tell what that plan is and these leaks by the Govt are surely meant to keep the Pakis guessing or even bait them into committing a blunder.India has exercised various options in the past. One of the most explored options was suspension of talks. In the existing situation, this does not appear to be an option as there is heavy escalation of tensions along the border.
The other would be to maintain an offensive-defence along the Line of Control. This would limit infiltration to a large extent. However India could only hope that Pakistan would realise that deploying terrorists along the border is a futile exercise.
The other option would be a series of surgical strikes, which would help push the enemy backwards. Sustained heavy artillery firing is another option. Basically the idea would be to keep the heat on at all times, so as to not give the enemy time to re-group.
The last option is a full-fledged war. There are many concerns around a full-fledged war. First it would take a toll on the economy. Second with both nations be nuclear states, it is not always the safest option. The mood in Delhi is clear and that there would be severe retaliation.
None are thinking about a war, but in the days to come one would get to witness a series of sustained strikes in a bid to push the enemy backwards and keep the heat on.
Re: Terroristan - July 27, 2018
I think what really happened was that the Pakis went to Saudis with a begging bowl with outrageous demands for cash gifts and grants. The Saudis probably told them to take a hike, after which the Pakis would have begged for loans. The Saudis would have offered some loans, but demanded collateral in return. The Pakis, being too clever by half, probably tried to pawn off stakes in failing CPEC projects to the Saudis. The Saudis were clearly wise to that as well and wanted stakes in profitable power plants and natural resources like mines, which the Pakis appear to have balked at so they are still roaming around with a begging bowl.arun wrote:Imran “I’m the Dim” “U Turn” Khan Niazi government of the Mohammadden Terrorism Fomenting Islamic Republic of Pakistan does another one of his famous U Turns.

Fake photo of grade 20 officer who stole Kuwaiti official’s wallet goes viral
A photo wrongly attributed to the grade 20 officer, who stole the wallet of Kuwaiti delegation member a few days ago, has gone viral on the internet.
The picture that claimed to be that of the ‘tainted’ bureaucrat has been proven to be actually of someone else.
The picture attributed to Pakistan Administrative Service Officer Zarar Haider Khan is actually of Ziad Haider, who is a Senior Associate and the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).
Washington-based Ziad Haider, who is based in Washington DC and is not even from Pakistan...
Haider has also served as a special representative for commercial and business affairs at the U.S. Department of State.

One last loan - Dr Abid Qaiyum Suleri
Pakistan’s engagement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) always creates panic among people as they find their going getting tough during an IMF arrangement. An IMF staff mission is in town yet again and people are panicking about ‘possible consequences’ if Pakistan signs another IMF arrangement.
However, we must keep in mind that the current visit of IMF staff is not in itself an indication that Pakistan wants to go for another arrangement. In order to maintain stability and prevent crises in the international monetary system, the IMF monitors member country policies as well as national, regional, and global economic and financial developments through a formal system known as surveillance. Part of this surveillance is ‘Article IV consultations’ that the IMF does bilaterally with its 189 members on annual basis. Through these consultations, the IMF attempts to assess each country’s economic health and anticipates its future financial problems. The IMF mission is in Islamabad for these routine Article IV consultations.
Whether the current government will go to the IMF for a bailout package depends on the outcome of these Article IV consultations, the magnitude of anticipated Saudi investment/loan/grant, and loan/investment from China – among other factors. The finance minister has announced that a decision in this regard will be made by October 10.
The IMF has 189 members who can resort to it to secure fiscal stability. The borrowing country agrees to undertake certain measures at the time of borrowing from the IMF (usually called loan conditionalities). Immature termination of a programme implies that the borrowing country could not implement the loan’s conditions. For such countries, the IMF imposes even tougher conditions for future engagements. Pakistan became an IMF member in 1950; since 1958, it has made 21 arrangements with the Fund. However, only one programme (the last programme during 2013-2016) could be successfully completed. The rest of the 20 programmes remained incomplete and had to be abolished.
The reason most people in Pakistan are scared of the government’s engagement with the IMF is our track record of leaving IMF arrangements inconclusively, due to which the Fund wants us to take many actions in advance prior to the release of the loan. These actions restrict the government not to spend beyond its means. Moreover, the withdrawal of subsidies and restricted public-sector spending usually hurt the masses. The blame for these actions goes to the IMF.
One can rightly criticise the ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach of IMF policy prescriptions, which ignore each country’s unique circumstances. The conditions of IMF prescriptions are quite standard and slow down the economy. This then results in reduced economic growth and creates severe hardships for the poorest people in borrowing countries. As the incumbent governments have to go to the IMF because of the policies of their predecessors, there is often a lack of political ownership of the IMF programme.
Another valid criticism on the IMF is its governance model, which empowers large global economies to shape the global monetary system. The Large Global Economies provide the MONIES! He who pays the Piper calls the Tune! The members have quotas and special drawing rights (SDRs) according to the size of their economies. The SDRs determine the voting power. The US has more SDRs than any other member country. It has 16.52 percentage of total votes and virtually the veto power as all important matters need to be decided by 85 percent votes. The IMF is governed by an executive board comprising 24 executive directors and a managing director (the MD is appointed by the US). These directors are elected by member countries or by groups of countries based on their quota.
Thus the US, Japan, China, Germany, France, the UK, Russian Federation, and Saudi Arabia – by virtue of their shares – get one slot each. The rest of the 16 executive directors are appointed by the remaining 181 members. India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka jointly appoint one director, while Iran, Pakistan, Algeria, Morocco, Ghana, Tunisia, and Afghanistan jointly appoint one director.
During the last IMF arrangement, Pakistan had to seek waivers from the IMF board for release of loan tranches. The waiver pertained to Pakistan’s inability to carry out energy-sector reforms and loss-making state-run enterprises reforms. US Secretary of State Pompeo’s statement in the context of the American influence on the IMF is a reminder that chances for any waiver for Pakistan (if it decides to approach the IMF) in the near future are quite bleak.
Having said that, I believe Pakistan should consider going to the IMF for one more time. Any home-grown solution or conditions for the loan would not be much different than the reforms that the PTI government wants to bring in the FBR, the energy sector, loss-making public sector enterprises, governance, and in the cost/ease of doing business etc. In fact, the current government has the chance to deliver where previous governments failed in the last 21 IMF engagements – ie bringing about reforms.
The process of bringing reforms (through or without an IMF programme) may hit certain segments of society. That is where government needs to have a strong social protection and poverty reduction mechanism in place. To me, it would be much easier for the government to achieve macro-fiscal stability through an IMF loan, without neglecting the alternative sources of funding (Saudi and/or Chinese). It would give enough fiscal cushion to the federal government for delivering on its pro-poor agenda. I am sure, through the envisaged reforms, in a couple of years’ time Pakistan’s economy will not require another IMF bailout for a long time to come. However, it is about belling the cat – either through or without an IMF loan.
Cheers

