Major Naxal strike averted, 10 ultras apprehended

http://www.millenniumpost.in/NewsConten ... NID=329126
Claiming to have averted a major Naxal attack in the National Capital Region (NCR), the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of the Uttar Pradesh Police have busted a gang of ultras.

A total of 10 ultras, including a self-styled area commander suspected of having links with Naxal outfits in Jharkhand, have been arrested, the police said, adding that a huge cache of arms and ammunition were recovered from their possession.

The police said the extremists were adept at making bombs and were planning some “crimes” in the Delhi-NCR region, IG (UPATS) Aseem Arun said. According to the IG, in the night-long raids that went on till the wee hours on Sunday, nine ultras were arrested from Noida, neighbouring the national Capital. Of these, six were picked up on Saturday night and three on Sunday morning. Another was arrested from Chandauli, adjoining Bihar, he said.

Self-styled area commander Pradeep Singh Kharwar, from Bariatu village in Jharkhand’s Naxal-prone Latehar district, was hiding in Noida since February 2012, he said, adding that a Rs 5-lakh reward was fixed on his arrest.

Another prized catch was Ranjit Paswan, a former self- styled area commander of the erstwhile People’s War Group, which was active in Naxal-hit Sasaram district of Bihar. He was arrested from Chandauli, adjoining Bihar, he said.

Others arrested included Pawan Kumar Jha of Madhubani in Bihar, Sachin Kumar of Dankaur in Greater Noida, Krishna Kumar Ram from Sasaram in Bihar and Suraj, a resident of Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh, police said. Suraj was the group’s local contact for conducting operations in the Delhi-NCR area.

The STF officer said acting on a tip off, a raid was conducted at an apartment in Sector-49, Hindon Vihar, Noida. As many as 550 live cartridges, an INSAS assault rifle, two other rifles and three self-loading rifle magazines, along with a huge quantity of explosives and detonators, were seized.

“It is suspected that the INSAS rifle was looted from a security personnel as the weapon is used by them against the ultras. INSAS (Indian Small Arms System) is a family of infantry arms, consisting of an assault rifle and a light machine gun. The arrested Naxals were active in eastern UP and adjoining parts of Bihar and had made Noida their base. They had rented out two flats and posed as property dealers. The crackdown on the left-wing extremists will continue and more arrests are likely to be made,” the IG said.

He added that the gang members were experts in bomb-making. “They revealed that they wanted to shift their base in NCR to commit crimes such as ATM heist, robbery and abduction as they could not get enough money in Bihar and Jharkhand area,” he added.

The police have recovered three .32-bore pistols, one 9-mm pistol, three country-made revolvers, 60 cartridges (32 bore), 10 cartridges (09 bore), 18 cartridges .315-bore, two laptops, 13 mobile phones, four cars, one motorcycle and Rs 75,000 from their possession. The gang had opened two shops in the locality and pretended to work as property dealers.

It's becoming completely unacceptable that RSS sevaks are being bumped off and there's been no retaliation. As long as BJP/RSS are playing by the book, the dark forces will keep exploiting this situation. Time to unleash Shiv-Sena styled justice.

If one party moves to Pakistan as promised, perhaps they can be kept happy with clashes, explosions, assassinations and the general level of piety.

I'm sort of winding up courage to share the details of an incident related to me by an in law that happened a few weeks ago at Mumbai airport. It perfectly illustrates why security in India is a joke and why we are doormats.

I hope in the coming days to elaborate after seeking permission from involved parties. When/if I get permission to recount her experience, I will try and reconstruct the scenes.

Not a pretty picture. Bear with me and I hope that if I can recount the details, the end result is a series of tweets to Rajnath SIngh about the gaping security holes at airports.

Kerala man is key Islamic State ‘recruiter’ luring Indian volunteers to Afghanistan
The son of a truck driver in Kerala’s Kozhikode city, Abdullah had clawed his way into the middle-class; his friends knew him to be hard-working and pious, with no interest in politics. There was nothing to mark him out from the crowd of workers waiting to board the Air India flight from Kozhikode. {notice the 'The Hindu' style of reporting - unneccessary information added in to make a person look innocent}
NIA officials say that in encrypted Telegram conversations, Mohamed recruited several like-minded men, all from the educated middle-class: Swalih Muhammad, a researcher with an automobile manufacturing major in Chennai; Safwan Pookatil, a graphic designer working for the PFI daily Thejas; Ramshad Neelangan Kandiyil, a chartered account based in Kozhikode; his cousin, engineering drop-out Jaseem Neelangan Kandiyil; small-time businessman Rashid Ali....
The NIA alleges that the men were instructed by Abdullah to plan strikes against Israeli tourists in Kodaikanal, as well as attacks on leaders of the BJP and judges who had delivered what they believed to be “anti-Muslim” verdicts.

