Most stupid article I have read on A politics. Does not even know basics. For example D Sajeevayya was also CM for AP who was a dalit. These ideots from TI think AP is like old time Behar. There is no such great caste polarisation in AP. True that Kamma people are behind TDP but at the same time Reddy people are also there in significant no there also. Similarly most of the MP's of costal congress are Kammas. How does this TOI jurno explains it. Kammas irrespective of parties join in their business interests where are reddy right among themselves like anything all the time. Other so called community leaders claim they are having support of their community but no one gives a damn to them. People take money liquer and vote for whom ever they want. In fact in the elections I have seen the best spent side lost by huge margins.

Every MLA and MP seat in AP will have its own caliculations and sitting in TOI office and writing some kush boosh article is ok for TOI. But no one who worked in AP politics agrees this is as simple as it looks. in a 3 or 4 sided fight no one knows what will happen. CBN is little credibulity personally but TDP is still strong accross the state. Jagan is a sicilian ( read god father and understand what I mean here) so cannot be written of so easyly. YSR like leader inspite of all mafia things are admired because of their strong leadership just liek we all admire Indira Gandhi. Further no Telugu person is comfortable now wtith all their MLA begging in New Delhi for Minister posts. Kiran Kumar at present is an untested leaders and INC itself will ensure that he will not grow at all. Congress model of leadership of having weak state level leaders with Rajamatha and Munna Raja controlling every thing from the top does not readly work in AP or in many states now.

6+20+11+5 = 42, so who are the remaining 58% ?

The entire article is wrong and the demographics are totally incorrect. ShayamSP had put a list in correct percentages somewhere on IF.

By the way Chiru seems to have decided to not join the government. If that is true then INC is really screwed. It is not some chanikyan thing from Chiru. He is worried that PRP MLAs may just go with Jagan. Already five out of twenty are with jagan.

Deriving from 1921 census and doing +s and -s from extrapolations and later census numbers,

23% SC&ST (16% SC and 7% ST as per reservations/census - exact %s can be obtained for SC/ST)
9% Muslim
26% FC *
42% BC. *

* Kapus traditionally mean Kapus, Kammas, Reddys, Velamas. Overtime last 3 Kapus came to be identified by separate castes and remaining became Kapus. They added a few others castes and subcastes to make umbrella of Kapus (Thoorpu Kapus, Kapu Naidu, Telaga, Ontari, Balija, Munnuru Kapu, etc.) of today. Kapus fall under both BC and FC, so it is challenging to get figures.

- On FC side, Reddys are 10-11 %, Kammas are right at 5%, Velamas are 3%. Rajus are 2%, Brahmins are 3-4% (Niyogis form bulk) and Komatis (Vysya) are 3%

- On BC side, bulk are Salis (Smiths) - Padmasali, Shilpasali, Kaikala, Kamsali/Viswa Brahmana. Each caste specializes in one area such as Milling/Cloth-making, Woodwork, iron/bronze work, rock work. Mangali (Barber service and Music), Chakali (cloth washing service), Goud/Gaundla (toddy business).
Yadava/Golla/Kurbi are BCs. The problem is they are Kshatriyas and Sudras at the same time but currently are considered as BCs

- Malas are majority in SC category followed by Madiga

- ST castes are Koyas & Konda Reddys (Manya Seema), Gond (Adilabad), Yanadi and Chenchus (Along Nallamala hills). Flat-land STs are Banjara (Telangana), Dommara, Nakkali

If there are no elections for next 3 years, I would put my money on YSJ's dead-political career.

There is more than meets the eye.

For them I apply my own crook theory. When two crooks fight, they fight for bounty (real fight) or they fake-fight by taking roles of good-crook and bad-crook for bigger bounty and to confuse people.

Coming to voting, they want to create congress vs non-congress where they want non-congress to be squeezed by making more players.

Some questions:

1. Does the spit divide the vote-share of the Cong or boosts it by dividing the share of the opposition ?

2. If YSR was EJ, is Jagan EJ ++ ?

Note that Jagan is subregionalist so essentially AP now has:

INC (national), TDP (regional), TRS, PRP, and Jagan (subregional), CPI/CPM/BJP (national with some presence)

INC --> TRS(broker), PRP(eager-beaver), Jagan(pissed of for now)

TDP -> CPI/CPM (friends)
|----> BJP (reluctant friends)

So the Congress does lose. But what about the All India Christian Council proposing his name for CM last year:

Opinion: The New Chapter of AP

With the resignations of YS Jaganmohan Reddy and Vijayamma from Loksabha and Assembly respectively and from primary memberships of the Congress party, the golden times of the Grand Ole Party of India are over. Not only in Andhra Pradesh but also in entire India.

