Sources told The Sunday Standard that India had broached the issue with its ally Russia about the BRICS reconstruction package for Syria. However, Russia is said to have indicated to New Delhi to wait. Russian President Vladimir Putin met Prime Minister Narendra Modi before the BRICS Summit for the Indo-Russian Annual bilateral. Moscow has dispatched its aircraft carrier to the region.

Aleppo, one Syria’s largest and commercially thriving city, has emerged as the key battleground in the country. The city has been divided in two parts with President Bashar al-Assad’s forces dominating the west and rebels, the east. Russia has been backing the Assad government and is bombing east Aleppo to wrest control of the urban centre from the rebels.

India had thought of bringing Moscow on board for the reconstruction proposal as it has found its position convergent with Russia’s. Both have been against the ouster of Assad’s government. New Delhi is keen to bolster its relations with the countries in the region, including Syria, as most of them are also member of the Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC). Pakistan has been able to ratchet up OIC’s support for its Kashmir rhetoric.
MoS for External Affairs M J Akbar went to Syria and met President Assad, who appreciated India’s “objective” position and asked it to play more active role in the reconstruction of the war-torn country.

What is your assessment of the situation in Syria?

In Syria, two parties are fighting. One is a terror group and the other is a secular regime. Terror groups are being supported by the US and their allies such as Saudi Arabia, and the secular regime is being supported by Russia, China and BRICS countries. There is no moderate opposition; there are only terror groups on the ground. When they shave their beards, they become moderate opposition, and when they grow their beards, they become terror groups. So as Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, there is no good or bad terrorism. Terrorism is terrorism. There is no way to talk to terrorists.

India has problems with Pakistan and it wants Syria’s support in OIC as it is the only group adopting resolutions and commenting on Kashmir. How will Syria balance between its two allies—India and Pakistan?

Syria shares good relations with both countries. It has a different stand in the OIC. We request India and Pakistan to talk out a solution without external intervention within the ambit of the 1972 Shimla Agreement. We are confident that Indian policy makers will resolve the issue. We are against cross-border terrorism. As our President (Bashar al Assad) said, there is no border and no country for terrorism.

OIC’s recent meeting was in Tashkent. Syria took a stand that Kashmir is an internal matter of India?

Our stand is always to find a political solution. India, Pakistan have to resolve the issue bilaterally.

When the USA invaded Iraq they bribed the Iraqi Generals to run away.. today so many of them live in Florida and Washington. And thus Iraqi defenses crumbled so easily.. They did the same thing when IS attacked Iraq. And they tried to do the same thing with IS now but the coup plotters were fond out and executed..

here's what happened.

USA tried to do an op Iraqi freedom with ISIS but the leaders were found out and a few hundred of the plotters executed. Obama's plans to take Mosul by November went up in flames and is now buried.

And the Iraqis are acting as Mad Max now ..

Looks like USA has fallen upon a bad phase, as a country it is in sade-saati phase and can do no right. Everything it tries flops beyond belief.