As per an estimation of the National Security Council, China, with its 1.25 lakh cyber security experts, is a potential challenge to India’s cyber security. In humiliating contrast, India has a mere 556 cyber security experts. At stake is India’s US$ 2.1 trillion GDP, power grids, telecommunication lines, air traffic control, the banking system and all computer-dependent enterprises.

Things are not looking good, on the case of the RSS worker getting murdered in Bangalore. May be it is the fact that the BJP is a strong opposition in KA, which made the police to admit some other "angles" on the murder of RSS worker Rudresh.
Four arrested for RSS worker's murder
From the report..
The Bengaluru police, who were under pressure from the BJP to crack the case, said they made the arrests on Wednesday night and Thursday morning
.....
Speaking to DH, Bengaluru Police Commissioner N S Megharikh said Mohammed Sadiq alias Mohammed Mazhar, 35, a resident of JC Nagar, and Waseem Ahmad, 30, from Austin Town, were those who had stopped Rudresh. Sadiq rode the motorbike while Ahmed was on the pillion and hacked Rudresh to death.

Mohammed Mujeebullah alias Mollah, 44, a resident of RT Nagar, and Irfan Pasha, 30, from Govindapura, were on another two-wheeler a little ahead to provide cover, Megharikh said. Mujeebullah and Pasha spotted Rudresh and motioned to Mazhar and Ahmad to strike.
.....
When asked if the suspects were associated with any organisation and what was the motive for the murder, the officer said, “We are investigating if they are members of any particular organisation. We suspect that they attended the meetings organised by certain organisations, but we are yet to confirm this.

---
The way I see it, it is now pretty much obvious that Rudresh was killed by Jehadis, and not by any one for personal enimity. The police are just suger coating the bitter pill.

Policemen are human beings, it's quite natural that they are vengeful but they can't be ; shooting a already dead suspect and another policeman asking him to shoot again ; all the while another policeman shouts not to do such stupid moves while he is making a video ; that is quite damning ; also there is another video which shows the suspects were trying to surrender ; I would rather have them surrendered and put back in jail ; -'s given a death sentence than the policeman killing them while on encounter ; if they were ready to surrender ; then the police shouldn't have killed them , if they were already dead ; it's disgusting that they kept shooting at the bodies . I expect better

These SIMI guys had already escaped from jail once before. So this was their second escape.
Any time a jihadi is encountered - all faithfuls suddenly start showing faith in the Indian judicial system. And cry about why oh why were these people not given a chance at justice.
And any time a jihadi is sentenced to death by the same judicial system - then its "Afzal hum sharminda hain tera qatil zinda hai........"

I think the common Indians have started to see through it. From the reactions on my FB - I did not find a single person(other than confirmed azadi-wallahs) who cares whether it was a legitimate cross-fire or a fake encounter.
A dead jihadi - a good thing, however it was achieved. Yes - a sizable section of the Indian population has reached that stage.

IG confirmed those werent bullet injuries.

I am sure something happened between them trying to surrender (even then a police man was shooting at them liked ducks ) and their death. Then shooting at dead bodies, one policeman encourging to shoot and another who is taking the video telling the other two , not to do that he is taking a video. Whoever took the video should thrown of service. Also the idiot who shot at dead bodies. We are better than that.

SIMI has been instrumental in terror attacks across India. Getting a jail term itself was a long rope given to these terrorists before. They should have been dispatched to their 72 long before. Jail terms, rehab cannot work for indoctrinated terrorists minds. This incident and hopefully many more to come should set a precedence for youth who want to become jihadis

Lots of things happen during encounter. The difference between regular crminial and terrorist encounter is the terrorist have suicidal tendencies. Their surrender most of the time will lead to more casualties. Who will be responsible for this? There is still nothing to suggest they we trying to surrender.

Agreed. Shooting terrorist who escaped is justifiable but not these stupidities of taking a video and shooting at dead bodies and overall amateurism in terms of talking in multiple voixes on the same issue.

While one commends the police leadership for taking the right decision to catch the escaped terrorists dead, the overall lack of professionalism is embarrassing.

Also it seems there are severe lapse of security in the prison.