Even more puzzling to the people is the attitude of Sonia Gandhi and her immature child, Rahul Gandhi. Sonia, with her Italian mafia style uses leaders like YSR to reach her goals and gets them killed in "accidents". Rajesh Pilot, Madhava Rao Sindhia, YSR were all great leaders that were supposed to show the way to the nation. Coincidentally, they all met with helicopter "accidents". There was never any proper investigation. The guy that could never complete any degree in any college, and never worked responsibly in any firm is trying to run the country. It's very dangerous for India.

Shyam: Thanks. Kapus are both BC and FC. Looks like some Reddys are FC while some others could be ST. What are the voting patterns? Is it caste oriented or faction oriented? Or is it issued based (like infrastructure, development, water, jobs ityadi)? Ultimately people seek progress. But the EJ and conversion activities probably add more complexity to the matter.

It was no different with Katherine Dhanani, the US Consul General. Far from getting annoyed, she simply gave in to the music that washed over her.

It was a different kind of an experience for Ms. Dhanani when she visited Barkas in the Old City on Tuesday.

Traditional welcome

Did she enjoy the traditional welcome accorded to her? Boy she sure did. One had to just see the glint in her eyes and her glowing countenance to know.

The people of Barkas, under the aegis of the Deccan Democratic Club, gave the customary at home to the new Consul General.

The ‘Arabi daf' troupe was on hand to give the typical reception.

Donning white T-shirts and ‘lungies' with the red scarf for headgear, the band belted out the Arabic tune ‘Alila gam ya baya bam ..' As the beat increased in cadence steadily, the local Yemni crowed broke into a slow jig.


Accompanied by Mathew B. Stannard, Vice-Consul, Ms. Dhanani turned up in a black ‘kurthi-pyjama' with a pink scarf draped over her head. Of course she had to struggle to keep it from slipping away.

“We wanted to show the local culture and also dispel the misgivings about Muslims,” said Habeeb Mohsin, the man behind the show.

The welcome over, Ms. Dhanani spent some time with the Barkas elders trying to understand their culture. She was also served Hyderabadi delicacies.

But she didn't plump for the biryani, mirchi ka salan, chicken 65 course. Instead, she partook of ‘marag' (mutton soup), ‘mahmooz' (mutton masala) and ‘paratha'.

“The local community is vibrant and I am happy to meet the people here”, remarked Ms. Dhanani.

She was all smiles when an English copy of the holy Quran was presented to her.

Diversity

She was pleased with the rich diversity of Hyderabad and said India and US had many commonalities.

Khalidi was at forefront of creating Osmanistan from the Nizam areas of Telangana. He wrote about it many times. Now that he is gone it could mean one less thing to worry about. It also could mean others are preferred.

The Kiran Kumar Reddy's cabinet leaves many with mixed feelings.

The Reddys form the largest group of the ministers. There are now 13 Reddys in the ministry (excluding the chief minister).

Unlike expected, the number of Kapu ministers have just risen from 2 to 3 (talking of forward caste Kapus and not backward caste Kapus like Danam Nagendar).

Many other forward castes got one ministry each like Brahmins, Vysya (TG Venkatesh), Kamma, Velama, Raju (Satrucharla Vijayarama Raju).

There is one forward caste Velama (Jupally Krishna Rao. Dharmana Prasada Rao is a BC Velama).

And KKR gave good representation for the BCs who cornered 10 posts. And the interesting point to note is that Basavaraju Saraiah is the only minister from the washerman community since the past three decades.

There is only one Muslim in the new cabinet (Ahmadullah). Everyone expected him to get boosting orders since he is considered close to YS Jagan.

The number of SCs are six while one ST got the ministry. As expected, some of the leaders considered close to YS Jagan were not given the chance once again which include Gade Venkat Reddy, Pilli Subhash Chandra, Balineni Srinivas Reddy, P. Ramachandra Reddy and Chinta Mohan Reddy.

Region wise the new ministry has 16 each from Andhra and Telangana and seven from Rayalaseema (excluding CM).

Seven new faces figure in the Cabinet of Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy which is being sworn-in right now at Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad by the Governor, Mr E.S.L. Narasimham. The Chief Minister will head a 39-member team, including four who are returning to the Cabinet.