ok, so it is a drama. They have some deal coming up and these will be handed over.
Another reference: http://pakfizaia.tripod.com/f16story.htmlBetween 2005 and 2008, 14 F-16A/B Block 15 OCU fighters were delivered to the PAF under renewed post-9/11 ties between the U.S. and Pakistan. These had originally been built for Pakistan under the Peace Gate III/IV contracts but were never delivered due to the U.S. arms embargo imposed in 1990.[111]
These are not like Honda Accords which can be shipped off to the dealership. They are specifically built to customer specs, probably dumbed down for the Pakis which won't be acceptable to their main customer, the Pentagon. As you say there could be a deal, but just the fact that they are being placed in storage doesn't mean anything.

LAHORE: Once thriving Ostrich farming is on the verge of collapse in Punjab owing to the negligence of the government and Punjab Livestock Department as they did not extend the project after its expiration.
One possible solution comes to mind : Get the Mullahs of the Islamic Ideology Council to declare a fatwa that consumption of ostrich meat is halaal and sharia compliant and Eid sacrifices of such animals is in no way haraam under Islamic Law . Consumption will definitely increase, at least IMOThe Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government, during its tenure, promoted ostrich farming to increase the consumption of low-fat and organic red meat in 2016 and declared ostriches a part of livestock so that it could be raised by farmers and citizens without a license. These farmers were trained to handle and breed ostriches for meat, skin and feather production, medication, vaccinations and for the production of meat and eggs. The government offered Rs10,000 per bird on an annual basis to those famers registered with the Livestock Department. The subsidy was available to farmers who reared between 25 and 100 birds.
The project, which was launched two years ago, expired on June 30 and since then, ostrich farmers are going from pillar to post ( Have they met yet with the Minister Of Religious Affairs ) while none of the authorities concerned are addressing their grievances.
According to Ostrich Farmers Association President Rana Khalid, the number of ostrich farmers in the country was around 70 in 2016 but due to the persuasion of former Livestock Secretary Naseem Sadiq, the number of farmers crossed 200 just in Punjab. About 160 farmers rearing 6,500 birds were registered in 2018 while 52 farmers bringing up 3,500 ostriches were registered in 2016 and 2017.
Funds from Saudia or KuwaitOstrich farming Project Director Dr Talha said the project was initially started for two years which expired on June 30. “We have written letters to the Punjab government and hope the project will be extended for another year. Afterward, we will start installations and marketing of Ostrich meat. Right now, we do not have funds for this purpose.”