The seven first-timers in the Cabinet are: T.G. Venkatesh, E. Pratap Reddy, Thota Narasimham, Maheedhar Reddy, Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy, Pratap Reddy S. Sailajanath, Basavaraju Saraiah, said to be the only MLA belonging to the washerman community in south India.

There are four ministers who were not in the YSR-Rosaiah Cabinet in Mr Kiran's team, including Mr Jana Reddy, Mr D.L. Ravindra Reddy and Mr P. Shanker Rao.

The Chief Minister has adhered to the Gentleman's Agreement in regional allocation. Sixteen ministers are from Telangana, 16 from Coastal Andhra, and eight from Rayalaseema, including the Chief Minister himself.

The new team has great focus on weaker sections, who form 45 per cent of the cabinet: 10 (BCs), ST(1), SC (6), minorities (1) - Total(18).

Among the 22 others are: Reddy 14 (including the CM); Kapus 3; Velama 1; Vysya 1; Kshatriya 1; Brahmin 1; Kamma 1.

The Chief Miniister enlarged the size of his team to 39, from 33 in the Rosaiah Cabinet. He is allowed a maximum of 44 ministers, including himself, or 15 per cent of the strength of the Assembly. Due to this, the strength of SCs goes up from 4 to 6 in the Cabinet, Kapu 2 to 3 and the number of Reddys goes up from 10 to 11.

Five ministers in the YSR-Rosaiah do not figure in the Kiran Kumar Reddy team: Pilli Subhash Chandra, Balineni Srinivas Reddy, P. Ramachandra Reddy, Chinta Mohan
Reddy, Gade Venkat Reddy.

Mr J.C. Diwakar Reddy, who was expected to included in the Cabinet, does not figure in the list.

Andhra's should position itself to extract its pound of flesh for all we've sunk into Hyderabad and divest itself from HYD over time.

Continuing my CT thoughts on why SG is punishing YSJ...

CT++1: Rajamata encouraged YSR and gave him unprecedented freedom as he was for EJing of AP. But as he got into the final phase of his first term, he developed a larger than life self-confidence and went to kubja Tirumala hills. This woke up the Indic lobby in INC and brought Rajamata to realize that there are some red lines even she cannot cross in order to keep the dynasty at helm. YSR tried to chalk his own glory path by going direct with EJ-fundraisers (remember the fight between KAPaul types and YSR group of EJs?) and in the process got accidented (by whom???). Rajamata want to be the sole spearhead of EJ-fundraisers in Indian-dominion and doesn't want EJs go regional and build their own satraps. That could be the reason behind YSJ getting sidelined even though he enjoys some popular support and has some access to EJ-fundraisers.

Why would SG still keep her duel-citizenship? What is so valuable in her Italian citizenship that is worth more than Indian-PMship? Does she have to forgo those Swiss accounts?

She should have cleared this legal issue by 2009 even if she wasn't aware of eligibility criteria for PMship per Indian Constitution and law in 2004.

She is running the entire Govt. with her coterie such as Ahmed Patel and Setlvad types. No CON leader wants to take on MMS because they know that gaddi belongs to Prince next time. She can loot, loot and loot with no responsibility. All the muck is getting stuck on MMS or Kalmadi or Sheila Dixit. What can be better than this? All power with no responsibility. The power of money, conversions every thing she wanted. No one can question her accountability.

^ So she gets the power and money without getting the associated responsibility and accountability. A textbook case of client state - Here the super power is rajamata and client state is MMS.

And Rajamata keeps her duel citizenship. So India is a colony of Italy? And Mr. clean MMS made this happen?

Now that Jagan is out of INC and we dont know what that does to INC, can we relook at the KCR farce and fraud of fasting (3Fs) to kick start the Telangana statehood statement from PC in dec 2009? Was the KCR drama to checkmate Jagan's clout? What is the prognosis now.

It is not even 24 hours that the Ministers participated in Swearing in Ceremony. But the scenario of resignations has started. V Vasantah Kumar who was allotted Tourism Ministry is resigning stating that he was given the portfolio that is not so vital. He stated that Reddy community leaders and Telangana leaders were given better portfolios but he was betrayed.

Same is the case with Komati Reddy Venkata Reddy who was given Infrastructure Development. He too is in the spree of resigning from his Ministry. Ponnala Lakshmaih who was given IT Ministry is also in the mood of resigning.

IIRC Indian does not allow dual citizenship ( SG could not have become an Indian Citizen without giving up her Italian Citizenship )