PTI officially responds to Bushra Imran ‘pregnancy’ rumors
Oct 2, 2018
SLAMABAD – The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government has cleared the air regarding news reports that the first lady, Bushra Imran was expecting a child. The special assistant to Prime Minister Imran Khan, Iftikhar Durrani rejected the news as being ‘fake’ and asked the media outlets to apologize. In its report, the Urdu newspaper Daily Ummat claimed that the first lady of Pakistan, Bushra Imran was expecting a child with Prime Minister Imran Khan.PM Imran has decided to keep it a secret and that he would announce the news at an appropriate time, stated the report. The recently launched official Twitter handle of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for debunking FakeNews stated that fabricating and spreading the completely baseless news was a malicious activity and in violation of journalistic ethics and code of conduct.‘Such behavior is highly condemnable. It is the collective responsibility of social media users to discourage and reject all such elements,’ the statement added.Durani condemned the fake news about the first lady being spread by a newspaper and warned about legal consequences if it did not apologize over the dissemination of fake news.It is the moral and ethical duty of media houses to provide accurate information to masses, he added.
Maybe, she is "half pregnant" and not "full pregnant" as they say

United Nations (UN) Secretary General Antonio Guterres, who begins a three-day official visit to India today, expressed concern over the situation in India-held Kashmir (IHK), and encouraged "positive dialogue" for the peaceful settlement of the ongoing dispute.
To a specific question on the OHCHR report on Kashmir which was a scathing report on the acts of the Indian state in the valley and was rejected by India, the UN chief without commenting on the contents of the report distanced himself from the author of the report, the then High Commissioner of Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad Al-Hussein (Malsic)

Govt bans cutting down trees in Islamabad
The News International
Oct 3, 2018
Exemption given for the Kaptaan's Bani Gala propertyISLAMABAD: Advisor to the Prime Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam Khan Tuesday announced a complete ban on cutting down trees in Islamabad to protect the environment of the capital city.Talking to media during his visit to the Embassy Road trees plantation Site, Amin said more than 197 trees have been cut down during previous government only on the Embassy Road green belt for extension of road.
Kind of an exaggerated comment, at IMO ! Never say neverHe said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government will never allow any kind of trees cutting in the future.
Pakiland has a Ministry Of Climate Change Then beggary for funds for this "flavour of the year" dept is not too far behind . Heard Qureshi "beg" for education funds at the UN , but not for climate change, which a "hot topic" these days at UN conferencesThe adviser said the ministry of Climate Change would also introduce shifting of trees through transplanting to avoid environment issues due to the trees cutting.
" Gamechanger CPEC " is involved here as wellHe said the streams and nullahs are polluted in the capital city, adding that it is the responsibility of the civic body to keep these streams and nullahs clean to avoid any kind of environmental issues. He said under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) a social working group was established to work on various issues including environment.
Replying a question, he said next phase of tree plantations would be started in January, adding that budget would be allocated for the ten billion trees ( deemed to be fake news by all and sundry !) project bya the government.

Jamnagar Refinery Jamnagar, Gujarat, India-----1,240,000 Barrels Per Day
Please check the Daily Refining Capacities of Petroleum Refineries and possible this proposed refiner at Gwadi-wadi-yaar would not even be in the Twenty Fifth Position!
Cheers
Thanks for the BPD factoid on the Saudi Refinery claimed to come up at Gwadar in Pakistan occupied Balochistan. 110,000 Bpd works out to 4.75 MTPA. (BPD to MTPA Conversion calculator).
There are 16 Refineries in India with capacity handily exceeding 4.5 MTPA. Indeed the smallest of the 16 Refineries, Bina and Barauni, have an installed capacity of 6 MTPA ( List of oil refineries in India).
Typical braggadocio on the part of the Mohammadden Terorism Fomenting Islamic Republic of Pakistan to claim that that the Saudi Refinery that very likely will NOT ever come up at Gwadar, will be worlds third largest refinery .

Birkby fire murder suspect Shahid Mohammed extradited from Pakistan to UK
Oct 3, 2018
LAHORE – A man being extradited from Pakistan to the UK will be charged with the murders of eight people after a 2002 fire in Huddersfield.
Shahid Mohammed will be formally charged with the murders of five children and three adults from the Chisthi family when he appears at Leeds Magistrates Court on Thursday. In 2002 the family died in a house fire in Birkby, Huddersfield. Mohammed, 36, has remained the only suspect to have not faced justice in connection with the crime.
He remained on the run until he was arrested in January 2015 in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, in a joint operation between West Yorkshire Police, the NCA and the Pakistani authorities.Huddersfield’s most wanted man has been held in prison in Pakistan since. He was being flown over to the UK on Wednesday to face the charges on Thursday. Detective Superintendent Nick Wallen of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: “This is a significant development in our investigation.
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all agencies here in the UK and in Pakistan who have worked tirelessly and supported West Yorkshire Police to ensure that this process has run smoothly to extradite him.
“At the centre of this investigation is the Chisthi family, who lost eight members of their family during the fatal house fire and have shown such dignity since the tragedy occurred in 2002.” The suspect’s extradition to the UK is only the second from Pakistan in more than 10 years.
- Hard to understand, how one countries can produce so many A holes !The taxi driver dumped their bodies on a secluded road in 2011 and took a flight to Islamabad where he was detained in 2013.He appealed against extradition to the UK but finally lost his appeal in 2016.He was sentenced to a minimum term of 31 years.
- Seems that Paki problems have become problems of Bartania now !
